  1. Do you like my new face @SilverMoonTea? Guess I'm a vampire now Damn, I feel like a bad LJW fan now Haha but I know season 2 was in Dec 2022. I did really like the show, but it was the weird fighting over the FL which I found off-putting on threads. Made it hard to discuss the drama wiithout being attacked! Hmmm maybe I'll give it a try. I've never been able to get into a C-Drama romance. I can't help but find the romances (that I've seen in the past up till now at least) to feel too mushy too quickly without that slow burn tension...buttttt maybe it's because I've never picked the right dramas for my taste before? The only C-drama I loved was The Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty which I think was not anyone's cup of tea here, but quite popular on the webs for a very mild boys love/ bromance drama Oh so glad that I was not the only one who felt like that!!! I was soooo skeptical that he wasn't just going to use it to build dud businesses, drink and gamble etc I think we're all pretty jaded, but can you blame us when Siwon's character was such a scaredy rich kid?! I like KSR as an actress and think she's pretty and talented, but I think she did act pretty poorly and handled her social media very badly as well. Not that I think people should be unncessarily cruel, but I do understand why people are quick to anger when they hear her name. I think that she should have gone through rehab rather than get a fine...does that even fix a drinking problem?! I also wish the story telling of a drama wasn't affectd by this They didn't need to give her a big scene, just a brief reference to her character would have helped heaps. Oh nooo, I love The Uncanny Counter so far. If not guilty, I feel bad for CBG - from memory, I don't think there's substantial evidence of bullying? It's one of those things where he was accused in the middle of the scanndal period and then it was a their word vs. his word type scendario, which is much harder to prove inocence in. I don't know - I feel like people need to address the casues of bullying and change the underlying culture. In any case, I hope it doesn't ruin the hard work of the other actors.
  2. Hahaha in Bloodhounds I had dual lead sydrome - when you love both leads because they're both hot And then they loved each other because the bromance was strong in that series Ughhh, I keep going back and forth on whether I want to watch this. This still sounds scary to me, even in the 5%. I think it'll be a miss for now because I am weak and cannot take the occasional jump scare Haha this post totally supports what I said before about this year's drama being rather lacklustre About Heartbeat - it's definitely not the strongest story-telling in a drama, but I think I'm a little too charmed by the silly vampire world and the cute vampire-wanting-to-be-human-to-experinece-true-love portrayed by Ok Taec-Yeon. I've never been a fan of his in the Kpop world, but he has me good in this drama (Funnily enough, I also didn't realise that I'd seen him before in real life when he was at the height of his Kpop fame in 2PM and came down to Australia for that giant Kpop concert that I alway talk about going to because it;s the only Kpop concert I've ever bothered to go to ). What's Hidden Love? Is it a Chinese romance? Yeah, I think after the bloodfest, they changed almost all the characters and it was hard to feel as attached to them when you'd really loved all the first people you met. Still, I didn't mind this...but the ending in the very last episode felt anti-climatic to me because they just fight the guys, but they don't show them dying or going to jail. Then Siwan's character ends up getting all the money (except for like 2 gold bars which he gives to them) and he says he'll use the gold to "start a charity" which I don't know if he'd actually do...and in any case, I don't think he deserved the gold bars because he was a coward for most of the series. And Kim Sae Ron's character never comes back or makes contact again? I suppose she's only just come back from a very big scandal irl so maybe it's wasn't realistic to make her character a super likeable hero. But still, it would have been nice even if she sent them a blank postcard from Italy or something like that to tie up that loose end. Also the last scene with the mum at the orphantage just didn't hit me as hard as it could have? Still I really liked Bloodhounds for the main 2 characters, the bromance, the evil bad guys (I'd just fnished watching Park Sung Woong not long ago in Unlock the Boss where he was the boss, so it was fun to see him being a real jerk) and the bloodfest Haha, Yep, the obvious answer is th correct one. But Taec-Yoen made it hot because the FL is like "What do you need from me?" And then he looks at her and is like, "Your love. I need your love." *conveniently removes the main part about it being in her blood which he needs to drink* @SilverMoonTea I did!!! I also really liked that dance and the fact that they were both at a vintage party. Her dress was really nice too. You know how sometimes the female lead is meant to come out in an amazing dress but it's kinda cringe? This was actually nice - the dress was really pretty and vampire Taec-Yeon was admiring but not over the top. Hahaha, yeah I can't stand either 2nd lead. Doosik wants to eat his heart?! Like that's pretty messed up! But I knew as soon as they showed the modern day that Doosik would end up being the descendant of the humans that was hunting Sun Woo Hyeol. Hae Won - yeah, I'll give her that point. Can't blame her because I'd be the same if a vampire like Taec-Yeon continued to pursue me but then suddenly started liking his housemate Make up your mind Woo Hyeol! The only choice should be In Hae!
