Hahaha I was like finally, some second lead relief! But no, they literally reprised their roles as Baek Kyung and Dan oh during "The Stage" where Dan Oh goes looking for Haru once the date in "The Stage" ends and the "The Shadow" begins. 

I have a bunch of LJW fans as friends on Twitter and the reactions were interesting, ranging from deep love because LJW+KHY shippers were so happy to see LJW + KYH working together and Extraordinary You / BK+DO fans were happy to see their favourite characters together again (and I guess it does follow the story as it was)....to deep hate because certain LJW fans thought his cameo was too short, he didn't get the girl because it was Baek Kyung being abandoned once again. Hahaha there is one person on Twitter who raged over this cameo. I was amused because I'm sure LJW had fun filming it, so I'm happy for him  But I thought you guys would like this DDSSLLS x Extraordinary You reference they made!

Hahahaha, well, I liked Baek Kyung and have definitely seen the joke many times that in the next story his character moved into, he become Jun and found his own true love, Lala....so far LJW's characters haven't had as straight forward a happy ending as I'd like, although DDSSLLS did technically have a happy ending I guess

Yep, I'm disappointed too. I actually think they should have offered the extra Behind the Scenes/ photobook/ postcards as a digital download. Then they wouldn't have to make the DVD, just upload it on the website where fans could download it with a password or something.  Because I'd be more than happy to pay the same price and get that content...but now they're going to have to spend time refunding everyone and it feels sad because we'll never get that content  Wish someone could suggest it to them, but if the fan cafe is closing, I guess there's not much chance.

 

So many disappointments lately....but I hope something is redeemable with the KBS awards!

I agree. I do think that it's implied that he was very very sick at Christmas and the whole fake death thing as much as I didn't like it was because he would rather Lala let go of him and just live her life with him as a fond memory rather than cling onto him in pain. Someone passing away and leaving sucks, but time heals that pain. Watching someone wither away and being anxious for them as they suffer every day might drain their happiness. I guess that is the idea they were aiming to portray with Jun

Hahaha, as a seasoned drama watcher and someone who used to ship in the past, I have been around this ring before... Which is why I can't seriously ship actors  I would not be offended at all as LJW's answers are pretty standard.He is an up and coming rising star and his agency keep a pretty neutral image of him and all his co-stars - they have good chemistry for sure, but I guess his agency also keep him at bay from all of them. And he's been trained to give standard answers that don't preference one co-star from another as he moves through projects, though I definitely believe he gives answers which have a good element of truth to them too - both GAR and KHY are pretty positive people. But he was already using that terms to describe KHY before GAR when he was filming Extraordinary You. 

 

But if it makes you feel better, I liked that he always felt so shy around GAR when she teased him, but also had a certain playfulness around her that was very comfortable

Hahaha, I think unfortunately unique and totally candid descriptions will rarely ever happen with Korean stars! Of all the Asian drama actors I follow, I find Taiwanese actors to be more open when describing their co-stars which is why I swing between the Korean acting industry and the Taiwanese industry. Korean stars have to be more cautious because I think they can be met with harsh backlash from fans if they make a wrong move....whereas in Taiwan, they're more candid because the fan culture is less backlash-y and more forgiving...also super charmed by chemistry

Yep, 2 years is super quick to become lead at just 22. He's younger than a lot of new gen K-drama actors too. I think he genuinely likes working with GAR though. All their interviews and BTS show that they had fun together and got along really well in a fun, bantery way

Yeah.. willing to pay too. 😔 I would rather download than the dvd as the shipping fee is almost the same price as the dvd itself 🤣.

Yes! I watched some eps recently and surprisingly I enjoyed it! I think it's interesting because one of GAR's love interests in it is named Wook haha.

I like having physical mementos from things I like so I was looking forward to having it on my shelf, even if the shipping was expensive, but I would still love it if a digital download was an option. I tried to make myself feel better about the cancellation by thinking: maybe they already put all the good stuff on youtube already? How much more cuteness can there be??

The phone call when Rara sang, Jun looked very ill that time then Rara had a dream where she hugged Jun in the piano saying 'are you having a hard time' (i think I read it on your blog) wherein the dream might be like a premonotion of him battling for his life that time. Watching someone wither away and being anxious seeing them suffer all the time is harder. Will definitely drain away all the happiness of Rara and Eunpo folks.

The content is just going to rot in their storage anyways, they should have made it like what you said @JenL and make profit. I'd be willing to pay aswell although I really want a physical memorabilia like @okrim.

Haha, I do like how much GAR teased him and I like how he reacted to it each time. I think there's a lightness there that isn't the same with his previous co-stars from what I've seen of previous behind the scenes with LJW.

