  1. Hahahaha... I have the exact same thought. In more current settings, I find myself thinking they're all driving driverless cars now. Product placement. Hahaha...
  2. So our prime suspect turned out to be our prime culprit, though for reasons unexpected. Makes sense now why he was not enraged at wife’s affair. It does look like Sol Hee loses her ability and then likely lives the life she’s always wanted… but no money making ability now… work for Do Ha lah… hahaha… how will this stretch for another 2 episodes then?
  3. Just watched episode 1. I’m intrigued. And it doesn’t seem like the guy’s actually dead? Not sure yet how this will unravel, but the stories of old and present for now do not seem connected. Yet.
  4. @ktcjdramathey found a man’s ring, right? Not hers. now I’m wondering if Deuk Chan’s brother is the murderer.
  5. @ktcjdrama Maybe it’s just a dip before the next story arch… I am starting to wonder if Do Ha is indeed telling the truth. I still find it too simplistic that his guilt is what is making Sol Hee hear his statement “I did not kill her” as a lie. Something feels odd about it. And his ring… did he really throw it into the ocean? Have to back watch. Thing is, his ex-gf was so infatuated with him, did she not keep her ring? It wasn’t found with the skeleton?
  6. I’ve added this to my week’s watch so there’s something for most nights in the week. :D It’s an interesting storyline so far. I also find it very funny that he’s very aware that he’s under a spell because clearly there’s some kind of dissonance between where logic resides and everything else instinctive. I wonder if he’s aware because (clearly) he is familiar with shamanism and folk spells. Would the other guy have been as aware if he had been the one to drink the potion? And everyone else who might have had a sip? I am now very curious about the Shaman Halmoni though. Clearly Shin Yu’s family is taking care of her, and in quite the upscale home for the elderly too. Question is who is she to the family and what the origin of this curse is. Why is it also that dad seems to have survived the curse but possibly not him?
  7. Just finished watching this week's episode, and not that I want the next Monday to come quickly, but I do want to know what's gonna happen next! I need to rewatch this weeks' episodes again (cos I was watching them in instalments through the day), but my initial thoughts are... It's getting exciting! I like that her ex gave her a new perspective - you hear lies but you do not hear the reasons behind them. And I love it that their relationship is getting stronger and she's willing to see beyond the obvious and still believe him. I'm just wondering why the statement "I did not" is being heard as a lie. Very simplistically, if "I did not" is not true, then "I did" must be true. But we are clearly being led to think that he did not, so what did he do then? Is it false guilt that's speaking? If it is his bestie Hyung that could possibly be the one (though what would the motivation be? At the time, Do Ha was still not a famous songwriter so surely it was not for his business yet?), is it the lie of protecting him? But the semantics of the sentence still does not make sense to be picked up as an untruth. It should have been picked up as a truth statement still.
  8. Was wondering what to fill my drama calendar with now that King the Land is done. Decided to binge the first 4 episodes over the weekend and am now nicely caught up with episode 5 last night. I think I rather like Hwang Minhyun - I don't find an issue with his acting and thought him ok in AOS as well. Am liking the pace of the story too. And this "lying in his sleep". I wonder too if the ex is really dead. No body found? A bit odd ya? But then again, he changed his name. There's a good chance she might've as well? But why is it that him saying he didn't kill her is heard as a lie? The emotions are probably very complex. He might not have been the one to drive whatever supposed weapon it was into her, but the guilt of causing her to be devastated by their breakup could be in his mind also why he subconsciously believes he killed her too. Whatever the case, the drama has got my attention. Let's go, episode 6! (I know they're trolling us with those images of her being on the bed and him either dressing up... or down... heh, Whatever.)
  9. As simply as it started, as simply it ended. This story remained true to its fairytale form - character development (if any), happened in leaps(fill in any logical gaps yourself), crises were quickly averted (even sis lost her drive despite telling him "this ain't over yet"), Sarang leaves KTL to run a successful Airbnb, Pyeonghwa ends up having no real mother-in-law to contend with, Daeul continues to successfully lord it over her useless husband, Gu Won's dad accepts her, his mom and dad look to be on the road towards reconciliation, even stepdaughter's son calls mom "grandma"... and the couple walk down the aisle eventually, in the hotel that Gu Won can truly call his own. Sorta. I do still wonder what happened to Sarang's parents, and I do still wonder how the tourist hotel Gu Won bought got transformed without Sarang. I also want to know if King Air and Alanga eventually come under Gu Won's charge too or does sister still manage those. I'm sure the rest of you also have other things left to your imagination, but well... hahaha... It was fun nevertheless.
