The headache inducing family chart lols

Oh my goodness, I saw her post another translated video explanation about their family tree and I got so confused. Haha. Cheng Yi & Gong Jun's characters are cousins but Shen Yue is Gong Jun's mom. Where as Liu ShiShi would be Cheng Yi's mom. This is wild. Haha. I was just telling a friend I couldn't imagine if the series overlapped and the characters had cameo's.

This is airing and I watched a bit of the first episodes, but I don't think I'm into business type dramas right now. I didn't want to listen to the business talks at all. :nervous:

This is my newest obsession! The business part is quite intimidating in the beginning but it really does help. I'm caught up with all the episodes and the balance this show has is amazing! It's not overly done for the romance or business. Me and many others on MDL have agreed this one is the better one out of all the shows that are currently out now.

I feel like with the third lifetime, Chu Kong should stop listening to Qian Ren and Qian Mo. These boys are all the same -- clueless.

Ding Yuxi has great control over his facial expressions. His micro expressions are spot on. I can feel the excitement turned disappointment whenever they fail at cooking. LOL!

    :wow::wow:

I thought Ding Yuxi did a really good job at conveying Chu Kong's conflicted emotions in this scene.

LOL!! They sure don't. Poor Xiaoxiang walked around the sect openly talking about "pair practice" without a clue. 🤣🤣

I love all your GIFs. Such clear quality ❤️. May I ask what you use?

But yes, I love all his micro expressions especially those magical eyes of his. I cried so much with him already and we're only on Ep. 18. 😅

@OsmanthusTea The 2ML was not in the novel which is why I'm kind of annoyed that the drama included him. They already go through a lot without the addition of him. :GengarPout:

Is it bad that I want to see Ding Yuxi is all of those even if it's heavy? Haha! He looks so handsome!

I was quite surprised by all the new additions too. Everything is ok so far but the 2ML. I still can't seem to fully understand his purpose.

    HAHA. Blue is his color!

    @Tofu

In light heaven realms scenes, YCY is mostly fine but emotional scenes are a NO. She can't pull it off. She is so pretty with her unique eyes and features, she stands out among her peers look wise. She has great potential I really hope she can takes more acting lessons.

    @dramabler

Give me spoiler from the book please....

    • Heavenly Emperor, good or bad?
    • Prince XiuMing, good or bad?
    • Jian Lian, good or bad?

Btw, the styling for this drama is the more the merrier...:PsyWhat: YCY must need a neck massage after the wedding scene with all those wig and gigantic flowers plus massive amount of hair pins. The rest of the casts will go for deep tissue massage due to the massive amount of cloths with 100 layers of robes.....

Not to burst your bubble, but Xiuming and Jian Ling don't exist in the novel. I'm still a little irked by this addition but I'm hoping they have a greater purpose for being added in. The 30,000 backstory also doesn't exist so... things have changed a lot. As for the heavenly emperor, he's been changed so I have no idea if he's bad or good. In the novel, he's the one who punishes them and that's about it. He'll pop up here and there in the story but not as much as in the drama.

Lol. I love the extravagant clothing on them but I can't imagine all the weight. I still wonder how they were running away in those costumes.

Yes! It feels like something is missing. The new story is not bad at all, but I find the one in the novel more captivating. The feeling I had reading this lifetime in the novel, I didn't have watching it in the drama. It's like they missed the heart of this lifetime, if that makes any sense?

Was anyone else annoyed with the 2ML like I was? Granted, it seemed like he was possessed by an evil spirit, but I was like, "can you just go away?!" Haha!

At the end of episode 12, they are back in the heaven realm. I'm curious to see how they will settle their emotions for each other now that they are in their true forms.

By the way, the scenes with Ding Yuxi in his armor! Once again, I am reminded of how good of an actor he is. He had so much emotions in his expressions. 👏👏

    The airing schedule changed.

    008rkga-Mly1hgtyrb080kj30u04buu0x.jpg

Agreed! It was too focused on the political palace things. Lifetime 1 in the novel is my absolute favorite too! But yeah 2ML is annoying AF. I 'm trying to patiently understand his purpose but it's running thing lol.

I don't know how many times I've cried already for DYX in this drama. His eyes are the best part and always speaks volume. I love him for this. In the snow scene my heart was beating like crazy when he took her hand and ran off.

Chu Kong loves her too. Ahh! It's too bad she was asleep and didn't hear what he said.

