Ooooh. So you have no feel for the couple. That means the ship won't sail.  Imma not ready for Oppa to start a family, yet.

    Spoiler

I read on twitter that KSH likes young girls. Any truth or is that just antis?

    So how did LOTBS end?

How is MLFTS not far-fetched? Until now, that is the most unsatisfying part of the drama for me. LOL. Felt like she just made up a wormhole without giving us a good explanation, like any other Kdrama's fantasies. Sigh.

He was an alien. So we need to give the writer some license to cook up a story haha. I wasn't paying much attention too. At that time, I was also thinking he stayed on earth for hundreds of years and suddenly he no longer could...

Girl, isn't leaving North Korea without permission still consider as illegal?

He was travelling to Switzerland legally, representing NK. If he got a longer term job teaching in Switzerland with agreement from NK, it means he would be able to stay longer than just the 2 weeks. So they can have a family. Much like those families where one spouse travels or is based overseas for work.

If he leaves NK permanently and illegally, he would be a SK citizen in no time. Yoon Seri is RICH!

😏 I had thought you'd have jumped to the ending to take a peek? They move to live in the regional area close to the sea. She also receives love from the man she fell for, so she won't die.

I found it so boring I dropped it after 2 or 3 episodes. BUT, that was in the beginning of my k-drama journey when I didn't know how big shot the 2 leads were so I didn't PERSEVERE. But then again, that should be the most unbias assessment of a drama isn't it.

@Chocolate Why are you so eager for Queen to be LDR? Is it because CLOY is LDR, too? Your CLOY couple got their full fledge happy ending in real life. So, let Queen couple have their FFHE on-screen (since I don't ship real life).

No lah. I'm not so petty. It's just that, although I do cry at all the sad and touching scenes, strangely I really don't have much feelings for this couple. So whatever the ending is, is fine with me.

With CLOY, I kept thinking it was impossible for them to be together. Because RJH would never leave his parents in NK at the mercy of the government just for his own happiness. The Switzerland solution was thus a pleasant surprise and I was happy with it. It was not far-fetched. Same with MLFAS.

So I think it would be interesting how the writer intends to end this. Although she writes a little "fantasy", it's not the all-in kind where every impossble thing is explained with magic. There is still logic behind it. So I hope the ending would not be just a sudden miracle.

Long distance relationship 2 (MLFTS, CLOY) vs full fledge happy ending 1 (LOTBS). So I'm betting on full fledge happy ending this time. Technically, it is 1 vs 2 because it can be assumed Do Min Joon will eventually be able to stay on earth as long as he pleases when he works out the physics behind the wormhole.

Hahaha, by that logic, CLOY is also full fledge happy ending because Ri Jeong Hyeok would have found a way to teach permanently in Switzerland or he would not return to NK once his parents pass away. That seems more likely than figuring out the physics of a wormhole lol.

How did LOTBS end happily? Did she become a full human? How?

The worst case scenario with Hae In is death, which is unlikely, unless Park Ji Eun has a death wish. So the second-worst case scenario for me would be something similar to the movie, 50 First Dates. Hae In would experience lapses, but her memory would always return. We still have our happily ever after for OTP and their Soo Bin born on 31 Oct.

I think Hae In is unlikely to die. But living with periodic memory loss - how can that be a happy ending. At most it falls under LDR - a not here not there type of ending haha.

How about Hyun Woo has to make some sort of sacrifice or leave the family so that Hae In could recover? 😈

On 4/16/2024 at 7:59 AM, mademoiselle said:

@abs-oluteM Yeah, Haraboji really died. I think it was also his way of making it up to the family, for not listening to Beom Ja this whole time. Also, learning Hae In is sick means he needs to somehow let the family unfreeze their assets so that Hae In can pay for treatment or seek more medical help. We'll find out soon what message he has left for Hae In.

Yes, I think he felt regrets and thought breaking the mistress's hold on him was the only way to help his family. A pity he did it one day too early. However, this should give you hope of a happy ending, because the obligatory death is out of the way.

But that instant when the mistress was shouting at him that Hae In was dying... can't imagine the shock and despair he must have felt and yet not able to show it to her.

