It's official, Hyun Bin and Yoo Hae Jin have reunited for another "Confidential Assignment." Yes, it has been confirmed that the two South Korean stars have signed the dotted lines and confirmed their roles in the Confidential Assignment sequel. For the unversed, the first movie in the franchise saw Hyun Bin essay the role of Rim Chul Ryung, a North Korean detective, while Yoo Hae Jin played the South Korean detective Kang Jin Tae. The duo teams up to catch a criminal. 

 

Soompi reports that the two actors will reprise their detective roles in the sequel and will watch Rim Chul Ryung and Kang Jin Tae team up again as the former heads back to South Korea to hunt a brutal and secret criminal organisation. Kang Jin Tae agrees to help the North Korean with the hoping of returning to the investigation team after a mistake resulted in his transfer to the cyber-crime department.

 

While the chase will be the prime focus, YoonA’s role as Park Min Young will receive more screentime. For those who haven't watched the first movie, she played Kang Jin Tae’s sister-in-law who holds a soft corner for Rim Chul Ryung. She deems herself as a beauty YouTuber. 

While these are a few returning faces, the franchise will see a couple of new stars joining as well. It has been revealed that Daniel Henney and Jin Sun Kyu will be appearing in the franchise. Daniel Henney will be seen playing Jack, an FBI detective from the United States. Meanwhile, Jin Sun Kyu will essay the role of the criminal organisation leader Jang Myung Joon. Lee Seok Hoon will the sequel, and it is expected to start filming in February.

The actors of the “Confidential Assignment” sequel gathered together for their first script reading!

 

Directed by Kim Sung Hoon, the 2017 film “Confidential Assignment” was about a North Korean detective named Rim Chul Ryung (Hyun Bin) and a South Korean detective named Kang Jin Tae (Yoo Hae Jin) teaming up to catch a criminal. Girls’ Generation’s YoonA also appeared in the 2017 film as the sister-in-law of Kang Jin Tae.

 

The sequel is tentatively titled “Confidential Assignment 2: International” and will be directed by Lee Seok Hoon, who has directed films like “The Pirates” and “The Himalayas.” It follows Rim Chul Ryung heading back to South Korea in pursuit of a brutal and secret criminal organization. He teams up again with Kang Jin Tae, who volunteers to work with the North Korean in order to get back on the investigation team after a mistake landed him in the cyber crime department.

 

Daniel Henney and Jin Sun Kyu will be appearing in the film franchise for the first time. Daniel Henney plays Jack, an FBI detective from the United States, who is on the trail of a North Korean criminal organization that has caused havoc all over the world. Jin Sun Kyu plays Jang Myung Joon, the leader of this criminal organization.

 

On February 13, CJ ENM took to Instagram to share stills of Hyun Bin, Yoo Jae Jin, YoonA, and Jin Sun Kyu at the script reading. The caption reads, “The ‘Confidential Assignment’ everyone has been waiting for has started again!”

 

In the photos, the actors show warm chemistry as they diligently go over the script together. Viewers can look forward to their teamwork on the big screen.
