Actually this drama did deviate from the movie. If I remember correctly (from reading)  the pair did separate for a year and reconnected after that.

OH THANK GOD. 😄😄😄 I'm so happy we got all the sunshine we needed after the storm. I really wish this was how MMH ended but I'm fine with it now. We need some variety so maybe back to back all out good endings wouldn't have been as effective.... (Or that's just what I want to think out of it now..😄)

Ijun's acting, especially in the last couple of episodes, was superb. So many feels when he was crying. I hope to see more of him in more shows in the near future. 👍

And speaking of seeing in other shows... Halmoni...  Halmoniii. 😫 I hope the next time I see her in a show, her legs are injury free and she gets to live. 😄 She's 3/3 in both categories from what I've seen her on.  Her death here was uhm... Gosh I can't find the proper word. I was going for something in the line of "beautiful" but I'm not sure if its appropriate, but I hope it makes sense.

    Spoiler

Mouse, Squid Game, and now HTCCC. 😄. She injures her leg and dies in all three.

At this point in my kdrama watching career (still pretty short actually) I have come to embrace PPL's and the "creativity" in how they are shown. I feel like most people would do so at a certain point I guess? Sure they can ruin the immersion but I just find it so funny now when it's so absurd. That Domino's ad came out of nowhere! 😄 Imagine driving from Seoul all the way to Gongjin just to have pizza delivered. It must be that good right? 👌 Thanks to BTIMFL, I always imagine some young assistant writer doing their best to intentionally troll the viewers with PPL.

Anyway. I am satisfied. Thank you HTCCC.

  2. (as usual) I might have missed some key points already since I'm sort of multitasking when when i watch these days. Hopefully I'm not completely off on the whole mystery and secret agenda of all the different people. From what i understand, there are multiple players trying to bring down or take over the museum. Its sort of unclear yet who's doing what, but there's a lot of shady things happening... Or are there already reveals or acts that can clearly be pinpointed to a certain party? From my standpoint, its still not 100% sure which group is responsible for ransacking Won-tak's place. Right? 😄 Maybe I should have done a bit more backreading before writing this but oh well.

Im curious, if you find your place broken into, would you enter immediately to check the damage? I sort of understand why Dali went inside even if for us viewers it looked extremely dangerous. We know that someone's out there that potentially wants to get rid of her, but she doesn't, so maybe she didn't think that someone else would still be inside. What I don't get is why she had to end the call with Won-tak after she realizes a thief or someone else is inside the house. 🤔

@abs-oluteM did you notice that the apartment Dali and Tae-Jin went to is the same as Jasung's first empty house in MMH? I actually haven't double-checked but I'm like 90% sure. 😄 I have probably watched that MMH scene more than I should have.

And no, i don't see Won Tak as a love rival. Actually, I don't see Tae-Jin as a love rival at all too.

I really like how MH handled their kiss misunderstanding.. .mistake?... Accident? It was a nice move how he said that for him it wasn't a mistake. They could have gone the route in which MH also did a U-turn and acknowledged that it was just a heat of the moment mistake and nothing special, but they made him double down instead. Yey!

I have also started to like MH's dad. That whole scene with him noticing the lead's glances to one another was really funny. Seems like he's gonna play a big role in supporting MH in both love life and whatever is brewing behind the scenes against Dali and the museum.

  3. Ahh... I can't believe it's already finale week! I don't know where my time went. 😆 For me, it certainly doesn't feel like we're already at episode 14 (ep 15 very soon). I guess that's just how laid back the show is. Its just like a gentle sea breeze with the occasional crashing of waves in the background. The mystery is just there to put us ever so slightly on edge, but it's hardly ever brought up throughout the show. I think it's only in ep 14 that it's really put back in the spotlight. I'm not sure how big of a storm it will be but I hope they show us a good amount of "sunlight" afterwards.

The only reason I can come up with as to why Hye-Jin was behaving this way was that she was very much in love and just wanting to enjoy the moment with a man she truly liked. It looks like she's only had 1 previous relationship and back then she was too busy juggling work and school so she didn't really have time to have fun. So perhaps she's just doing the things she's always wanted to be able to do, now with Du Sik. If I look at it from this perspective, I can understand.

Thank you for pointing this out. I'll try and look at it from the same perspective since it was also cringy for me. I found it funny when Hyejin at one point was saying how Doo-Shik has changed or she doesn't know him anymore when I felt he was actually just being the same. I thought that there might have been some time skip/jump or something and they've been in a relationship for a long time already. But right after Hyejin talks with miss Yeo and she says she's only been there for 4 or 5 months. 😆 The way Hyejin has acted in their relationship doesn't really match the way I think she should have, for her age or personality or whatever.

As a side note, I don't know how to feel about a cop selling toys that look like real firearms. Why not just have him sell something else for the sake of the "mystery money"...