  3. Wow, I thought SYIM19L was the popular drama that everyone was watching but me...But it seems now that it's not that popular. King the Land was the other one - I refuse to watch it because that title is so grammatically wrong But glad to know I'm not missing out on much I definitely feel like it's been a slow drama year. There hasn't been that many dramas that I've loved wholeheartedly and nothing that I've been seriously obsessed with. I think Bloodhounds is so far the best drama of this year for me. Heartbeat , while not amazing in the story pacing department, has probably been the most entertaining mild romance. I also really liked Delivery Man. Was Alechemy of Souls 2 this year as well? That would make it 3 romances I liked - most of them being fantasy-romances. Everything else has been good, but not amazing or not exactly my cup of tea. It's been a weird year! At least it's going well in the non-romance department coming up. Really looking forward to The Uncanny Counter being back, as well as D.P I already watched the first ep of Uncanny Counter and I felt like it was pretty good - already exciting and funny with good pacing. The bad guys look badddd as well, which is what I want Hahaha, do you guys remember when they did this with Taiwanese dramas? I'm mainly looking at @Tofu and maybe @mademoiselle. I always forget and then get surprised again when I realise George Hu and Park Shin hye were in a drama together - Hayate the Combat Butler . I remember thinking that it looked sooooo awkward a lot of the time due to the dubbing, though the actors themselves were not completely terrible at acting and tried their hardest to build chemistry. It was an early Taiwanese series though, so you know, it was very exagerated. Anyway, maybe I'll watch this J Drama Tea since this J actor looks pretty and this pairing is cute...and I'm curious about how they'll communicate as well (probably with lots of translators on site!) Glad I wasn't the only one who was angsty with all those second lead scenes! It was seriously putting me off last week when they kept showing second FL and second ML. I felt like the main couple have barely realised they liked each other and would never have the time to because they were spennding so much time with second leads (never thought I would ever say those words as a person who almost always has second lead syndrome! ) I think the whole storyline with the 2nd FL being the past lover is so strong and it kinda hurts because it takes away time from the main pair. But I'm glad they decided to amp up the tension between the main pair this week (I see you've written a post about it! So will reply to that then) Hahaha I see what you like about the 2nd ML @SilverMoonTea and it's called money Hahaha what you're describing already scares me!!! I don't like scary laughing. I am a big chicken Also just how young is your young detective? Oooh if you put it like that, I'd be intersted. I don't have any issues with thrillers
  4. Hahaha, well I really like Heartbeat But I knew it wouldn't be @Chocolate's cup of tea - she likes a lot more dramatic series I feel and Heartbeat is relatively tame compared to makjangs Totally agree with all your points! I wasn't expecting much since it looked like just campy, fun vampire drama. But the female lead is super endearing. I think Won Ji An is prettier and is more natural in her acting as In Hae than KGE has been with a lot of her characters (But I'm biased ). I'm really like Taecyon though He looks mightly fine in those suits. And I think he's a good mix of innocent-silly and serious-seductive which makes for good vampire comedy. That kiss in Episode 3 was everything! But I'm a little sad that the last 2 episodes focused on the second leads so much I'm not liking that the second leads spend so much tim splitting up our main couple! I'm worried that they'll continue focusing on the second leads in the next episodes too Do you feel like it's slowing down the pacing of the show??? I feel like it is! I don't like either of the second leads in this drama! They haven't even done anything yet, but I just don't have the patience for them. What do you like about the male second lead? I suppose he's nice to In Hae. Hahahaha, must be like the first time in my life I don't have second lead syndrome @mademoiselle. I'm first lead 100% in this drama Is the Revenant scary?! I wanted to watch, but I felt like I would be too chicken to get through it at night. I;m amazed you checked out so many dramas. I haven't been interested in See you in my 19th Life and others. Lately I just feel tired. I think a lot has happened to me recently and it's winter, so I'm lacking enery...I fall asleep watching half an episode even when I'm into the drama The only one I've been awake for is Heartbeat! I'm glad you're getting some other things like excerise done with your spare time though! I hurt it due to doing too much work last year Such a lame injury, but luckily it means all treatments are paid for by work. It's not terrible (ie. not broken) but it means I've not been able to type as much at times (hence disppearing from here for awhile). Hahahaha it's our little secret. I've embraced the fact that my Oppas are becoming more and more like Dong Saeng most of the time Maybe that's why Taecyeon is appealing. He's still in the older than me category Joinnnnnn ussss Hahaha which ones are not engaging?! I'm not sure Heartbeat is exciting, but I just like it a lot for the world of the vampires because it's fun and silly. And because the 2 leads have a good but subtle romance building. Hahaha I went from 1 to like 4. It's been quite a few months of silently adopting! Thanks for recommedning Bloodhounds btw! I really enjoyed it. I wish the ending was a bit better (I felt like it lost it's edge a little bit?) But I enjoyed all the epsiodes alot. Even that brutally painful episode. I was so mad and hurt after watching it.
