tvN’s weekend drama “Mr. Queen” shared new stills of Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun ahead of the upcoming episode!

“Mr. Queen” is a historical fantasy-comedy drama about a man from modern times whose soul gets trapped in the body of a queen from the Joseon dynasty. Shin Hye Sun stars as Kim So Yong, the Joseon queen with the soul of Blue House chef Jang Bong Hwan trapped inside her. Kim Jung Hyun plays her husband King Cheoljong, who is a weak and ineffective king on the outside but is stronger and sharper than he appears.

Spoilers

Previously, Kim So Yong attempted to adjust to the palace, despite the fact that she was actually a free-spirited man from modern times. She proposed a “no touching” rule to the king, and just when they were getting comfortable acting as a couple only in public, Kim So Yong snuck out of the palace dressed as a man. She came face-to-face with King Cheoljong, who is disguised as someone else, and viewers are keen to find out if she will recognize him or not.

In the new stills, Kim So Yong and King Cheoljong have a tense encounter. Cheoljong points his sword at her, and his piercing gaze studies her nervous expression. Kim So Yong is flustered but she avoids eye contact and dares not provoke him. King Cheoljong suspects she has been following him, but Kim So Yong is just worried that people might find out she snuck out of the palace.

Another set of stills shows Kim So Yong brandishing her immaculate cooking skills. Queens usually don’t appear in the royal kitchen, and the servants become frantic when she shows up out of the blue. Kim So Yong draws up her sleeves and uses her experience as a chef in the modern world to create a superb dish. Her royal subjects can’t help but stare at her in awe. Her expression is full of determination and confidence, and she smirks as if she has been waiting for this very moment.

Episode 3

I think the funniest bit I find in this episode had to be South Korean and their obsession with ramyeon . So much so that it has to be featured in every single drama and now, even sageuk! Jackpot with food porn! I need more of this than palace politics! In addition to this I'm also dying for more King vs Bong Hwan's antics. I'm also kind of glad that Choi Jin Hyuk's voice is staying even though he's not shown. It adds to the fun to use a man's voice to remind us she is still a he.

So Yong's cousin who loves her, who is this actor? He's not bad looking but not a familiar face I know. Still getting to know his character (and his name) so I don't have much to say. On the contrary, I liked the other Kim-ssi cousin coz he's so funny and cute. Cracks me up when handsome Kim commented he goes to the palace every day and does nothing.  $100 bet on rather than spying on the maid, he's going to fall for her.

Kim Jung Hyun Becomes Suspicious Of Shin Hye Sun’s Behavior In “Mr. Queen”

tvN’s weekend drama “Mr. Queen” revealed new stills of Kim Jung Hyun and Shin Hye Sun ahead of tonight’s episode!

Spoilers

In the previous episode, King Cheoljong started to show interest in Kim So Yong’s peculiar behavior, while Kim So Young found out that there are people within the palace walls who could pose a threat to her. Knowing that she could soon find herself in danger, Kim So Yong utilized her skills as a Blue House chef to get into the good graces of Queen Sunwon (Bae Jong Ok). Kim So Yong remains on her toes around King Cheoljong, who began to keep an eye on her, but she also caught on to the fact that he was the one who previously pointed a knife at her. Viewers are curious to find out how the story between the two individuals who are both harboring secrets will turn out.

In the first still, Kim So Yong reclines peacefully into her chair, having adjusted perfectly to her life in the unfamiliar palace. Kim So Yong received permission to fill the lake with water after winning over Queen Sunwon with her cooking, and she wears a smug smile on her face as she basks in her success.

In stark contrast to Kim So Yong’s relaxed appearance, the next set of stills shows King Cheoljong approaching her with a hardened expression. Kim So Yong stares back at him with her features twisted in discomfort, leading viewers to wonder what conversation will transpire between them. Kim So Yong then discovers something unexpected near the lake, and she holds onto it with her mouth open in surprise.

The new episode will see a sudden change in King Cheoljong and Kim So Yong’s relationship, in addition to delving deeper into the mystery surrounding the reason why the real Kim So Yong fell into the lake.

The drama’s production team commented, “Kim So Yong and King Cheoljong will undergo changes after looking deeper into each other’s motives, and the reason why the real Kim So Yong fell into the lake will be revealed. With the palace abuzz as everyone debates the truth behind the incident, the actions Kim So Yong will take after learning the truth will bring about an unexpected twist.”

Oh hi yeoreobun! I'm watching this and up-to-dated. Ep 3 is just much better and hilarious than before. The kitchen fight is really fantastic! I agreed that this scene is better than those boring politics. JBH struggle to satisfy the great queen just to smooth his/her (got confused with this, lols) way to fill the lake with water again. Trying so hard to get back to the present Seoul timeline.

I wonder if JBH's trapped into the queen's body and what about the queen's, could she trapped inside his body too? Living his life in Seoul? Hmm...

Hello @Alice Wonderland!

