Seems I'm wrong. She must now seduce Park Min Hwan, so that the cancer will transfer to Su Min? 🙄 This is beginning to sound ridiculous.

I hope she made a will, so that they will not have motive to kill her anymore.

But that scene between Su Min and Ji Won in ep13 was good. Gave me goose bumps.

@mademoiselle sorry I just realised now what you mean by seal the deal. I thought you meant if they had become a couple. 🤣🤣. I don’t think our boy here has been able to hit the home run despite her Titanic suggestions . I’m crying 😂

I'm at episode 1 🤣 Someone, just tell me where to pick up - ep 17 haha?

@Tofu I only read a few bits. It was very sexy/hot (many homeruns already lol) but conversation was super dull. Think the drama followed the book quite closely re the dialogue, so I'm not superkeen to watch it.

The thing is, watching Wu Lei in Nothing But You, who is a virgin boy with an older woman, then he films this drama where he is sex god on wheels, I wonder what he did to improve in between 😅

Oh, because I was so preoccupied with how it ends, I forgot to share that I really didn't like it whenever Seung Joo mentioned "We are family" to his team.

It reminded me at workplace, a manager said the same thing to the employees (=you're at my disposal and my subordinate). I see this as a huge red flag when someone says this. Even the mention "We're a team" sends untrustworthy vibes. LOL. What's everyone's thought on this?

Well, I treat my family worse than my friends, so by all means, be my family! 😂

I didn't the mind the ending. Since Jinman didn't appear until at the end, figured there would be S2 so I was prepared! Looking forward to it.

Anyone started this yet? I noticed all 8 episodes are available on NF. I have 4 more episodes of Big Bet S2 to finish before I start this. Coincidentally SSK is cop there and here :D

I’m done with all 8 in one binge today.

It’s not bad although 6 episodes may have been better. A bit slow in the first half but the second half is more exciting once LHJ appeared.

Didn’t read the synopsis in detail but thought the main plot was CWS having the knack to murder people who are villians - that creates the paradox - and SSK’s investigation of his murders. But in the middle of this, suddenly, SSK started to chase another villain 😅 and CWS started to cry 🙄😂 I found the switch a little abrupt and CWS’s story incomplete in a way.

The way they showed some of the scenes is interesting - from different angles/time period - so you don’t see the actual killing (you can watch alone @JenL). But beware, you will see some boobies and backsides 😁.

SSK looks good despite the beard. He has a certain swagger that makes him very watchable. But they aged LHJ such that he is almost an uncle to SSK 😅

Lotsa lurkers in this thread, too. What makes you think you're safe here? But I can't believe you set me up in that thread, and decided to hide yours here!  Is there any actresses you are very impressed with in K-entertainment?

PMY has just as many stans as PSH and they defend their biases fiercely. PMY vs PSH - which one do you prefer for performance?

Hahaha, that's me itching to criticise, but I learnt to be more circumspect from you gals, so I test water first hahahaha.

I'd rather watch PSH. She's normal even if not exceptional. She's just too girly for fighting scenes lol.

Na In Woo in MMH also has been disappointing. I mean, he looks great, but that's it. I honestly was hoping to get more out of him in this one, if you know what I mean. That said, with actresses, I don't think I can even name one female lead actresses where I'm very impressed with, in a constant manner. I could name older (veteran) like Ra Mi Ran and Kim Mi Kyung being impressive, but others I'm so-so, even Kim Hye Soo sometimes I am not that impressed. Kim Nam Joo was really good in Misty, but that's just one drama. So I'm checking out her upcoming drama to see if I feel the same still. Again, she's an older and seasoned actress, not those in their 20s or 30s. I don't know I'm too tough on the ladies, or the Oppa are just much stronger in acting (and they have better scripts or something).  I discussed this with Tea before.

Yeah, NIW looked good for the first few episodes, then never developed. Not sure if it is the role, but he is also not a strong actor.

Kim Taeri comes to mind. She was quite good in Revenant. I haven't watched kdramas long enough to know many and seen many works from any one actress. I thought Bae Suzy was quite good in Anna - not sure why she gets criticised for being a bad actress.

I'm like you guys actually. Eon years ago there was news LMH will go to another city for CF. I could fly there and wait at the airport, but then I thought why the heck would I drive 1 hour to my airport, fly over there JUST TO SEE HIM FOR FEW MINUTES? Plus, I don't even know when he'll arrive, so I'd have to wait at the airport. No thanks. But, another online friend I know went to LAX (from California) to see him. It was so chaotic that she was pushed closer to him too, so I guess that was worth it? (And we've got pictures/videos of her beside him...hahaha!) The dedication between us was just different. Hahaha! If I can't convince myself it is worth it, I just can't cross that line for Oppa. I often think why can't one of those, I went somewhere and they just happened to be there - that kind of scenario?