  5. Me saying I'm back...but then me disppearing for weeks on end. Hahaha, sorry friends, I'm struggling this year I haven't been able to juggle my time as well. Although my arm is getting better, I feel so tired and lacking in energy lately! Maybe it's winter. Does anyone else who lives in Oz feel this way? I get home from work, watch one episode of a drama and then feel really sleepy! By the way, Important news for @SilverMoonTea I have adopted new Oppas for this year!!! From Bloodhounds: Woo Do Hwan (That scene where they're training and looking mightly ripped, all that bromance. Damn ) From My Mister (I finally watched it!): Lee Sun Kyun (Yeah, that's right, hes joinned my old man ahjussi crushes. He never got to me like Gong Yoo in Coffee Prince. But he got to me in My Mister! From Heartbeat: Ok TaecYeon (I'm realllllly into him at the moment. I was like maybe I'll warm to him in this drama. And damn, it happened. He makes a really hot vampire - equal parts warm and funny.) I really like Heartbeat by the way. It's not super exciting in that there's no big bad guy yet...but it's a fun series with lots of vampire world building. And the romance is quite slow burn at the moment. Who else has adopted Oppas lately? Hahaha now Tea can't tell me off for not adopting bcause suddenly I've adopted a bunch. I don't know if any of these are super strong loves, but they're still loves right? @Tofu it makes me sad that I'm not here as often, but just know I'm always thinking of you around dinner time due to your username I haven't watched a Taiwanese drama in so long. I think this year, I've only obsessed about the SOOD movie...and then that's been all. I really like Vivian Sung and I'm a fan of supernatural dramas so I'll try to check it out. I don't know the male lead, but it's good to learn the next gen of Taiwanese stars. I feel like I haven't really bothered because I still love all the old school actors Tofuuuu...you need to watch it. Definitely before the Kdrama remake Hahaha I guess I'm happy for Yoon Park...but sad for me. Yoon Park looks like a lot of guys I've liked in real life so him getting married was symbolic for me But hopefully our most favourite Oppas are still around...or maybe we just replace them, as usual I was wondering what drama to watch now that I only have one drama Ok I get back to more replies tomorrow
  6. I'll get back to replies on the weekend, but.... I JUST WATCHED EPISODE 6 OF BLOODHOUNDS AND IT WAS SOOO F**KING BRUTAL. I DON'T THINK ANYTHING HAS HURT ME SO DEEPLY FOR SO LONG But also this is probably the best drama I've watched this year. Has all the things that speak to me - bromance, loyalty, gangsters, real evil bad guys, pure softie leads, good humour, tragedy that makes you feel like the world is ending (And then I had to watch episode 7 to make sure Woo Jin was ok which is why I'm up so late. Gotta go to sleep. I'm not as good at stayng up as I use to be...Getting old now )
  7. Hello! It has been a long time and I totally missed our chats about Oppas and dramas and other fun things...and I agree with what you said about post pandemic life. It's hard sometimes to find time to just hang out on JH because so much is going on in real life Haha, to be honest before I joinned JH I was on the S Forums for a long time, but only occasionally and only when I was very addicted to a drama. Once I got over a drama I'd disappear....until the next one. Haha, but then I met you guys and started hanging out on JH more and it was fun and not so scary because on fan wars/ stans. But yes, it always feels like we have limited time now that it's not lockdown I noticed JH is pretty quiet because I saw that I was ranking as being an active member this week, at least before whe I logged on, which was weird because I have only really made like 2 long posts Nope! Not full recovered, but I have a few things to manage the pain and I'm doing stretches and massage with physio. I can type, but somedays I don't to give it rest. Oh well it is what it is. But if I disappear again it may also be the arm issue Yeah, I was actually pretty hooked on Where Stars Land for a good 2 weeks or so. I guess not suprising because it had my boy, Lee Je Hoon and I also love Chae Soo Bin. But yeah, those people who dropped it after the first few episodes missed out! As for Rowoon, do you think his voice in real life is like this or like how he currently sounds? Which is the acting and which is the true voice??? I actually do like Kim Beom, but haven't really seen anything he's been in since the one where he pursued a woman who was older than him. I feel like maybe I should have watched Tale of the 9 tailed...I don't know why I didn't pick it up. Do you think I'd enjoy it? I'm not a huge LDW fan, but if the bromance is there, maybe I could try it? Thats the one. I don't really follow the 2 leads, but I like vampire stories (if not Twilight) and so I'll give that one a go This is a good list! YES to D.P and most likely I'll watch the Rowoon and kim so Hyun projects as well Hahaha I knew I could count on you for a list I started Bloodhounds on your recommendation last night and really liked the first episode. Main guy is quite cute. I feel like you guys were talking about him on the last few pages right? Maybe he'll be the second Oppa I adopt this year if I like the drama. Haha for some weird reason he kind of reminds me of Greg Hsu and Seo Kang Joon I heard my Oppa Yoon Park is joining the marriage club and is marrying his partner My fangirl heart is happy but also like...why you leave me? But I should watch a project of his because I've skipped a lot of his last ones due to them not peaking my interest. Ah I probably disppeared around the time the SOOD movie came out and abandoned my thread as usual because I was in Korea at the time. Yes, I liked the SOOD movie. It brought back all my old feelings.I'm going to put my thoughts in a spoiler tag so @Tofu doesn't accidentally read it before she sees the film Hahaha, I saw it 3 times including on Valentine's day because they gave out special collectible things in Korea. Here's a picture of all the collector's tickets and stuff I got when I went to see SOOD at the cinema...They were still giving things out for a month after I came back...I felt sorry for Korean fans though because they were literally getting fatigue from watching the film 20 times (You couldn't pick up the freebies till after the film). I felt fomo for the stuff I missed, but I'm pretty sure you can buy it online from Korean version of ebay etc.
