  1. Totally. I like her, though I guess they modernized her for making her plucky, bold and courageous. I don't think any woman, especially a court lady would be like her. it just isn't in their norm at that time. But at this point I don't care, cause I adore her being plucky, especially when she is opposite San. and I think likes her that way, the way she imagined her in that dark library and the way he wanted to keep his identity hidden. it tells me he liked to keep their friendship to continue... As for Deokro, he is definitely as scheming as the villains are, but he picked sides, and his pick was San. I do feel like it is out of character for her to outright reject Minister Hong's offer. Between the two of them, the minister had higher power and has more reach in the political circles, for Deokroo who is a young philosopher/lecturer, would probably get alienated if that minister said so. It would have been a better choice to hide first his his true intensions. this also made me wonder about where DeokRo's confidence came from. does he have a strong family backing, yet that mister also mentioned they are both from the 'Hong line'.. or he is so confident in San..? I do get, that San has done everything imaginable to be the perfect heir. But still, he probably have a counter against Hong Minister power and reach... right? Also been looking at the King Yeongjo and King Jeongjo family, King Yeongjo. King Yeongjo has a number of daughters, but only 2 sons, the first son/crown prince died early, and then Crown Prince Sado. Sado has a few sons but only San is from his consort, the rest were from Sado's concubines. I think King Yeongjo has decided and picked San as his successor, he knows the scheming of his minister but he knows how San has tried to be the perfect heir. one thing i can say, is with King Yeongjo making San be adopted under Crown Prince Hyojang (King Yeongjo's first son/crown prince) it would distance San from being Sado's son aka criminal's son. he was the only grandchild he did that too...? right? Their is a really complicated relationship, but I am liking this iteration of their relationship. Shows us how yeongjo was trying to protect San... I also like the storytelling/narrative of this drama. It has parts dark and parts light. it has those scheming people at the sideline and the main leads friendship and romance at the forefront. Ratings for episode 3: and I need to go back at this cuteness of San being outted:
  2. Episode 4 Preview scene in the library Engsub for Behind the scenes making: @abs-oluteMthanks for the recap again....
  3. Ep3 finally introduced all the scheming people trying to throw Yisan off. The minister, Yisan's Aunt and her adoptive son and the head court lady... King Yeongjoa nd Yisan's relationship is complicated. King yeongjo made YS kneel for a long time outside, but he allowed YS's mom to bring water and mentioned to DI about timing... then came in hugging him as he 'gave' his forgiveness... this episode had the leads in separate scenes most of the time. the part of them both going to the library looking for and waiting for each other: Interestingly, DeokIm is with light shining on her during the day and Yisan is in the darkness of the night. they've been playing with that symbolism since since the tease/poster.. The ending was funny, hahaha though I do wish they extended the reveal until episode 4. but it was still an adorable scene... I mean the only time bridge scene had a purpose other than to look pretty... PS: I just have to mention, DeokIm kinda swooning for Deokroo after the guy casually mentioned that there should have been more casualty, had me going . She saw the dead young palace maid, but she was like the modern day fangirl, "oppa is pretty/handsome, he can never do anything wrong" despite doing something wrong, she needed to slap herself to get out of that zone.
