  1. @abs-oluteM I think they have started filming very early, around May, but junho per se started later around September cause he still had schedules for 2pm comeback. I do think they are filming still but I don't think they will do the past ways of doinng live shooting where the last edits are done just hours before shooting, mostly because of the pandemic. I think the production have become smarted and more precautioned with covid. They need leeway to make sure that broadcast will go smoothly and without hitch and therefor prevent momentum of the drama. Also I did read from someone in twitter mention that they will probably finish filming around early December or Mid December. I dont knowhow legit that is through @Alice Wonderland I think saguek has turned fusion fantasy over they years. there has been so many materials in webtoons. novels on fusion fantasy. then add to it the growing wider international base that seem to probably get into the fantasy genre more so than the past classics. and lastly I do think chinese wuxia did influence the growth in number of fusion drama. I know it is always though as kdrama spreadinga nd chinese getting influenced, but I do think they have their moments of give and take of ideas mainly cause what is demanded should be give to the audience. about Wok of Love, honestly I was excited for that drama because of the casting, but once it aired I totally lost interest after 3 episode. the story just felt off. like a clanking bicycle but one of the tires is so flat and out of loop. I was sad to let that go, but I didnt really have the fortitude to continue. But I revisited it early this year, and weirdly I decided to start around episode 7 or 8, and man I feel for it. like literally enjoyed the OTP so much. Junho and Ryeowon are so adorable together. But Junho definitely was such a eye candy, he fits being Seo Poong so much. So I guess I understand where you are coming from about him fitting being CP, but Seo Poong is just as adorable. he just needs a few episodes and patience to grow on you. @Mouse welcome to the club... I think with the King, it was the sign of the times where corporal punishment was part of the way of disciplining the child, as the saying goes "use the rod beat the child". I do think that seeing this King Yeongjo, was probably harsher to his son Sado than he probably was with San. I mean he literally drove sado crazy. But I think Yeongjo has the existential purpose of legitimizing his persona, that was why he was so hard on Sado, and even San. He was very much criticized for being low born because of his mother. So he wanted that appeal of creating a perfect heir. But weirdly and probably worse with yeongjo is he did spoil his daughters. That probably is 1 factor that lead to sado's mental state. He felt alone in the world where in he is always being criticized/punished for everything but he could see his sisters being favored. anyway for the most parts, i do think the King is really rooting for San. in his own way in that era, it probably is the norm. MBC released the official MV for the 2nd OST
  2. Been reading her contents and I am loving it so much.. The part of her noticing and connecting about San, answering never wanting to be a commoner but then he really did cosplay as the royal lecturer, flew over me. And the flowers symbolisms that she explained accentuates the focus, care and effort to details that are done by PD Jung. I actually felt it first here: In this scene of King Yeongjo and San. King Yeong was showing his authority but showing his concern by hugging him and comforting him like he was a normal grandpa. But we know it is all strategic and ripe with so much symbolism. This is when I knew that PD jungw as not playing around. Anyway here is a review of shows, and I liked how some things are explained in context regarding the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5ypJePYzAA Explanation of the Book transcribed by the Princesses and DeokIm that was burned Reasons behind San saying he will not love like how Yeongjo did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9GbXV9DjB0 reason why Deok-im was chosen as Lee San's concubine!
  3. That is the pouty cell of Woong in Yumis cells, right? But Junho already has his avatar of pouty copy in emperor penpen... and the song would {probably} be "My House"... hahahaha At this rate Jun.K needs to gift Junho a car. Article Praising Junho's acting:
  4. hahaha the posts are hilarious. my bathrub junho... people with such witty comments... Filming at Kwanghan Pavilion and it looks like he is already in the red dragon robe.. 2nd OST Lyrics translations Adorable FMV
  5. Oh Thanks so much. I do watch as soon as possible but I need to rewarch with better subs quality. so this would really help... oh! I hope this reaches more audience,
  6. will probably use that too, so thank you. I literally laughed at some of the translations. some are can easily be ignored others just is jarring... Anyway I just want to comment on what I realized to day after checking my TL this drama made people research history I mean I literally saw posts regarding Sado, King Yeongjo and etc. I mean that is understandable but its so fun to see... But then the weird things other do for this drama they do statistics (?) or prediction.... kekeke Other do geometry and others still other do sound analysis...