  8. Haha it's my sense of loyalty. I keep pining for the same guys. My heart only skips for Lee Jae Wook , Lee Je Hoon , Jasper, Greg etc Nah, I think I lied anyway. I have adopted one bad boy.this year - the guy from Taxi Driver 2/ Crash course in romance - Shin Jae Ha But even that is a weak adoption I think mainly it's because I haven't had real strong feelings towards any dramas this year! Everything has been so-so. Can't say I've felt obessive in keeping up with any of them which means less likely to get attached to Oppas Also very few new actors turning up in thing things I've watched!
  9. Not sure if he's the same guy, but whoever that is above looks like Jasper if his face wasn't as long. Fandy Fan looks like this though...hahaha, nothing against him just making it clear, he is not my Oppa I haven't adopted any new Oppas this year?! Who is your latest love? I have missed you all too I have a Twitter friend, Milk Tea (you might have seen her around. She seems to love Taiwanese dramas too) who loves them soooo much. She loved them from their previous drama together, so might be worth checking out if you're a fan of them 2 Hahaha I ended up finishing because Lee Je Hoon and Chae Soo Bin look so pretty together and have a cute romance. The storyline was pretty fast-paced and good to follow, though I don't know if I liked some of the character's reasonings for why they wanted to do what they wanted to do. I agree - Chae soon Bin is good in her other dramas. Thanks for the recommendations - I've seen both before! I really liked her in I'm not a Robot and I saw A Piece of Your Mind a little while ago though I was very irritated by the 2nd leads and side characters in that drama.
  10. @wink_ @Hermespups Hello! I shall be watching too because I am a sucker for vampire dramas. (See what I did there)
  11. I am too! The original was such a good drama that I don't know how I'm going to feel about this one. I feel like Kdrama fans who do not watch other Asian dramas will love it given the big name leads, but I personally loved the original cast and characters too much that I don't think I'm going to be able to equate them. I think if I choose to watch, I will have to do thinking that it's a different drama anyway and not a remake. I did not want to open it. I'm protesting Well, this drama will be controversial either way if you're for or against it. I tried to be open minded when they announced a Kdrama remake and mentioned on Twitter that on the bright side at least Kdrama land has a lot of money to try to make it pretty. Wow, a stan of SOOD had a go at me...and it was stupid because clearly my entire twitter shows me being a big fan of the original SOOD series. You can't even try to be positive about it My only hope will be that this Kdrama leads people to watch and appreciate the original series...and maybe it'll lead to more promo events with the original crew Hahah don't worry JYB's stan will fight back. I'm already seeing early signs of fan waring. Hahaha I'm with @Tofu that he doesn't match the role, but Im grudging tempted to watch after seeing this still Wow, they haven't announced a date yet?! Hahahaha can't believe you read the spoilers!!! Hahaha I'll also be tagging you if I watch because I'll need someone to complain to when the scenes are not right or when they change anything (wich will probably be everything)
  12. Guyssss, I think I'm ready to come back . I feel bad for disappearing but it's been overwhelming. So much happened over the past few months - the main issue I had (which started during the pandemic) has mostly been resolved. My arm is slowly on the mend. I've been watching dramas but only a few things very slowly - I made it all the way through The Good Bad Mother and I'm catching up on Black Knight now. I've been feeling so tired lately - just very low on energy - but hopefully it's not an issue. @mademoiselle Thanks for putting me onto the The Good Bad Mother - it was at times a difficult watch because how hard can one person's life be?! But I thought this was one of LDH's better projecs in that I was interested in it Also I finally finished an old drama. Where Stars Land . I had been avoiding it for awhile because I heard the female lead was annoying. But aside from the first 2-3 eps where she was kinda annoying, I found her to be pretty likeable. I love Lee Je Hoon as usual but I actually found it a little annoying that he didn't have the patience to heal himself so he could be with her long term (though he finally changed his mind in the