  1. Lee Seunggi, need I say more? Of course I am going to watch it! First 2 episodes were really cute for me. At first I wasn't sure about the chemistry but it's grown on me and I can't wait to see how the leads develop. Like you @mademoiselle, I was surprised at the early reveal of why Jung Ho left his job as a prosecutor and why he cut ties with Yuri. I thought this would be gradually revealed later on in the drama. I am curious though what he's been working on all these years since it looks like he's been doing his own side investigation and that his webtoons/novels are actually a part of his plans. It's also interesting that he is technically a grandson of Dongwa(? - I can't remember the name of the construction company) and I'm sure there is a backstory in there somewhere. I wonder if Yuri knows that Jung Ho is related to them. She knows about his dad of course, but I don't know if she is aware of who his mother is. Lee Seunggi is adorable as always. I don't know what it is exactly about him that appeals to me so much but if he's on screen, you can bet I am watching. In another life, I would marry the guy in a heartbeat. HAHA! Lee Seunggi in track suits totally reminds me of HB in Secret Garden.
  2. I can’t get over how sweet Zisheng and SS were during the banquet. It was so obvious to everyone how in-love the two of them are. When Zisheng played the Zither(?), don’t really know what the instrument is called, you can see the pride and delight in SS‘S eyes and expression. Even when she called for him to present his gift to the empress, you can see the pride in her face. And when he drinks the wine and she carefully wipes his chin, it was obvious that she dotes on him. Her choosing to drink from his wine cup is her wanting an indirect kiss probably couldn’t help herself anymore. And when she gave him a peck on the cheek!! Ugh so sweet! You can see how happy Zisheng was!
  3. If SS still had not fallen for Zisheng, that bed scene for sure must have awakened her desires
  4. Literally me, watching Zisheng on top of SS... The sexual tension was INTENSE! I was eating my lunch and had to stop eating because of all that tension on screen. I love how softly Zisheng kept asking SS, "what happened?".. he was so gentle with her. And the way he had his hands on her back... showing her "pressure points". And when they were on the bed.. the way he looked at her and the way he out her hand on his lower back.. UGH DEAD!! I AM DEAD!!
  5. I'm glad he wasn't really being punished. Now I can't wait to see it!
  6. You think so? It look like it really hurt Zisheng but it would be interesting if it were indeed fake.
  7. @OsmanthusTea hahaha! I actually know who the real culprit is because I saw a video on YT explaining it. I am curious to find out how Ling Buyi figures it out eventually. Can't wait for tomorrow's episodes where we see more sweet moments between Zisheng and Shaoshang. Just saw the trailers for ep 37 and 38 and it looks like something bad is going to happen where Zisheng gets punished
  8. Zi Sheng also explains this in Ep 30 When Shaoshang commented that it would have been better if the emperor hadn’t gotten drunk and conceived 5th prince I actually loved this part because if I recall correctly, this was the first time she leaned in and had a casual conversation with Zi Sheng while they’re in the presence of others. Another sign that she’s getting more comfortable with him
  9. @mademoisellethanks so much for all of this info! I suspected as much - that Zi Sheng was likely some sort of nickname since Shaoshang is called “Niaoniao” by her family. But having you go into detail on the different types of names and who usually uses them is so helpful. as for the fight, I guess I am a little confused because the order of events in the novel vs. the drama seems to be a little different. In the drama, he gets upset and tells her to give him back his heart and he then doesn’t pick her up the next day. Is this the same fight?
  10. @mademoiselle I am curious to find out what makes Shaoshang say that to Zi Sheng. I am excited for her to come to say that because it’s a major turning point in their relationship. By the way, why is he sometimes called Zi Sheng and sometimes called Ling Buyi? why does he leave for a fight and why does he come back to see her?
  11. Aw thanks for this background information from the novel @mademoiselle! I didn't read the novel so I don't have the context and being able to see them is really good!
