  1. If the drama continues as it has in ep2, it's looking good. Everyone seems to have a hidden agenda/secret so there is a little suspense all around. Park Sung Hoon's appearance makes things even more lively.

Agreed that Hyun Woo is not likeable for now. Seems heartless that he was happy that his wife, a woman he used to love, was suddenly dying in 3 months. I'm not sure a decent person can do that, no matter how miserable he was. Plus, his misery is a little self-made - it looks like he was a pushover in the 3 years of marriage. Did he attempt to discuss his difficulties with Hae In? There were moments between the 2 of them where it felt they could have been a power-couple if only they worked together. I hope the show is not going to go the usual route of the wife finding out that he was faking (initially) to create the angst later.

The gender reversal of all the son-in-laws is such a great take on how all the daughter-in-laws had to do during memorial service and public holidays. There's a sense of great satisfactory seeing all the men in the kitchen, and likewise makes my blood boils when Soo Cheol, being the son, does absolutely nothing.

This is a good observation. I realised that I pitied the men, but not when the women were in the kitchen because that was the "norm". I shall try to be more aware of my own bias from now onwards lol!

Do you think Hae In is not the mother's natural daughter? Could she be adopted or father's illegitimate child?

Is she also in love with her husband??

At this time, he despises her haha. But I think he is going to find that he does still love her if they can get along better. It's clear she still loves him from ep 1.

I was disappointed with the drama when everything was revealed. I would have preferred it to be something mysterious about the tomb.

I think the ending was not very memorable, because I can't remember it anymore hahaha.

  3. Ep1

Kim Ji Won is real frosty! While Kim Soo Hyun is a little “nuah” (soft/too accommodating) as the long suffering husband. He wants a divorce but knows that he will be destroyed by the family if he leaves so he hesitates. The wife obviously still loves him. They married for love so I wonder what happened that the relationship deteriorated to this state. Maybe the wife has a plan but can’t openly stand up for him and he mistook that.

The best scene is the one with Oh Jung Se, the therapist! So funny. I hope his is a recurring cameo.

Kim Ji Won’s clothes are nice! So is the interior decor.

One thing that bothers a little is they used the exact location of Binjin’s wedding and the same flower decor (though not as abundant) and the same display of photos for the OTP’s wedding. As BJ’s wedding was private, this seems an intrusion. Hopefully the writer at least sought agreement from Binjin.

  4. I'm at 3.5, and watching with a lot of FFWD.

They need to do something about Ji Han and Do Han's hair! I swear, only korean actors go around with their fringe down like that or parted in the middle with a little wave/curl  :scaredpanda2:

Anyway, MSM, though quite cute, lacks a bit of gravitas for the role. Somehow he's not very convincing as a suave and charming young man. The part where he told Ah Jung he will seduce her so she will fall for him - I looked at him like Ah Jung looked at him - highly sceptical. Not with that hair (with a little sideburn omg), I thought 😆. It was a bit cringy to me, because he seemed like a cocky little boy, talking big. Then booking the whole business class section etc, where does he get the money? He has a lowly job, grandfather doesn't like him but gives him a lot of money? Mother left him inheritance? Now, I'm just waiting for the day he is appointed heir of the family business, and then surely they must comb his hair up then, right?!

    1 hour ago, abs-oluteM said:

Though it is the only logical choice that he would go after her and steal her heart

Actually I don't get this plot line at all.

Shouldn't he be happy that grandfather has accepted the marriage and will still appoint Do Han to manage the company? Why is he trying to break them up? (Apart from being subconsciously in love with Ah Jung).

Chae Won seems like a decent girl. Considering they are showing her story, who is she expected to end up with?

  6. I fast forwarded most of the last episode 😆 Sadly, Su Min's revenge plan was remarkably simplistic and disappointing. But at the end of the day, she was never portrayed as intelligent, just a schemer who had some small success when no one was aware of her intentions.

On 2/21/2024 at 6:17 AM, mademoiselle said:

The show is probably not going to explain this, but the bit about Manager Kang is so, how to say, illogical? I thought when she said she has evidence, it was because the HR guy is the witness. However, all of a sudden, because Min Hwan died, the dashcam video's images are restored. What the...?