end!!!) Overall I liked the drama though and the romance was cute. Rowoon was also so different back then...his voice!!! And he was more slender? Now hs has such a built physique What's airing in June? I heard of a vampire romance and I am in. I've always had a weak spot for vampire stories @abs-oluteM How are you? What are you currently watching in June? I just saw your post on Mi Joo and Kang Ho. I liked them too. Such a challenging romance too. Watching how they struggled for their love kind of puts me off love because it looks like hard work @Tofu How have you been ? I feel like you tagged me in a few things. I need to go exploring on JH again. Any drama recommendations? This is probably going far back in the year, but did you end up seeing the Someday Or One Day movie? In the end I watched it like 3 times (well at least once more and then I bought tickets to 2 other sessions which I didn't watch) when I was in Korea because there were a lot of freebies each week promoting the movie and I wanted them all! Will you watch the Korean remake?! @SilverMoonTea I thought of you today because I saw this drama poster as a tiny thumbnail and I thought it was a new Puff and Jasper drama But it's not It's some guy called Fandy Fan and front- on he does NOT look like Jasper. I've never seen his stuff and don't think he's for me personally, but I'm kinda tempted to watch this coz I also like the 2nd female lead and it's been awhile since I watched a Taiwanese drama all the way through. Did you end up finishing Delivery Man btw?! I watched it all and quite liked the drama. They were a cute ghost and human couple. I ened up forgetting about Heavenly Idol though
  13. Hello friends! sorry it's been so long since I last checked in -I've hurt my arm and I'm not suppose to type much hopefully it'll heal soon anf I can hang out here again. Been really behind it dramas latey too. Only just finished Taxi Driver and Call it Love. What's everyone watching? And what's everyone's top recommndation at the moment? Anyway miss you guys!!!
  14. Wow I admire people who can rewatch things 3 times!!! I'm generally not a rewatcher because I have too many things to rewatch, I like it when people cut out clips of the best parts to save me from rewatching though! @mademoiselle ahhhhh I miss All of Us are Dead. I want the second season already Has Lomon been in anything since then? @Tofu I've always liked him but yeah he's really hitting the aesthetics lately. LJW is just everything YESSSSSSS I LOVVVVEEEEEEEEE THEM @mademoiselle Can't believe that they're coming back for a cameo as a pair Their chemistry was on fire and I loved that they still always sent each other food trucks or would mention each other or that drama from time to time. And I'm interested in the new series too! I loved Lee Yoo Mi in Squid Game too and was wondering when she would get a big role. I'm excited and hoping the series will be better written in terms of storyline than the original (though MinMin couple made me love the original despite story dragging with the subplot) Agree 100%!!! I felt like the gangster storyline took too much away from the main storyline towards the end... I know right...I just want to see them together again It would be cool if they did do a drama pairing LJW and Hye Yoon as different characters. I feel like they get along so well and they''d be able to pull of the chemistry for sure. I also haven't really cared much for Hye Yoon's dramas since Extraordinary You whereas I think I've watched every LJW drama. Sure I like him, but I also think he picks good series to be in. He has a few confirmed dramas actually. I'll need to check if there's threads otherwise I should start some. But it might be cursed because I tend not to write in the threads I start for some reason!!! I think it's because there's lots of things I want to say and post but then I procrastinate and then the next week comes around...too much pressure has made me avoid threads by accident Is she from The Glory ? Isn't he too young for relationship confirmation news? Normally the young ones try very hard to hide their dating statuses Hahaha I would support only because I would get to see him ALL. THE. TIME Haha, a few of my friends have younger partners...one her boyfriend is 4 years, but the other her boyfriend is 6-7 years younger! But the boyfriend is quite mature looking and is a thoughtful guy. But I think sometimes if the personalities match then it's better than if they're the same age! Wonder if requests to do this kind because he prefers it?!?
