Found another trailer but this time from ep 17-22. Ugh, I don’t like that our couple has already confessed their feelings for each other but now it looks like a Wanqing is getting pressure to marry Guang Yao 

 

I wonder what role Min Da Cheng is going to play in taking down Xo Bojun.

@Mouse I've been curious about the one preview where they get into an argument and she slaps him.  I wonder if it will turn out to be from a scene where they were putting on an act for others to see. 

 

Also, I've been curious about the identity of the guy with the glasses - the one where TXL says that he has to repay a favor even though he's now working for the south.  Because I could swear I've seen another clip of TXL with that man where he greets him happily.  Which makes me wonder if the happy greeting scene comes before one shown in the teaser clip you shared above (as in, TXL's happy to see this person again until he finds out what the person has come to see him about) or if it comes after... in which case I don't know why he'd look so happy, but I'm still wondering. LOL.

Our TXL is just being a jealous little boy.  Sooooo unreasonable and petty.  Haha.  I don't know if you guys have watched any BTS clips from this drama, but Oliver Chen plays the jealousy through to even off-screen times and it's pretty cute/funny.  

 

Really, TXL has nothing to worry about though. From the beginning MWQ has always drawn a boundary between herself and XGY.  Yes, he's a friend from her childhood, but she's never considered him to be anything more than that.  Whenever he holds her hand, she always carefully draws hers out from under his.  Nobody could accuse MWQ for intentionally or unintentionally leading on XGY, that's for sure.  I respect how she clear she likes to keep those lines.

 

Anyway, today's episodes!!  Like everyone's already noted, they were so exciting.  Clearly I couldn't resist watching them both over my lunch break.  But there was just too much going on to stop watching.  The take down of the Stepmom was sooooo great.  It was everything I'd been waiting for.  And I love how TXL and MWQ put their heads together to figure out the missing puzzle pieces and then worked together to bring it about.  They are a formidable couple!  Sometimes I thought TXL looked like he was enjoying himself a little too much, given the topics that were being talked about (past murders, etc.), but then I'd also think, "Nah, I've got that same snickering smile on my face too."  LOL

TXL definitely knows that Xu Bojun was behind MDC, just as Xu Bojun knows that TXL knows.  That was the whole convo Xu Bojun had with his underling after he got the report from TXL... Since MDC had two motives to do what he did, TXL cut his loss over Xu Bojun (for the time being) and focused on taking down Stepmom instead.  Because in doing so, that also gave him something to hold over Xu Bojun and cleared the name of his militia -- Xu Bojun realizes this, too; that's why he's been so upset and keeps having his men try to kill MDC.  By the same token, it's why TXL can predict that people will come after MDC.  TXL and Xu Bojun are like master chess players... too bad for Xu Bojun, our TXL is a better player.  

 

Even if TXL didn't get to expose Xu Bojun this time around, he still emerges as the winner and now he'll have an even stronger arsenal to take down Xu Bojun in the end.  I'm sure there is soooo much more to be exposed with respect to Xu Bojun.  My heart is already feeling heavy for XGY the day he realizes just what his father is capable of.  Already, through the attempted killing in the hospital, XGY knows things are not right.

Episode 15 — the scene in the hospital where XGY tells Wanqing he’s afraid Wanting may have bullied her, and TXL scoffs by asking how Wanqing would letting anyone bully her — this is a perfect example of what I was saying yesterday, about how TXL treats MWQ as someone capable of standing on her own two feet whereas XGY treats her as if she needs help to stand on her own.

from my understanding of the trailers:

 

17-18 they confirmed on their relationship. 2nd kiss and yes it is tonight!!! and TXL has WT in his hands which caused WQ to worry about it. Looks like out Commander Tan is a gentleman. both time he never make a move on WQ. both initiated by WQ.

 

19-20 General Xu wants to consolidate the relationship with Boss Mu. Hence the idea of alliance marriage between XGY and WQ. WQ and TXL is doing a under the wrap relaitionship. WQ very worried about the engagement suggestion and ep 20 she slapped TXL because he says he need to balance between the power struggle with General Xu and his relationship with WQ. meaning he is still thinking if WQ is worth tipping the balance with General Xu. I mean i am sure there is something in his mind. something scheming going on. There is also japanese coming into the picture now. 

 

21-22 TXL announced he will officially court WQ. XGY very upset as he announce pending their engagement. the argument. both men stood firma nd WQ dad also knows d and advise against it.. And ep 22 looks like they are out in open with the relationship and looks like WQ makes peace with XGY.

What didn’t she study in Japan???
 

