Synopsis:

Seo Dong-Jae (Lee Joon-Hyuk) is a prosecutor and works in the Cheongju District Prosecutors’ Office. He is ambitious and places a priority on his success as a prosecutor. Nevertheless, he is not completely cold hearted as a person. Due to the label given to him as a corrupt prosecutor, his future as a prosecutor is not bright at all. While mired in trouble over a redevelopment case, he takes on a female high school student murder case. He begins to walk a fine line between his intuition as a prosecutor and instinct as an opportunist.

My dearest DongJae, the ultimate weasel and as expected , LJH  in the titular role plays him to perfection. I feel when in Stranger,  he was a rather misunderstood character. True he is self-serving, still is. But you can't really hate him, can you? I fell in love with LJH in this show, and became a fan.  

 

What I have seen so far is that DJ is really smart - an out of the box thinker but most weasels are...if not how to get your way out of sticky situations.     But here we also see that he isn't all about himself, that he is genuine about finding out the truth. But ofc, like the devil, PSW's character  comes and offers him the deal of a lifetime - tempting DJ who isn't exactly a fan of his superior and who had been recently overlooked for a promotion. Can't wait to see how low, or not, he will go.

 

Some subs are available out there but the airing schedule is kind of strange. It's a Mon-Tues show on TVN but those subscribed to TV-ing (TVN's OTT platform have exclusive release on the Thursday before.

It is on my to watch list. I haven't started. Thought with Stranger related drama, it might be better to wait so that if it ends up convoluted as Stranger 2, I can follow the story better.

@abs-oluteM I've been anticipating for this show to air and disappointed that it isn't available in my region (which is the US) yet. I read Paramount is expected to pick it up later. So sad. Love LJH so much and really wanted to see a more fleshed out Dong Jae. If you watch more, do keep us posted...

Have done 3 episodes, and loving every minute of DongJae in it. Only LJH can make an annoying character so lovable all at the same time. The truth is Dong Jae isn't so bad - in Stranger, we all knew he was well, self-oriented. He somewhat still is here. A lot of his decisions is still rooted on what will benefit him the most. But I think in this show, we get to see that he does have some principles too -as in there are some lines he isn't willing to cross and he isn't unfeeling towards the plight of others.

What is a real good test now is that ParkSungWoong's character has very cleverly laid a trap from years ago to get DongJae to do his bidding. Then when PSW transferred a land title to DJ ( with DJ all drunk and not paying attention) , he knew it would come in handy as a way to blackmail DJ .

 

 

Okay @peperomia @mademoiselle @UnniSara the episodes are relatively short about 50 or so minutes. LJH's expressions will make you laugh. He is so good.

Thanks for the shout out. @abs-oluteM I've watched a couple of episodes and enjoyed them thoroughly. Lee Joon-hyuk is reliably great in the role but the actual plot is so far quite intriguing. The set-up is good and the story seems to be connecting his past with the present. I'm not up to date because I've been watching Lost You Forever. I finally had time to binge watch the whole lot.

 

Poor Dong-jae. He desperately wants to be promoted but it seems to elude him. :P Park Sung-woong is playing the villain again.

I finished two episodes just now. Seo Dong Jae is hilarious!

 

Rather than worrying about him, I actually laughed at his bad luck. That said, it's also because I know he will be well and alive since we can't have our male lead dead in episode one. In episode two, I was even amused at his expression when he tries to persuade the killer.

 

Honestly, he's so sleazy that I actually thought he somehow hurt himself so that he would benefit from it. But he was truly hurt by the sickle.

 

I should watch this slowly so I can "collect" the rest of the four episodes. I can see from episode 2 onwards that there is another case happening in parallel, and I want to ensure I'm able to follow both, as I believe they might connect into one at some point later.

 

Actor Park Sung Woong always play gangster villain. Maybe because he's too darn good at it. However, 10 years ago, it seems like his character was not what he is now. Perhaps there is a chance of redemption, just like Dong Jae now is trying to be different. This is a story after Stranger 1 and 2, right?

 

I think it's a good, solid first two episodes. I did not expect comedy from this show. xD

@mademoiselle What confuses me is the airing schedule. Like on the unsavory site that I am using , 5 episodes are already subbed.  But technically ep 5  only airs tonight on TVN ? Anyhow , the show is super funny. It is more comedy than I had expected, but in a good way. The drug syndicate thing is brewing slowly at the side and handled by his senior colleague; but I am guessing that Dong Jae will be affected too.

Based on the airing dates from AsianWiki, TVING will air the new episodes first. Not sure 1 or 2 back to back. Then tvN will air on two separate days. C-subs is available until episode 6. That is why I mentioned collecting 4 more episodes.

@mademoiselle Unfortunately, I won't be able to any time soon because I don't have anywhere decent to watch it in my region. I'm really sad about this but glad it's good! Dong Jae deserves his own story. LOL.

 

Not sure what I'll be watching next, but I'm planning to catch Love Your Enemy with Ju Ji Hoon later this month. It's rom-com on Viki, not sci-fi on Disney, so I think it should be a safe JJH drama. LOL.

Oh, I'm aware of the one with JJH and PBY. I do plan to check it out - with caution of course. LOL.