  15. This is actually on my watch list! But I haven't started yet...I have te opposite problem @SilverMoonTea...too many dramas to watch and no time I caught up on Call it Love to the latest episode yesterday. Catching up on Taxi Driver tonight. Definitely haven't watched Heveanly Idol since episode 2?...And new dramas keep popping up that I'm like, I need to get into this!!! Have you found anything interesting to watch lately? Changes her mind a lot that one! Oh no, don't tell me that...I can'e deal with annoying leads Hahaha, what happened to your love of romances that are barely romances? @mademoiselle Late answer to your question - I sprainned my ankle like 12 years ago and it still occasionally hurts a little if I've been using that foot too much. I think it's just never going to be the same unfortunately. I did go to accupuncture to try to fix it though. Hahaha @Chocolate I don't mind my screaming, I just don't like other people's screaming THERE IS A SPAM MUSEUM?!?! If you're talking about the highly processed meat, I love that stuff. not the junk mail! I agree with this! I don't randomly scream when stars are singing too. Those fan girls really get to me. I think it's ok to make noise when they ask for it like if they tell a joke or ask for the answer to a question. I'm glad this new baby of mine is getting the attention he deserves even though he seems to be evil in every series I've picked up with him in it... Why have I even adopted him as Oppa huh? Oh right, because he looks cute while being the bad guy
  16. Episodes 1-6 Guys! I'm on episode 6 and I just LOVE Yoon Jun I was sold in like the first 5 mins when I saw Sung Joon and Lee Sung Kyung appear on screen. This guy has the BEST voice and damn, Yoon Jun is such a funny character with that chill, but deadpan humour. I'm so glad Sung Joon is back as an actor because it's been such a long break he's taken. (Not that I watched a lot of his dramas admittedly after Shut Up Flower Boy Band But hey, I still missed him. Although I really hated the drama Lie to Me, he got me real good as the second lead in that ). I'm up to the part where Yoon Jun brings the brother clothes and admits he was just acting upset when talking to Woo Joo I really like Yoon Jun's interactions with all the siblings and wish I had a close friend like him At first I didn't think I'd be into this drama, but maybe I'm just in the mood for misery again. because I like how raw everything is in this series. I feel like this sits in that misery-slice-of-life genre like My Liberation Notes, but it's somewhat lighter with the characters being a bit more likeable on the whole (or at least I can see where Woo Joo and her sibling's crazy behaviours come from.) Like the older sister in that series, Hye Sung is super needy and trying to fill a void for love. Also similar is Woo Joo who is as miserable and internally frustrated/ angry as Mi Jeong to begin with I don't blame Woo Joo as it's a really horrible thing her father did and the stepmother is a nasty piece of work...but I find her character to be so overly emotional that it makes me cringe sometimes. Like she presents so hard as cold and abruot, but she doesn't quite think logically about how best to get her stepmother back. Making a scene at a funeral doesn't work unless you can really one-up someone. Also throwing herself in front of a car?! Why would you hurt yourself when you can polish yourself up and get revenge But the gradual character development is great. I like that the drama shows that there's a fine line between love and hate. And the more she spends time with Dong Jin, the more she comes to see that his life is just as miserable as hers. I find Dong Jin to be more relatable with his people pleasing, self punishing ways (although his behaviour is to the extreme!) and I just love how Kim Young Kwan portrays him. Man, the way his character looks at Woo Joo is something! His ex-girlfriend is ery annoying though. How shameless can you get coming back expecting to slip into their lives after cheating to the point of almost marriage?!
  17. @Tofu @mademoiselle So I not only contiued watching this drama, I actually really got into it and actually ended up really liking it a lot I converted from skeptic to fanatic. Episodes 1-12 I liked this drama because the story was relatively fast paced and all the characters were quite likeable, except for the bad guys who were quite evil (which is the way I like my evil people to be). I'll say that it took me at least 2-3 episodes before I got into it - the editing/ directing wasn't the greatest which is why I feel the first couple of episodes weren't as interesting as they could be. For example, they weren't very good at doing transitions (ie. each episode started with a prologue, but they weren't very clear at indicating this. They also liked to do spoof scenes of other movies like Parasite and The Truman Show but sometimes you couldn't tell if it was actually part of the real events or just a daydream.) And the acting of certain characters like the parents or other workmates were sometimes toeing the line to being too silly. BUT there was something charming about all the characters and I liked how most of the main characters were portrayed as having a potentially sinister side - you couldn't always tell who was going to be good or bad. The cliffhangers were good and even though you knew who the main bad guys were, I thought it did a good job of keeping a sense of mystery and things to figure out. There wasn't heaps of romance, but it was wayyyy better than the love line in Love All Play. I quite like the actress and her character was pretty cool - she was able to solve problems and developed as a person and love interest. They had a good kiss in episode 10 or so But most importantly...Chae Jong Hyeop makes for a hot CEO. Put him in more suits, pls