And another side note, I just adore this kid's reaction here:

  4. Aahhh. Finally caught up with this show!

It might be tropey and at this point, I feel like some viewers are tired of seeing it, but the childhood flashbacks that are weaved with the interactions of the main leads work for me. The way they slowly peel the layers have so much weight. They aren't simply connected by knowing each other in the past, they are also bound by a greater force. Cheon-gi is also only borrowing Ha-ram's eyes. They've yet to realise this and how it came to be. Since Cheon-gi was originally blind (?), I guess they will never be able to see each other at the same time?

I really liked her explanation for her paintings during the contest. Art is very subjective and I have to admit the paintings were just "okay" for me, but combined with the explanation, they do make sense. I mean, they're great and look amazing, but of course they needed to make it sound like they're transcendent in the show. All the fine words about the brushstrokes and control and composition all that jazz and you're forced to raise your expectations. I actually didn't like the one by straw hat with the water that he didn't need to paint. It just looked.... incomplete. 🤣 I did like the butterflies flying on the flowers though. If I saw that happening in real life, I'd probably declare that the winner already. This is probably why it's easier to convince viewers when it's a show about food/cooking.

I find it funny that Grand Prince Juhyang doesn't really dress like a prince, but definitely dresses like a villain. All his dark-themed clothing make him look more like an assassin instead of someone who is royalty.

I laughed a little internally when it was revealed Cheon Ki will spend her day with Ha Ram and the night with Yang Myung.

😆😆 Thank you! I failed to make this connection. So funny. Prince Yangmyeong also pretty sly. Also, it must be pretty controversial having to spend hours with lady alone, at night, in secret. I'm surprised CheonGi didn't push back at all with this scenario. 😅

Isn't Cheongsimwon just 清心丸 (that big gold colour ball we always see in Kdramas)? Does it even work?

I only imagine it as some sort of chocolate ball, like some sort of truffle but with a golden outer layer. 😅 I think it does have some bite to it, so maybe chocolate covered nuts instead of just a soft center? If Cheongsimwon is anything close to that, it probably works... but not for the symptoms they promote it helps with... maybe just making you feel a bit better inside.... Honestly though, I have no idea what it is aside from it being an old school "pill".

YM being the prince has plenty of authority and can orchestrate opportunities to to spend time with CG  - which he did. Since no one knows the exact features of the previous King ( which CG had to draw) , YM cleverly volunteered to explain it to her and uses this as an excuse to accompany her each night as she works on the King's portrait

I'm amazed by this. I wish my memory was as good as his. He is able to recall a painting he only saw once in his childhood. The guy that portrays YM is also the second lead in Drinking Solo (which I haven't finished btw). I like his character here much more.

Yes! I've watched the first episode! I'll be waiting for subs for this one so I'll probably be lagging a bit.

And in typical KBS style - there's always a hint of mystery / crime in all their rom-coms.

This caught me a bit off guard too! I was certainly not expecting a sudden shift in tone, especially with the lingering crime/mystery music. I wonder how much it will take up the show. I certainly hope it won't.

The different settings are nice. I particularly like the museum in Korea. The tree art piece that they were looking at was really striking, especially with the lighting. I'm assuming this is a real museum? The sign says "Cheongsong Museum of Art" but I'm not getting any hits in Google that looks similar. Real museum but they used a different name for the show maybe?

I'm curious about the shots from the Netherlands. The village they drove through on the way to the party felt fake/ cartoonish in the overhead drone shot. However, some places do look "fake" if you're unfamiliar with it, especially with some European places that get away with bright colors that I think you won't normally see in other places...? (Adding a question mark cause I actually don't know, just based on my experience and from what little I've actually seen of the world so far) The close up view though looked more real, so I'm assuming it is.

With the mansion though, I'm assuming that its CGI similar to what they did in Vincenzo. But then again, it might be one of those places that just looks fake on screen. I'm leaning towards CGI though. One day, we probably won't be able to tell the difference anymore. Only the experts or those with a very keen eye will know, just like Dali with that Modigliani painting.

Just want to add how much Korean shows impress me these days, not just in terms of CGI, but in terms of cinematography and writing. They have certainly caught up with - and at this point, even much better than - Western productions with supposedly higher budgets. I apologize for the rambling, but things like these are what I usually notice on the first episode of a show.

Anyway, enough of the setting. I like the main leads so far. Like other sentiments here, there's actually less bickering than I anticipated. The Cocky Prince certainly doesn't feel cocky at all so far - or at least not as cocky as what they make other rich characters to be. My favorite line is when Jin said that Dali shouldn't be responsible for what happened during the party. Certainly not what other entitled people would say. At least we he's not just all talk, he knows his stuff. Pigs aren't really a pleasant topic but Jin knows what his family's business runs on. I still don't know why that party host decides to display that painting together with all her special paintings when she's actually embarassed by it. 😆 Both characters are rich but not brats, which is kind of a breath of fresh air for me.