I'm drawing a blank on the next lifetime -- this will be the one where Chu Kong doesn't drink the water to forget his memory, right?

The fact that he realized it was all her doing and not the mortal Xiangyun had me tearing up. He was so touched by her actions.

Yes, next lifetime is disciple and Master.

I'm caught up with all the episodes, even the ones from today (haha!). I'm actually a little bit surprised that Changkong's story is as long as it is. To me, I remember it being just a short portion at the beginning of the novel where Xiang Zi realized that she could love Chu Kong. I don't mind the new development though.

In regards to YCY's acting, there were some scenes where I wished her expressions were a bit more relaxed, but other than that, I think she's doing fine. I'm not blown away but I'm also not put off by her acting, if that makes sense. Ding Yuxi is great as usual.

I've been reading comments here and there about this drama and I think people should stop comparing it to Love Between Fairy and Devil. They are two different dramas and one is not a continuation of the other even though DFQC's right hand man is the new villain in this drama.

    Haha!

Going back to Changkong's story, I wished the development of what's happening with the Lu Family was a bit tighter in execution. I found myself wanting more out of this story. There were some parts that were quickly glossed over that I wished they took the time to explain.

Anyway-------Lusi and Esther made posts promoting the drama (they both were Ding Yuxi's previous costars)

      Hide contents

    With Esther's, she's also friends/bandmate with YCY.

Oh you read the novel too?! I loved the novel and was excited for Ding Yuxi in his first Xianxia. But I do feel there's something missing. I've seen the 1st 6 episodes but it feels incomplete. And I love their first lifetime. I'm not super convinced at his attachment towards Xiangyun like in the 1st one but I'm trying my best to keep an open mind.

Don't kill me but I never got around to watching LBFAD so I don't get the hype or crossover references (which are minimal) but I do agree. I hope the comparisons die down. They literally have nothing to do with each other except existing in the same universe.

Do you watch Mysterious Lotus Casebook?

I watched the 1st episode but haven't continued yet due to being oddly hooked on this one. 😅 Are you watching it? I plan on continuing it soon. Cheng Yi in Martial arts is 😍

@OsmanthusTea @dramabler lols, I ffd many episodes already so definitely no rewatch for me too. But agree that those two main leads GJ and RB deserve another better drama project together. Cuz their chemi is just great. I really hope they can get it soon beforeour hair turn to white.

They do! We didn't even get a kiss or proper hug. And Youku wants us to pay for extra episodes of their sweet moments. What a joke. We already went through so much. The least they could do is give us those scenes. I hope they do get paired again. I know they won't disappoint! They did good together here the story was just blah.

@dramabler I start ffd the episodes to get pass from 30 to 38. This almost have been good but somehow it gets draggy and they could cut it much short like until 30 to make the drama. I wonder how surprised HY once he gains his eyesight back to see his DYZ with white hair. Lols. Since I skip quite many wjat happened to her hair? The side effect of her illness before?

Basically, she was so heartbroken over Han Ye's "death" her hair turned white overnight. I don't question logic anymore in the drama lol.

But I just finished watching and story was a meh but the cast was an A+. I'm manifesting for a modern drama of GJ and Reba. They deserved much better than this. And so do we lol. The ending was ok but I think I was over this after seeing everything HY did. I was just waiting to see his character come to fruition.

The grief over AnLing, LMX and HY demise turned her hair white....

I'm finally done with this drama. No rewatch for me....I just hope Reba, GJ and LYN can works together again in the future under better production.

Yeah most likely no rewatch for me either. I don't know if I could recommend this but the cast is the main thing that keeps you going. Otherwise, don't go in for the story or you'll have white hair like Ziyuan. 😂

I was wondering what if WS is the long lost brother and it turned out so. No wonder their bond r felt strong. I see the twist r so abruptly and many. Lols. But even so, I like it! Hope it will be happy ending. It will right??

Yes it will but it's going to be what looks like a typical 5 minute happy ending. But I'll have some more high hopes for it and see how the last episode goes tomorrow.

This thread needs to be more lively. 😁

I like this really. I think it's been so long after the last time I enjoy period cdramas. They finally have some good storyline here. Bonus, I found my love for this handsome crown prince?