  18. True! I think even years afterwards, it'll always be packed. I feel like Ghibli is pretty much Japan's version of Disney in terms of popularity. Well, hope you get to go one day Hahaha no one in real life would understand my level of fan girling Or at least they might understand that that's me, but they wouldn't be able to share in it. I totally understand what you mean with fan girl's screaming. Like it's ok if it's because they're gettiing close or something...but often they just yell when they're talking I went back to read what the comment was and it's because you typed LJW instead of LJS and so I was like I wonder why LJW went to Nagoya So true. Sighhh, I'm stuck trying to sync good times in either Malaysia, Singapore or Taiwan when a star I like decides to do one. But it's so hard to get the perfect time Hahahaha so you're not selling dramas or trapping innocent people to watch anymore? I'm watching Heavenly Idol by the way! I just haven't really typed anything anywhere because I'm usually busy or when I have time I'm so lazy/ tired. Not sure what's gotten into me lately. I feel like I'm at a weird point in my life. Anyway Heavenly Idol is so funny and weird. I'm actually enjoying the silliness of the series. It actually just reminds me of a more fantasy version of Business Proposal - super comic-like ideas. But the humour works ok for me - I laughed at his obsession with those tribute chocolates and the fact he was so offended at unbuttoning his top and acting evil for a photoshoot Did you watch all the episodes of Crash Course in Romance and just not watch the last episode??? I feel like most people are the opposite - just want to know the end! Fair enough. I'm enjoying season 2 - I don't think the story telling is quite as good as last season, but it's still warm and funny and I just like Lee Je Hoon
  19. Hmmm, did he go to the army? Or did he recently get a better agent? I can't really say I ever noticed him until recently where he's now kinda being evil everywhere But it looks like he was second lead a few years back?
  20. That's right @SilverMoonTea He is my Oppa! I've decided to start Heavenly Idol because I'm up to date with with Taxi Driver and I want to know what his first lead role is like though I hear it's kinda weird I feel like I'm sold now that you've said he's charming...these gifs are cute too Rowoon is the second lead in Where Stars Land?!?! I downloaded a few episodes for the plane ride home, but didn't get around to it. I feel like I'm always busy now. But I'm not sure why. Maybe it's due to the exercising. Since the start of the year I've been putting more time into health care which is good...but definitely takes tim away from dramas Hahahaha, and here I was thinking you were asking for a watch buddie when you tagged me...if I start it, hope that means you won't drop it
  21. Oooh were you wanting to go to the new theme park or the old museum? I'm so keen on that theme park but it seems too popular at the moment! Hahaha I loved Yong Hwa in Heartstrings too. That was like the deepest crush I had on him...and then it sorta faded out except for every now and then when he has a project This is soooo true! I'm always surprised by the lack of actors that come to Malaysia and do public fan meets or even paid one. It was sad that LJW cancelled his public, shopping centre fan meet in Malaysia, but he ended up doing one in HK as well as a paid fan meet (ie. 2 fan events) But yeah, the closest they seem to get is when they decide to go to Singapore Nahh, LJW didn't bring his fan meet there. He was the ambassador for tourism between Malaysia and Korea and they changed the event so the only way you could enter was to get in a draw from buying a Malaysia Airlines plane ticket to Seoul. So expensive just to get into a draw! Definitely no fan meets where I am. Kpop concerts are in my city, but it's a shame I'm not into Kpop Hahahaha no, I like going by myself so that no one sees me at my worst fangirliest self Not that I've ever been to a paid Korean fan meet. The Taiwanese ones have always been chill and free (except for my plane ticket there) I will pressure you to go to a Chae Jong Hyeop one when he becomes a big star
  22. Hahaha I'm going to check out some of these dramas when I get a chance. I started Prison Playbook awhile ago, but you know when you're watching the first episode and then get distracted and so you don't get invested...that's what happened to me. But I feel like it's something I'd love if I got into it, so I'm still going to watch it one day! Hahaha, I went to both Petite France and Nami Island. I actually don't mind Petite France and the Italian Village, but I was only there for an hour. It's cute, but it just seemed a bit dated. Nami Island is pretty, but at the tail end of winter it was a little sludgey with melted snow. I did the zipline into the island which was fun and we followed the animals around (there were lots of rabbits and a white peacock), but I don't know if there was that much to do at Nami Island either. I also didn't watch Winter Sonata, so I didn't have the drama nostalgia that a fan would have if they visited. The place I liked the most was The Garden of Morning Calm. Apparently they shot scenes from The King's Affection there. The garden doesn't have many flowers in the winter so they put on a huge light show instead. It was my favourite part of the tour. Oh you found the clips with Shin Jae Ha in it! I am hghly tempted now!!! Actually, as you might know I do like dramas with classical music themes so this is up my alley. I just kinda avoided it though during the Jisoo school bullying era. But I think the punishment has been served and now I actually like one of the actors in the drama soo... Hahaha Nagoya reminds me of Melbourne! But to be fair I personally didn't do annything there except visit a friend who was living there. But it felt peaceful and kind of slow. Wow, wonder why all the stars choose to go to Nagoya? Are you going to Japan too @mademoiselle??? How was Hokkaido @abs-oluteM? I think of the above, that's the only city I haven't been to, but hopefully next trip I can make it out that way. And maybe Kobe for BBQ. Always thinking of my stomach