  4. 2PM’s Lee Junho And Lee Se Young Join Hands To Save People From A Tiger In “The Red Sleeve” Nov 19, 2021 | by L. Kim 2PM’s Lee Junho and Lee Se Young will embark on a rescue mission in the next episode of “The Red Sleeve”! Based on a novel, “The Red Sleeve” is a traditional historical drama that tells the record of an imperial court romance between a court lady named Seong Deok Im (Lee Se Young), who wanted to protect the life she had chosen, and emperor Yi San (Lee Junho), who put the nation first before love. The drama is based on the real historical figures King Jeongjo, the 22nd ruler of the Joseon dynasty (born under the name Yi San), and royal concubine Ui of the Seong clan (Seong Deok Im). Spoilers Yi San and Seong Deok Im got off on the wrong foot due to misunderstandings, but they gradually started to build a unique relationship that made viewers’ hearts flutter in anticipation for their budding romance. On the other hand, a violent tiger that was slaughtering people approached the palace with more than 500 court ladies. The second episode ended with Yi San asking Seong Deok Im to read a book in front of them, raising questions about what kind of plan he has for the tiger. In newly released stills, Seong Dok Im stands in front of the other court ladies with her friends Kim Bok Yeon (Lee Min Ji), Bae Kyung Hee (Ha Yul Ri), and Son Young Hee (Lee Eun Saem). Seong Dok Im appears firm and bold, but this isn’t an easy task for her either. As she was asked to read a book by Yi San, viewers are keenly paying attention to how this will keep the court ladies safe from the tiger. Meanwhile, Yi San is leading his bodyguard Kang Tae Ho (Oh Dae Hwan) and other soldiers to hunt for the tiger. Their solemn expressions and fiery torches that light up the petrifying darkness increase the tension in the atmosphere. Furthermore, Yi San’s eyes glint sharply as he lifts his bow to shoot an arrow at his target. Will Yi San and Seong Deok Im be able to protect the palace? 5. hahaha it could totally be right on. but I was imagining something sexier.... and DeokIm face, as she comes close to the tiger I'd probably look worse and just plain terrified and saying my last prayers as my life flashed before me... the funny thing about dramas, is that they usually make character 'smart' but they dumb it out for narrative purposes. which usually ends up being frustrating... but in this case, I feel like with the distance, and the protocol of court ladies not looking up when in the presence of their royalty/masters, especially in such a state where in the crown prince is a position of being punished/asking for forgiveness...? would be reason 'enough' not to figure it out.. and yes she should also consider the clothes he is wearing, but then again she also doesn't have a doubt about Deokro's identity. Since who would think that the crown prince (her master) would just allow her to go unpunished for the salt/broom incident. especially since they are meeting consistently as servant-master for that apology letter.... anyway, here are the stills of this scene: cr: MBC twitter there are a few version of this, but this has been the best version of the character chart... and 1 thing I always was weirded out about the drama and the character intro. and chart was that there is no casting for Yisan's crown princess... is it because the story revolves around Yisan and DeokIm? and with Yisan in an arranged marriage, it was perceived/conveyed that they did not get along as married couple thus she doesn't have much interaction with him... or any connection and interaction with DeokIm...? In the Yisan drama, the sisters of Yisan were never introduced... but in history its has been noted that DeokIm had interaction with them... And since we know this drama follows the history more, Maybe they would still introduce the wife of Yisan, but maybe when he is already a king...?
  6. 2PM’s Lee Junho And Lee Se Young Cool Off While Filming In The Water For “The Red Sleeve” Nov 19, 2021 | by S. Cho MBC’s “The Red Sleeve” has shared a making-of video from the filming of its first two episodes! Based on a novel, “The Red Sleeve” is a historical drama about the imperial court romance between a court lady named Seong Deok Im (Lee Se Young) and crown prince Yi San (Lee Junho), who put the nation first before love. The clip starts during filming on a warm summer day. Lee Junho and Lee Se Young rehearse an upcoming action scene where he catches her before they fall into the water. After they quickly bicker about whether they’re supposed to spin 180 or 360 degrees, they film the romantic scene perfectly while making sure to check up on each other. Next, they film the actual water scene where Lee Se Young runs out from behind the bushes and falls into Lee Junho’s arms. Lee Se Young makes the director crack up after a few awkward takes, but is ultimately able to finish the scene well. After their stunt doubles film themselves falling into the water, Lee Junho and Lee Se Young begin preparing for their next scene. The director warns them not to fall in while joking around, and Junho teasingly replies, “I’m just going to dunk Deok Im in headfirst.” After filming the chaotic scene, Lee Se Young excitedly calls out, “Let’s film in the water everyday!” At night, Lee Se Young films a cooking scene with all the other court ladies. Lee Min Ji hilariously shows off her dough that’s turned rock hard and explains that her hands are covered in flour from