Yeahhhh, I love that short scene where Soo Cheol sees Gun Woo in the sack. Didn't help when Gun Woo look so adorable in the sack. Haha. What I like about Soo Cheol is his love for Gun Woo, regardless he's his real son or not.

I have no issues with him taking the wife back. She grew up in the orphanage and got in with the wrong crowd. She's not some evil monster with any real grudge against the family. She just followed along and her role was rather passive. Anyway, her actions after she left showed she cared about him. So I would give her a second chance.

That seems to be reading too much into things just to make yourself happy 😅  I’m fully expecting a LDR hahaha. I think I may be quite upset if it was a full fledge HER lol.

Aunty BoemJa and her Leslie Cheung are quite cute! I was waiting for her to go back to the house and discover that he gave a whole basket of mulberries to the family haha.

  5. It’s got to be Lee Moo Saeng right? Otherwise why would he be one of the leads? It’s a bit like Ha Seok Jin’s character in Blind.

I don't feel the chemistry between Han Hyo Joo and Ju Ji Hoon yet, so I'm currently impartial with the romance bit. But I definitely think it would be a waste if he's married. Didn't Tea post above that the child is his sister's? The lady could be his sister too.

Me too. But I think it’s more that I’m not really enjoying HHJ’s portrayal here. She’s been stern and steely, pretty much expressionless for 2 episodes. Hoping I like her better later.

@Chocolate Scriptwriter is probably like a novel writer, living off earnings from their previously successful works, i.e. copyright and reprinting fees. Best example being J. K. Rowling.

I’m not sure they get royalties. For Squid Game, the director who also wrote the script said that they don’t get anything more than the initial agreed amount from Netflix despite it being such a big hit. Maybe if the drama was successful, they can negotiate for higher fees or profit sharing for the sequel.

@mademoiselle @Chocolate  Something that is artificial would have side effects? Of course it can be countered argued that most things are already genetically modified anyway. I see the merits of such a technology to deal with food security issues but I will need some convincing to eat them.

If this is growing the meat from the animal cell, without growing the whole animal, it doesn’t seem so offensive. Unless of course the meat is “alive”.

Maybe we should all become vegetarians…

  6. @UnniSara Yes, agree that the will was not a very important factor for him. He would have happily taken the divorce without the money just to get free.

But the fact that he was susceptible to his friend's suggestion and even tried to get into the will, AFTER he learnt of her terminal illness, well, that speaks for the kind of person he was at that moment.

  7. I've been looking forward to this and will start this weekend. For now, I am finishing 7 SEASONS of Billions which is like 84 episodes 😨.

I like all of this writer's dramas. But wondering how much they are paid per drama since it looks like one has to sustain 2 years of living expenses + savings etc ...

Something I don’t understand - why does Hyunwoo’s mum get angry with him when he revealed that he decided to call off the divorce when he found out she was terminally ill? Wouldn’t that in general have been the right thing to do anyway?

The way I read this is Hyun Woo's first thought when Hae-In said she had 3 months to live was - Yippee. I don't need to divorce the hard way and suffer all the consequences the family could impose, when I get my freedom when she dies! And that's why his mum was angry with him for thinking that way.

That said, I think the drama has been very successful in developing their relationship from that extreme. In addition to that scene, he was also plotting to get himself into Hae In's will. So Hyun Woo's character was really quite despicable at the beginning, no matter how much we can understand his situation. If not for KSH (both his face and acting ability), I'm not sure if there is another actor that can rescue the character and be so loved now.

    @Chocolate Are you still watching?

Hahaha yes I am watching and up to date. But I'm just a little better than @SilverMoonTea lol. And I realised that apart from CLOY, I have not been able to finish MLFAS and LOTBS.

When I looked at the episodes on Netfix, I realised each episode is almost 1.5hours long! And I remember reading the S pages for CLOY and some people complaining the episodes were too long - I feel like that sometimes haha. Then I also remember those people being told off by CLOY fans that they can stop watching if they don't like it. So I keep my mouth shut here hahahaha.

This drama feels heavier. The writer seems keen to send out a message on why marriages breakdown - the communication issues they face, the differences in values , the meddling by family.