  23. Yeah I also wasn''t super into the first episode, so didn't really contnue, though also just didn't have access to it on my travels since it wasn't on Netflix (easy to download episodes for the plane). But yeah, hopefully third time lucky with CJH's recent projects. I think the last thing I really liked him in was The Witch's Diner and it wasn't even a very long series But I've liked almost all of Park Eun Bin's projects that I've seen, so hopefully if she's picked to be in it, it's a worthy project for him as well Hahaha they were everywhere! This was a whole display at a phone store we kept walking past. It was set up for photo taking so I didn't feel too weird going inside to take a pic with it I feel like LMH and Song Joong Ki I've seen here. Too bad they're not my Oppas. I like the lesser known ones
  24. I'll definitely check this one out! I was excited since I heard the news @Tofu. I love both PEB and CJH and also they've worked together before in Hot Stove League, though their characters were not super close. He was such a rookie actor then. I remember watching him and thinking this guy is cute. And now he's opposite PEB! I think they've started doing poster shoots or something because I saw this drama location that someone saw PEB at and people were visiting it? Not 100% sure but it seemed related to this. I agree with you. I finished the badminton one, but I almost regret watching it entiirely. There's people who love it, but it really missed both the marks as a sports drama and a romance. As for Unlock the Boss I missed it entirely, but I sort of started episode 1? Maybe I'll finish it at some point...but not if there's better stuff currently on. And the closest I got to meeting CJH in Korea was taking a photo with this....
  25. I actually watched most of this on a binge on the plane home and so I only really have time to write what I thought about the last episode. I thought it was quite a cute ending. I wasn't overly invested in the romance, so while some people wanted more romance scenes, I was ok with what they provided and I thought CCY and HS's romance was very natural and realistic in many ways - not overly sappy, but flirty and caring. I think opposite to @mademoiselle I liked that they closed off Hae-E's romance storyline with Sunjae mainly because I thought Hae-E's behaviour in a relationship also mirrored her aunt's (ie. she's not mushy and she's not afraid to initiate) So I'm glad they included that scene. What I thought was random was GH suddenly taking an interest in Su-a in like the last episode!! I mean maybe not surprising since he knew that Hae-E would most likely not pick him and he seems to like smart girls. But was that even necessary?! I feel like that never resolved Su-a's storyline with her mental health and that bugged me. Like her mum was going to book a psych, but then she got caught up in expelling Sunjae and the affair with the dad and it was never expcitiedly explained if she went to therapy or just had to tough it up and get through the trauma herself To be honest, I picked up this drama less for the romance and more for the multiple storylines that happened with the various characters and the overiding school theme. Having gone to a competitive school, I also found it relatable and remember the pressure kids would put on themselves around exam times. Also the expectation that parents would have that their kids would become doctors. I don't think the Tiger mums here in the West are on the whole as bad as in Korea, but I have heard stories from friends. I have a friend who got into Law and her mum came to the uni to try to switch her into medicine. I thought everything was tied up nicely. Maybe a little toooo nicely. But there were 3 parts of storytelling that I didn't think were great: -I don't like how they handled the Mr JI storyline - there wasn't an investigation into what made him the way he was? Like his character felt flat in that he would just die if he couldn't protect CCY?! And while CCY did feel sad, I don't think they really showed as much grief as they should have given that the guy was his right hand man for a decade. -Also thought the storyline with all the problem mums were rushed? The main one being Hae-E's mum. I feel like she said she just wanted to go to Japan to get her mum to leave, but they never really 'resolved' it. Like all of a sudden Hae-E and HS were fighting and then...they just got over it without so much as a conversation? Same with Sunjae and his mum and Sua and her mum - did they ever get to voice their feelings? The parents never admitted that they should change or at least have an awkward talk with them about the immediate issues they were actually facing to close the loop? -The third is the education themes - they seemed to want to explore the issues with stress with the student fainting in CCY's class, but they never really looked deeply into it Yeah I agree it didn't really consider what it would be like to have a different education system or to show that life will be 100% fine even if you don't become a doctor (sure, you don't make a lot of money, but maybe you have your mental health and a happier, healthier lifestyle ) Overall, a fun series to watch, not the greatest thing I've seen, but it was still enjoyable and fun and made me laugh at times when CCY and the uncle were 'bonding' Yeah the writing was a bit off at certain part towards the end, sometimes really rushed, shoving in new events like Hae-E's mum. But at least it was a happy ending I guess!
