  1. @mademoiselle I just finished watching episode 9 too and wow. While I wasn’t surprised that it was the dad, I was thinking he’s quite the devil incarnate ah? Like you, I’m now thinking, what is Lee Sang Yi to do then? Now that Jin Star has told him who Gu Won is, then what next? Also, why have his powers been transferred out of him… into Do Hee? Does that make her the demon then? Cos the god lady said his powers are now in another person’s body which makes him human now, so she can’t give it back to him? Does not make sense. Did she not say that she gave him the powers to begin with, so why can’t she give it to him again? She contradicts herself. There seems to be a flaw in logic.
  2. @mademoiselle @SilverMoonTea @ktcjdrama OK. I’m finally all caught up (took leave today so I binged through last night till this morning). This is what I think I have gleaned and guessed so far: 1. Oh Baek-ryeon’s name is always mispronounced as “oh baek nyeon” cos that’s who she is - the reincarnated palace girl over 500 years. The grave sin she committed was a “joseon era sin” because (and I’m guessing here) that as a palace girl, her allegiance must always be to the King and not anyone else, yet she dares to desire love of another man (whoever that would have been) and she wanted to tell the prince (Det Seo back then) that there was a plot against him. But Det Seo as Daegun was being pulled in then in a plot to commit high treason. All grave sins of the time. 2. Cheon Sang Hyuk aka Mr Cupid is the oldest and most powerful of the 4 cupids. I assume they are all the cupids there are and they work as a team, so when CSH fell, the other 3 got implicated somehow. Why Dong-chil became a dog is still unclear to me - guess I’ll have to back watch to episode one if I want to look up the reason again, but no matter. It’s for comedic effect that he’s a dog. CSH needs to run through 29 iterations on earth before they all regain their wings and can return to the heavenly realm. We call them “cupid” as per western mythology, but it would seem for the sake of this show, they’re regarded as faeries in Korean mythology and not angels. 3. Even though CSH is the leader of the cupid group, he has been making amends for the last 500 years by essentially being the housemaid for the other 3 “Dongs” - Dong-Gu, Dong-Chil, Dong-Pal. 4. Yoo Chung Ah is probably one of the reincarnations of the Palace Maid, and CSH has not been able to shake off his involvement with her over the centuries. Each time he gets involved, they have a tragic end, which was probably what happened to Chung Ah who just got caught up in the Joseon Sins of Women case even though she was not one of those who committed a sin. 5. The tension between the cupids (or at least “head cupid Cheon Sang Hyuk”) and Samshin is their view of fate/destiny vs the interference of passion. Cupid clearly holds onto the maxim, “It’s better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all,” which seems to be a sentiment that Samshin frowns upon. His is about the passage of time that needs to be respected and adhered to. They’re not in the same camp and unfortunately for the faeries, Samshin is the one with greater control and influence over human lives, and it would seem, faerie lives too. (Interesting that Samshin this time is a man). What I remain curious about - how is it Det Seo’s boss Dae-sik seems to know the secret that CSH is an immortal? Clearly he knows he has not aged from the time he took on the persona of a police officer to try to crack the missing persons case. Also, Det Seo is clearly the one Samshin has destined Ms Vet for. He appeared on her 1000th visit to the mountain. How will this pan out once Cupid realises she’s the reincarnation of the palace maid? I’m not sure who I’m rooting for now, though at this moment I’m leaning more towards Det Seo.
  3. It’s been a relatively slow watch for me. I’ve watched 2.5 episodes so far. I’m not sure I get why he and the other 3 are trapped on earth and why they’ve made him as good as slave to them. He cooks for them, cleans for them, and it looks like he’s earning human dollars for them too. So it was wrong of him to intervene in the life of a human 500 years ago? Is that right? That much I guessed. But his Cupid friends were there to shoot a love arrow at a scene of conflict? Is that why they got caught up with getting all their wings burned too? And they’re allowed to date humans?? Or not? Cos Doggie has been dating ya? Story progression is a bit choppy and odd. I feel like I need to fill in many blanks on my own. Mr Detective also kinda popped out of nowhere to suddenly become interested in Ms Vet. And why does he find Cupid familiar? Can’t be the CCTV reel, right? They couldn’t see Cupid’s face.
