I thought I am getting a boring propaganda drama, but I got a cute and funny romcom. Why only eight episodes?!

Xiaobai and Songyun look so cute together, and I agree with @NiteWalkerthat the height difference made it even more sweet. 
Netizens in China were joking that they are doing a village romcom and they want 80 episodes of this. I can sign up for that!

Yes, I think their unit will air later around July 6th? There are only 8 episodes I think. The trailer looks fun and I laughed out loud when I saw Xiaobai's colorful underwear. hahahaha

I think if done well, this genre can be very good. They picked Xiaobai probably partially because of his experiences with Who's murderer. He also did this Who's murderer spinoff drama, which was quite good (he was smoking hot in it and played multiple roles). 

Anyway, my hope is that this will open some doors for him in terms of future projects. For instance, Daylight Ent is known for good quality costume dramas, so maybe we will be able to see Xiaobai in costumes again.

I love Xiao Bai with glasses too so I hope they keep it (they should since he's in IT right? ). I mentioned it to @NiteWalker that there's a 9 years gap between Xiao Bai and Zhao Jinmai but it barely looks that way. Xiao Bai looks so young! I wonder if playing this IT person is why he got leaner?

I knew that he would start shooting soon when he got super lean... I guess it does look very good on camera and he looks totally student/nerd like. 

I read that the shooting period is just 70 days, so let us hope that we won't need to wait that long for it to air.

It is supposed to be a thrill/suspense type of drama and he is playing an IT guy. I really like him with glasses!

The crew is quite solid: the same producer who produced dramas like <nirvana in fire>, and the director is also part of the nirvana director team, he also directed <like a flowing river>. 

The drama will be very short - around 20 episodes.

I am excited!!!

Yes - very curly actually. You can also see that when his hair is wet.

He posted these two photos of his hair a couple months ago to show how curly it is naturally. I think this is also why he often wear hats ;-)

Thanks! This was the last episode of Season 6 and they connected the plot with the spinoff show of him and Wei Chen. Was quite fun to watch!

Xiaobai mentioned in an event today that he is gonna starting shooting soon... but we don’t know what he is gonna shoot yet.

I have my guess given how skinny he is recently and how he has been keeping his hair short

Apparently he bought the song right a long time ago and it took him a while to produce it. He said that he didn’t want to do it earlier because he didn’t have many drama shown to the audience yet so he was not very confident. 
 

Now I need to watch the newest episode of Happy Camp! 

I finished Ordinary Glory. I must say it is quite good. It is all around solid and probably one of best modern drama that is about white collar workplace. It is a slice of life type of drama, but has a bit of heavy tone just because it is about ordinary people and their daily struggle. 
I think Xiao Bai did well in it - I grew to like Mark Zhao’s character as well (he was yelling too much at the beginning).

Highly recommend if this is your type of drama :-)

Haha - I understand. It is not a easy one to watch, and at times too real that it hurts. But I do agree that BJT is quite good in it.

I stopped watching 8090 because I was getting a little frustrated too. 

 

I have not seen Ordinary Glory because there are no subs. =( I think it is the remake of the Korean drama, Miseng, right? That was a really popular drama when it aired in Korea. 

 

 

 

Haha - yes, the boss is too shy, but the employee at the studio decided to go for it for the benefits of the world. hahaha 

Regarding 8090, the editing is all over the place. I don't know what they are doing with Xiao Bai's parts, because they released some 20 minutes long so-called BTS (which in reality are actual scenes) of GSS on MGTV and you had to pay extra to watch it. Those are all important scenes that influence the completeness of the storyline, and how can you do this just to make more money?!!! I got so mad! I think I will only watch Xiao Bai's cut once it finishes airing... But it is such a shame, because the topic, the cast are so good. And, I really like GSS as a character. 

Re Ordinary Glory... yes, it is a remake of Miseng. I think they bought the IP of the original cartoon (?) and adapted it to the Chinese context. It is a shame that there is no sub... I am watching it on YT, and I think it is a high quality drama. Not perfect in any way, but a very solid project.

Yes - he really did. He said that he was about 54 KG when he was shooting The Rise of Phoenixes because you need to be very skinny to look good in costumes. Then he kept it like this when we was shooting Ordinary Glory as the character is supposed to be someone who is more on the lean side. Right after Ordinary Glory, he shot Ping Pong, and that was the process documented in the first video where he buffed up... from less than 60 KG to 75KG.. all muscle gain...

And I think what impressed me more is when asked about it, he said it was not a big deal because it is for the character and it is just part of his job. 

He looks super think again now, which makes me think whether he is preparing for shooting again.

I caught up to the latest episodes last night. 

I think the storyline of Grandpa Changsheng (the one obsessed with living a long life) is funny and touching. I think they will start to focus on individual grandpa/grandma's story now, which I think will be good for the pace of the drama.

I have to say, Sanshuang does not have too much screen time so far (he literally appeared 0 minutes in Episode 11, I mean seriously...) but now he has quit his job (about time!) and moved to the elderly care home, I hope we get to see him more. His interaction with Grandpa Changsheng is funny and sweet!!

I really like this new hairstyle of him. I wonder if he cuts his hair because he needs to shoot the rumored police movie... Please let it be true!!!

Part of being in the rabbit hole of BJT is to watch all the stuff he is in. Then I found this germ of short, interactive drama called 目标人物 - it is spinoff of Who's murderer? and tells many small murder solving stories. BJT is so cool in the drama!!!

I agree - none of his roles is of the same kind, and I appreciate his ambition as an actor.

I am still holding my opinions on this drama though. I think the storyline between the FL and her grandma is a bit off pace wise (either too fast or too slow). I read that Hunan TV would actually made cuts to the drama to fit their schedule, which explains why certain parts of the episodes are not coherent. So I would recommend you all to watch the DVD version (which is the original version) - I think the ones they release on Huace YT channel or on VIKI are the right ones. 

@Tofu I just want to say that I like your profile gif 😂😂😂
