Dr. Romantic 3 낭만닥터 김사부 3 [2023]

Hahaha! I must have really disliked Jang Dong Hwa after last week's episodes because I avoided this thread all week.

Maybe YSJ won't cameo. That not-funny actor only mentioned Jang Dong Joo and Yoon Yoo Jung in episode 3, so maybe this time only them two will cameo.  In the final scene of episode 4 where they mentioned Doldam Hospital will only have Kim Sabu, Ah Reum and the two new doctors, I was really really thinking "Time for the S1 doctors to come back!" Obviously they wouldn't come back so soon. Hahaha

Noooooo!! He has to come back to cameo too! I would love to see all three of them back at Doldam together. I also thought it was time for the S1 doctors to come back too. LOL! It seems like Eun Tak stays back based on the preview?

I don’t completely agree with discharging that athlete just because he was faking it. Dr Jang had a point about consulting psychiatric - he seemed to be experiencing stress himself and could perhaps understand the boy’s reason for faking it. Even if they couldn’t treat him at the emergency department, there should have been a referral to a psychiatrist/counsellor or the situation made known to the coach.

This must happen frequently in real life because Doctor Cha also went over the same issue too -- the attending doctor disregarding the mental health of the patient.

This is the pre-released with subs

So now it looks like Doldam is split into two. Am glad my faves - have all stayed on with Kim Sabu.  But ultimately, the trauma centre was Kim's vision - so he would want experienced staff to establish the place too.  I am expecting  and would understand if Eun Jae chose to work with her dad. How can she not when her whole life she had wanted her dad's approval - plus its her dad. I wonder if it would impact her relationship with Woo Jin.

But hmmmmm @Tofu this fella is gonna make you more annoyed ...see how he's trying to push EunTak's buttons

Once I really really dislike a character, I only see the actor as that character (e.g. Lee Ji Hoon, the actor who played the crown prince in Alchemy, etc.). I am starting to feel the same about the actor who plays Jang Dong Hwa. I don't ever want to see him in anything. :GengarPout:

Wow, they started accepting patients in the trauma center before they learned the layout of the rooms? Even before they do a simulation to understand where things are? I guess these are not always needed but I think it's such an important part of patient safety.

@abs-oluteM I think the little girl is just mistaken with Kim Sabu.

I'm surprised the writer throws a punch at Eun Tak with Jang Dong Hwa as the potential love enemy. Eun Tak is a bit passive so I guess it's just to spice up the loveline. Again, much prefer to see him being jealous at, ahem, Do In Beom 😅🤭😂 (continuation of S2 scenario).

I was quite impressed with Cha Jin Man standing up for the doctor, but then it seems like Nurse Oh doesn't think so. I'm not sure in that circumstances, what is the right thing to do. Perhaps Nurse Oh just meant don't ruffle the lioness fur even more since she's grieving. However, I feel really sorry for Dr. Jang. I hate what is happening to him too but I understand the stake has to go high for the show to be interesting. I just hope this doesn't mean he needs to leave Doldam, or the show.

This episode was so refreshing because Jang Dong Hwa had less screentime. They should keep it like that...always. :heiboi:

I'm really happy that we finally got to meet Byeol. We've heard so much about her. The hospital administrator...I don't understand his rationale sometimes. How did he not know she was Jung In So's daughter? He's the only doctor with kids at Doldam.

Kang Dong Joo is returning! His gig in that other hospital drama is over, so that's why he's back.

By the way, was Yang Ho Joon really that pathetic of a doctor? I don't remember him as such from season two.

I'm speechless after the opening scene of Ep5 ...

I can't quite remember what's the opening... is it the BL scene

Yes he is. He's a bully too who bullied Woo Jin. I'm actually more annoyed with him and the Admin / Secretary Jang than Jang Dong Hwa. If the decrease of Jang Dong Hwa's screen time means increase of Secretary Jang's screen time then I'd rather not switch.

By the way, I know everyone hates Cha Jin Man and thinks he's unnecessary but I do think his character brought some social commentary on what real doctors go through into the storyline and it isn't so much just on the politics like in S2 (which is a rehash of S1). The issue about the doctors performing surgeries that has low percentage survival rate and how they are constantly being dragged into lawsuit are valid. From this perspective, he's just bit more focus on the doctors than the patients. The humidifier incident is also a real life incident as well (I was thinking of investing in one and now I'm scared 😅 coz I totally never thought humidifier could cause harm!).

I do feel that the writer brought a better story this time round than S2.

I don't mind scenes like this, but what I did mind was how long it dragged on. I get that they wanted he audience to think that the two residents were going to do something naughty but after a while, I was like, "Can we get to the episode already?"

I guess I meant pathetic as in did he really not know how to those major surgeries or help patients? He was always doing things to get Park Min Guk to look at him so I expected him to be a better doctor/surgeon (even if he had a shitty personality) than what he's shown so far in this season.

I am the opposite. I can tolerant ignorance (what the hospital administrators are), but I have very little tolerance for arrogance. Jang Dong Hwa is arrogant; therefore, he gets no sympathy from me. :niu:

I like this season a bit more too, but we'll see...it might become political later on.

I am shocked he needed Dr Jang to help him while attending to one of the emergency patients. How can a surgeon like him not know the basics ?

CJM's character isn't just a 2-D antagonist, which I appreciate. Too bad really that they had to use this actor.

I thought the recent episodes highlighted a very crucial difference in the philosophy between Kim Sabu and CJM. Kim is patient-centric, and I would love to have a doctor like this trying to save me. But being so unorthodox at times, invites more risks that could lead to career suicide. I was surprised that WooJin had 11 lawsuits against him in the past year - didn't expect the show to give a sense of realism like this. CJM , on the other hand, isn't wrong with the calls he made to not operate. Logically speaking, and based on the situation , I think many RL doctors would have done the same.

I think so too. My brother-in-law (who is a doctor) tells me that malpractice insurance is insanely expensive.

I'm beginning to think he spent the last three years not doing anything and pawning his work on other people.

I think it's because Doldam Hospital which always lack doctors and the doctors are required to help out in every areas especially the ER, they became more all-rounded, like Kim Sabu. Whereas Dr Jang came from the University Hospital, which allows him to be more specialised in his area and plus he decided to spend more time in ass-kissing and theoretical medicines - publishing papers and being a professor so he's not as hands-on. I've seen in other medical dramas where there are doctors who got promoted to a Professor in the hospital being portrayed as being less experience in surgeries than other surgeons, so he's that kind of doctor.

Maybe not 11 lawsuits but 11 cases where he's being investigated for potential malpractice. I quite like this development too, because we're always seeing the "more romantic" side of Doldam hospital and the boring politics, and weren't told of the reality behind all of their decisions and actions. Hence I appreciated Cha Jin Man's interference and perspectives in this aspect, if they can continue to address issues like this coupled with saving patients (or troubleshooting the patient's disease), it'd be way more interesting than S2.

These days I think anyone thinking of being a doctor is insane because it's really not worth the time - 7 years studying then you have to do residency and extra to specialise in a field. It's crazy amount of time spent on studying and learning and in the end, you don't even know if you'll pass the test and if you don't, you'll just be a GP.

And I always think most doctors would need to be at genius level to get that far. 😅 I've two boy cousins who studied medicine. One failed so is only a GP now, not sure if he'll try again. One failed during his studies and lost his scholarship so his whole study became void. Another friend's brother did medicine as well and he told me his brother wanted to quit too.
