  1. @JenL @Just_Me @eNDe you should def join us for uncanny counters! It’s really helped me move on. Lol. I literally started it on a whim because I was so bored and ddsslls left a void.  Completely different genres, but I like it. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but so far I’m really liking it!

also I didn’t make the connection! Juns dad is the mayor?! 😱 haha I don’t know why I always never recognize other “non” main actors in other dramas! Maybe because I feel like they still belong in the other world???

  2. I also wonder what makes SM so special. The fact that wigen was able to enter his body seemed like a special occurrence as well. I don’t think it’s ever been done before? Ack, I can’t wait for episode 5! I’ve recommended this drama to all my friends, hope the writing continues to be good , the acting is already phenomenal amongst all the cast members. I’m usually ok with gore, but that last scene I couldn’t watch.

    Two episodes in...

A superhero drama I didn't know I needed. (As if I'm not watching too many dramas already)

Yay! And a fantastic one at that! Wow... so so good. The good press it's getting is absolutely deserved. I liked it from the moment I saw the intro. Really. Which almost never happens.

Watched it with the second child who is a big fan of My Hero Academia and she loved it. Thought that Mun's curly look reminded her of Midoria. Said second child is now scouring the internet for the webtoon.

I loved everything about the first couple of episodes. Did everything well. Was a good introduction to the characters, the team and the world-building. Loved the kid who plays Mun who is nailing the role.

OCN... definitely on a roll this year.

I found the webtoon, it’s in korean though. Not sure if there’s a translated version. http://webtoon.daum.net/webtoon/view/AmazingRumor

Yay! So glad that you're watching this drama as well! It does fill the DDSSLLS void even if it's a totally different genre and style of drama. The story is very satisfying so far, so let's hope they don't ruin it in the final stretch.

I knew he was a veteran actor, but no idea he was 51. Wow! His body is so ripped! And, love the montage of him working out, his body glistening only for ajumma MO to come in, casually remark on his body, but then start nagging him. LOL

HHa I don’t know if any drama can top the ending of ddsslls! :p

I was watching their episode on knowing brothers and he has two sons and the oldest is 18! He looks so good for his age!

Interesting to meet the heavenly counterparts to the counters. We had already met WiGen who is SM's, and GiRan who is MT's. This time we meet Soo Ho who is MO's. However, it seems that Soo Ho may also be the dead son of MO's from SooHo's conversation with WiGen? @LaLa, what do you think?

That was exactly what I thought when I watched the scene between wigen and sooho. I thought he was healer counter Ahjummas son when he said he did the same to his mom.

I love how this drama is written. It’s got me laughing and crying in a span of minutes and love all that societal topics this drama addresses all throughout.

I picked this drama up on a whim when I saw it on Netflix to help with the ddsslls void and am so glad I did!! I’ll be looking forward to it every week!

also! Can you believe the actor that plays motak is 51?! His body was unreal. I can’t imagine the strength and discipline he must have to have made his body like that! I’m so impressed. I have no excuses!

Hahaha, I feel like if it was a South Korean thing, those South Korean viewers you mentioned wouldn't be upset because they could relate to it and they'd be like, "oh yeah, happens sometimes"...but it sounds like a lot of people found it weird, so I don't know if it's cultural. But I have heard weird stories like that though where someone experienced a faked death of a friend or ex, only to see them later. Almost like they were extremely ghosted by a person. Maybe it did happen to them. Would be so damn weird.

hmmmmm.... I’m korean American and I’ve never heard of this being a common cultural thing in korea? Faking a death?! Haha. Death by fan? Yes. But fake deaths? No.

After enduring the unendurable haha I was so happy for PSH that her mother was able to kill the lunatic murderous girl! BUT HECK NO! the ending credits spoiled my happiness, the future killer girl is a clever one, she warned her past self because she heard Park Shin Hye talking to her mother over the phone and somehow manage to talk to her other self before the mother and the police came! But for me it's a loophole BECAUSE, her past self already died! how could she still exist in the future?! just saying! But it was a good scare and I liked the transition parts whenever they were able to change something, it was well executed. The actors were brilliant as well, very believable in their portrayal. What are your thoughts?:)

I DEMAND A SEASON 2, whose with me?

