CHAPTER 2

The Heavenly Jade Sea was a sacred place brimming with the deepest spiritual beneficence within the Four Seas and Eight Realms. It was located at the far edge of Heaven, and its master was Dong Hua Di Jun.

High God Zhe Yan sat under the canopy of the Buddha bell flower tree inside the stone palace at the Heavenly Jade Sea watching the silver-haired young man, who had left three years ago, concentrate on a white stone chess piece. He had a lot of questions to ask, but at this moment, he could not find a way to approach it.

At the Investiture of Gods of the New Era, the young man was conferred the title, Imperial Jade High Saint of the Eight Realms, Succor of the World, Saviour of the Suffering, Dong Hua of the Purple Mansion, Emperor Lord of the Young Sun. A palace befitting his title was constructed for him on the Thirteenth floor of the Nine Heavens.

The Emperor Lord was therefore the Lord of the Eight Realms. This divine office controlled every celestial deity in all of Heaven and Earth, so it was a very important and substantial official position. Everyone knew that Dong Hua had indeed lived in Tai Chen Palace on the Thirteenth floor of Nine Heavens for three months, managing matters there for a period of time. However, on the day after Mo Yuan disappeared, Di Jun left the Nine Heavens and returned to his home at the Heavenly Jade Sea, secluding himself from the world henceforth.

The time of Di Jun’s departure was so close to Mo Yuan that many immortals speculated that His Imperial Lordship might know the reason behind Mo Yuan’s departure. The gods entertained the thought of making enquiries at the Heavenly Jade Sea, but the Heavenly Jade Sea was closed to outsiders for the next three years. The Emperor Lord had sealed the Heavenly Jade Sea with a restriction ward so strong that even a mosquito could not fly through it, so everyone decided to give that intention a rest.

CHAPTER 3

Bai Gun Gun found himself lying in a bed of Arabian jasmines when he woke up. The white flowers were exuding a rich floral fragrance, and the scent carried a little dewy moisture from the rain. He could not help sneezing. Standing up, he moved forward to take a look, and realised he had actually arrived at the Heavenly Jade Sea.

Bai Gun Gun’s little mind was momentarily dazed.

Ten years ago, when his Father Lord and Jiu Jiu were killing the Monster Queen, Miao Luo, they were both injured. Jiu Jiu drank many large bowls of his Father Lord’s crimson gold blood complemented with High God Zhe Yan’s elixirs, and recovered after convalescing for several months. It’s just that she would not be able to regain her immortal cultivation for a while.

But the question of when Jiu Jiu’s immortal cultivation could be restored wasn’t too important. His Father Lord also had the similar problem of regaining his lost cultivation. However, this was the biggest major issue the entire God race was concerned about.

Brother Zhong Lin had said that if his Father Lord could focus on his cultivation recovery by going into a deep sleep for several hundred years, this problem would be resolved. But he did not want to leave Jiu Jiu alone by herself again after just returning to the Nine Heavens. Besides, he also did not want to miss out on his little Gun Gun’s childhood. Hence, he had chosen to go into seclusion for three to five months of every year to slowly restore his cultivation over the next one thousand years.

Today was the day his Father Lord entered his annual seclusion. The place where he would be secluding was located inside Tai Chen Palace’s innermost Yang Shu chamber. Every year, Jiu Jiu would take him back to Qing Qiu when his Father Lord entered seclusion.

While Jiu Jiu was at the entrance of Yang Shu chamber with his Father Lord, their abject unwillingness to be apart from each other on full display, Bai Gun Gun felt like a third wheel and took advantage of the opportunity to sneak out. He intended to head to one of the family halls at Tian Ge Palace on the Thirty Sixth floor to bid farewell to the other immortal children he had played well with.

When he passed Yuan Ji palace, he thought that although there were no immortal children there, Third Uncle of Yuan Ji Palace had always treated him very well. Since he was returning to Qing Qiu, he decided he might as well pay him a visit to say goodbye. Who knew that as soon as he stepped into Yuan Ji palace, he was welcomed by a sudden wave of light flashing directly across his face, and he lost consciousness …

CHAPTER 4

Feng Jiu rubbed her eyes as she sat up. Feeling a little awkward whilst sitting up, she looked down and realised that she was in her primal fox form. It had been a long time since she had fallen asleep as a fox, so she felt odd as she shook her body, transforming to her human form. She got off the bed, shuffled into her shoes and walked to the window.