  12. So does this mean that they’re just going to continue to air season 2 without a break? If yes, I am sooooo happy!! I was already stressing over the fact that S1 was ending and we didn’t have a firm date on S2. How could I spend my days in eager anticipation?! Seeing Ling Buyi and Shaoshang’s relationship slowly grow is making me I love that they both needed time to get to know each other. I love that Ling Buyi actually listens to Shaoshang. When she told him that she felt like he was controlling her, he really gave it some thought and presenting her with that piece of bread (it looks like a pita by the way) was so significant. The smile she gave him after was so bright. It showed her that he respects and cares about how she feels. The scene where he lifts her up on that ledge and asks her to stay away from the Eastern palace… I love the way he softly looks at her and says “who hurt you?” The gentleness and affection in his voice was so endearing. I replayed that scene over and over again. You can see how much he loves her. I really love that scene on the ledge because once again, Ling Buyi lets Shaoshang express her thoughts and feelings and he meets her half way. When he understood her reasons for doing so, he just gently holds her hands and says “alright, you can do anything you like… I will protect you” Ling Buyi doesn’t try to control her. He tells her when to be careful but he lets her do as she pleases once he understands her reasons. And I love that he is supportive of her. To others, she appears stubborn and unrestrained. But to him, he always sees the good in her. He knows that there is always a reason behind her words and actions. Just like he knew that she was testing the emperor and empress when she complained about the other girl (can’t remember her name). I also noticed that whenever both Ling Buyi and Shaoshang are in the presence of other people, he never corrects or interrupts her. Even when she is being forthright in her thoughts and potentially offending royalty, he just sits there and lets her say what she wants to say. He only steps in when he feels the need to protect her. I love that about him. Again, another sign that he respects her and thinks highly of her. As for the part where he says he’d rather take his heart back… I must admit I didn’t fully understand it either. The way I interpreted it is that he’s trying to tell her that everything he does is for her good because she means so much to him. And if she can’t see that, then he’d rather take his heart back since she is the only woman for him. He won’t give his heart to anyone else. So if she is not willing to receive his love (“his heart”), then there is no one else to give it to. He might as well just have it back. I think it’s also meant to tell her that all of his words and actions are born out of his heart and he hopes that she would see and appreciate his efforts. Anyway, just guessing here bec I don’t really fully understand that part. I cannot wait to see the rest of the episodes. It looks like Shaoshang’s love for Ling Buyi will finally deepen and her attachment to him will grow. But my senses are telling me that something bad is about to happen to them and I’m dreading it.
  13. I think the problem is that SS grew up without her parents and so SS and her mother do not know each other well enough. There is a void in SS due to her parents' absence. All her life, she was made to feel as though she was abandoned and she probably feels insecure about her parents' love and care for her. So she craves love, attention and assurance from them. Unfortunately, her mother doesn't seem to know this and her mother believes in "tough" love. In her mind, the best she can do for SS is to toughen her up to face the world. But her methods only hurt SS even more. Since they don't know each other well enough, there is a lot of misunderstanding happening between them. SS only sees her mother as cold, strict and difficult to please. Her mother sees her as stubborn, unrefined and cunning. They would do better if they actually took the time to get to know each other more. Having said that, I don't agree with how her mother spoke ill of her in front of the emperor and everyone else. I get that she likely thought that was the best way to get SS out of a marriage proposal she didn't want or wasn't ready for. However, it only hurt and embarrassed SS. Mind you, she was not aware that SS was being bullied right before. I don't know if she is aware of how much everyone looks down on her daughter. Maybe if she knew what had transpired earlier, she would have handled the situation differently. I initially questioned Ling Buyi's timing to propose. But after reading all of your comments, I now understand that it was the best time to let everyone know how highly he esteems SS and that to him, she is the only one. I love that this time, he is taking no chances is losing her to someone else. I cannot wait for SS to get to know him better and fall for him. I have to say that I love the emperor.. he is like the comic relief to all of this. I haven't read the novel so I am not sure what happens later but from the previews I've seen, it looks like Ling Buyi is going to be punished for something (I just don't know what). Ugh I cannot wait for Season 2! I didn't even know there were 2 seasons!
  14. Started this one yesterday and it's so good that I immediately got hooked and binged all 24 available episodes. Gah! I am crushing hard on Leo Wu in this one. First time seeing him in a drama and I think he's perfectly cast here as Ling Buyi. The scene where he proposes in front of everyone was seriously so good. I also cannot wait until SS falls for him.
  15. Checked out episode 1 and I like it so far. This is typically not my genre but I liked Seo Ye Ji in IONTBO that when I saw the trailer for this, I thought I should at least check it out. IMO, she plays the smart, beautiful and somewhat crazy characters really well. A little disturbing but curious to see how things are going to unfold.
