Unlike his alluring outward appearance, he has a cold and expressionless face when he points the gun at someone. However, when he’s leading negotiations, Vincenzo has an easygoing smile and bright gaze.

 

 

As a level-headed strategist with remarkable negotiation skills, Vincenzo Cassano lives for revenge, always giving people a taste of their own medicine. He will transform into a dark hero who takes down evil with evil methods when he discovers a deep-rooted, villainous cartel upon his arrival in Korea. Already, viewers are highly anticipating Vincenzo’s refreshing way of taking down villains as well as Song Joong Ki’s transformation into his one-of-a-kind character.

 

 

Song Joong Ki shared, “I felt thrilled after coming across the script for the first time. It wasn’t a predictable story about good overcoming evil, and the method of punishing evil felt very new and refreshing. I think viewers will be able to feel the same thrill and catharsis.”

 

The actor added, “Although Vincenzo looks to be Korean on the outside, he’s Italian to the bone. Since he has always lived as a foreigner in the darkness, he’s a lonely figure who can’t even open up to people who are close to him. An interesting point in the drama will be Vincenzo’s change.”

Song Joong Ki decided to join Space Sweepers sans reading screenplay: Couldn’t let anyone else take the role

Space Sweepers releases on Netflix in February. Before the South Korean movie hits the platform, Song Joong Ki revealed how he became a part of the movie.

 

Song Joong Ki will be seen in Space Sweepers, releasing on Netflix next month. The South Korean movie was slated to release in 2020 in the theatres. However, owing to the pandemic, the movie is not set to release on the online. But before the movie could stream online, Song Joong Ki recalled how he became a part of the movie. The actor has previously revealed that he had heard about the project when he was filming with Space Sweeper director Cho Sung Hee's previous release A Werewolf Boy. 

 

Now, Song Joong Ki revealed that he had decided to join the team even before reading the screenplay of the movie. As reported by Zapzee, the actor said, "I truly believed in the director that I had decided to star in the work even before reading the screenplay. I wanted to do it no matter what. I thought that I couldn’t let anyone else take the role of Tae Ho.” It was not only Song Joong Ki who trusted director Cho Sung Hee. 

 

Space Sweepers' lead actress Kim Tae Ri echoed similar sentiments as Song Joong Ki when she said that she had a strong feeling he wanted to tell tales in his unique style. Describing as “shy and cautious, but very passionate about his work,” Kim Tae Ri added, “Watching his previous works, I strongly felt that he has stories he wants to tell and his unique style in unfolding them.”

1. “Nice Guy”

“Nice Guy” was Song Joong-ki’s first drama as the main lead. Of course, he was already popular having appeared in several well-loved dramas, movies, and variety shows. The 35-year-old actor showed a decidedly unique image in the drama “Arthdal Chronicles”. In fact, he portrayed two different characters named Eunseom and Saya. The fantasy story of various individuals and tribes seeking power in the ancient land of Arth is fascinating and previously unheard of amongst K-dramas. You naturally end up rooting for sweet Eunseom and Tanya (Kim Ji-won), but it was especially nice to see a muscular and rugged Song Joong-ki.

4. “Space Sweepers”

Song Joong-ki will be making his return through the space blockbuster movie “Space Sweepers” very soon! In this film, he’ll portray genius pilot Kim Tae-ho who is willing to do anything for money. Set in the year 2092, Kim Tae-ho and his fellow spaceship misfits chase after space debris for a living. They inadvertently come across a dangerous humanoid and attempt to make a large profit through a dangerous trade.

5. “Vincenzo”

Song Joong-ki will also be making a drama comeback via “Vincenzo” where he portrays a consigliere to an Italian mafia. He returns to Korea in search of treasure hidden by the mafia, but accidentally gets embroiled in a lawsuit against an evil conglomerate. As shown throughout his career, Song Joong-ki will bring to life a character different from all of his previous roles. tvN’s upcoming drama “Vincenzo” shared a thrilling second teaser video!

 

“Vincenzo” stars Song Joong Ki as Vincenzo Cassano, an Italian lawyer and Mafia consigliere who moves back to Korea due to a conflict within his organization. He ends up crossing paths with a sharp-tongued lawyer named Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin), and the two join forces in using villainous methods to take down villains who cannot be punished by the law.

 

The first teaser video upped excitement by giving a look at Song Joong Ki in character as he gave a chilling warning. The second continues to raise anticipation by previewing the extraordinary cast of villains who’ll be appearing in the show.

 

As the new clip starts off with a look at his past, Vincenzo Cassano says, “Evil is punished by evil.” He appears after having lived in the shadows, and the lawyer Hong Yoo Chan (played by Yoo Jae Myung) says, “I wish a real monster would come and wipe out all these bastards.”

 

The video also introduces Hong Cha Young, who teams up with Song Joong Ki while saying, “Let’s just decide on one rule. To not do harm to anyone’s life.” Intern lawyer Jang Joon Woo (played by 2PM’s Taecyeon) exclaims that he has a bad feeling about this, and his intuition turns out to be right, as Vincenzo Cassano shows his merciless, evil side while he points a gun at someone.

 

The clip also gives a look at a distressed Jang Han Seo (played by Kwak Dong Yeon), who is the president of Babel Group and a villain who is obsessed with winning. Vincenzo Cassano is further provoked when the heartless villainess Choi Myung Hee (Kim Yeo Jin) appears in the picture. He says, “I’m not here to negotiate, but to deliver a warning. I will never forgive such a despicable act.” The dark hero stands in front of a building and watches it collapse.

SJK: The burden was on the director. I was more excited. Felt like I was a child again. When I read the script, I felt like a kid. Like going on an adventure in outer space.

 

The role of Tae-ho keeps a balance. How did you approach the character? 

#SongJoongKi: When I first read the script, I thought Tae-ho was devastated, has lost hope in life, and has given up. While I was filming, I was in a similar state to Tae-ho. I still managed to put myself back together.

Tae-ho also found a glimpse of hope in the crew of Victory, who help him get back on his feet and finds fun in life again.