  7. ‘The Red Sleeve Cuff’ Episode 6: Lee Junho and Lee Se Young Had an Intense Encounter + Crown Prince Gets Jealous of Kang Hoon Yi San (Lee Junho) is freed from his punishment, thanks to Sung Deok Im's (Lee Se Young) help. Meanwhile, the court lady discovers the crown prince cares about her after getting jealous of Hong Dong Ro (Kang Hoon) for being with her the night before. Sung Deok Im Joins Forces With Queen Jung Soon to Free Yi San While still in punishment, Yi San only talked to his court lady. Even though they were forbidden to see each other's faces, hearing their sentiments with a screen between them was enough for them to enjoy the moment of being together. It also made them realize they got each other's back in times of difficulties. The crown prince asked Sung Deok Im to deliver his message to their Dondeok order meeting. The members were surprised to see the lady delivering the message from the crown prince. Everyone was undecided of who they would trust with their secret mission while Yi San was away from them. The court lady had something to say but ended up keeping to herself. Sung Deok Im went to tell the crown prince about what happened. Since it would be difficult to work with the Dondeok members, she suggested asking Queen Jung Soon's help (Jang Hee Jin). The court lady bravely faced the queen and told her about the plan of convincing the King to free Yi San from punishment. Fortunately, Jung Soon was willing to help them, but in one condition: she wanted Princess Hwawan (Seo Hyo Rim) to be under her. With the help of her friends, Sung Deok Im found a way on how to help the queen and ended up winning against Princess Hwawan. She now has the opportunity to control the princess anytime. In exchange to this, the queen was able to convince the King to free the crown prince. Yi San Gets Jealous of Hong Dong Ro Being Close to Sung Deok Im After knowing Yi San was finally, Sung Deok Im rushed to the palace to see him. When she arrived, the court ladies and the guards were happy to see the crown prince. Yi San was quick to notice the court lady's presence. The excitement from the two were palpable in their smiles and gazes to each other. Unfortunately, due to her skills, Sung Deok Im needed to stay with the queen for the meantime, which the crown prince was not pleased to hear. He wished that Queen Jung Soon wouldn't make her stay with her side permanently. During the night, the court lady met a young lady who couldn't enter the palace since the guards didn't permit her to. Sung Deok Im helped the lady to deliver the clothes to her brother who works inside the palace. She was surprised to know that it was Hong Dong Ro, the crown prince's teacher, who was the person the young lady was looking for. On their way back, Dong Ro pulled Deok Im closer to him to whisper about the news that someone made up the queen's mind in order to free the crown prince. The court lady didn't expect Dong Ro's sudden action which made her startled. But while they were standing close to each other, Yi San watched them from afar and felt uneasy to see the two being together. Sung Deok Im's Unexpected and Intense Encounter with Yi San The court ladies were scared of the crown prince and didn't want to help him take a bath. They thought of Sung Deok Im as the only person who could do the job. To their surprise, the lady appeared in front of them and they didn't waste any time to bring her inside the bathroom. Before she entered the room, Yi San was busy thinking about what he saw involving his right hand man, Hong Dong Ro and Sung Deok Im. He was surprised to see the court lady who was tasked to assist him in taking a bath. The crown prince could not hide his jealousy anymore and bluntly confessed that he saw Sung Deok Im having an intimate conversation with Hong Dong Ro. The court lady got angry for not doing anything when he saw his right-hand man harassing her. Yi San was shocked by Deok Im's confession that Hong Dong Ro used to harass the court ladies in exchange for gossip about the crown prince. Meanwhile, he accidentally confessed that his only concern is Sung Deok Im among all the court ladies, which Deok Im was surprised to hear. While pouring the hot water in the tub, Yi San stood to help the court lady but she was startled to see the half-naked crown prince, making her fall on the water and on the crown prince's chest, and leaving them in an awkward position What can you say about Lee Se Young and Lee Junho's intense encounter in "The Red Sleeve Cuff" episode 6? 