Rewatching Ep 2 and during the dance with XGY, where she tells him that she found a map in TXL’s suitcase, she also mentions that she studied architecture in Japan so she’s familiar with all the markings on the map. Haha!

in ep18 her father asked her why she knows so much about the business. she says she finish the entire economics business degree in japan and did her practical training in japan trading and stock exchange. her father was shocked and mentioned but u are only 20, she explained that she got in at 16 as special entrance. wow!!! genius gal!!! Ep 2 she mentioned she did a side study in architectures...maybe like electives or minor. hahahaa.....TXL is a military and political genius and she is a business and academic genius....i shuddered if i am their enemy hahaha...

I know, that’s why I was commenting that it sounds like she studied all sorts of things. Not just business, but architecture too. Maybe she’ll surprise us again in a future episode with something else. Our FL is smart and multi-talented! Hehe.

Ladies, I think I need to rewatch ep 17 & 18 just to see all the sweet moments between TXL and MWQ again! 

 

The look on TXL's face when he realizes that MWQ actually meant to kiss him the last time she got drunk, is priceless! You can see surprise, recognition and joy all manifested in his eyes. I am sooo soooo glad that MWQ took the initiative because I feel like it's another proof of her ability to go for what she wants.

 

Poor Tan Si was left out shivering in the cold while TXL held a sleeping MWQ in the warm car.  

 

I laughed when MWQ woke up and tells TXL that he should go meet her father and propose marriage now. I was like "whoa!" they literally just confessed their feelings for each other and now they're getting engaged?! But I remind myself this is a different time period so that was quite normal at that time. Not that I'm complaining either, there's nothing more I want than for them to get married and start having babies! 

 

When TXL says that he can't propose marriage yet, it was so cute how pouty MWQ was! And I love how TXL tells her that every time he has kept something from her, even when she doesn't know or understand it, it's always been for her good so she needs to trust that whatever it is he is doing, he's always thinking of her welfare. 

 

The scene where MWQ presses for a reason as to why TXL wants to keep their relationship secret was really good too because MWQ figured it out without TXL actually telling her. She figured out that he wanted to keep their relationship a secret so that should the conflict between TXL and Xo Bojun go south, she won't be implicated. I love that despite her desire to get justice for her brother, she'd rather let it all go than lose TXL. 

 

Okay, I really need to re-watch because it's just so good! Now I don't know how I am going to wait for the next episodes!!!

I swear, Episodes 15-18 have been some of the best. First there was the take down of Stepmom and then SO MUCH SWEETNESS.  I just love this OTP.

Agreed.  A modern woman. She and her future sister-in-law will get along in that regard.

As much as I enjoyed that sweet image of TXL cradling MWQ in his arms in the car, I did feel bad for Tan Si. He looked really cold out there!!!!! Awww, poor guy. TXL and MWQ are going to have to make it up to Tan Si, making him suffer for the sake of their relationship, lol.

 

My favorite parts of Episode 17 & 18 were TXL reminding MWQ that she can trust him, and should, because it's not that he won't ever loop her in, but that when he doesn't, he has a good reason for doing so. I also appreciated that her pout lasted all of a hot second because she's also sensible and knows that TXL is right. Mostly, I liked how he included her in the interrogation of MDC and didn't try and protect her from the facts, no matter how hard the truth was going to be to hear. Really, the gem of this show is seeing how TXL and MWQ work together.

 

The previews of Fourth Sister sharing the film reel with Warlord Pei make me nervous.... and even though Wan Ting has now been dispatched to Hong Kong, I'm worried about her reappearing in the future.  Are we truly done with her?  I fear not... and I fear what revenge she'll try to bring if she does show up again.  That's someone with some twisted logic... blaming others for what was "stolen" from her when everything she ever had was stolen from others!!!  She should be grateful to be still alive.

 

Speaking of Wan Ting, I totally figured TXL would not actually kill MDC but would substitute someone for him instead.  But the attempted drowning of Wan Ting by Warlord Xu?!  That somehow caught me off guard.  I was not expecting that as i figured with her away in Hong Kong, she wouldn't be an interference in his plans anyway.  But I also thought that whole attempted drowning was poorly executed.  They did it right in front of everyone who was trying to board the ship!!!  Shouldn't the men have helped her onto the boat and then taken her to a more discreet part of the boat to throw her over??   Do I need to give these evil people a lesson?   LOL.

love love ep 17-18. love the expression of TXL when he realised that WQ remembered everything of the first kiss haha..it has so much sweetness, vulnerabilities and joy....