  4. @mademoiselle was wondering if you’d given up on the show. Hahaha… I’m not sure if I like the direction the finale seems to be headed. Will Jungwoo and Soon Deuk end up the way of Romeo & Juliet with faked deaths so that they can live the lives of commoners? Then what of his talent to be able to serve the king and crown prince? You’re right that nothing very interesting surfaced this week except for the fiasco of the weddings that the Chief Magistrate tried to foil. I’m glad that meant that the second sister got married to her true match, but what would that mean for Lady Park and the reputation of her family, even if this reputation was being built through her late husband’s estate still? This is like Survivor Joseon Edition - to outwit and outlast everyone. And the match between the crown prince and Hana. I know it’s Joseon, but seriously? A match between a 14yo and 25yo? Doesn’t the knetz population have anything to say about it?
  5. I’m with @ktcjdramaon Seuk Hoon… I’m suddenly not so sure if he’s the bad guy after all too, seeing that Do Kyung is clearly in touch with the serial killer dude, and he also clearly has psychiatric issues. It’s like the Ju family is a family of murderers. And even though continued conversations between Madam Ju and Do Hee are just in her imagination, Madam Ju also keeps mysteriously silent on the matter of Do Hee’s parents’ death. Was it an accident or did she deliberately cause it too, only to have her conscience catch up with her later? And Gu Won’s transition into being a human again, or so that’s what it seems to be…I wonder if Do Hee was in his past as well (though if the premise of spiritual beings here is based on Christian beliefs, then there would be no reincarnation). Now we know too that Jin Star is part of his present, and not an immortal with a life contract with Gu Won too. I’m just not too sure of her actual role in his life though. Seems a bit “extra” now, unless she too gets drawn into a plot to kill Do Hee as well. But that would be one too many people wanting her dead.
  6. Did anyone wonder how Yeonwoo and Sa Wol managed to get ID to board the plane to Jeju?? 😅 Now I’m really wondering who Grandpa is and if he’s good or bad…
  7. I like the story. My same grouse is the storytelling. It’s bad, which is unfortunate for a good story. 1. I fail to see how the fashion show leak makes grandpa as angry as he is. There’s no clear build up as to why it would make him as angry as he became and he just comes across as a temperamental old man. 2. They went from picking Yeon Woo as designer to the fashion show itself within 1 episode? 2 episodes? But there is no clear show of how much time had progressed. These things take weeks if not months to develop. How is time flowing in this drama? 3. Jealous office girl is very extra. How did that little flashback office spat place her in his apparent good books? Nothing significant happened except for the colleague telling her not to be a bootlicker by working over lunch. And then suddenly she is favoured because she’s good with sandwich working lunches? Aiyoh, there are a few more gripes I could pick out, but am I the only one who thinks that either the script is lacking or the editing is presenting many gaps? Interactions with secretary and his sister also seem very pointless and do not add to the story. Does it even matter that he has a sister?
  8. @mademoiselle Mmm… I had difficulty even getting past the first episode to get to this point now, so you know, the story set up wasn’t the most intriguing for me (as much as I am a fan of Rowoon’s acting now). So what’s not really working for me in this drama? 🧐 The chemistry. The leads have no chemistry. And the leads and their late spouses also have no chemistry. Their late spouses don’t have enough screen presence. Even if they are fleeting characters, they shoulda picked better actors cos their impact on both leads’ lives are supposedly big. I’m not convinced they were in love with their late spouses. It’s just their word I have to go by. I’m not even convinced they’re in love with each other. For sure the acting is there. But the missing chemie… Then the many names. That was hard to track. After a while, I was like, “OK. I’ll take your word for it that they’re doing something treacherous enough to deserve death.” And that was that. Difficult to feel fully invested in the intrigues if they’re confusing to follow. I do feel Jungwoo is that bit of a book smart, self-absorbed personality. A bit of a bumbling idiot. Rowoon certainly brings that character across. Though after 8 years of repeated appeals… and if he were indeed so scholastically talented… would it have really taken 8 years before he became the king’s advisor as he is now? Wouldn’t the princess have told daddy dearest something about him while she was still alive? His sudden prominence in the King’s court as a private advisor also seems a tad unconvincing. Being book smart might not make him good enough to go up against Lady Park’s wit.
  9. @mademoiselle Ah… Moon Sang Min… whatever happened to him? Nothing since Under the Queen’s Umbrella? Half brother was okay as the gay prince. Perhaps the range of emotions required weren’t great. I feel he’s not doing so well as a deranged/angry/off kilter rich kid. The expressions aren’t convincing - smiles look plastic and the glare looks soulless. I think my cat has a wider range of expressions than he. 😐
  10. @mademoiselleThem in bed on their phones… so natural… Hahaha…
  11. @mademoiselle Who’s that little girl?