I think there may also be family unity at the end. Aunt Beom-ja is shown to love the OTP, and she feels so sad for her brother who is doing all he can to save the dying snail 😂, not knowing his own daughter is dying. Brother, though an idiot, does not really have a bad heart. He and the mother will likely come around once they realise they have been cheated by the man they are now idolising. So will grandpa, but who knows if he will go to jail since there seems to be some hanky panky at the company.

What do you have in mind a love from afar type like CLOY and MLFAS?

Maybe like Hae In says? She will wait for him in heaven and welcome him as an angel hahahaha!

On 3/25/2024 at 5:50 AM, mademoiselle said:

You know what's the fastest way to regain her trust? Sacrifice; the "I-will-bleed-or-die-in-your-stead" kind, LOL. That usually does the trick in dramas.

I think this may be right for the ending. It is unlikely that Hae In will die. And Hyun Woo is the save the damsel type of guy. Plus, he drew in that lifeline for her - so he can extend her life. At the expense of his own? Let's see.

On 3/25/2024 at 5:50 AM, mademoiselle said:

Wow, episode 6's rating broke 14%. Now I'm curious whether it'd reach or surpass Park Ji Eun's old projects. MLFTS is the highest at 28%, which might not be as easy, but 21% (LOTBS and CLOY) seem achievable.

I'm so sad! CLOY is at risk again!

On 3/25/2024 at 2:06 PM, mademoiselle said:

The scale of this infiltration is an eye-opener. Just how long the scheming and planning took? This looks like an over 20+ years of meticulous planning. Too bad Eun Seong is no Ling Bu Yi, aye?

Aunt Beom Ja made me cry in this episode. She may seem cuckoo, but she wears her heart on her sleeve. I'm glad she has found some dirt on Mistress Mo. Now all she has to do is share this with Hae In and Hyun Woo. Mistress Mo's background suggest the son maybe Eun Seong, isn't it? And Eun Seong might be CEO Hong's son, which is why he wants Queens. They could also be the one who framed and ousted the eldest son (Beom Ja's Oppa).

It is quite surprising that the planning started so long ago so I am looking forward to knowing why. Though I think Eun Song may be the mistress's son, I strongly doubt he is the grandpa's son. Even if illegitimate, there are ways to obtain his rightful place without going to this extreme. I sincerely hope there is a better reason.

On 3/25/2024 at 2:06 PM, mademoiselle said:

It looks promising Hyun Woo himself has a group of brotherhood/friends, and they might all come in handy later on in helping him. What do you guys think? The OTP in Park Ji Eun's dramas always have side-kicks, so I think a few of them could be the side-kicks.

Hahaha, I actually really dislike his friends, especially the divorce lawyer. He is such a blabbermouth. Each time Hyun Woo consulted him in the first few episodes, it made me dislike Hyun Woo even more for being such an a** to his wife.

I saw such tweets too! But I don't like it at all. If both Hae In and Hyun Woo and their marriage are to survive, give them a new baby please. Not a takeover one.

Out of curiosity though - are chaebol families in Korea so young? Only 3 generations long with the first being a rags-to-riches generation?

I think so. When I first started watching kdramas a few years ago, I was surprised that modern Korea is so young! The korean war was actually relatively recent in 1950 and it was only in the 1960s that SK started to modernise although still with authoritarian leadership. I still remember the days when we in Singapore bought Samsung and Hyundai because they were the cheapest appliances and cars. And I read articles on how Samsung consciously moved from price to design over time. SK's growth has been amazing in just 60 years.

And so now, never say that dramas don't teach you anything 🤣.

  11. That’s really well written @gilaswan.

I’ve only watched a few of her dramas, but it seems this writer adds a little fantasy/out of the world scenarios in her stories. So I thought hey, Hae In’s lifeline extending is perhaps a part of the magical element, similar to the temporary lapses in memory/awareness of her surroundings. But no, it was drawn in by Hyun Woo 😭😂.

I’ve a feeling this won’t be a straightforward happy ending. Probably the love from afar type like  CLOY and MLFAS. What do you think?

I watched half an episode. Then I stopped.

Movie would have been fine. But 10 episodes of people talking to a nugget head or trying to find a way to turn the nugget back into human!!! I fear for my brain.

And that looked more like sweet and sour pork then chicken nugget!