Fly! Wah, you're a veteran in fangirling!

In Singapore, I learned that before you ask anything about going somewhere, you ask how long the queue is. People will decide to go somewhere based on that.

Haha, did you have to queue for anything while you were here?

The problem here is, the good stuff, you have to queue and also put up with the rude stallholders, who have all sorts of rules like no extra chili, cannot separate the sauce etc. We;re just simply at their mercy hahaha.

Oh, it's actually not a ship. When the first design was released, the feng shui experts said it looked like ancestral tablets, coffin pallbearers so they changed the design a bit. That "ship" used to be rounded on both sides - now one side is straight line.

At this rate, it almost seem like anyone entangled with Ji Won inherits her karma. Still don't understand why Manager Kang got her fate, and now it looks like she's becoming Ji Won because her husband also is cheating and it might lead to her death. But some things are still different in the sense that Manager Kang has parents who love her whom she can rely on, and because Ji Hyuk has a Specialist on stand-by, her cancer can be cured.

I think the moral of the story is the character of the person. In both Ji Won and Ms Kang's case, both were weak and bullied by the husband. That is the connector. The ex-fiancée is frustratingly annoying. 😅 It did not help either because BoA's acting is not good. Did she approach Min Hwan in the webtoon, too? I read in comments that it was Su Min who was supposed to run her car at Ji Won.

Is that BoA?! I was frustrated with ep12. Ji Hyuk held on to her hands tightly and yet Ji Won was the one to fling it away, in front of the ex! Then she goes on to break up with him because of her insecurities. That's as good as giving your man up to the other woman. How stupid is that. Then so much of the episode is her moping after the breakdup, which was caused by herself 🙄

Romance is her forte so I think she's OK, and I've enough trust in her to deliver well in this department that I will watch her dramas. That said, I don't think she has had some outstanding performances that made strong impression in this drama or in the previous two. The actress playing Su Min at times became the scene stealer in here due to the villain role she played. But acting wise, I'd say still stronger than some actresses who got famous around the same time as her. Why? What about you?

Reply you here, in case there are any diehard PMY fans there lol. There were some comments on X on how the villian couple were more interesting than the OTP, and a quarrel began 😅

I don't like her. I find her acting artificial. Even when her eyes are pooling with unshed tears, it feels like someone put eyedrops there 😂 So I can't marshal any emotion for the character - there is no pity for her sad state in her 1st life, no elation at her success, and I fast forward all the romance scenes with Na In Woo. It's just blah.

In fact, I think I would enjoy the drama more if the FL was someone else.

  10. Synopsis:

8 people in need of money are invited to appear on the reality-variety show Money Game. The 8 people are to stay at the studio that consists of nothing but concrete walls. If they are able to hang in there for 100 days, they can divide the winning prize of 44.8 billion won equally. But, everything they spend on, including necessities like food, water, and electricity, costs 1,000 times more than normal prices and is deducted from the winning prize.

Is this a drama or reality show?

100 days without seeing sunlight is quite difficult, even without games.

And they have to live like caveman to not eat into the prize money!

  12. Ep 11.

Min Hwan treated Su Min horribly even before they were married. So many signs, Su Min being as smart as she is, should have recognised it and woke up. But she was obsessed with snatching the "family" from Ji Won. This is a hole she dug herself into. So silly.

Very minor differences. Ms Yang's personal storyline is a lot more fleshed out. She has marital problems too and seems to have "taken on" some of Jiwon's ill fortune, but I'm not sure if that will be played out in the drama.

Great to see Ms Yang standing up for herself. When they started to show similarities between Ms Yang and Ji Won's old life, I got worried for her and lo and behold

    Spoiler

Ms Yang's got the stomach cancer!

But she will get cured right? Because she needs to end up with the Strategy guy lol.

This actor was the ace pitcher Kang Dooki in Hot Stove League. He was so suited for that role, I haven't been able to accept him in any other role!

What do you guys think about Park Minyoung's acting?

  13. Just done ep 5.

There are some parts where I wished Ji An was a little smarter. Like why ask the guy who is sensitive to light to free Jeong Min, then question him? If you are not sure, then leave him tied up while you question him. But she is a 20 year old who feels indebted. Plus all this happened suddenly right after the Uncle’s funeral (it feels like so much time has passed but it actually has not). So she is handling it remarkably well in the circumstances.