all her hard work while practicing. When asked if she’s good at cooking in real life, Lee Min Ji quickly responds, “Nope.” Lee Se Young introduces the dish she was just making and shares, “This is the festival where 500 court ladies come together for filming.” She jokingly adds, “It’s a disaster.” Later, Ha Yul Ri and Lee Eun Saem take viewers around the festival, showing the children making jewelry and meeting Lee Min Ji where the other court ladies are cooking. Lee Min Ji shares, “I’m making ‘pastries’ [in English],” making her co-stars laugh as they ask, “Were there pastries back then too?” Lee Se Young and Lee Junho then film in the palace where they reveal fun filming secrets, such as the staff member lying on the floor to open the door and how Lee Se Young is propped up on a box so that her bow can be filmed properly. As Junho practices writing with a brush, Lee Se Young adorably asks for his autograph and he diligently writes out “Yi San” for her. They continue to joke around in high spirits as Lee Se Young tries to catch a fly for Lee Junho and he randomly dances to 2PM’s “10 out of 10.” Link: https://www.soompi.com/article/1499309wpp/watch-2pms-lee-junho-and-lee-se-young-cool-off-while-filming-in-the-water-for-the-red-sleeve Preview of Episode 3 | Subbed MBC ig update: more ep3 scenes

  8. Kang Hoon Update Kang Hoon’s quirky charms🤭 l N-terview | Eng sub KH company Twitter PressCon Ep3 (?) still true, Fusion drama should probably have a leeway, but the liberties in JE was probably more than acceptable for koreans to accept, cause as I understood it when it aired, the complains were not only form historians but general audience. It was still not the JE cast fault. was sad the actors/actresses had to apologize for it... The bath scene, still a long way to go. I do want to temper my excitement before my imagination get the better of me, cause saguek usually does skinship in a very light manner... That meeting outside the palace (date?) pic also excite, but me think she still thinks he s Deokroo given that that she can still look at him straight. plus I do want them to go around with carefreeness and enjoy a date (?) I am curious about the stills they first released, this one: is this a teaser.... or is this part of the drama...? ... if this was part of the scene, then I feel like this would be the scene she will learn he is the crown prince with the amount of promos stills/vids they released, I kinda got confused which are only for promos or teaser vs part of drama highlight..... This drama is the only I am watching live, or subbed is released. I'd probably watch Taec's drama when it is all done. I do see some wacky scenes from clips posted in twitter, I laughed at clips uploaded. it is so campy
  9. Junho explaining about Yisan BTS of Lee Seyoung ...being such a ball of energy They came so hard on JE. and sad to see how it was pulled off without any way and chance of them ever rectifying such breach. And the stars was targeted bad, and kinda felt bad for them especially since I liked the ensemble cast. The production's should have done a waaay better job in doing their research and setting and presenting such things... ...but with saguek speech, this one falls more on the actors/actresses realm of effort and research, so I get the criticism on that on them. But I am surprised that they don't enough experts/historian on hand when doing saguek to correct such things... And with JE it felt like there was none at all.

  13. true. hearing the PD make statement about opting to add newly acquired information to the drama that was left out in the novel was a big heads up for a bit of a historical geek like me.. But I did read somewhere that the novel itself was heavily researched by Writer Kang MIkang. So the material was history heavy versus some other dramas, Then, there was also the etiquette crash course training they did, I think doing that kinda prepared me for expectation of the PD sticking to details however minute it is... or do other dramas do that too? cause as far as I know they do the horseback riding training and swordfight.... never was there on etiquette lesson BTS... correct me if I am wrong in this the hashtag also had me very motivated to do some tweets. hahaha but I do hope this translate to ratings.. though I am quite happy how positive the response has been. though I probably quite satisfied with the buzz the drama and its stars have received: “The Red Sleeve” Rated Most Buzzworthy Drama + “Now We Are Breaking Up” Dominates Actor Rankings | SOOMPI The Red Sleeve  Cuff tops the GoodData drama Buzz Rankings as Song Hyekyo leads the actor/actress list | Koalasplayground woah awesome. I guess its been a long time since I've been live watching dramas. I remember waiting for the screencaps from media posts... and now, I usually just enjoy watching a drama after it is all complete... all fully subbed.. at first watching I actually thought it was over the top and just unrealistic. I mean how could you just pull on the prince like that.. and how could his guard take time on taking off an armour... but later after re watching this clip, I ended up liking it, I laugh so hard in this scene as well as the library falling scene, its over the top comedic gold...!!! And additionally I am relishing the petty revenge and consequent childish satisfaction this crown prince has derived from this. he is such a brat!!! BTW first OST has been released: Title: Hoping After Hoping Singer: Whee In

