@mademoiselle Already done 3 episodes. I know he is like painted a little grey but I understand he's actually taking revenge right on that Pearl House place where she was kidnapped and raised? So sad to see the scene where she discovered who her mother really is and that mother being harsh on her was to protect her. Right now so much time on the 2nd lead...I had to watch like at 1.5 ahahah cause I just like to watch LYN scenes.

Yeah, Yan Zi Jing is not bad. He's just jaded and protecting Duan Wu in his own way (later when she goes on his ship).

The second male lead also not bad-looking! Love that both of them are super tall. I think this is another female centric drama, so a lot of it is on Lusi than the boys.

I had to ask if this is now the "drama trend", and with this, is the actress getting more paid than the actors? Coz no point making all the drama female centric when in reality, female is still at disadvantage in everything else in real life (including their values and worth in the entertainment industry).

LYN was doing a live broadcast last night. I watched a little here and there. It went on for a very long time. I don't know how he does it (or anyone for that matter). I can't imagine myself talking to a non-living thing (camera) for over 1-2 hours. CZY did over an hour of live broadcast on his birthday and that went on for an hour which fans just watch him eat and then he cut cake. I couldn't be bothered even though I could actually understand the whole content.

Does the pacing get better @mademoiselle? I find myself so uninterested in some of the stuff going on that I practically dozed off. But I know they are important to reveal the backstory and also future conflict. No hate against the 2nd lead but I need more scenes of the leads together.  :GrowDerp:

I am at ep 7

I’m at ep3. Is Mr Yan or Mr Zhang the ML?

Aiyo, the amount time used to explain and argue about getting on the boat, both mother and daughter could have left already before the Cui people arrived.

My thoughts exactly ahahahahahha

@mademoiselle I didn't give up. I really use 2x FF for some parts. I finished till eps 8 so far. Ep7 was not bad especially when he broke character and saved her during the competition. Then I went and watch FP2.

TBH, their fan service more exciting then the drama sometimes  :GrowDerp:

@Chocolate Both males are second lead in my opinion . Choco, are you watching this for Lusi or LYN or both?

BTW, I finished the novel that LYN and Song Zu Er starred in. The drama is named The Prisoner of Beauty. I think of you when I read it. Hahaha, I think this is your cuppa although both are Vs. Osmanthus Tea shared English translated novel in here.

Not sure if the drama would air due to Song Zu Er gotten into tax evasion scandal, but I see on weibo some said since she's been cleared of the scandal, it might air early next year. I hope so.

@abs-oluteM Oh yay, you got to the more interesting part. There are more LYN in that section of the story. Enjoy while you can because I'm at the latter part where it's all about Duan Wu and the villains.

We have to lower our expectation because this one, the story, characters and production are nowhere near LLTG's level. The side characters are not fun either. Haha.

@abs-oluteM Yeah, I'm expecting the finale on 22 Nov. 😆

I am already up to episode 32. Where are you guys at? Any chance of completing this?

Need to get this off my chest~

Spoiler

It's been not one but a fair few Chinese costume dramas I watch that the women's family don't even treat them well, but these women still sacrifice themselves for their stupid brother & family and sponsor them financially with their husband's money. I see this in LLTG (Shao Shang's grandmother does it. The horrible uncle's wife did it too. The Lady who was related to the Empress also died for her useless brother).

In The Pearl Girl, it is the same with Chui Shi Jiu (No. 19). The story tells us all her brothers were useless except her, but too bad she's a woman, so her father won't accept her for her capability. She went above and beyond (the wrong way) to help her family, and in the end, she gets absolutely nothing out of it. Even after her father passed away, she still wants to rebuild the Chui Family. All I can think of is, "For what and for whom?" Furthermore, there's also another female character who takes the blame for her idiot brother.

I just... I cannot with this kind of storyline 😅

Ep 34-35

Spoiler

I am not fond of the villains such as Zheng Wu Lang or Chui 19. But they weren't evil enough to warrant hatred against them, so I actually felt bad when Zheng Wu Lang died. 😅 Their love line would have been interesting if it has a spin-off because he's madly in love with her but she's not very expressive even though she loved him too, and she's too focused on restoring her family name and business.

@mademoiselle Tell me if open ending or bad ending. He didn't die, did he?  That's all I need to know.  :psweatduck:

Spoiler

In summary, BE for OTP.

It is an open ending for the death part, because his death wasn't played out. It is assumed he died because there was no antidote. It ended with Duan Wu asking him not to leave and they hugged. Flashbacks come in and then a bit of time jump where Duan Wu becomes the Head of the Jewellers with Zi Jing or Tang Qu nowhere to be seen.

@mademoiselle I hate Youku...they love doing these kind of things

I can guarantee The Prisoner of Beauty will be a happy ending, since I have read the novel. Hahaha!

The script was already shared on Little Red Book, but I was not sure if it is trustworthy and whether they would change the ending because there were comments underneath saying they filmed 3 different endings. Funnily, the algorithm has been showing me a lot of LYN's clips and I came across a post saying LYN's characters have a high rate of death.

Did he die in The Journey of Love?

This is my second costume C-dramas with BE. I'm FF-watching Love Game Eastern Fantasy now; this is also Youku. I think it is also open ending.

P.S. I can foresee LYN's next live broadcast will be fans crying/complaining about it. xD He was already asked about it in that 5 hr+ ones and he didn't want to answer.