  10. @abs-oluteM Love your summary ending: "... and evil sister is not done yet." Hahahah... @Chocolate I would like to think it was at least 5 minutes of screen time, but nah.... Some scenes of him and Mr No burning the midnight oil, Sarang coming to deliver food and sweet smiles, and then ta-dah! Announcement of all he has done to bring dad's dream to fruition. And all of that with his 2-man team. And one cheerleader. You definitely have to clap for that. Hahaha... Evil sis has her sad story of coming home with an achievement certificate to show dad, only to find him having a good family time playing with Won while his second wife watches with smiles and all... perfect family moments that excluded her. And so she tears up her certificate in bitterness, not having even once tried to show it to her dad. His sister is just full of bitter envy, but the entire back story isn't clear you see. Did her mother pass on, and then dad moves on and finds new love and a new wife? Or did dad's first marriage end up in a divorce because of an affair? That bit's not clear. As Won himself says, he's not an illegitimate son. But it will never be easy for a child to see her parent remarry. In any case, Won's sister represents the old chaebol mentality, dad represents those who tried to change but could not, and Won is the panacea for it all because he will show it can be done!! Heh heh heh...
  11. @Chocolate Actually, not just a proposal. He went ahead and got certain things going to get King Hotel to become an international hotel chain than just a local luxury hotel. Which is great and all, but back to the plot and holes - lots of them - how does anyone just pick up the phone, make calls, and ta-dah! Hotel is on its way to become an international chain with international offices. Makes his sister look helluva stupid if she, being in this line for so long, could not see that the solution was so simple? Gu Won must have lotsa connections for being sent (presumably) to top international prep schools in Europe... So perhaps like what she's believed all this while - Gu Won has simply been favoured all this while because he simply has been the male child she could not be. So plot holes remain and the storyline is still all of cotton candy fluff, cos no matter how difficult it seems to be now for Sarang (being exiled to King Tourist Hotel and all that), we know she's gonna come out of it alive and well, Gu Won is not just going to be President of King Hotel but President of the entire King Group since dad has effectively kicked her out of the company already (which by the way, was also exceedingly easy to do). All said, I'm still enjoying all of the senseless fluff, cos that's what fairytales are made of, and I do so enjoy myself a fairytale every now and then.
  12. Was that the longest Travel Thailand ad ever! Right up till Episode 12 they were still talking about Bangkok and Tiger Balm (which is a Singapore brand!). At least the show is starting to get exciting although a bit late in the show. I’m just thinking - she made a mistake in service on the Dream Team! Oh no! But anyhoo… Gu Won’s actually been written as a rather reckless character. His sending the girls on a trip out of company account - I’m just surprised it hasn’t blown up in his face yet. I’m always wondering when the 2 of them are going to be discovered by staff and then all of Sarang’s good work goes down the drain cos everyone would assume she got wherever she was because of him. And then Mr No - he’s got to be a double agent, no? These elements, while interesting, seem very haphazardly thrown in. I’m still liking the show, but boy is it messy in structure and development. The story telling is a bit randomly paced with all sorts of things happening all over the place. Much like life, maybe.
  13. Loving those bottles of salt! Hahaha...
  14. @mademoiselle@abs-oluteM I know the plot (what plot?) is slow in developing, but I have to say I like the mindlessness of it. It's the sort of show that doesn't take much energy to process - there's no real tension or anxiety for anyone anywhere. And yes, it doesn't take much grey matter to process. It is for these reasons that I am enjoying this show and can see why it's getting good ratings in SK too. Afterall, there are enough heartaches going around in the world today. I'm all for some good, mindless distraction. We're at mid-point of the show though, and as minute as things may appear, something is developing. I know it seemed like Gu Won managed to get the Arab prince's business a little too easily, but I have to say I was expecting it and it was nice to see that Gu Won actually has some connections of his own that his sister wasn't even aware of. And yes, as much as he said they weren't friends, they really were. The sort of friend you would have a love-hate relationship - clearly, Gu Won loved to gate him. Hahaha... I like it that through Sarang, Gu Won's starting to think about the lives of those around him a bit more. It's taking him off his chaebol pedestal of unreal existence. Mgr No wasn't enough. He needed to encounter more everyday people. Her friends - helping them make illegal sales in the sauna and learning why they were doing it - are bringing a new reality to him. And I don't think he's finally wanting to amass power just to protect Sarang. I do think he is starting to appreciate his everyday employees too. I am liking this show. Simple plot, simple story, but a happy one. Fairy tales are nice to watch. Easy on the heart.
