SEOUL, June 27 (Yonhap) –- Famous Korean actor and actress couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are expecting a baby.

Son Ye-jin uploaded on to her Instagram saying that “I would like to share a happy news with my loving fans in a very careful manner, my loving husband and I are expecting a baby.” on Monday.

Korean Actress Son Ye-jin has expressed her feeling by saying “I am worried and excited at the same time to witness the changes in my body day by day." adding “Though it is such a blessing I feel very careful of sharing such news with people around me therefore I haven’t really shared this information with a lot of people.”

Moreover she added “We will protect the lovely life that has bestowed upon us.” showing her love for the child.

According to Son Ye-jin’s agency, since she is at her early stages of the pregnancy they will not disclose the exact months of her pregnancy.

South Korean actor and actress Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are the same age, they have dated for 2 years since 2020 and recently got married on March of 2022.

Both actor and the actress met on the set of the Korean movie “The Negotiation” in 2018 and “Crash Landing on You” and gradually became lovers.

Back then, and again recently, a fan/fans posted that Hyun Bin "auditioned" for the role. Using just a little common sense, they should know this is an incorrect statement, or at minimum a doubtful one.

 

In 2017 when the movie was filmed, HB was already an established and popular actor. His acting skill is known. A director either thinks his style is suitable or not, there is no need to test him through an audition. It would be quite insulting/disrespectful for any director to make such a request. And especially not by a new director - not disparaging Director Lee but he would definitely not have said "I want HB but he has to audition first". 🙄

 

When you read it with the Director's statement, which is well known to all fans, I cannot understand why some fans still insist on saying he auditioned, and write it as if it is fact. Even if they had read it somewhere, they should use their brain and ask themselves, could the author of the article have made a mistake or could it be mis-translated.

SEOUL, Aug. 9 (Yonhap) -- It's a crime thriller again. Still, "The Negotiation," set to open next month, is drawing attention for being the first work between Hyunbin and Son Ye-jin, two of the Korean film industry's hottest actors, for a film from JK Film, the studio behind such box office hits as "Haeundae," "Ode to My Father" and "Confidential Assignment."

 

The new crime thriller tells the story of a police negotiator striving to save two Korean hostages after they were kidnapped in Bangkok by an arms dealer from an international crime ring.

 

"When I first received the script, I read it in one breath," Son said during a press conference for the upcoming movie at a Seoul theater on Thursday. "I was so curious about what will happen next in the story all the way through reading it. The script was overwhelmingly tense and immersive."

 

Son is best known for romantic films such as "Be With You" (2018), "A Moment to Remember" (2004) and "The Classic" (2003), while Hyunbin recently appeared in "The Swindlers" (2017), "Confidential Assignment" (2017) and "The Fatal Encounter" (2014).

Hyunbin said he was interested by the movie's subject of negotiation, which has never been dealt with in Korean films. "I thought the one-on-one confrontation between the captor and the negotiator was fun, and that's why I chose to be part of the movie."

 

The 20th feature from JK Film will be the directorial debut of Lee Jong-seok, who was the assistant director of "Ode to My Father," a historical drama seen by 14.26 million people since it opened in local theaters in 2014. He later wrote the script for the mountaineering adventure film "The Himalayas," which also became a commercial success, drawing an audience of over 7.7 million.

 

Lee said he was very fortunate to work with the two top stars. "I wrote the script with the two in mind from the beginning. I thank them for choosing to appear in my film."

The most important element he thought about in making the film was how to elevate tension with limited spaces and time, the director said.

 

Since the hostage taker named Min Tae-gu (played by Hyunbin) and the negotiator Ha Chae-yoon (played by Son Ye-jin) each stay in Bangkok and Seoul, respectively, they can see each other only on screen monitors. And Ha is given only 12 hours to save the hostages.

 

 

What the director chose to overcome the time and space limit was so-called simultaneous dual filming, a method of shooting in two locations at the same time to allow actors to react to each other's acting on a real-time basis while looking into their monitors.

 

"At first, it was a bit awkward," Hyunbin said. "When I was acting face to face, I could hear and see the other actor's breathing and fine movements. It was strange that I had to hear my counterpart's voice only through an in-ear headphone and catch every movement and emotion only on a small monitor. But I think the shooting method was a good choice for the film."

 

It also was the first time for the actress with a career spanning nearly 20 years to shoot that way.

 

Son said the fact that she had to act sitting in the same police monitoring room while looking into the monitor all the time put huge pressure on her.

 

"This, as a result, had a good influence on us. I think we could not have reacted that lively to each other's acting if the scenes had been shot separately."

Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin talked about what it was like to work with each other in their upcoming film “The Negotiation.”

 

On August 9, the film held a press conference ahead of its premiere, with director Lee Jong Suk as well as its two leads Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin present. The film follows hostage negotiator Ha Chae Yoon (played by Son Ye Jin) who begins a one-on-one negotiation with Min Tae Gyu (played by Hyun Bin), a criminal who is behind a huge hostage situation in Thailand.

 

When asked why she chose the film, Son Ye Jin answered, “The fact that Hyun Bin was positively reviewing the script for ‘The Negotiation’ was the deciding factor in my decision.” She continued, “I was surprised when I heard that he was looking at the role. It was different from the image Hyun Bin has shown as an actor so far. I thought it was great that he was using this role to take on a bold challenge.”

 

Son Ye Jin then talked about what it was like filming with Hyun Bin. She explained, “We filmed separately but simultaneously. We didn’t film a lot facing each other, but we had to work with each other by looking through the monitor. It wasn’t easy to film.” She added, “However, we’re the same age, and we debuted at a similar time. So we did have a sense of unspoken camaraderie. It’s because we had that kind of trust, that we worked well despite having to use a monitor.”

 

Hyun Bin also talked about Son Ye Jin and shared, “She was a reassuring presence. It was difficult and new to film separately and simultaneously. But I thought that Son Ye Jin was an actress that could alleviate all that.” He added, “She’s an actress with a great gaze. Even though we were acting through the monitor, I thought she was an actress who acted with her eyes a lot. Watching her easily expressing the tension, but also the delicacy amidst that, it didn’t feel like I was watching her through the monitor.”

 

“The Negotiation” will premiere in September.

There was a sense of comradeship that didn't work even if I didn't say it," he recalled.

Hyun Bin also said, "(Son Ye-jin) was as reliable as the seniors.