That's a great question and it would have been interesting to see the Queen in modern times if the drama had a concurrent plot line! But alas, Choi Jin-hyuk is making a cameo appearance, thus it is unlikely. Hopefully he will at least continue to lend his voice while inhabiting the Queen's body.

I think the Queen is in the subconscious. We saw he had a flashback in the earlier episode. Chances are JBH will continue to have these flashbacks. The question is if JBH will occupy the Queen's body up to the end of the drama?

What do all of you think?

Lols.. I guess I'm thinking what you're thinking right now? That is not a good idea. I mean the king is actually falling for the Mr. Queen. And even Mr. Queen is a woman but still I feel this isn't right. Lol

Poor JBH, she tried to act cool without knowing that her escape lake is stopped acquiring water. Hahahaa. I kind of worried for her head safety. But the preview shows the rain falls and filled the lake with water. I wonder this time will be n9 different failure for her, either the royal command or any of the palace people stop her from escaping, I mean they must stop her to kill herself even more after she confessed she ever tried.

@Chocolate I was cackling like a seal when I watch that scene. The Baek Ji Young's meta cameo is so funny !

Episode 3-4  Random thoughts  :MewGiggle:

The topic on women working in the kitchen --this of course is the main theme in sageuk drama Jewel in the Palace (Dae Jang Guem) but I am delighted to have this highlighted in this drama too. The show continues to maintain its comedic streak with the slapstick + dark humor combined.

I so love this scene, again, the King is actually smart, discerning things not only through what is perceived by people about Cheorin (oh well, she changed she said) . I wish there was a previous confrontation of Cheorin and Cheoljong in order to show the stark contrast of Cheorin before and after the lake incident. Either way, SHS is commendable. She was able to channel Bonghwan in here.

And can we talk about the food porn in this drama ? While there are hiccups on the first two episodes because of historical distortions and the original author of adaption. The drama was able to hit one goal--promoting the culture of Korea through its delicacies. The samhyang ramyun for one!

And the last scene of episode 4, this what makes the story more captivating. The drama defies again, some kdrama cliches when the noble idiocy is laid just like that. Cheorin is getting more interesting by this story. It also somehow aligns with the annals where the Queen Grand Dowager chose Queen Cheorin to supervise the selection of the next heir after the King died.

I like how everyone plotted each other then end up screwed up by the victim herself

@bluepebbles I think they utilize everything here well. Promoting food especially. BH introduce the Joseon to the samhyang ramyun is just so brilliant! Lols

I like the queen more with BH's soul inhabiting her body. Current queen Chorin is much appealing and badass than those seen in the flashback.

She even thinks mathematically for a food palanquin. Which is its the history fusion BH did to Joseon dynasty, the first food delivery system. Lols.

Spoiler

On the 26th, tvN's Saturday-Sunday drama "Queen Cheol-in" released images of Kim So-yong (Shin Hye-sun) and Cheol-jong (Kim Jung-hyun) in a different atmosphere than usual, drawing attention.

In the last broadcast, Kim So-yong succeeded in capturing the heart of the royal power king, Dae-bi (played by Bae Jong-ok), and was allowed to fill the lake with water. Kim So-yong found a way to return to modern times as soon as he learned that there were people who were aiming for the main body in the palace. The water filling project that introduced the'out of the world' method was very smooth. But there was a variable in his plan to escape the soul. While trying to save Jo Hwa-jin (Seol In-ah), who was embroiled in a power struggle, Cheol-jong fell into crisis, and Kim So-yong, who was motivated, stood in front of the Great Queen for him and predicted unpredictable development.

Meanwhile, the released photo showed Kim So-yong exploding the "out of the world" excitement with the pouring rain. Kim So-yong is enjoying the joy as if he has the whole world. His smile is lovely as he is in the rain with his arms wide open. The affectionate eyes of Cheoljong, who finds Kim So-yong soaked and hands over his umbrella, also create excitement. In particular, his changed mood toward Kim So-yong suggests a change between the two.

Kim So-yong's response to Cheol-jong's consideration is also unusual. Kim So-yong's expression full of discontent, which confronts Cheol-jong with a pointed face, evokes a smile. King Cheoljong had built a day for Kim So-yong, who became a queen with his family on his back, but began to pay attention to the changed actions of the Queen. He thought there was a heavy war behind the crisis, but he saw Kim So-yong again through a series of incidents. Attention is drawn to how the Show Window Couple, who dreamed of each other's survival for happiness, will be transformed.

Kim So-yong and Cheol-jong will change in the fifth episode, which will air today (26th). Kim So-yong told the truth about the lake incident in front of everyone. The unexpected sudden action of Kim So-yong is expected to put him to the test. On top of that, Kim So-yong's sincerity is being curious, adding to the change in Cheol-jong, which is expected to be a aftermath. Attention is focusing on whether Kim So-yong will be able to return safely to Hyundai.

The production team of "Queen Iron Man" said, "Kim So-yong's "out of the world" activities cause a big change in power structure, including Cheol-jong." Kim So-yong, who is struggling to recover from his accident(?), will also be portrayed as interesting," he said.