  16. Yijin and Hee-Do… I need time to heal.

  17. I agree, Yijin and Hee-Do’s love story reminded me of my own “Yijin”. Although my heart is broken for them, I do agree that it’s pretty realistic. My own Yijin was there for me at my lowest, we also started out just as friends and we also truly had a great time whenever we were together. Although the love was real, unfortunately life had other plans. I ended up moving to a different country and although we tried to keep then communication open, it eventually got too difficult and we ended up drifting apart. I still occasionally think of him and sometimes wonder what could have been. But I look at my life now and there are things I have now that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I thought to myself that maybe it would have been better for Yijin and Hee-Do to have met later in life when they were both settled in their careers… maybe it would have worked. But then again, having met each other at their lowest point and growing through it together is what made them special and they wouldn’t have that if they had met later. Also, the successes they later enjoyed in life were largely due to having each other for support during those very difficult times. It was each other’s company that cheered them on and gave them the strength to endure and keep going. So in reality, they met exactly at the right time. I think that what this drama highlighted for me is that sometimes a love can be so strong and so right between two people but life can lead us to different paths. And no matter how much we want things to work out, there are just certain things we cannot control and sometimes that forces us to make hard choices. This drama is going to stay with me for a while bec I’m mourning Yijin and Hee-do - all the beautiful things they were and all the beautiful things they could have been. what makes it even harder for me is that the kind of love they had for each other is rare. I think they knew that too and I don’t think that love ever left them. The look they gave each other during that interview said it all to me. I think that no matter where life leads them, there will always be a special place in their hearts for each other. I think too that is why they chose to include that last tidbit at the end with Yijin trying to login and remember his password. It asked a security question - who was your first love - and he typed Hee-do. I think that is a form of comfort, that no matter how much time has passed, they will always have that memory of them together in their hearts.
  18. My heart hurts for Hee-Do and Yijin. Like @mademoiselle, I also couldn’t predict how this drama was going to end. I truly love this drama and glad I decided to check it out.
  19. Ugh I don’t know if I can handle this.. I love Yijin and Hee-do so so so much and to know that they’re going to go their separate ways kills me….
  20. How come there aren't any new episodes? I can only see up to ep 6 on Netflix.
  21. Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I last visited JH. Real life has been taking up all of my time. I recently started this and it's so good I breezed through all 10 episodes (and sacrificed precious sleep). I don't have a lot of information about this drama prior to watching so I am not sure what to expect. I am HOPING that we will get a happy ending because Hee-Do and Yijin are just so ADORABLE together. I love that their love and respect for each other grew out of friendship and that it was gradual. I love how patient and respectful Yijin is towards Hee-Do. Despite his feelings for her, he doesn't pressure her. Being older, he is more aware of his feelings and yet he doesn't try to tell her how she feels or put a label on her feelings for him. It's cute that Yijin finds Hee-do's innocence and straightforwardness adorable. Nam Joo-Hyuk is perfect for this role because he has such expressive facial expressions - he has a way of showing sadness, interest and curiosity in his eyes. I adored him in Weightlifting Fairy and The Light in Your Eyes and I love him in this one as well. My favourite scenes so far: When Hee-do takes Yijin to the sink with the faucets and she thinks turning the faucets upside down and spraying water was so hilarious. Yijin didn't know how to react in the beginning bec it was so simple - like something only a child would find fascinating and yet he entertains her and sincerely thanks her for it. When Yijin and Hee-do fence and he tricks her and wins. This scene was momentous for me because you can see Yijin being aware of Hee-do's proximity to him. I think this was the moment he starts to realize he likes her. Yijin and Hee-do repeatedly listening to each others messages When Yijin confronts Hee-do about why she's avoiding him and she just says she's confused and bangs her head on the wall and he just chuckles at how adorable she is. I love that he doesn't tell her or describe her feelings for her. He just lets her figure it out for herself. When Yijin meets "sweetie pie". Priceless When Hee-do goes looking for Yijin's dad. She knew how much it meant to him and she ran all over the place for 2 hours just trying to find him. When Yijin tells Hee-do and Yurim he's going to be filming a documentary and Hee-do protests as she doesn't want to look bad again. Yijin's reply "what am I to you?" was so significant. When Yijin confesses on the bridge. I love that he is honest with how he feels but doesn't put pressure on her. He just wanted to tell her how he felt without any expectation. I can't seem to figure out how things are going to progress in the next few episodes and it's killing me!
  22. Started this one the other day and I have to say I'm really enjoying it albeit it being a little heavy at times. I really loved the scene between Chan Young and Jiseok when she tells him that she's got cancer.. the way he reacts to it was so on point. You can clearly see the shock in his eyes as she starts to tell him about it and the way he just cries in bewilderment.. a true mix of shock, sadness and helplessness.. very very well done. I had a feeling that Juwon wasn't Jiseok's son and ep 4 confirms it. Need to watch the rest and come back here.
  23. @abs-oluteM I’m actually enjoying this drama and glad you recommended it to me. I’m all caught up with available episodes and can’t wait to see the rest of it. I like both the leads and find Gu Juxian quite cute and funny.
  24. I am all caught up with available episodes. I’m losing steam though bec I’m enjoying other dramas more. As much as I love Yutian, I feel like he keeps landing these types of roles and it doesn’t give him the opportunity to grow as an actor. He’s behaving very much like his character Jiang Tien in A Love so Beautiful. His character in this one is falling a little flat. However, I’m still going to finish this one.
  25. Ok I will check this one out. I don’t think I’ve seen the leads before.