In the eastern sky, the full moon hung high. Under the full moon, a purple fog shrouded the immortal mountains, scale like waves growing from the Jade Sea. This was the familiar scenery of the Heavenly Jade Sea.

Earlier in the day, when the two little immortal children fed her the mind clearing elixirs, they had negligently fed her some strong wine instead of water to accompany the medication. The wine interacted with the medicine, and she fell into an unusually deep slumber.

At this moment, her mind was still hazy after just waking up. Hence, she had completely forgotten that she had gone along with Zu Ti’s magical ward, travelling back through time and space in search of her son, Bai Gun Gun. She had assumed that this was just their family’s regular stay at the Heavenly Jade Sea.

Using the illumination of the moonlight, Feng Jiu sized up the interior of the bedchamber for a moment, and recognised it as the side bedchamber.

Why was she sleeping in the side bedchamber?

CHAPTER 5

The Heavenly Jade Sea was a mystical place. Since the stone palace was built 100,000 years ago, and the entire area of the Heavenly Jade Sea subsumed under Dong Hua’s name, becoming the Emperor Lord’s private territory, it had always maintained its present appearance.

Over the last 100,000 years, great changes were seen in the evanescent passage of time¹, and the five races have redrawn their borders several times. Yet the grass and the trees, every pavilion and every terrace within the Heavenly Jade Sea continued to bask in its old self, remaining unchanging.

For a period of time, the steward of the Heavenly Jade Sea, Immortal Fei Wei envied his fellow steward, Feng Xing, who worked by Goddess Shao Wan’s side. This was because Feng Xing lived on Zhang Wei Mountain; Goddess Shao Wan loved to create formations and garden landscapes, so Zhang Wei Mountain was practically redecorated annually, changing its appearance year after year.

Fei Wei admired Feng Xing as he could live in a new home every year; he was so cut by his envy that he indirectly asked Di Jun several times when the Heavenly Jade Sea could be given a facelift. Di Jun bluntly dismissed his idea by saying he was not inclined to spare any effort on this matter.

After facing the Heavenly Jade Sea’s landscape of wide open spaces and natural carvings for the past 100,000 years, Fei Wei believed he would never live to see the day its layout would change. But this was how that miraculous event unfolded.

He had only gone out for four to five days to deliver a letter. On his return, however, he noticed that the place that Di Jun referred to as a garden — which he personally called a wild forest, had really been turned into what the secular world would meaningfully understand as a garden.

There were beds of beautiful flowers, winding and looping verandahs, a rock mountain carved by heavenly tradesmen, and an elegant, beautifully refined small lotus pond in the garden. It was closely comparable to the garden at Zhang Wei Mountain he had once so painfully envied.

CHAPTER 6

This was seven months later.

At the Heavenly Jade Sea, Fei Wei brought up a time in Di Jun’s past, when he was studying at Water Marsh School. He spoke of the Formation Studies class that Father God had personally taught.

In a battle between two armies, lining up soldiers and devising formation strategies were vital. The better the formation, the better it could impede the enemy, potentially winning with a surprise move.

Speaking of that period, the two most outstanding students of Formation Studies were Mo Yuan and Dong Hua. Both had their own representative work when they graduated. Father God saw that Dong Hua had forgotten to name his work, so he gave it a name — the Qian Yuan formation.

The meaning of Qian Yuan was the beginning of Heaven’s way. Thus, what Father God meant was that this formation strategy had taken all the various principles behind the inception of the laws of Heaven and incorporated them into it. Then, the strategy drew upon the most ruthless and cruel parts to create a formation so comprehensive that it could directly and efficiently overcome all the others that existed in the world up until now. It was overbearing to the point that it was worthy of its name, Qian Yuan.

However, due to the cruel and dominating qualities of the formation strategy, on the day its drawings were completed, Father God had taken a look at it and sealed it in perpetuity afterwards. He said that if this formation were produced, it would be detrimental to the people of the world.

But Father God still gave this representative work very high marks, but it was not as high as the grades Mo Yuan received for his work. God Mo Yuan had seen both formation drawings and felt that Dong Hua’s ingenuity was one up over his own. So he asked Father God why Dong Hua’s grades were lower than his. Father God indicated that Dong Hua had forgotten to name his formation strategy and had lost a very important point as a result of it.

Since then, Di Jun had never forgotten to name the things he owned. It was all thanks to Father God indeed.

CHAPTER 7

Two armies encamped opposite each other was an indication of a stalemate between them. When two armies are locked in a stalemate, the scales tend to tilt rather quickly in either direction, and fighting could possibly erupt at any time. Logically speaking, Jie Shui was still a dangerous place, so Feng Jiu stayed there for three days before she was sent back to the Heavenly Jade Sea.

