Actors Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin have officially confirmed their appearance in the drama "Ask the Stars."

 

It is a five-year production preparation period for "Ask the Stars," a drama set on the first attempted space station in Korea, and was written by Seo Sook-hyang, a master of romantic comedies such as " Pasta" and " Incarnation of Jealousy," and directed by PD Park Shin-woo, who proved her skills through "It's Okay Not to be Okay" and " How to Love Urban Men and Women."

 

"Ask the Stars" is a full-fledged "space romantic comedy" genre that goes between the space station and the Earth, and Lee Min-ho will play " Gong Ryong," a gynecologist with a sense of mission to leave for the space station as a space tourist, while Gong Hyo-jin will play the role of Korean-American astronaut " Eve Kim." What fateful meeting the two will draw in the new background of "The Universe," is highly anticipated not only among domestic fans but also among K-drama fans around the world.

 

"Ask the Stars," which launched a full-fledged production with news of the confirmed appearance of the two actors, will begin filming in April with the aim of releasing it on domestic channels and global OTT at the same time in 2023.

The kdrama has not aired yet, and there has not been a release of a single official poster, but Ask The Stars kdrama is all that everyone can talk about. they had filmed on April last year. please hold for just a minute. I'll call Min Ho Ssi for further information   oh sorry.. @movingwheel  , I haven't a clue. I'll look into it and get back to you with what I find. okay..

I watched episode 1 and thought, it's very much exactly the style of Jealousy Incarnate, i.e. weird. There were a lot of rambling in episode 1, and I couldn't appreciate the humour (same with Jealousy Incarnate). How this all started is quite silly, which I'm not sure the audiences would take on board. In summary, Gong Ryung (Lee Min Ho) was sent to space by his rich girlfriend's father to fertilise his daughter-in-law's egg with his recently deceased son's sperms. Apparently, the condition (zero gravity) could change the human's structure, e.g. straighten up the sperms 

 

The whole of episode 1 was spent on Gong Ryung's backstory, sending the space shuttle to the universe and extremely long bickering between Gong Ryung and Eve. Episode 2 was better, as we got to meet the rest of the casts, but there's still a tremendous amount of time wasted on Eve being excited about two fruit flies mating in space, more bickering between the leads and open-heart surgery on a mouse. 

 

Will I keep going? I guess I will, for now. Lee Min Ho is still pretty good with emoting through his deep-set stares. Man is dating the heiress (but does not love her and did not know what love is) but he's fallen for Eve. Meanwhile, Eve is dating Park Dong Ah (Kim Joo Hun). The lovelines are once again going to be messy, like Jealousy Incarnate.

@mademoiselle yeah, just tried 2 eps. And I skip so many parts. I overused FFD button too much. Lols. The story is totally weird. Not just that, imean does the writer couldnt think anything better than making the female lead estatic watching the flies or they r saving that mouse or the stupid idea of going to space with mission of fertilizing a sperm. What a joke? Gosh, I wonder why is LMH taking this kind of drama after one another. But one thing is entertaining me. Looking how hardworking GR to take it back from KKS.

@Alice Wonderland Have you watched ep 3-4? I watched it last night. Not in full concentration, but got through it. They threw in some suspense for the spacewalking. To be honest, I couldn't care less. Not to mention, it was kind of predictable that Gong Ryung was going to do something impulsive to save her.

 

Technically, I'm not sure the space theme is really required. In episode 4 they said few more days Gong Ryung will head back to earth, so I actually think the remaining of the drama will take place in Seoul, not in space.

 

I was more interested to know whether Kang Kang Su successfully fertilised the eggs. And I want to know whether he lied or it's true. I think there were 10 in total, and he fertilised 7. But I'm sure, they will fail, leaving 3 left for Gong Ryung to save the day.

I’ve watched 2 episodes and also not keen to continue, unless there is absolutely nothing else to watch haha.

 

The humour is slapstick. And there’s not much of a plot. But the chemistry between LMH and GHJ is not bad.