9. Lee Se Young Dishes On Her Real-Life Chemistry With “The Red Sleeve” Co-Star 2PM’s Lee Junho Nov 28, 2021 | by E. Cha In a recent interview and pictorial for Singles magazine, Lee Se Young talked about her experience filming her new drama “The Red Sleeve”! “The Red Sleeve” is a historical drama about the imperial romance between crown prince Yi San (played by 2PM’s Lee Junho), who later becomes emperor, and the strong-willed court lady Seong Deok Im (played by Lee Se Young). The drama’s viewership ratings have been rising consistently since its premiere earlier this month, with each episode setting a new personal record for the show. Describing the atmosphere on set, Lee Se Young happily reported, “It’s warm, harmonious, fun, and full of energy. When you film together in both hot weather and cold weather, you develop a deep family-like bond that goes beyond the camaraderie of soldiers fighting fiercely together on the frontlines of battle.” With every episode of “The Red Sleeve,” Lee Se Young and Lee Junho have been getting viewers’ hearts racing with their undeniable chemistry, and the actress shared that the secret to all that chemistry was their bond in real life. “My co-star Junho and I have developed the kind of relationship where we now understand each other’s pain and our characters’ emotions just by looking into each other’s eyes,” she explained. “I plan to fall into step [with him] and happily push through until the end of the drama.” When asked what she was looking forward to most in terms of seeing “The Red Sleeve” air, Lee Se Young replied, “Through every project, I meet new actors, new production team members, and new viewers as well. I’m looking forward to seeing how this meeting will be. When a project ends, that character remains with the actor. Of course I think it’s more important to blend into a project than for a character to stand out, but I’m looking forward to the Deok Im that remains with me, and I hope she will become a beautiful memory.” She went on, “Up until now, I’ve usually played characters who were in the process of growth, but because Deok Im is a real person that exists in history, she was different from all the other roles I’ve played. I myself am very curious what will remain from my encounter with the role of Seong Deok Im in this drama.” As Lee Se Young began her career as a child actress, she is already in her 26th year since her debut. Looking back on her lengthy career, she commented, “Staying in one line of work for a long time is an impressive feat, but that doesn’t make the work any easier or more comfortable. As I entered my late twenties, I found peace by acting to my heart’s content in the projects I wanted to do. These days, I find my eye drawn to people who try to live quiet, ordinary lives. I want to try to be positive in everything I do in life, and I want to become an actress who keeps improving and changing for the better.” LINK: https://www.soompi.com/article/1500791wpp/lee-se-young-dishes-on-her-real-life-chemistry-with-the-red-sleeve-co-star-2pms-lee-junho Se Young Updated her IG with set pic Caption: 아무리 찌워도 살이 빠지던 여름 끝자락 남원 #조선여행 #ㅇㅅㅁ source: https://www.instagram.com/p/CW2Ax2bPaC9/
  10. I do think the change in platform of use (Streaming/netflix) is the biggest contributor of such rating slump. but among those broadcasting channels, it has been MBC. who really has been hit. So I will not be surprised if they dont have award shows. it sad but that is the reality. they are just so adorable makes me wonder how it will be if they were in a modern drama. I agree, Bossam has been the best and this is turning out to be on top if this continues. the breathing sounds... When I first saw that post I went and made sure I had earphones, and it really adds to the tension... i guess the breathing sounds will be the new heartbeat sound... hahaha the calligrapher, Behind the scenes
  11. this is interesting, I know this is preliminary and just a fraction of the sample, but I am happy with this ratings, In a way this would help get more viewers... Also interesting that for most people that probably have not watch this drama I saw similar comment/reasons of: Not a saguek fan - mainly because of the endings (?) Not a melodrama fan - cause it does have tags in some sites are about lonely CP, Orphaned FL, Mournful Love story, etc. and this scared a lot of people I do wonder when the melo-saguek will start, cause so far it has been such a good balance of light and youthful saguek romance with some serious and dark injections of scenes. or is this drama lulling us into such sweet trap this past few episodes, much like the saying "you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". before boom, all the mournful things to happen another version of episode 4 Behind the scenes English subs the comments here is funny and relatable:
  12. 2PM's Lee Junho helps break the stereotype that idols can't act Posted by Rindi1225 | November 27, 2021 | Source theqoo.net Recently, 2PM's Lee Junho became a hot discussion among Korean netizens in the theqoo community because of his outstanding acting skills in MBC's historical drama 'The Red Sleeve,' which aired on November 26th. The post, which trended more than 53.000 views and garnered over 550 replies, showed positive reactions to Junho's acting skill. 'The Red Sleeve,' which premiered on November 12th, starred Junho alongside actress Lee Se Young. The drama depicts a love story between Yi San (later King Jeongjo of Joseon) and a brave court lady, Seong Deok-Im. 'The Red Sleeve' ranked first in the Friday-Saturday drama slot. The fifth episode of the drama has achieved an 8.8% rating nationwide. In Seoul, the rate reached 8.1%. Junho has captured fans' attention with his acting in various dramas such as JTBC's Just Loving Each Other, tvN's Confession, and KBS2's Manager Kim. Some of the comments included: "Junho's acting is crazy today." "I can't even breathe ㅠㅠ The Red Sleeve is so much fun this year ㅠㅠ "It was so much fun. I cried at the end." "Thank you for breaking the statement that idols are not good at acting." "I don't like watching dramas, so I only know Junho from 2PM. Since when did he act so well? So cool." Part of the international audience who dont know the history would probably think that San here is without any women in his life. and it is interesting that 6 episodes in, it seems like no one seems to care about this fact. Though I guess it does help that the novel itself doesnt also dwell much on San's Crown Princess. Cause someone who read the novel once stated when I asked about this that San did harem but he didnt care much for anyone of them. so he does not visit them...
  13. I feel you, it would have been awesome to get swoon clips of the Junho and Seyoung... cause viki's clips are below swoon standard. I need something longer than above You can just feel how fast thing are happening in this drama, and there is still a lot of material for the drama to get through. so if next week we have a date in the garden with the heavy stuff starting with the conflict of regency, DeokIm being pushed as Concubine... then probably the first rejection of deokim to the concubine status, king Yeongjo's death... then, we still have not even revealed their childhood connection, and Deokro will have to be factored in his schemes as well as all the other villains schemes this drama really feels like a 50 episode drama squeezed into 16 episodes. and like you, I will also miss King yeongjo scenes, his relationship with san is so complex but I like he portrayal in this drama of how Yeoongjo seems to be rooting for him to succeed. Lee Deokhwa-nim was so good. I really wish they would reach 15% so that LDH can go fishing while Junho dances...? or I was just confused at their ratings promise... kekeke true. it is also strategic for Deokim, cause being being seen in the presence of the Queen, she can have a reputation of being the queens fave court lady, so Priincess Hwahwan can't justt bully her whenever she wants.... I do have a question, did you guys notice during the the silk ceremony, which is mostly attended by royals there was a girl beside San's mom.... I feel like she could be San's crown princess? or am I just overthinking this...!?! and she is just one of the royals...
  14. Episode 6 | Behind the scenes English subbed CLICK HERE Ben - The Star That Never Sleeps LIVE Guy who does San Calligraphy based on what's happening in court, when San is being called to be the Regent. the year for the drama is 1775. that would make San 23 (International age). then he ascends the throne by 1776... I worry about that the award shows for MBC< not only cause they had a few, but also most of their dramas were so low rated except fr the Veil and Red Sleeve.... Definitely Daesang for Min...! Maybe MBC could not want to invest in their show because they will lack viewers for their award show too... I hope I am wrong...
  15. I love those scenes too. even from ep5 with them reading the love poems reading, I think their chemistry and subdued tension was very palpable in that scene. San is such a nerd, he knew and memorized those poems. if this was the modern time, this scene would probably be a serenade. Thank you for that again. I mean I've watched the clips a few hundred times, but it never seems enough. I do commend Junho again, his diet and exercise paid off. He looks soooooo fine. but honestly there are a lot of people to thank for this scene, first would be to the PD and the writer for putting this in, to Deokim for for jumping him, and lastly to the Kdrama traditional post-military shower scene. they deserve an award...! here is my speculation on it, I think it as joseon so modesty was at its highest it is a tell tale sign for San, DeokIm and as as audience on how San differentiates DI form other Court ladies. he did answer in this scene to DI that she does concern him; and thus any other court lady who would have entered he would not have cared on modesty cause he treats them as servants, but with DI he sees her as a woman, and the one he likes. . Nerdy couple for the win on such sizzling and high string sexual tension...!