Do you have a link to the article with netizen reaction? I’m curious to see what korean netizens thought about that ending.

ah! I wish they would do a season 2 or even a 1 hour to extension to tie up/explain everything, but Sadly I think that’s super rare.

@CINNABOM welcome to the thread! Yes despite the ending, I did love the rest of the drama so I’m thankful for this gem. I’ve been a korean drama watcher for a long long time now, and I only rarely become active on threads for a very rare few of them. So there was something about this drama that captured my heart.

@JenL totally understand Wanting to stay away from the other dramas this writer has written!!!  I’m watching start up too! Just looked up someday or one day and i don’t think it’s available on Netflix in America??? Not popping up for me. I’ll look up both recommendations though, thank you!

@Unnie0110 after your post on watching the call, I went and watched it lol. Man, freaked me out so much. Did you end up finishing it? I need someone to discuss that ending with. Haha

  10. @Just_Me yes, Juns mom never says he died. She just said he can never come back, but Lala makes the assumption that he died and the mom never corrects her. Which I found so bizarre. How can she not correct her? “No he’s hasn’t died, but he’s really really sick and we don’t think he has much time” or something like that? Also why wouldn’t she go to the funeral? Or ever visit his grave?? Just like her dad she never visited him? Unless they show that off camera.

You guys are saying goodbyes too soon. I still haven't watched it yet. Plus, don't forget there are still behind the scenes. That surely would be better than the actual finale, hahaha!

@eNDe I hope to see you more in other drama threads. Also, if you want a really good (and I mean good ending etc) then try out 18 Again (Here I am trying to sell the drama again, hahaha) :pandaheadstomp:. When there's end to a drama, there's a beginning of a new one. Hope to see you back here spazzing about a new one in another drama thread/s.

I really enjoyed 18 again too!!! Would def recommend it!

I think we would be banding together to strangle the writer. Was she so pissed off with life that she wrote that ending?

Thank you @Mapleoaks5 and @Unnie0110 for writing some better deserved endings that RaRa and Jun should have gotten. I gave myself a good sleep instead of being mad at the ending we saw and I too felt the need to write my own ending for them.

I did what I said I would, I watched both episodes back to back and right at the beginning of ep 15, somehow my senses tell me that I won't be getting the ending I like because the pace was rather off, the overuse of RaRa remembering her moments with Jun and the focus again wasn't what I needed. Yes, writer disguise it by putting more scenes of RaRa and Jun together in ep 15 but then I kinda know her bluff and that ep 16 will be opposite of it where she will focus more on all the other characters.

With my personal experience witnessing my mum being diagnosed with cancer just last year then a major surgery soon after followed by the slow and painful recovery, I didn't think I could survive without mental support from my sisters and good people. Both for me as the caregiver and my mum, the patient.

I would have written RaRa being there for Jun all the way no matter what happens. Her physical presence and music could have helped him tremendously and also the people and friends he made in Eunpo. That's how he can focus on health and recovery, not by being away from all of them.

The moment Jun's mum came to tell RaRa the sad news, my fingers were quick to check the timestamp and fast forward to see if Jun would appear again whether or not as a dream, flashback or RaRa visiting his grave as she did with her father. Heck maybe she would visit both graves! Instead, Jun appeared alive with no better explanation and get away with another big lie/secret for a good 5 years. That's a no no for me. I didn't think I would ended up not liking Jun now. You tell one big lie and get away with it, you're gonna be doing it again and again throughout your life so unless this Jun version 2.0 gets a tell off from Grandpa (the only one he seems to listen to), I don't see RaRa and Jun will be entirely fine and dandy in the future. And what's up with writing off Grandpa's character just like that too.