  15. @Chocolate Hahaha... yes, that leap off the cliff was... something. It's so absolutely ridiculous, I can only imagine it was meant for comedic effect... yet it wasn't really funny? Aiyoh.
  16. @abs-oluteMHahaha... I'm still holding out for a plot. It's just really slow getting there. I was hoping so hard that when GW had that Gukbap moment with his dad, that the issue of who he saved and why and the outcome would come up, but none of that. Perhaps indeed the business has been run by persons with no heart. Maybe dad once had a heart but look where that got him? A son by a woman he had to abandon. And maybe GW meeting Grandma allowed for SR to see him in a new way, a new light, and these lessons he's "learning" from the heartlands is what will allow him to come back at mean ol' sis with roaring success! Maybe I'm writing the plot for them.
  17. Ok. We’re in by 6 episodes and yet nothing much has moved as @mademoiselle has said. Nothing. Even Mr No is bugging Gu Won for a plan. Has he really no plan?!? For someone supposedly smart, has he truly no other plan than to find his mother. Even that needs a plan but he seems to have no plan for that too! I’m enjoying all the fluff for sure, but seriously, when’re things gonna get exciting? Even mentioning Sarang’s wild ginseng find and getting the ginseng guy to agree to supplying King Hotel the best of his finds would have contributed to something, but even that fizzled into nothingness. Plan, Gu Won. I need a plan. This boy has zero ambition whatsoever… Is he really just gonna be a rich, spoilt brat??
  18. I like Kim Taeri and am looking for something to watch, but I think I'm gonna sit this one out... not my kinda genre
  19. I’m rather liking this series so far, tropes and all. As always, the son is from an affair, dad doesn’t think it was love, “rightful” heir is bitter, and in comes cinderella who will break all social norms and make the angry rich kid smile again. Love it. Dr Romantic was very stressful to watch. I need something lighthearted now to keep heart rates a tad lower. Hahaha… Sister is a real pain, but she did hire Sarang. For sure Sarang is grateful to her. Am also sure she’s going to cause loads of pain to come… We know a fair bit about Gu Won’s story already, but I am curious about Sarang’s mum (and dad? no mention). Why did she take her to the hotel then, and what happened to her?
  20. I’m here! I’m here! Just started watching but will catch up on everyone’s comments later. Such a busy season for me…
  21. I finally finished watching the last 2 episodes! Was in Japan foe a short break and found that the drama was not available there! My thoughts on the drama don’t differ much from @ktcjdramaor @mademoiselle. Certain scenes dragged too much; others had me going “hmm”. Like, for all the talk about how the royal daughter-in-law cannot have a deceased parent, but ok for the queen to be an orphan? Or Hwan-the-king gets to rewrite his own rules when his father could not? And then I reckoned too the King abdicated, but it seemed that was for us to figure out on our own. No matter. I liked it that Ga Ram and Myeongjin got together, but didn’t like it that he had to be disowned for that to happen. If people of low birth could be adopted into nobility to qualify as suitable for royal marriage, couldn’t the same have been done for Ga Ram? I was also expecting Hwan to give Myeongjin an official’s role to vindicate him from all that badmouthing he got, but he just remained a street side scientist, and disowned too. That’s a thumbs down for me. Overall, an entertaining storyline and PHS is just a brilliant actor whatever the role. Cast generally good too. Just a gripe about the female lead - zero chemistry in the role. I could never feel the deep infatuation and love she had for Hwan. I could see it in Hwan’s eyes for her, but not the other way around. Could not convince me she was even remotely in like with him, much less in love. She was ok as Velma in the Scooby gang, but not more than that. Looking forward to PHS’s next drama. Hope he’ll be paired with a better actress. Felt like he carried this show on his own with the supporting cast. Female lead? What female lead?
  22. Agree with you here. And PSH has always been a bad on screen kisser too… hahaha.. gee… I think it has a lot to do with K-culture and how they don’t date openly to “feed” the shipping community. So once they do and are “off the market” - and in this case she’s married - there is no “ship” to be had and so it just all ends up being “weird”. It’s a cycle and culture they create for themselves. But I am nevertheless a fan of PHS and would like to see how this drama turns out for him.