I thought the same, but also wondered how effective that could be. This drama has a fantasy element, so everything that cannot be explained, we just say, "it's fantasy" 😂

On 2/21/2024 at 6:17 AM, mademoiselle said:

Anyway, agreed with all that this episode is definitely more interesting, except I still don't appreciate the characters taking turns being stupid. In this episode, Yura is the stupid one.

Hahaha, but now we know the reason for her role. It's to take Jin Hyuk's fate!

@gilaswan In the webtoon, how was Jin Hyuk saved?

In summary, this drama was better than expected. I enjoyed most of it.

    8/10 for entertainment value

    8/10 for the supporting actors

6/10 for intricasies of the plot

    6/10 for the main leads

  7. @mademoiselle You were right! It was a set up 😂

Ep 15 was quite good, I thought. In fact, it now seems a more interesting ending than the webtoon. I like that they left Su Min till the end to plot her revenge on Ji Won.

    My takeaways from this episode:

    1. All the scenes with Su Min are super interesting. That scene with Ji Hyuk at the bar, at least the writer didn't dumb her down. Her questions and Ji Hyuk's answers were unexpected. I also thought Na In Woo had one of his better scenes here. He was "plotting" instead of just showing his morose expression.

    2. Park Min Young is better as a villianess than a romance lead hahaha. At least I can then dislike her legitimately lol. Her scene with Su Min at the lift was great! The actress playing Su Min is also wonderful conveying her uncertainty/"vulnerability" - very subtle.

Is the translator still translating? I hope she will continue on and complete it.

Do you mean you wanted to read what happened after LBY killed his uncle i.e., the part where Shao Shang is engaged to Yuan Shan Jian and then Ling Bu Yi returned?

In novel, SS and YSJ are in a more friendly situation than in the drama. In drama, YSJ was very childish in the sense that he keeps saying things against his will and annoy SS. In the book, she asked YSJ to find out for her how Lou Yao was doing, except just when he has news for her, she had no time to care about Lou Yao because LBY got into big trouble with Emperor coz of her (the bit where he was spanked).

Can't seem to find the story anymore. The link just brings you back to the main synopsis. You try?

    https://www.novelupdates.com/series/love-like-the-galaxy/

I think you mentioned that in the novel, the 3 male leads were quite equal. So I wondered about that. I quite like YSJ in the drama.

Wasn't the criteria of fate transfer being "the husband needs to have the thought of killing his wife" - that was all she needed. I doubt Ji Won would want to really sleep with Min Hwan if she had to seduce him.

I have no idea what the criteria is anymore haha.

    But that's a good point.

On rewatch, I'm grumbling at the writer. Under her pen, so many of the female characters are stupid and doesn't know when to shut their mouth to save their own lives (the grandmother - though she's entertainingly funny, the aunt, 3rd + 5th princess, Crown Princess, Wang Ling, Lou Yao's sister and her mother, Wen Xiu Jun, Yu Chang*, Ru Yang and ZiSheng's stepmother). I'm also (still) not a fan of the Empress.

*In novel, Yu Chang isn't spoilt like in the drama.

The novel writer or the screenwriter?

I recommended my dad to watch this, but he couldn't take the noisy grandmother / a bunch of women quarelling 😂

There are some changes in characters between the book and drama, so I am quite lost on those. I tend to just skip it as I really only want to read the parts between SS and YSJ and LBY, and see what's the difference in the overall plot.

@Chocolate I don't think she has ever slept with with him. They were still fully clothed lying on the bed when Su Min walked in on them. My guess is she was just giving him a lil' bit skinship so that he would do her bidding. Take note she kissed him on his cheeks only based on the lipstick mark.

I highly doubt that! 🤣 If that were so, likely there would be another twist on why Ji Won's fate was not fully transferred - because they didn't really DO IT hahahah.

I take the fully clothed thing as just one of those fails from all these dramas. The woman is always clothed in some manner, which is unrealistic but necessary because this is afterall fiction lol.