Jun knows it was hard for RaRa with her father's death so why can't he be with her even through sickness as he asked her not to let him go after the confession in ep 8. Maybe if I could edit the show, I'll just end it at ep 8 for these two characters. I did think we also probably deserve an epilogue at the end of ep 16 of just the two of them in the following days or years from the final reunion but then I think that should have been in all of ep 16! WTH.

What irks me is that Jun has never thought RaRa could brave the storm in their relationship. Even at the last piano scene when RaRa played the welcome song, she demonstrated her courage by living another day to the fullest.

Overall I find the finale a waste of GA and LJW's great chemistry to make the ending a stronger impact as RaRa and Jun that we grown to love where they are at their best together when helping each other, being understanding, fun and quirky. NOT whatever we saw towards the end of the show.

Will watching their bts clips be a better consolation for the ending we got? :heiboi:

Thank you for sharing your story about your mom. I also completely agree with you saying that jun never thought that Lala would be able to weather the storm with him. It was incredibly selfish of him to make decisions for her. At least tell the girl the truth and allow her agency to decide what she wants to do. Knowing Lala, I totally see her rising to the occasion and becoming a great source of comfort and strength to jun in his time of need. I rewatched the latter half of the episode and I tried putting myself in her shoes. If I were her, even if it didn’t make sense that Jun was back, I would let logic fall to the wayside and would be overjoyed that my love has come back. So I guess in that snapshot moment, she doesn’t question him further. But what about after the fact?

I feel like the entire basis and foundation of their relationship is shattered because essentially he’s just been lying to her the entire time. So now afterwards, after all the good feelings of my love returning has subsided. I feel like there would be a lot of trust issues going forward with the relationship. Maybe Lala can look past that and be able to move on and live happily with Jun, but me? I don’t know.

sigh. I still feel so salty about this ending.

Thanks @stroppyse for clarifying that! I never know how trustworthy some translation can be as I know some words/phrases cannot be easily translated.

Sigh...I'm just going to pretend that episode 16, and maybe 13, 14, and 15 did not exist. DDSSLLS was only 12 episodes long, right??

Yup. I think it officially ended at episode 12. Lol. After stealing the bride away they eloped and lived happily ever after.

  14. I wrote my own ending.

if they wanted to stick to the storyline that jun was sick, they should have had his mom come and say that Jun was really sick. In fact, he’s in a coma now. (Since we throwing all sorts of tropes out there) Lala then decides she wants to stick by Juns side and takes care of him in those 5 years. He miraculously wakes up and they get married and have their happily ever after.

or, jun fesses up to Lala that he’s sick. She’s shocked but decides to be by his side and care for him. He doesn’t have a coma, but treatment takes a while. It’s touch and go for awhile. But he ends up pulling through. They get married and have their happily ever after.  They have a kid and their kid is best friends with hayoung and seung gi kid.

Or, jun never had cancer. He bought lalaland in exchange for him going abroad to medical school. He’s honest to Lala about the exchange and promises that he’ll come back for her after he’s done with school. They maintain a long distance relationship and he’s finally done with medical school and he’s able to stand on his own two feet now. They reunite, and finally get married and have their happily ever after.

Hide contentsLee Jae Wook is a striking charismatic man, though, so hope to see him in another project soon, though perhaps not in a rom-com.

I don’t think I’ll be able to go back and appreciate the ending/drama later on. Honestly it just felt like they were toying with the viewers emotions.  But the one bright spot that comes out  from this is Lee Jae wook, even though his character was done dirty in the last 3 episodes, I thought the actor was great and can’t wait to see him in another drama!

Off note: happy thanksgiving to any of my fellow Americans here! Stay safe and healthy.

  16. Wtf was that ending?

    Spoiler

Ok so Lala thinks he’s DEAD for 5 years and all of sudden he shows up? He didn’t contact her at all because he wanted to be completely better????? Did I miss something here? Cause I started fast forwarding as soon as she thought he was dead. Wow. What a way to completely ruin a great drama.  That little throwaway reunion at the end was not satisfying at all. Wow. I think this goes down in history as one of the worst endings for me. Like jun said, I wish their happy ending just ended at the beach. Seriously I’m just left scratching my head. I was convinced they would get their happy ending, but not like this. Last time I felt burned by a dramas ending was cheese in the trap, but I think this one tops it. I still can’t get over the ending. Wtheck was the writer thinking? Wtheck was jun thinking? At this point he doesn’t deserve Lala. They should break up. Bah.