  16. Episode 6 of Behind the Scenes Episode 6 clips Moments between DI and the queen, this is why you cast Jang HeeJin for this roles the Complexity if King Yeongjo lol I do need to move no from the bathtub scene cause I have a lot to do. but dropping this, uhoh....I am at it again... haha
  17. I had one sleepless night. this episode has taken over my saturday night- wee hours of Sunday. and the subs could not come fast enough, it was so frustrating, I was so hyper and wired that I keep waking with just a few minutes sleep.... so I ended up also doing my duty to watch it 1000times, like @abs-oluteM @mademoiselle I feel like everyone in my TL was falling all over themselves like DeokIm was because of his Junho.. Kya @Mizv the court ladies are all scared and want to avoid being serving him. and here they are thinking they are escaping by pushing the unsuspecting maknae DeokIm to face the wrath of San... not knowing that it was such a genius idea... though really, here I am watching everything and I would have been: or maybe that is his imagination.... though if it is really happening, he is powers of manifestation is strong... hahahaha and trending ratings increase. Yay. Upward RSC...! please soar
  18. it seems like MUCHADOBOUTLOVE/MIMI is updating every week this link and reading more on the historical stuff gives more layer to understanding the landscape of the drama, The Red Sleeve – Notes and Historical Stuff EP 5 – 6 afterthought: The coming-of-age ceremony or Gyeryesik (계례식) is an important milestone in a court maid’s life, where she dons the green ceremonial jacket wonsam and puts her hair up in a bun while wearing a coronet called jokduri. While in normal setting, the ceremony would be symbolizing her new beginning as an adult, it’s like a wedding ceremony for the court maid; she officially becomes one of the king’s women, since all court maids and court ladies belong to the king. I find it quite funny and sad at the same time to have San mistaking Deok-im for being made a concubine; the hairdo is quite a stretch for a court maid, but on the other hand, if it really happens, he has no power to stop it from happening. I’m also reminded of what Yeongjo said about Yeongbin in the first episode… Yeongjo’s suggestion about regency makes it clear that the drama is around the year of 1775. While it is normal for a grandpa to dotes on his grandson with endless praises, it is scary to have a king talking about handing over his throne to his successor while he is still alive. Yeongjo was known to be temperamental and used to threaten to abdicate his throne so many times over the years. In this situation, the court and the Crown Prince would have to plead for him to retract his decision. Although Yeongjo is merely talking about making San a Prince Regent through the Prince Regency (대리청정), that is enough to make the court tense as the last time someone became the Prince Regent, it didn’t end well. In history, Jeongjo did carry out the regency in the year before Yeongjo’s passing…so that probably leaves us a step closer to see San in his red dragon robe. I am excited to find out that they are going to show another important ceremony in the Inner Palace, which is Chinjamrye (친잠례) or Sericulture Ceremony since there’s a chance to see another interpretation of the robe worn by the Queen in the ceremony. But then, the drama probably decides to follow the practice of the late Joseon, where the women participating in the ceremony would be wearing their wonsam and the Queen her jeokui, instead of the yellow and blue gukui. Court Lady Jo’s intention is revealed in this week’s episode and it is now clear that she is not on San’s side; the reason being San having the possibility of going crazy like how his father did and harming the lives of the court maids and eunuchs. Is that why she is planning to push Deok-im into San’s embrace so that the anti-San movement can get a new justification? That the heir to the throne is idling around with a concubine instead of putting his mind and soul into grooming himself to become a good ruler in the future? Well, that kid has gritted his teeth for so long without stirring much trouble that I bet he won’t be shaken…or maybe, it’s Deok-im who will keep her promise of protecting San. The questions asked by the Queen (Jang Hee-jin) to Deok-im are among the actual questions said to be used during the queen’s selection, and Queen Jeongsun was chosen because Yeongjo liked her answers. However, it is clear that she also finds Deok-im’s answers intriguing, from how she reacts afterwards. The dog painting San looks at as he muses over the memorial during the anniversary of his father’s death belongs to Crown Prince Sado. In my opinion, Deok-ro and Princess Hwawan might be best friends if not for their conflicting