  12. hahaha. Yes. There’s ZERO chemistry to speak of. And the kissing scene. What kiss? Might as well not have any. And the names. Aiyoh. I cannot figure out who is who. I just know that faction that Soon Deuk’s in laws belong to want to get rid of the current crown prince and will seemingly stop at nothing to do so. But is the ex-Defence Minister her uncle? I thought he was the mother-in-law’s dimwitted brother. (all the men are just so dim, actually). I actually wonder how mum-in-law will play her cards hence, now knowing that her husband killed his own son. And then the real Lady Yeoju - is she not the oldest son’s actual wife? Now I’m confused. I need to read Drama Beans recaps. I sure wasn’t expecting him to actually have loved the princess too, but I have to say, they picked the plainest looking actors to be the late husband and late princess…
  13. @mademoiselle Yup. I watched Under the Queen’s Umbrella and quite liked it. But nah, he’s definitely not 190cm tall. That would make him Rowoon tall and he doesn’t look it at all. Did a google and he’s 180cm? Still tall, for sure. Half brother is an idol actor, but he’s for sure no Rowoon. (Yes. I’m very much in camp Rowoon now. hahaha.) I do like the idea of modernising traditional costumes - I have a modern knee-length hanfu which I do like to wear every now and then. I’ve liked the modern hanbok she’s worn to the office so far and honestly wouldn’t mind owning one or two, except I’m not Korean, so… 😅 But I am someone who likes to wear traditional costumes as an everyday sort of item, except my current work situation is very casual so I’m in denim and corporate polo every day now. Sad, actually. If Yeon Woo in the past never consummated her marriage and never had children, and she never had any other siblings, what offspring would she have? Family lineage would then be from a second cousin or something… no? So who is Midam to her, and who is grandpa to historical Tae Ha?
  14. DWY. Shinyu and Hongjo. Not that I had not taken note of Rowoon before, but this pairing made me really notice Rowoon.
  15. Not to expectations? King the Land for me. It ended up being a tourism video for Thailand. 😅 Best family? Castaway adopted family for sure. But I did like my deafie family too. They did their very best for each other, rich or poor.
  16. @mademoiselle I’m here too! Have been sick so just sped through the 6 episodes while in bed over the weekend. 😂 I like time travel stories and murder intrigues while we’re at it, so what’s not to keep watching? But is it just me, or is the storytelling not the best? Everything seems very disjointed. For example, I don’t get what business they’re in and what this 1st Anniversary celebration is - of what? Why the collab with Midam? Why the art exhibition? The setting seems a bit off. And not the most “scandalous” for the purpose of political ousting. Half-brother can’t act too. Scenes with him are quite annoying. Also, what’s with that girl on the marketing team? She’s a double agent for step mum? But for the sake of time travel intrigues, I’m hanging around cos I want to know why grandpa has that painting, how Midam is related to Yeon Woo’s family, if she’s able to return to Joseon and prevent the death of her husband, is her “future” in Joseon or present day Seoul. And oh - the “foreigner” lady… doesn’t look very foreign to me - neither European, Middle Eastern, nor whatever that third option was. 😅 She just had blue contact lenses. 😂
  17. @mademoiselle Aaaand… I’m finally all caught up! This murder mystery intrigue is getting too difficult to follow. All those names! Personal names, titles, borrowed names… my head is spinning… Storyline is nevertheless intriguing. Can’t say much for the love line though. I don’t feel the slight bit of romantic tension between the leads… am I the only one who thinks this way?
  18. @mademoiselle I’m here! I’m here! Been watching but haven’t had much to comment on so far. The show is easy going and has enough to make me look forward to it every weekend, but I’m not particularly drawn into the story, I guess. Just curious about certain things: Jin Star and his personal butler - how did they get into the picture? Wouldn’t his butler have had to give up his life by now? Why did his contract not expire like the others? And what’s it with Jin Star? She’s immortal too? And the accountant/investment branch cousin - do we trust him? Psychopath nephew - no one reported his doctor’s assault? Or did the doctor die? Madam Ju has a backstory about the family business she started with Dohee’s father which Dohee does not yet know about right? What she said she could not be forgiven for in the confession box. And the CCTV footage being as small as it is on her mobile phone, how did they spot the bloody scabs on the guy’s neck?? Am curious also about the crucifix he wears. Odd for a demon, no? And the photo booth flashes making his powers wane… a new spanner in the works? So many variables in this show….
  19. Did she sing all her own songs??? Like, Mok Ha’s singing voice is original?
  20. Octopus for sure, and My Demon looks likely too. But I’m putting up all 8 hands for Octopus!!
  21. I’m now following this thread and going, “O! Recommendation list!”
  22. I’m wondering it it would be “Matchmakers” for me. The thing about watching a drama after it’s done and dusted and enjoying it, is that there’s no one to spazz with during your own watch. 😂😂😂