Kim MBC’s new historical drama “The Red Sleeve” has shared new stills ahead of the upcoming episode! On November 13, the drama gave a sneak peek of the second episode. In the newly released stills, Yi San and Seong Deok Im are at the crown prince’s quarters. Yi San is sitting upright with a solemn aura, while Seong Deok Im flattens herself to the ground with uneasy eyes. The singer stars in the new MBC series with Lee Se Young. 2PM Junho's Acting in 'The Red Sleeve Cuff' Impresses Viewers MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama "The Red Sleeve Cuff" premiered on November 12. It tells the story of a sad romance between a king who prioritizes his people and a court lady who dreams of becoming a good writer. In "The Red Sleeve Cuff," Lee Junho plays the role of Yi San, a stern crown prince. When the tiger took the lives of his people, he showed anger and led the group to hunt. Through his impressive portrayal of his character, the 2PM member immediately caught the viewers' attention in the first two episodes of "The Red Sleeve Cuff" by expressing the sternness and charisma of the crown prince with stable acting. Lee Junho Perfectly Conveys Crown Prince Yi San's Emotions The pain in Yi San's character was expressed delicately by Lee Junho. It was when the crown prince was listening to Sung Deok Im's (Lee Se Young) storytelling during the court ladies' night. While hearing the story, Yi San recalled the memory of his father shouting at him and accusing him that a child like him was born to kill his father. Yi San's trauma and emotion were conveyed to the small screen through Lee Junho's shaky eyes and delicate emotional acting. Apart from his impressive acting performance, the "Wok of Love" actor also expressed the charm of Yi San, the feisty and cute crown prince, in a variety of ways, raising expectations for romance chemistry with Lee Se Young as well as the charm of his character. In "The Red Sleeve Cuff" episode 2, the crown prince required an apology letter from Sung Deok Im, who dragged him into the pond. While he continues to disguise himself as Hong Dong Ro to hide his real identity, Lee Junho gave justice to showcase his romance with Lee Se Young. His immersive acting receives positive feedback from the viewers and the way he portrays the character of Yi San makes the viewers crave more of Lee Junho's scenes with Lee Se Young. Their chemistry adds interest and brings excitement to many Kdrama fans. 17. here is my spam post, which I was dying to make at the end of episode 1: the fantasy sequence of the meet-cute: It was just soooo pretty. I could watch it over and over again: Plus there is this post/article regarding the fantasy sequence above: Netizens talk about whether they like or dislike this popular cliché scene from this year's historical dramas Historical drama fans have struck up a debate about this particular cliché scene, which they found appeared in quite a few of this year's series. It's a pretty cliché scene that often appears in not just historical K-dramas, but a lot of K-dramas overall. But seeing as the scene appeared in all three representative historical dramas from KBS, MBC, and SBS this year, drama fans felt that it deserved a special mention. Some commented, While others felt, https://www.allkpop.com/article/2021/11/netizens-talk-about-whether-they-like-or-dislike-this-popular-clich-scene-from-this-years-historical-dramas it is safe to say that they saw the clips and cliche... ...of the fantasy sequence but reality is... again, I really swooned at Junho in the fantasy sequence but I did love that they did this, they built up such excitement then just dropped that bomb comedic sequence....! Truth. I think I watched one of his variety shows appearance.. He is one of those veterans who is just fun. I've been excited for him in this drama... on and especially off cam... like behind the scenes clips...

  19. @abs-oluteM firstly thanks for the recap.. and also the future recaps to be made... i was not able to read it when you first posted it, and was able to watch the 2 episodes already... but I am looking forward for the future recaps... Thank you in advance the bath scene was mentioned to be in episode 7, so we got 3 more weeks for it... *Sigh* So their youth parts would go until half of the drama... Hmmnn I like it... and looking forward to whatever encounters and fun and romance they will develop all this episode to come regarding this... I mean the historical accuracy or in some dramas, what the koreans complains on historical parts... I was wary of that too, for the same reason as you @mademoiselle. but so far I think there is overall positivity with regards to historical relation of this drama This recapper mentioning the right appellation used in the drama... or naming... Here: https://thetalkingcupboard.com/2021/11/13/the-red-sleeve-first-impression/ from that post, this was mentioned: I thinks detail like this will go along way additionally, I think, the Novel Red Sleeve cuff has a huge following... and there seems to be no negative connection to the novel due to its near accuracy to history... it even is being adapted to webtoon which goes to show how successful it is.. if there is one thing I I do wish that was done, its the explanation/historical background on the naming.. or bowing difference and etc.. Learning in depth details of this would be great as an international audience.... Also congrats to the drama, Lee Seyoung and Lee Junho for their brand ranking...!!! Red Sleeve Cuff is ranked 1st in the drama category Actors Category: Seyoung is 4th Junho is 7th