I thought his 我來了 is quite romantic 😂

I tried reading the properly translated novel. But the translator was releasing it quite slowly so I lost momentum. Will try to continue.

In my whole lifetime (and that's quite long hahaha), I think I can only say there are 4 top-notch c-dramas in my list:

    - The Empress of China

    - Yanxi Palace

    - Love Like the Galaxy

    - Fake It Till You Make It

I unfortunately couldn't get into Shadow Detective, and haven't picked it back up since.

A Shop for Killers would be 8/10.

Shadow Detective starts off slow, but the story picks up. Not the fast fast kind, but the plot is quite good.

I think the story telling in Shadow Detective & even A Shop for Killers is abit more sophisticated. That said, this is still not bad though I don't know if the show is trying to angle this more as a super hero drama? The RohBin hacker seems to see his ability as "gift" . Over the 4 episodes that I have watched ,  it's switched from manslaughter/ murder that was born out of anger to a vigilante cause? It feels like  the drama is trying to justify that this is his life's calling to kill these criminals since the urge for him to dirty his hands only appears when he encounters them.

    On 2/14/2024 at 6:06 PM, abs-oluteM said:

You are so right about this....suddenly the focus is on another killer (LHJ). I am actually at episode 7 and it feels like I am watching a completely unrelated drama with the only link being RohBin. If this show was a pure procedural where SSK's character is the central character, then I think it is alright that they spend so much screen time on LHJ. But here CWS's character is the reason for the title of this drama...shouldn't they zero in on his journey and his development?

From the start, I found it hard to reconcile CWS as a hero figure. Before he started his killing spree, his character was average - he cheated on his girlfriend and did he steal from someone? I can't remember now. Anyway, his is not the kill and save the world kind of mentality. He stumbled into it, and it so happened that the 2 he killed were evil. I thought that was the point of the drama - that he has a "talent" and will spontaneously come across those who deserve to die.

So when he had a sidekick who would FIND the victims for him, it was no longer a paradox to me. That's just vigilante justice, which after watching so many dramas, my personal opinion is the cons outweigh the pros, generally speaking.

In fact, I think LHJ's story was more compelling. It felt justified that he was pushed to the limit and thus battered SSK's father in the spur of the moment. Thus, I was quite sad when SSK shot him. His father deserved it and SSK, I wish, could have accepted that.

  14. Thanks @gilaswan for the summary from the webtoon. That sounds more interesting than our last few episodes - was Su Min being abused by the MIL very badly to lead her to kill MIL?

Actually if we look at Min Hwan's character, even if Ji Won did not do anything, he is destined to cheat.

I also don't understand why the ex-fiancee would sleep with Min Hwan. Surely, it was not necessary to her plan for him to help breakup JW and JH - just need to throw money at him. From her perspective, wouldn't it be quite an "eeeewwww" kind of feeling 😅

At least the mystery box has a chance of winning - it's 10-25% chance roughly. The numbers box is impossible - 1% chance - how to accurately guess the correct number from 1-100? 😅

The conclusion is, it is better to just give out the points rather than buy the boxes 😂

  18. Today is everybody's birthday. So Happy Birthday!

And that mystery box thing - I opened 3 boxes myself and the message is "Sorry you didn't win this time. Try again." I am going to buy a hundred boxes and see what the probability is.

So dear friends, just know that it is the thought that counts! 😅

    Edit:

I did a test with 20+ boxes and won 5 times with haven points ranging from 200 to 800. I think I almost break even with the cost of the boxes. But the wins only came after you have opened about 10 boxes, then it came quite frequently. So I should be sending you 20 boxes at a time for you to have any chance of winning!

I shall send 20 boxes to @mademoiselle to test! Win or not, a message will pop up at the top of the My Items screen. Please open all of them at one go. Maybe the system knows when you are a BIG customer and rewards you more at the end haha.

BTW @Chocolate, when you rewatch LLTG, what episodes do you watch from? And if not, what scenes do you rewatch? I find myself not so interested with the bit that she is with Lou Yao, although some scenes of her in there with LBY were nice too, because LBY is holding off his feelings there.