interests; one wants to see San sitting on the throne, while the other isn’t going to let that happen. Both of them are so insecure and afraid of having another person stealing their limelight in front of the person they serve. Still, I am happy to see Deok-ro being so good at what he is doing in order to achieve his goal, but one question remains: what happens once San becomes the king? Is Deok-ro going to support his king with all his heart, or will his ambition pushes him to dream of becoming someone above the king? I didn’t expect to see Deok-ro’s sister quite early, but it is just a proof that the inevitable is coming soon. The girl Deok-im helps to enter the palace will later be selected as San’s concubine per Deok-ro’s plan, and for him to warn Deok-im against being close to his sister is quite sly and crafty of him. Is he a fortune teller, or is it simply because he is quick-witted? FOR EPISODE 1 - 4 CLICK HERE: https://thetalkingcupboard.com/2021/11/17/the-red-sleeve-notes-and-historical-stuff/
  19. The Red Sleeve Cuff Behind The Scenes Ep 5 Ep 6
  20. Junho IG Update by 2pm account Bathtub Scene... Expectation vs Reality Present vs Past
  21. I can somehow understand San's mother, her purpose and her motive. If you read some excepts of Memoroirs of Lady Hyehyeong, you would see her accounts regarding his husband Sado, her life in the palace and the politics behind the royal life. You can see her earlier works regarding her life and relationships with the royals when she was young, and then as she grew old her view regarding the court politics. I think at this stage of her life, she knows enough about court to know that DeokIm could very well be a hindrance of San to the throne. There is already a very high contention against San for the throne for being Crown Prince Sado's Son. If you add DeokIm, a girl of unknown background (she did say that DI is the child of a traitor) the philosophers of that time would just add that as another bullet against San. Additionally at this time San has yet to have a child. As the future of the monarch, people always associate having solid ground to having one, and the most solid ground for that would be to have a child with San's Crown Princess. So if DeokIm would be more than a court lady to San (which most likely she has inferred given San's actions), and have a child with her. that would probably create a destabilize or chaotic court, or San would have lesser court hold, which would mean bad for San and the kingdom So its is not really about having DeokIm do her bidding, and a little about making sure DeokIm knows where she stands and what the goal and purpose of San is, and it is about the throne.... it maybe a bit sly but I think she knows to survive in the palace she will do things to protect San.
  22. 2PM’s Lee Junho And Lee Se Young Get Into A Heart-Fluttering Accident During Bath Time In “The Red Sleeve” Nov 27, 2021 by L. Kim MBC’s “The Red Sleeve” unveiled new stills of 2PM’s Lee Junho and Lee Se Young! “The Red Sleeve” is a new historical drama about the imperial romance between crown prince Yi San (played by Lee Junho), who later becomes emperor, and the strong-willed court lady Seong Deok Im (played by Lee Se Young). SPOILER Previously on the drama, Yi San and Seong Deok Im grew closer after resolving their misunderstandings. Yi San encountered a complex situation due to his political opponents, and through that crisis, Seong Deok Im got a glimpse into his scarred heart. Seong Deok Im vowed to protect Yi San, making viewers anticipate the upcoming episode. The newly released stills capture dizzying tension between the two characters. Yi San is taking a bath with only his undergarments, and his intense gaze is fixed on Seong Deok Im, who is the only one there to assist him. She keeps her eyes away from him, but it’s apparent she feels uneasy. Seong Deok Im’s anxiousness heightens when they both somehow end up in the tub. Yi San’s arms are around her, and his eyes are still pinned on her. Seong Deok Im, who is soaked from head to toe, is stiff with nervousness, and she doesn’t dare look into his eyes. What kind of developments will occur between them in the future? 23. More on the Poem Read by DeokIm to San Cast IG update: Spoiler *Wink**Wink*, San becomes king...! well, I think DeokIm is rational one since she never was a that into Deokro... But With the Sasaeng court ladies, I think they would deny everything and say that he is framed or he is forced by San to do the things he is doing. Both of san's sister are married and those two guys are San's brother-in-law. and yup they are classified as Sa's people/inner circle The guy with facial hair is married to san's Maknae sister. While the pretty boy he called "hyung-nim" is married to the younger sister who came next to San.