  20. holler guys... woah.. I missed a lot, i need to reread the past posts cause it seems it has been quite long and fast moving... a tad overwhelmed in trying to read through everything... a lot has happened in the first 2 episode that I also want to chime in... but first post will just be dropping this article from korean times: Lee Jun-ho returns to small screen with heartfelt, historical romance 'The Red Sleeve' By Lee Gyu-leeActor Lee Jun-ho has returned to the small screen with MBC's new historical romance series, "The Red Sleeve." Lee went on hiatus due to his mandatory military service starting in 2019.Following his discharge from the military in March, the actor took on the lead role in his first period drama, portraying King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty (1392―1910)."It wasn't easy to take on the role of a king, especially since he is an actual historical figure who has been loved by many people," the actor said during an online press conference for the series, Friday. "But I did try to portray the character in my own color. At the same time, I tried to draw my attention towards the small details (of the king's gestures) like using chopsticks."Based on the romance novel of the same name by Kang Mi-kang, the series follows a love story between crown prince Yi San, who later becomes King Jeongjo, and a court lady named Sung Deok-im (Lee Se-young).Yi San is a scrupulous prince who inherits the throne from his grandfather after his father's death. But when he meets Deok-im, a free-spirited, strong-willed woman, Yi San struggles to make choices between his duty and his love. The series is directed by Jung Ji-in, who led the romantic comedy, "Radiant Office," and is scripted by Jung Hae-ri, who wrote the period drama, "The Emperor: Owner of the Mask."The first episode kicked off on Friday with a 5.7-percent viewership rating, nationwide. The actor said he enjoyed the original novel so he decided to get on board with his first period series."I loved how the king was depicted in the original novel. And when I read the series' script, I also liked how it was brought into life. It was very colorful," he said. "With the novel, it doesn't go too deep into each character's mind. But I liked how the script delves deeper into those parts to tell more about what kind of people they are."The love story was inspired by historical records about King Jeongjo and a court lady, who became concubine Uibin Sung after turning down the king's offer twice.Jung, the director, noted that this series stands out from other period series currently airing, such as "The King's Affection" and "Secret Royal Inspector Joy," because it tells the story of actual historical figures."This series is definitely different from 'fusion' period series, as the characters are based on real people. We did adapt the story, but we still had to base the overall picture on the real events," she said.Lee Se-young's character, Deok-im, is an unorthodox person who firmly believes in making her own choices in life, despite living as a court lady. Her peaceful life in the palace turns upside down when she encounters the crown prince. The actress said that she was very touched when she read the novel and hoped to deliver the same emotion to viewers."When I read the novel, I cried my heart out. It was such a heartbreaking story and the emotions lingered on for a few days," she said. "Whether the audiences have read the book or not, I wanted to deliver the heartfelt story that would make them feel the same emotions and lingering feelings that I got from the book.""The Red Sleeve" airs on MBC Fridays and Saturdays at 9:50 p.m. LINK: https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/art/2021/11/688_318775.html sorry, I think a perpetuated that thought. I really thought he was cast as sado seeing his look when there was a spoiler pic months ago.. I thought it was one of the scenes where sado will go crazy... that lead to his punishment.. but it was really good to see Ha Sukjin. I wish he does more sagueks...

In the newly released stills, Yi San barges into the library of the crown prince’s quarters. He’s not wearing his royal robes, and his cold expression hints that something serious has happened. He starts to search for something without caring who’s there. Seong Deok Im, who is the court lady in charge of the library, boldly approaches him. She has no idea that he’s the crown prince and engages in a war of nerves with him. Yi San is taken aback by her daring behavior, and he’s at a loss for words. How will Yi San and Seok Deok Im, who started off on the wrong foot, start to gain feelings for each other? 24. they really are. Seyoung even mentioned the many teasers which is so unlike and unusual compared to their experience. and I think Junho and Seyoung during their guesting in KSH's Noon Song of Hope mentioned that the CEO/President send a food truck to the set. and even their twitter live, they again both mentioned talking with the the guy, thus ask for overseas trip if ratings are good... I think MBC is going all out, cause they have been in a ratings drought. they had hoped The Veil would have good ratings, which it did but SBS drama was the one that was the ratings leader... but also Junho mentioned that Seyoung is the MBC daughter. which is so adorable...!!!
