Article from Soompi

SBS’s upcoming drama “Taxi Driver” has released its first teaser!

“Taxi Driver” is about a mysterious taxi service that takes revenge on behalf of victims who are unable to get justice from the law. Lee Je Hoon stars as Kim Do Gi, a former special forces officer who works as a driver for the mysterious taxi service. Esom co-stars as Kang Ha Na, a prosecutor who starts to get suspicious when the criminals she is chasing get wiped out one by one.

Kim Eui Sung and APRIL’s Naeun also appear in the drama as Jang Sung Cheol, the CEO of the mysterious taxi service, and Go Eun, a hacker who is skilled at finding and exposing personal information.

The teaser opens with Lee Je Hoon sitting behind the wheel of a taxi and picking up a call. In voice-over, he says, “Will you tell me? About the injustice that makes you wish you were dead?” The teaser hints at some hidden despair in Lee Je Hoon’s life as he approaches a bridge. Several desperate people have approached the bridge in the past, only to find a label with the taxi service’s contact information.

Kim Eui Sung says in voice-over, “Do you still believe in the justice of police and prosecutors? I’ve been preparing this work for a long time. Won’t you come take revenge with me?” As Naeun, Kim Eui Sung, and Lee Je Hoon carry out their revenge on behalf of their clients, Esom gets suspicious about the number of criminals that are vanishing as if they are being hunted down by a vigilante force.

“Taxi Driver” will premiere sometime in April 2021.

This drama is also going to re-shoot too. I guess it's good this came up now than later. The drama does air until April so there is time to re-shoot and edit. Although, I feel bad for all the cast and especially the drama crew.

The found a replacement for Lee Na Eun's character:

To be honest, I'm not familiar with either one of the actresses so I can't comment on the acting. I'm just glad that they were able to resolve this before the drama airs.

This drama is an adaptation of a webtoon

2. The Deluxe Taxi
Actors Lee Je-hoon, Lee Seom, Kim Eui-sung and singer-turned-actor Lee Na-eun from girl group April will take on the lead roles in the upcoming drama series "The Deluxe Taxi."

The original webtoon available on Naver provided catharsis to readers. It's centered on taxi driver Kim Do-ki who takes so-called “revenge calls” from his clients and acts as a paid hit man on their behalf. The clients are mostly victims who want to take revenge on their perpetrators because they feel society and the legal system has failed to properly punish them for their crimes. The R-rated story did not hesitate to depict violent and explicit scenes and received positive reviews for drawing out neglected social malaises.

In the drama series, the story will center around Do-ki the taxi driver, the perpetrators and the governmental authorities in pursuit of the criminals.

Producer Park Joon-woo of SBS drama series “Doctor Detective” will take the helm of production and screenwriter Oh Sang-ho of crime action films “Fabricated City" (2017) and “Code Name Jackal” (2012) wrote the script.

The series is scheduled to air on SBS from April.

Some explanation about the latest trailer that had PyoYeJin replace Lee Na Eun

http://www.xportsnews.com/?ac=article_view&entry_id=1403592

Trailer reposted here for reference

Spoiler

SBS' new Friday-Saturday drama "The Best Taxi," which is scheduled to air on  April 9 after "Pent House 2, is a private revenge drama in which Rainbow Transportation, a hidden taxi company, and Kim Do-ki (played by Lee Je-hoon), complete revenge on behalf of the victims. Based on the webtoon of the same name, director Park Joon-woo will oversee the production and Oh Sang-ho, a writer specialized in crime action entertainment, wrote the script. It foretells the birth of an action film.

Among them, "Best Taxi" released the first teaser video on the 18th, drawing keen attention. The teaser video opens with the appearance of Lee Je-hoon (playing Kim Do-ki), who starts a taxi and starts punishing the villain. Afterwards, with support from Kim Eui-sung (playing Jang Sung-chul), Pyo Ye-jin (playing Ahn Go-eun), Jang Hyuk-jin (playing Choi Kyung-gu), and Bae Yoo-ram ( playing Park Jin-eon), Lee Je-hoon's scene of destroying villains is unfolded, creating a thrill and foreshadowing the birth of the greatest dark hero.

Meanwhile, with the appearance of Lee Som (Kang Ha-na), tension rises. The chain of pursuit that leads to Lee Je-hoo to follow the villain, creates a chewy tension. In addition, Cha Ji-yeon (playing  Baek Sung-mi), appeared with an overwhelming aura at the end of the video, is at the peak of expectations for the character play that "Best Taxi" will show.

Then, the visual beauty as if watching a movie is also eye-catching. Vintage and stylish beauty, dynamic camera angles, spectacular actions, and car-cheasing make your eyes keep your eyes open for a second. Furthermore, active driving and braking sounds create colorful images and synergy, raising expectations.

I think I will watch this one. I was originally interested in it because of the story and I was curious to see LNE act (having watched her from Extraordinary You)...but then her bullying scandal put me off. Watching the new trailers now that she's been replaced, it looks good. The new actress actually does kinda look like her still...I guess they wanted a particular image for her character due to the webtoon.

Also I have to say in the posters, Lee Je Hoon is channelling both Ryan Gosling in Drive and Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver...haha, I suppose there's some similarities in both those stories too. But yeah, he has the cool, mysterious but deadly driver look down, alright!
