Seok Ji-Won (Ju Ji-Hoon) and Yoon Ji-Won (Jung Yu-Mi) were born on the same day and in the same town. They also share the same given name of Ji-Won, but their families have been enemies for generations. They studied at the same schools, but, they were rivals and growled whenever they made eye contact.

 

During Seok Ji-Won’s student days, he was a cheerful person and good with education and sports. Due to his family's situation, he left his hometown with his family. Now, Seok Ji-Won is an adult and works as senior managing director at Seokban Construction. He returns to his hometown as the chairman of Dokmok High School, which he and Yoon Ji-Won attended. There, he reunites with Yoon Ji-Won, who works as a PE teacher. During her student days, she was called "Mad Dog," because she couldn't tolerate injustice or bad practices. She had to confront these situations and try to correct them. As she experienced more difficulties while becoming an adult, her "Mad Dog" tendencies have gone into hibernation. After reuniting with Seok Ji-Won, the old Yoon Ji-Won begins to emerge again.

I am enjoying the series a lot. The bickering is fun and for now I like that they are at the enemies stage. I love the younger version too - and they have fantastic chemistry. The young guy is a rookie - think this is only his 2nd drama.

Thank you thank you!!!....  I was debating whether to open or not, because I do have things to say about it... but I'm pressed with time. Stayed up till past midnight and woke up real early to watch ep.4 before I started my day, haha...

 

I love the flashback a lot. It reminds me of When My Love Blooms, where the story of their younger version made up quite a bit of the narration. And these young stars are so great and natural in their roles! I really didn't expect that their back-street relationship was actually quite deep already. The pettiness, jealousy, insecurities, misunderstandings and arguments were so realistic too while they were dating. It's so sad to see them miss the chance to meet again because each was trying to get to the other in their own way. They remembered the promises they made, just bad timing. Urgh, not to mention the sabotaging from so-called best friend. And I also didn't expect Seok at the hospital. I kept wondering why he was with bruises at one of the instances, until I read someone speculated that he went to beat up her ex-boss. That was really poignant that he was guarding and minding her quietly. Giving her space (since "she" "asked" for it), yet not able to just leave her alone.

Yeah, I'm alright seeing them bicker. I LOL'ed at a lot of their encounters, especially the back-hug. But I do see a lot complained about it being too much and OTT. I thought that was a given with the story. If all is well and resolved, and people communicating, we will see no more drama and story will be finished by 6th episode, lol... I believe the bickering will subdue slowly and they will start to reconcile the family, otherwise, how are they going to be together in the end. No one knows they dated before. Looking forward to the kisses when their romance starts, coz we know these two don't hold back 

 

What do you guys think of the relationship between school doctor and the female student? I hope it's the familial kind, not some kind of secret affair.

@abs-oluteM Thanks so much for the thread! @ktcjdrama I'm really glad you’re enjoying it so far. You highlighted everything that I like about it.

 

Love the younger version too. The extended flashbacks are just lovely in the storytelling. I haven’t seen When My Love Blooms, but their younger selves made me think of Nam Ji Hyun and Kang Ha Neul in Angel Eyes. Similarly, the actress and actor playing the Ji Wons are very convincing in their portrayals and I think they have a lot of potential. I'll be sad when the younger version tapers off but also excited for their current selves to pick up too.

Yes, their misunderstanding and separation really broke my heart. I hope their current selves will find out every little detail of the missed opportunities in the past – Namsan tower, scarf, phone calls, hospital. I had a feeling it was SJW who saved the two on the hospital rooftop and it turned out it was him. I can’t wait for YJW to know this.

Oh I am glad I am not the only one getting that weird vibe. I am assuming it is just some sort of red herring. It will be weird to see such a romance especially when the girl is still in school - lots of moral line will be crossed here.

@peperomia I just completed eps 5. I was laughing so hard for most of the episode. In my mind I kept thinking why did it take so long for JJH to return to rom-com. I just love how petty they are  .  I do find myself shedding some tears every time they show young SeokJiWon's scenes. Knowing that he's always looked out for her and how much he's missed her over the years. 

 

Ooo but that bestie of hers is too awful. Does YunJW not realise it?

@abs-oluteM Ditto. The comedy is great and JJH is killing it here. He should really consider doing more rom coms. Yes, the pettiness is hilarious but nice that there's some heaviness from the leads' history together. I find myself shedding some tears too, especially with young SJW's scenes. We know the two loved each other at such a young age, but with him, you can really see and feel the magnitude of his love for her. I just can't wait until they find out the complete truth about the past.

 

The bestie, Cha Ji Hye, is awful. Unfortunately, I don't think YJW realizes it yet. She picked up that CJH can be cold with her at times, but she doesn't know why. CJH was nervous at the sight of YJW's old cellphone. I wonder if there's still traces of SJW's calls and messages on there. Maybe with current technology, there's a way to recover them.

 

I feel bad for the SML too. I don't think he stands a chance here 

By the way, I didn't expect a kiss  I liked how it happened. It was so sad to see him not able to grab ahold of her face in his dream so waking up to see her next to him must've been emotional for him. Again, I just wish she knew the context of everything.

Uh-oh, the "bestie" just couldn't lay low and now will risk getting find out, hopefully along with what happened in the past... Good for her! Ha!.... How difficult it is to see and know that a guy is not interested in you at all? Not to mention he's told her directly... Urgh!

This whole part was quite comical. I thought her grandpa would walk in on the kiss, but she managed to lock the door by extending her leg/toes. Poor SJW on the floor though. LOL. But yeah, she was flustered and at the same time upset that he didn't remember the next morning. The way she kept looking at his lips. LOL.