I watch from ep8 onwards, when she said LBY admires her but she is not interested to all the bitchy ladies, and then just let it run while I work. The parts that I will stop and pay attention are:

    Spoiler

    - when she went to the Wan family and met LBY there

    - ep12 of course!

    - where LY announces they are engaged to LBY and YSJ and the dinner with YSJ's master - I love that discussion on how he failed the aunt

    - where she has to break off the engagement to LY - love YSJ's explanation to NN why LY is He Zhaojun's last resort and then she asked YS to marry HZJ instead lol, and also when LBY says 我来了 at the execution then tries to protect NN when HZJ was scolding her

    - when LBY saves her at the Pagoda, emperor first meets her in the tent, and her visit to his house with her father

    - ep24 where LBY saved her from the fall and proposed!

    - when they attended LY and HZJ's wedding - I like that she defended him when HZJ said he has 杀气

    - when they reconcile and meet with the emperor and queen (I skip the exercise parts and when he tries to make her family laugh - somehow I don't enjoy those)

    - ep 38/40 with Consort Yue!

    - their betrothal scene when the 2 woman were banished!

    - empress's birthday bash until the fall of the 5th princess

    - when they go investigate the Liang family

    - also love the part when NN sends soup to LBY after court and the minister says he is so lucky

Then I usually stop after LY's older brother's death.

    What are your favourite scenes?

I happened to chance upon a post that shared a few pages of Yi Yang and Yin Guo's love scenes. I don't know how those who does translation "translate" one of the pages because when I read it, I was super confused of what I was reading. It makes you wonder if you're being dirty minded. I considered this a bad writing. If a writer is good with words, there are many ways to convey what happened indirectly—using metaphor or hints. I've read many romance novels before, some can be very outright descriptive, some isn't, but I've never seen one like this where I question myself. LOL.

Also, I find myself wondering whether Park Min Hwan and Jeong Su Min are competing to see who is the stupidest. Or they just decided they will take turns?

I know she's in the manga, but she wasn't that involved in making a mess. I just... really dislike this side plot, and the person playing it is just not working for me.

I would much prefer that screen time is given to Su Min and Min Hwan because these 2 can act.

I agree, @Chocolate, the show doesn't seem to explain anything. Not that I expect it will. How was the acting between them? Both good or one is better than the other? Seems like Knetizens have now noticed the actress playing Su Min and praised her for good acting.

Hahaha it's true. I am quite sad that in the last few episodes, Su Min, didn't do much except throw tantrums. Min Hwan was also shouting a lot which was very noisy. Nevertheless, I still find this pairing more interesting than the main leads lol and they do act a lot better, but if I said that on twitter, I'd probably get bashed!

I am also puzzled by Ji Hyuk's inability to do anything to the ex-fiancee. Is his family not richer than hers? Why can she buy off the police regarding the car accident, and he can't even find out who caused it?

Still don't get the logic in this, but Ji Won thinks the reason her fate transferred to Kang was because of "a husband who cheats to have the thought of wanting his wife dead". So she decided to seduce Min Hwan again so that the fate can go to Su Min. Ji Hyuk intercepted it in the middle by sending the red heels to Yura, so Ji Won rejected Min Hwan's invitation to a date. Min Hwan strangled her at the end of this episode...

This transfer of fate thing - @gilaswan how was it in the webtoon? Is it the same as the drama ie. Ms Kang also got the cancer, but later transferred back to Su Min because Min Hwan was having an affair with the ex-fiancee? On the side, I also feel quite sorry for Su Min because she really is treated very badly by Min Hwan, until the next evil thing she says...

You were right @mademoiselle Ji Won is impetuous. She tends to act before the situation is fully resolved, which is risky. Which is exactly what happened in ep14. Why dump Min Hwan so sudddenly just because she knows he is already having an affair with another woman? She forgot that he has violent tendencies. And then, please, we have all wached enough TV to know that if someone is threatening you, please take off your super high heels and go run and hide in some room where you can lock the door 🙄

I was almost at the point of thinking, just kill her please. So disappointing that Ji Hyuk turned up 😂

What is the drama after this ends?