Figured out uncle has an enemy. Probably the guy he testified against. So the killing of the family is revenge.

A question is if Jeong Jinman is really dead. I find it hard to believe he would commit suicide just because of the sound clip, and without trying to save the niece first. He is so savvy, surely he would not believe that they would release her after he dies. I’d like to think his death is a hoax to lure his enemy out.

Side thought, 1 of the killers going into the house is quite cute. My first thought was “what a waste, you’re going to die” 😂.

Is the last episode this coming Wed or need to wait until next week?

    • Haha 4
  14. I've just done 2 episodes.

Agree that chemistry between uncle and niece is fantastic. The way he taught her to be independant is interesting - maybe parents should learn this instead of coddling their children (I get irritated when parents call me on behalf of their University going kids to ask questions!) hahaha.

I also have the same questions (1) why are people killing Jin Man's whole family, including his mum?, bro and SIL? And why the niece now? (b) Ji An's friend is likely evil...

  16. This looks interesting. Obviously I like the chaebol lead characters, and also writer did Crash Landing On You haha!

    Script Reading

Penned by “Crash Landing on You,” “My Love From the Star,” and “Producer” writer Park Ji Eun, “Queen of Tears” will follow the romance of Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won), the chaebol heiress known as the “queen” of Queens Group’s department stores, and Baek Hyun Woo (Kim Soo Hyun), who is the son of the head of Yongduri and the “supermarket prince,” as they face a crisis three years into marriage and start their love again like a miracle.

    Spoiler

    queen-of-tears-02.jpeg

Kim Soo Hyun expresses the subtle emotions of Baek Hyun Woo, who is intimidated by the power of his wife’s chaebol family but pretends that he is calm on the outside.

    queen-of-tears-03.jpeg

On the other hand, Kim Ji Won portrays Hong Hae In, the CEO of Queens Group’s department store, with her cynical tone of voice and sharp eyes.

    queen-of-tears-04.jpeg

Meanwhile, Park Sung Hoon adds tension to the story by playing investment expert Yoon Eun Sung who forms a close relationship with Queens Group.

    queen-of-tears-05.jpeg

Kwak Dong Yeon, who plays Hong Hae In’s younger brother Hong Soo Chul, and Lee Joo Bin, who plays Hong Soo Chul’s wife Cheon Da Hye, fill the room with laughter with their cute lovey-dovey moments.

And inasmuch as I didn't like Su Min getting "rich" from the share market, but @Chocolate your guess might be right that instead of seeing Ji Won as his ATM, and he had no interest in marrying Su Min before (and just want to bed her), he is likely to turn his attention towards Su Min because of this.

Turns out the money is not a factor to the marriage. Min Hwan seems to be marrying her because she is "pregnant" and his mother now says she MAY buy him the house if he gave her a grandchild. Expecting a bust up when he finds out she is NOT pregnant lol. Woah, his speech to Su Min that she is not marriage material is really heartless eh! I'm surprised Su Min being as shrewd as she is will still accept his proposal. People always say, things said in the heat of the moment are usually true.

I think the money from her shares will either help her get away from him later, or for her revenge on him. Or perhaps they will fight over it since it may be considered "communal property"? Either way, the drama between these two is highly entertaining! Both actors are doing very well. Hate the characters but not the actors - quite an accomplishment that the audience can distinguish this.

    19 hours ago, mademoiselle said:

And goodness me, Su Min is super scary. I can't understand her at all. She's like a leech, just wouldn't let go after being fed unless blood is drawn. Min Hwan's mother is another nightmare and such huge red flag. If a to be mother-in-law says that to me at first meet, I wouldn't even sit through the meal. I'd just say goodbye and run for my life! Haven't we heard enough horror stories on in-laws to learn a thing or two? Ji Won is stupid. Even if she was desperate for a family, with a mother-in-law like that, I'd rather be alone.

Su Min is scary! Seemed a bit lunatic when she was obsessing that Ji Won didn't help her. At that moment, I was worried her focus would turn to revenge on Ji Won instead of her "love" for Min Hwan. From the preview, hopefully, those 2 will get married and Ji Won's plan is successful. Then I hope to see Su Min pushed to the brink by the MIL, go after the MIL with the chopper! 😂

6 more episodes left, which will likely show how Ji Hyuk can be saved. I like this drama but his noble idiocy and gloomy persona is a drag. So unnecessary. And why is he making arrangements to look after the cat? Even if he dies as he expects, that's 10 years later! Will the cat outlive him? How long do cats live anyway.