Previously, the matter about Di Jun having a Di Hou had spread like wildfire throughout the Eight Realms. But as most of the God race had never seen the legendary Di Hou, many people had remained skeptical about it. Feng Jiu’s trip to Jie Shui had proven the rumour to be true.

There was no shortage of female generals among the God officers; the male generals felt shocked about this matter, while the female generals were not only shocked, they were also each sad and dispirited.

However, Feng Jiu was completely unaware about these events, and made a pact with Di Jun that if the battlefields were fine in the following month, she would bring Bai Gun Gun along to see him. Although she could not bear to leave him, she did not openly express it, and sensibly returned to the Heavenly Jade Sea along with Fei Wei.

Not a few days had gone by after their return to the Heavenly Jade Sea when a headache inducing matter occurred.

CHAPTER 8

Three years ago, the Demon race split into seven clans after Ancestor Demon Goddess Shao Wan faded. The seven Demon Lords under the divine seat of Shao Wan each led a branch of their clansmen, living in their separate territories within the Southern Realm, and governing their clans in their own ways. Henceforth, the Demon race entered the era of the seven co-existing Demon Lords lasting 260,000 years.

Without Shao Wan’s restraint, the seven Demon Lords were erratic and restless. When Fu Ying started the uprising, tossing Heaven and Earth into upheaval once again, they wanted to step into the foray to throw the situation into further disarray. But alas, the seven Lords were in the midst of fighting over territories and demarcating boundaries at that time, so they lacked the strength despite having the will to do so. Hence, they had to let that intention go.

Towards the later part of the rebellion, the seven Demon Lords were almost done dealing with their internal affairs and were eagerly gearing up to void the treaty <<Pledge of Zhang Wei>> and enter the war. But who knew that Di Jun would fight the war at lightning speed; the Gods had already declared an end to the war at the banks of the Jie Shui River.

Besides, when the total scores were settled after the war, Di Jun gave them a lesson that would leave a considerably deep impression: High God Fu Ying and his supporters responsible for the uprising were all killed, leaving no one behind. Amongst the Ghost and Monster races, any clan who participated or supported the rebellion were all settled one by one. It had only been seven days, but the blood of the rebels and dissidents had dyed the entire land of the Western Realms in red.

This cruel and hardline method greatly intimidated the Demon race. The restless seven Lords had no choice but to retract their devious intentions, and they did not dare to make any rash decisions ever again. It was said that the original <<Pledge of Zhang Wei>> had already been ripped up by the impetuous Grey Demon Lord. After he witnessed Di Jun’s iron-blooded methods, the Grey Demon Lord quietly and carefully glued the torn <<Pledge of Zhang Wei>> back together page by page, and returned it respectively in its rightful place once again...

In any event, the Eight Realms finally returned to the tranquility and peace at the time of Mo Yuan’s Investiture of the Gods three years ago; the God race was unified, and the world in allegiance to the Gods.

However, everyone did not anticipate that while the Demon and Monster races had stopped their machinations, trouble brewed in the internal affairs of the God race again.

In the month following the war at Jie Shui River, an Immortal Lord submitted an official article of impeachment motioning to impeach the King of Gods to the Elders.

CHAPTER 9

Feng Jiu awoke, and found herself not sleeping in the Sui Han chamber at the Heavenly Jade Sea, but lying in the Ba Ye chamber at Tai Chen Palace. She slowly sat up on the bed as her eyes fell onto the set of little porcelain foxes placed on top of the nearby zither table. The little foxes were made by Di Jun in an effort to win her over when she woke up after the big battle with Miao Luo.

Feng Jiu’s mind went blank momentarily.

Then she understood immediately. This was Tai Chen Palace 260,000 years in the future. She had returned to the present.

Zu Ti had said that when the destined opportunity arrived, Gun Gun and herself would naturally return to the present from the Chaos Era. She massaged her temple, making an effort to recollect for some time. Then, she remembered that just a moment ago, she and Di Jun were at the Water Marsh School in Shou Hua Ye…. Could it be… the hand massaging her temple paused momentarily. Could it be that the storage box made from pure Dao Li Jade at Water Marsh School was the destined opportunity mentioned by Goddess Zu Ti?

She sat crossed legged by the edge of the bed, and spent a short while carefully thinking about it in detail once more, feeling that this was most likely the case.