 

love how even though TXL is reckless, brazen and ambitious, he is a fair person with intergrity; a good kind person in the heart with the ability to love ppl around him very well - his soldiers, his subordinates, his sister and shuang-er, and now MWQ. and i love how he can be so cute and boyish too...which actually fit his character writing because he is actually a 25 yo. someone who is at the peak of his life supposedly if his army and family weren't wiped out 10 years ago. my claps to Oliver Chen. He did so well.

Omg here I’ve been wondering and I just realized it’s the doctor that used to work with TXL’s dad. The one we suspect of now working for the South. Duh!!! Feeling a little dumb right now, haha. But TXL’s comments in the preview clip make a lot more sense now!

I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I've definitely meant to, so hopefully I'm not repeating myself, but Episode 15.... that moment where MWQ returns to XGY's hospital room after escorting MWT out the door... when she walks in and gives TXL that LOOK, that is one of my favorite moments of the drama.  I know that probably seems like a random moment to enjoy as much as I do, but it's because with that one expression I can so perfectly imagine what their future dynamic will be like as a married couple and with a family.  Can't you just see it?  TXL at home with their older son, making a mess of something, and then MWQ returning home with their younger daughter... she'd walk through the door and give him that LOOK and TXL would just shrug his shoulders and return her look with one of absolute innocence asking, "What?"  Hahaha.  Man, I adore the antics of this OTP sooooo much.  Only one more day until Monday!  These last couple of days have been an absolute killer.

Surprised myself getting caught up and can’t wait for new episodes!  Totally love WQ aggression toward Tan.  If she didn’t make a move, Tan would probably still run under her rador.  
 

the best thing I like about this drama is the intelligent portrayal of WQ.  Also when WQ and Tan combination of fixing the puzzles of the past to present bid awesome.

Honestly this drama just can’t do anything wrong! Every episode is just so good!!

 

I am all caught up until ep 20 and can I just say that I’m sooooo glad that TXL and MWQ are finally together?! Every scene they have together makes my heart flutter 

 

I’ve mentioned this before but I just have to mention it again… they are so perfect for each other. Even when TXL doesn’t tell MWQ everything right away, she always knows or senses what he’s up to. Unlike before, her trust in him is now so complete that even when he doesn’t give her all the details, she doesn’t panic or get upset. Rather, she goes with his flow because she knows he’s always after her best interests. 
 

I love the scene where TXL meets MWQ privately at a hotel room before he goes to buy western medicine. Not only was it so sweet of them to be showing affection for each other but I love that MWQ knew right away that there was something off with TXL. And although he hesitated at first, we can see that he, too, is also showing his trust in her by opening up to her and involving her in all of his affairs. Because of this, she was able to successfully assist him. I love that she was supportive even though selling medicine meant that there was a risk they would be implicated as assisting the south. I love that all he said was that he had to repay a kindness and she replied with “then a kindness shall be repaid”. Such simple words but the meaning and intent ran deep. 
 

I also loved the scene when Xu Bojun and MWQ’s dad (can’t remember his name right now) we’re arranging the marriage. You can see MWQ trying as hard as she could to get out of it without exposing anything. And how cute of TXL to be discreetly listening in on the conversation. And the look they gave each other! 
 

I love that when TXL told her not to worry and that he’ll come up with something, she trusted him right away. And how cute was the scene of them “fake fighting”?! I die at how adorable these two are!! 

 

So it looks like apart from Xo Bojun, Marshal Pei’s father also plays dirty. I think the end of ep 20 might be leading to Guangyao telling Marshal Pei about their fathers’ arms dealing.

 

I saw this preview for ep 25-26. Looks like at this point TXL and MWQ are already married? Did I misunderstand?

Nope, I also understood them to be married. From clips I’ve seen here and there, I’ve noticed that in the later half of the drama, she starts to wear her up which suggested that she was married by then. So I figured there marriage would come somewhere in the middle… 

 

My guess based on clips from credits, BTS vids, trailers, etc.

Her father will die (from poor health; the drama has been building up that angle more and more) and I think that will lead to them getting married after.

I liked the point Uncle Liao made when he asked TXL about his future plans…. Cuz these warlords in-fighting, that could go on forever and to what end? Can’t wait to find out what big things TXL ends up doing. Feels like it’s setting him up for more than just taking down Evil Daddy Xu. Especially now that Pie’s dad is coming back into the mix.

Yes, me too. How disappointed these two will be when they find out how crooked their fathers truly are. I just hope that they won't get discouraged by it. Rather, I would love to see them fight alongside TXL to correct the system. I also cannot wait to see what TXL is going to end up doing because Uncle Liao is right. This war between warlords will not end even if TXL were to win against Xo Bojun. It's only a matter of time before someone else comes after him. It's also sad that ultimately, it's the civilians and the soldiers who pay the price for these struggles for power among men.