  17.  @stroppyse I think I’m able to forgive Jun for the heartache he caused Lala. If you think about it, although he’s very mature for his age, he’s still 19/20ish years old. I’m sure he’s really scared and terrified, not only about his illness, but that he may put Lala through even more pain through his death. Obviously, I don’t agree with him hiding his illness from her, but I can understand where he was coming from with his ridiculous charade.

he quickly changed his mind after realizing that Lala still misses and loves him and he probably realized he doesn’t have the mental resolve to just leave her like that. Part of me wonders what the point was with all the shenanigans, but I guess that’s kdrama for you. I had said before the one reason why I would understand/forgive Jun was if he was really sick. I didn’t think show was actually going to go that route because I thought this drama was supposed to a light hearted romcom. I’m also pretty sure he’s gonna be healed from his cancer and they’ll have their happy ever after.

    Spoiler.

I totally agree! Did he really have to go out of his way to break LL's heart so thoroughly and make her cry? I honestly don't know if he'll be able to get as much love from me, even with a good explanation. Too mad at him still, and just want LL to learn how to beat people up from Min Su so that she could give Jun the good kicking that he needs. I really don't see how I'm going to think that what Jun did was the right thing, especially the way he did it.

Hey, maybe episode 14 will turn out to just all be a dream sequence? Just saying.

@stroppyse I’ve been seeing some comments of people being ardent Jun supporters. They’re saying we should trust Jun and that he always has been working for the good of Lala and that he’s so heartbroken and down this episode etcetc...And Yes, I totally 100% get that he’s doing all this to benefit Lala and eunpo folks, maybe he’s being watched so he’s acting etcetc...I just don’t agree with the way he’s doing things. Don’t get me wrong, I still like Jun. I just think he’s being a huge noble idiot.

  19. @JenL there was some angst in shopping king Louis, but it didn’t delve into something like ddsslls. It gets resolved fairly quickly and the ending is good! I think my issue with ddsslls is that the hurt Jun is inflicting is pretty high. I still can’t get over the picture of him holding hands with her, he could have just broken up with her, why go so far to stage that hand holding scene? I don’t know how the writers are going to address all this commotion Jun has created, where we as viewers will say “ oh that totally makes sense, jun! What you did was the right thing”

  20. I rewatched it just now too because when I first watched it raw I forwarded through a lot to see if the preview was punking us. Second time fully watching it, my heart feels all twisted. Poor Lala, no matter what excuses/reasons Jun has, he did her dirty. He could have just been upfront about his reasons for breaking up, instead of doing this. I don’t know how the show will be able to redeem this and turn the ship around. It’ll have to be DANG good for them to fix this mess. I’m like Lala though, still have a sweet spot for Jun and desperately want a happy ending for them. I know they will end up together, but again, they really need a dang good reason to clear up this past episode. There’s so much crap in 2020! This show was supposed to be our escape!!!

  21. I don’t mind separation if there is a clear reason and it makes sense to the character and storyline. When Jun and Lala first separated due to him being a runaway, that completely made sense to me and I felt was the right course of action. If they had to do yet ANOTHER separation, why go about it like this? Him holding the other girls hand?! Like what?! What was the purpose of that? Kind of cheapens Juns love for LL. Again, I hope the show will show us that the picture is not all that is depicted.  I just feel like the Jun being shown to us in ep 14 is not the Jun we’ve come to know and love from episode 1-13.

I’m really hoping this gets solved in the next episode because i don’t need 10 minutes of happiness tacked on to the end like @JenL said. I feel like so many dramas start out really great and then lose their steam or throws all these random scenarios at the end. It does such a disservice to the great writing it’s shown thus far.