I will come back for more later. Quite late here. Good night all 😉

I'm glad you're enjoying it! Especially Crown Prince hehe 😆And there are definitely more twists coming! The story really picks up by Ep.20 and it seems you made it past that point so it'll be progressing after but still messy here and there. To answer your question above, Han Zi'an is the founding emperor (Han Ye's grandfather). The Di aunt was never the concubine but more so a good confidant of the founding emperor. The Empress Dowager was just jealous because her husband was spending more time with the Aunt.

Hello Saturday airs today with Dilireba, Gong Jun, Liu Yuning and other cast members! And their new photoshoot just dropped. The visuals are 🔥🔥 https://twitter.com/dramapotatoe/status/1687640676555784192?s=20

  12. I don't respond as much but I do have to agree. If not for the leads, I would have dipped a long time ago. And after all this mess, I can still proudly say my bias is Han Ye. It took a while for his character to pick up traction but I like that he's exactly what I was hoping for. A clever guy who's more than what meets the eye. Even if the execution of him isn't that great, it was worth the wait and pining for his character when others thought he was blah.

A lot of users on MDL helped to explain a lot of points from the novel but I still don't think they should have to do that if the adaptation was decent. Shows how poor the writing is. And I agree about the whole "show not tell" concept. We're getting the opposite instead making things more confusing.

But any who, the latest war episodes were well portrayed by Han Ye and Anning. All other characters were annoying lol. This is my first Gong Jun drama and I'm warming up to him. I want to watch another one of his dramas but I don't think he's had any other good ones besides WOH?

  13. This one finally aired after almost 2 years! Lots of summer dramas airing and I ended up choosing this one. Don't know how I feel yet but I am enjoying the chemistry of Reba and Gong Jun. Their chemistry is bouncing off each other so naturally.

Youku released a new poster today and it's so sweet. 🥺

Currently watching on Viki.  Taking my time.  I’ve dropped so many CDramas recently.  hope to finish this one.  I think WQ is a good actress.

on episode 8… will look fwd to 12

I needed a mental break from costume dramas so this one hit the spot. She's a natural with rom-com. I didn't quite like her in Light Chaser Rescue but she's hilarious here.

@dramabler I haven't started because I read they have auto translated subs. I don't know if I have the time to try to figure out what's being said.

Oh yeah there were a few issues with the 1st 4 episodes I believe but they fixed it. It was actually kind of funny to read. They were close but off enough to make a good laugh.

It was only a few eps that were really bad.  WeTV went back and subbed them and now Viki is subbing/releasing the drama too (they're just behind the WeTV schedule).

I'm watching and up-to-date with all the eps.  That kiss scene really is something else, hahaha!  It's a winner that's for sure.

I only got to Ep.12 but I was so shocked to see that scene. I was 🫣the whole time. LOL!! My innocent eyes.

  16. Anyone else watching this? I'm so behind in drama land but I couldn't miss out on Zhang Binbin! And I haven't gotten there yet but that kiss scene has been circulating and OMG!! 🥵 ZBB does not disappoint.

I've done a first impression video if anyone wants to check it out. Just for pure rambling fun.

Totally!! Leo delivers superbly!! The chemistry between CP are flawless. I'm up to date with the latest eps, heart breaking yes but satisfying at the same time. MY deserved it, in many ways. Such a wuss husband....

This is my 2nd drama of his and just wow! I never watched "Love is Sweet" but I think the both of them being in a drama before definitely helped the chemistry. It's so natural. I'm a little conflicted about the MY character. Many things were too bad on his part for being slow but they both are so bad with communication. Not to mention, the biggest home wrecker Tian Huan. I had no idea why they both were even listening to her. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I'm glad SJ got her revenge though. Well deserved.

@OsmanthusTea Hahaha! Work has been really busy the last two weeks so I'm behind on a lot of dramas. I like a well done xianxia so I do plan to watch it once things are not as crazy. I caught a glimpse of episode one and the CGI looks good.

I thought the entrance was great until I saw that the marking on his forehead looked like a cheap stick-on tattoo. :GengarPout:

Awhh well if you do get to check it out, do let us know your thoughts. CGI has not disappointed at all. A few cheesy scenes here and there but not too bad overall.

  18. @OsmanthusTea see I don't quite like Xianxia's either but if it weren't for the novel, Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi I don't think I would have tuned in. I didn't even watch LBFAD despite everyone raving about it.

However, this show is not disappointing! Luo Yunxi is a whole other level as TTJ. The current arc with them in the dream world is breaking my heart though. Their chemistry is getting to me good. 😭
