When this show has these flashes of goodness, I weep for it. It's not a bad show at all. But the loss of potential is lamentable. 

 

In some ways I wish it was outright bad. It would be easy to give it the flick. But it has Nam Goongmin with a mo doing some superhero stuff, sucking lollipops. And there's also the crazy sci-fi -- mad scientists who use children as lab rats. And the third kid who is wreaking havoc because he is having an almighty tantrum about being left behind. All of this is fun and the show could be entirely about that and lose nothing.

 

Episode 11 felt fillery. I'm not sure why we needed the rain scenes or the loud-mouth broadcaster at the scene. I feel that the show is stalling for time now. Jamie barely registers a bleep on the show's radar when she's one of the 3 kids that survived the mad experiments. Does her decreased time in the drama have something to do with increased time for another female character? 

 

The most important reveal of the episode is the presence of the chief scientist, Choi Hyun-hee  -- the mad female scientist who seems to have discovered the fountain of youth. She hasn't aged a single day since 28 years ago. Presumably she's been injecting herself with something else other than botox.

 

It's also horrendous that they're dumping the bodies of dead kids in the drums used to dispose of toxic material. Moreover Dr Gong's nonchalance about what they're doing in the "secret lab" boggles the mind.

 

This show could have been as good as or better than the Uncanny Counter. The ideas were always there but the script or perhaps the direction doesn't do the material justice. I just don't think the show has ever been sure of what it wants to be.

It is not so bad that it is unwatchable ...there are some really good things to it too - or more like the setting of the story is quite interesting.  But maybe execution has problems . And I am not particularly fond of them shoving the love line between NGM and the other actress in my face.  So far up to eps 11 nothing is developed - it is still very much a one sided crush on her part. And there are hints that he may care for her to an extent even though it started off with him perhaps using her. Lee Chung Ah's character seems to have gotten less screen time of late and I hope that changes soon.

 

@40somethingahjumma I just got off eps 11...nothing much developed . Things are just going in circles. But yes it is interesting that the Chief scientist has not aged a single day. The only other so called major plot movement is that Jae Woong plans to use Oh Jung Hwan's  ( the Chief Presidential Secretary) son to trap Jung Woo.

 

If they plan to link Jamie with Jung Woo like the new character chart shows , they need more time together. There's barely any connection between the two except for their childhood where she keeps calling him the monster.

Episode 12 was somewhat better pacing wise although Jamie's turning into a plot device cum damsel in distress. It's troubling to me what the show is doing with her character. I don't know what Lee Chung-ah thought she signed up for but the show doesn't do her justice IMO. Again, there's nothing awful about the show but it could be so much more than it is when there are more than a few good ingredients. It's like making a hamburger using organic beef  and veg sandwiched between crappy white bread rolls, topped off with caged hen eggs fried in some kind of polyunsaturated oil.

 

Jung-woo seems to get the lion's share of the character development (if you can call it that) as he's the one most consistently using his noggin. The so-called Special Team members have been downgraded to being mostly comic relief. Although they were admittedly brought in to save the kid from the hangman's noose and from Seon Min-ho's clutches.

 

I don't mind so much Jae-woong wreaking havoc on Foundation members but why direct his ire against Jamie and Jung-woo? Especially now it seems that his little boy mind might have got the wrong end of the stick. Gee. All that energy wasted.

 

As for the romance... what romance? There's a romance?

It’s really quite sad TBH. He felt abandoned but he forgot that Jamie & JW are also victims of this; but then I don’t think Jae Woong is capable of rational thinking considering that he continued to be used & abused well into adulthood. 

 

@40somethingahjumma eps 12 was the 1st time I felt like my perseverance for this drama is finally paying off ..at least there was some plot development . Despite us cursing week in , week out , we’re finally in the 3rd act . Lol! 
 

Finally they discover Jae Woong is the third child & that Jamie remembers what happens . Felt like it took forever. Think this was the best part of the eps.  I’m sad too that no one else seems to have much character development - but what shocks me more is that the “reporter “ guy has better instincts/ investigative skills then Jamie who’s the FBI specialist. Does that even make sense? Lol! The other noteworthy  reveal or more like it was important for Hye Won to note was that both she & mr Rookie were recruited because of their fathers . At least one consistent thing is that JW never does anything without a reason to bring him closer to punishing those responsible for these experiments.

In'Day and Night', it was revealed that they were twin brothers Lee Cheong-ah and Nam Gung-min.