Me too. I like how the lilac flowers correspond to SJW's dream. Maybe symbolic of a second chance in real life? I was also sad (and disappointed) that he told YJW that his reason for dating her is to dump her, but I don't think he means it. Looks like his lost efforts in trying to reach her through phone calls retriggered some trauma from losing contact with her in the past. He thinks was rejection and cutting of ties with him when all is a misunderstanding and sabotage.

@ktcjdrama @peperomia am travelling on holiday. Managed to just watch this during my flight.  I am glad we got the 2nd lead confession out of the way and that it was swiftly turned down. No matter what, with a love triangle, that was bound to be addressed. What I really need now is for her to discover what a rotten friend her so called bestie has been. 
 

I am so looking forward to their dating era !!! I know he told her he plans to “throw” her away …😹😹…the more crazy stuff they say to each other the stronger their feelings are .

I think the pacing of the story is just right. I’m happy the Ji Wons realized their feelings for each other never changed and are dating for real now. They’re so cute! Unless I missed it, my only complaint is I wanted them to talk about what happened in the past and in details. Their younger selves' missed opportunities were so heartbreakingly beautiful. Hoping they'll be tabled for more reveal later. I mean, YJW still needs to find out about Cha Ji Hye’s sabotage, right? Also, she and KMS need to find out it was SJW who saved them on the hospital rooftop. The three have a connection.

 

Looks like Ji Gyung Hun might be playing YJW’s grandpa as he appears to be working with SJW’s father? As usual, I have a wild theory...

He’s good with cars. I have some suspicion that he might’ve tinkered YJW’s parents' car which caused the fatal accident. Also, he might’ve framed her father in the embezzlement. SJW’s father might’ve been involved too as he likely wanted revenge. From an earlier episode, there was a flashback of a hospital emergency room scene. I think it was from YJW’s parents’ accident. Ji Gyung Hun was heartbroken, but SJW’s father looked at him strangely. If this turns out to be true, there will some sad scenes coming up.

 

I have to say...I loved the way SJW hugged YJW so tightly during their kiss scene. JJH's arms...oh my!

@peperomia @ktcjdrama I watch the recent episodes on my flight last night and I was so happy at the end of eps 7 when he said to stop the silly bet and to date for real!!!! I was in tears...TBH this show doesn't have an overly complicated plot but there is something very sincere about the feeling they both have . It's clear nothing has changed for them in the past 18 years.

 

I think the bestie or so called bestie will redeem herself and not lead his father to the room where they are. I appreciate that SJW is giving her a chance to fess up to YJW herself.

Yes to this. Honestly, I wasn't expecting them to date for real by the end of ep 7 so I too was happy how he nixed the bet. (He totally ate his words about how he wanted to date her so that he could dump her, but we all know he didn't mean any of it to begin with. LOL.) Agree plot isn't overly complicated, but the love story of the Ji Wons is very sincere, even pure, which is nice to witness as a viewer.

Oh, I think you're right that she won't lead his father to their room and great point about SJW giving her a chance. SJW's kindness may have touched her and what leads to her change.

Tbh I was surprised with this drama? Lowkey amusing. The first few episodes kind of questionable for me, I'm not too into their younger version and was happy when JJH appear more later on. I also think he nailed the comedic role and I think he's one of the actor that can looked good with any ladies he paired up with. Eventhough my favourite will be of him and Han Hyo Joo in Blood Free, they looked so good together.

I just caught up. The impromptu proposal in the attic was so sweet! I loved that all along it was SJW who anticipated proposing to YJW, but in that very moment, it was her who said let’s spend the rest of their lives together first. He was so happy and of course, agreed. I liked that she already knew and was already on the same page with him. Love these two so much!

@SilverMoonTea Glad you're watching and here! I enjoy the drama for it's simplicity. Initially, I had doubts about whether it would be a true rom-com, but it hasn't disappointed me. It's been a joy and much laughter. I'm going to miss JJH after this because you're right that he nailed this role, especially his comedic parts. Honestly, I could watch him in this as an on-going daily/weekend drama, but we only get 2 more episodes. Sigh... Hoping he'll partake in another rom-com in the near future. At least, we'll get to see him a medical drama in January. I heard he'll be working on a political thriller next.

He's one of the most busy actor recently. Did you watched his Light Shop? It was too strange, so I dropped it , and he only appear like few minutes on each episodes too lols. 

 

I completed a lot of JJH drama : Mask, Kingdom, Blood Free are the most notable of his work for me. 

 

Love Your Enemy have a predictable story line, but still I think the interaction between all the characters quite organic. The grandpa, his father, his secretary and all other teachers quite amusing to watch, but of course without Ju Ji Hoon I will not even be here at the first place 😂

I watched Light Shop. I thought the first half was strange and scary, but everything came together and made sense in the end. The revelations were quite good. For me, it was worth watching for JJH. His story made me cry.

Me too. I've seen everything of his works since Princess Hours. I think Mask is my favorite, then probably Hyena. I've even seen his variety show, Bros on Foot. The man can act and cook!

Which episode did you decide to drop? U need to persevere till episode 4 at least. I actually like it. The story-telling was unique. 

 

I like the latest episodes. Their colleagues in the school are hilarious... so supportive of them. So much so that it's rather intrusive, hahahaa... One of my favorite scenes is when they were at the rooftop, when he extended his arms wide for a hug, and she hit him a bit before falling into his arms 

 

I'm not liking the preview though... hope nothing serious happens to Grandpa.