Aw, yeah I understand the feeling of having keepsakes of things you love. I do have drama things I love too...but at this point I just wanted to see all the behind the scenes no matter what form  But Thanks for your thought! It's comforting and I guess there is truth in that since they would use the best BTS scenes to sell the drama while it was on air? Haha, also this is funny but I had a dream last night that the extra footage wasn't super great...so I guess my own brain was trying to comfort me in the same way 

 

It sounds you like might somewhat buy drama keepsakes more often than I have @okrim...out of curiosity, have you ever had a drama DVD not made before? I've never bought one previously! Most of my keepsakes were more like magazines with photoshoot pictures or OSTs. I'm not super into buying OSTs now that you can stream from Spotify...but if they make the OST pretty and include something extra, maybe I'll think about it.

Oooh, it might be from my post...but if not, I'm adding it in :) I made that post to be as comforting and closure-giving as I could because I didn't want people to hate the series or forget the beauty of Lala and Jun because of the writer's poor taste in the ending. And I like that it's made people feel better and maybe less alone in the way they felt.

I didn't join the cafe, only preordered through the pre-order link, so have no way to ask (though I also feel like they wouldn't be so flexible about it). Still, it would be profitable to them and get us our content if they hadn't thought of it and could somehow execute it.

Haha, yes! I'm am grateful that Netflix showed the drama because if it didn't we wouldn't have gotten those Netflix/ Swoon Games which were mostly subbed! They did a lot of promoting and it was fun watching them being themselves (as opposed to just their characters) and playing games together as they're both so fun, personable and clearly mesh well together!

Maybe the netflix games were shot earlier than the KBS interview. Becuase LJW was really shy with GAR in the netflix games but looks super comfortable with her at the KBS interview, comfortable enough for him to tease her and joke about her age

I've read your blog, sorry for not replying  as I am too busy at the moment. 😅🙈 I  really appreciate what you've written and glad to know that there are other people who had more or less went through the same feeling and process watching it.

The drama had me like,

" you want to hate it but you can't feels ". I don't know if that makes sense. 🤣  

Seeing the beauty of the drama as a whole despite the (poorly written) ending is a rare thing. 😊

I'm going to say there's a chance of the Netflix stuff being shot first since Go Ara's agency posted her selfie in that same outfit on the 27th of July with a caption that said [Today-Go Ara]  (Hahaha, I'm not a stalker, I swear. I found it by accident while looking for something for my blog. I have a post on my blog that collects all the Netflix game videos/ photos they had for DDSSLLS )...so I'm guessing the games were shot back in July since DDSSLLS was originally scheduled for an August run on air but was halted due to covid. With the KBS games, LJW has the same/similar outfit to stuff he was wearing in the opening week press stuff in October...so it might have been shot then? (KBS probably more flexible in their interview schedules than Netflix, who is an external distributor of the series and might have decided to shoot those interviews then )

Hahaha, I think it's one of my top 3 scenes in the drama. No kiss, but the romantic tension and quirky comedy were at an all time high in the scene. I loved the way it was written and acted out and it was heart-fluttering and funny!

Glad you liked the post! Haha, I understand the feeling. It pulled me strongly in both directions because I loved the drama, but really disliked the ending...but thinking through everything helped me to get over it and like the main parts of the drama.

 

Anyway, it seems a bit sad lately with the DVD not being made, that I've decided I'll post some cheer up content on this thread later. I'm going out for lunch, but I'll come back post some nice gifs and pictures etc

Sorry to be slightly off topic guys but I can’t stop thinking of this. I did some “research.”

I noticed LJW’s past kiss scenes he doesn’t use his thumb to caress the costar’s face. But in DDSSLLS, every scene he is holding her face and caressing with his thumb. I thought it added a really romantic touch to their scenes. I wonder if it’s the suggestion of the director. Also same for Go Ara. Her kiss scenes are definitely different from the past where she hardly reacts. I hope it’s something else that produced these results, but if it’s the director’s doing then good job, PD-nim!! 
 

It definitely feels more intimate watching their scenes, like an IRL couple.

Oh my!!! Thats some neat observation!   I never noticed the 'thumb caressing' with the other kiss scenes, I only noticed to compare the redness of his hands. That comment made my day!  (was super sad becuase of the DVD). I know about GAR not reacting to kiss scenes thats why I was shocked when she kisses LJW back (my heart!!! 😆)

 I like to think its just them, not the director's doing 😆

I didn't see other LJW's kissing scenes maybe will go watch and compare them 😅. Yeah I noticed his hands and his ears got red, even with just the sweet and intimate moments.

I was shocked to see the BTS of the cable car when GAR kissed LJW back (the one which was not aired, I did not expect that 😆 but it was sweet even LJW was surprised I guess). 

I would like to believe that it's just them doing it subconsciously. 😅

I remember in one of the BTS in the sunja manbok arc where GAR asked if sunja wanted the kiss as well which LJW replied, of course she does.  Omg, spazz 😍

Hahaha, this is not off-topic at all especially since everyone was mopey over DVDs! This is a nice cheer up. I laughed when you said "research"...There use to be this ad on TV which said "Research is a girl's best friend" ...and I feel like you've just proved this 

They were both definitely a lot sweeter than some of their past characters! I think there's was a softness and tenderness to both their character's puppy love that they both had to bring to the screen. The Director was good at making things pretty...