  6. I'm not sure anymore if the three professors are part of the gambling syndicate. If ever, I don't think it's Ms Choi since she's doing some personal investigation of her own.

I don't even know if the source that the person is in the University is reliable. Park Cheol Jin hasn't exactly regained my trust. I don't know what's keeping him from just spilling the beans. He has already given crucial information out, got stabbed and survived. Why not just do your best to help Dong Man? Blackmail aside, why does he think he's still safe if he stays quiet? 🙃

One thing I find funny is how straight forward people investigate in this show. 😅 They love asking the person they suspect directly, giving way too much information.

Anyway. I am enjoying SH and KH's moments... Even if it's at the expense of Min-kyu. Poor guy, writer really is not holding any punches to crush his heart. 😄 At least he's slowly becoming part of the gang now (?).

The bracelet thing reminded me of Doom at Your Service. Especially when they held hands to "recharge". Is that a Korean thing or is that really a Doom reference?

  7. Hi all! I've been meaning to watch this way back before it premiered but I was not able to find the time to. For the past couple of days I've been watching this in increments of maybe 20 mins or so. Just now, I finished ep 2. 😂 I know I'm a bit behind but I like the show so far. From the beginning, the show has been able to evoke in me some emotional response, which is a good sign. The story of the main characters and the people close to them are very tragic. That, plus the storytelling itself has proven effective for me. I felt sad when the show wanted me to feel sad, at awe when there was something amazing happening, and when the main leads met for the first time again as adults, I felt anxious yet elated. Not sure what it is they're doing right, but it's working for me so far.

Anyway. Just wanted to share. I haven't read the posts here yet but I hope you people in the future are having fun and the show is still holding up nicely. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to catch up but I'll definitely try.

But the story here is pretty simple. I guess the content plot-wise is not that much that’s why they have to reveal stuff like that slowly else there’s not much left to do for the remaining 10 episodes!

"Filler" parts for the latest episodes also took quite some air time. The individual songs in the contest felt like they were extended quite a bit. They weren't dragging, but I just felt that something else could have been shown.

In terms of the love triangle, we've yet to see how it'll go. By the looks of it, the love triangle won't be too hostile - or at least I hope it won't be. They did manage to convince us how DS and SH can get along. I hope they don't completely ruin it for the sake of moving the OTP's relationship forward.

    giphy.gif

If I'll take the first scene with the three of them together (FINALLY. After 6 episodes!) as some sort of metaphor, then HJ and SH will both be supporting DS. Whatever his dark secrets are that are slowly being revealed, these two will be his salvation.

Oohh I didn't put much thought on this until you mentioned it. Maybe it's already implied that it this is closest to be true since DS was already revealed to be getting some kind of therapy? The rumors are just blown-up/exaggerated. Who knows, maybe all of them are true to some extent. 😄

Can these two just continue to be friends? There's no need to make one of them a second lead.

Yes! 😄 Their dynamic is actually pretty interesting. They're showing us that those two are on pretty much level ground. They have a lot of things in common yet also have contrasting opinions on some things which shows they're on par intellectually.

In most shows I've seen, there's a clear difference between the love interests, be it personality, status, age/maturity, or a mix of those. Here, it's less defined for me (so far at least). Main difference that I can see is the 'perceived' level of success they have.

  10. I can't believe they sneaked in such a lovely scene in between two Subway ads. 😆 PPL completely lacked subtlety too. Unfortunately this scene had no build-up and because of that, had no real impact for me. Looking at it out of context, SH's hand reach looks pretty smooth.

    giphy.gif

It's funny how SH really does feel like a puppy. His actions, lines and expressions throughout the show just reinforces that he is a puppy, not only to KH, but to DM as well. Actually, maybe just in general and not towards a particular person. 😄 I laughed when he revealed that "Partner" was his answer in the exam for "the most important thing in an investigation". I thought it was a bit cheesy but sure, having a good partner that you can trust is important in this field.

Also, I felt the pain when SH bodyslammed DM on the PAVEMENT. Jeez. This ain't no superhero movie... that probably hurt! Does the proper Judo form and technique also make it less lethal? I'm assuming it does cause I also assume that most martial arts are designed to disable or immobilize rather than straight up kill someone.

I actually didn't like what SH was wearing... and yet they decided to have him wear it for the entire episode! (2 days straight in the timeline!) KH was able to have a change of clothes after they slept over, but the three boys had to stick with it. 😂

Viki subs is still messing me up. I actually finished ep 10 when there were still a lot of subs missing. Hopefully I understood the investigation properly just through context clues.

  14. I haven't watched too many shows starring Park Gyu Young but I've seen her here and there. Only one watched was Romance Is a Bonus Book and partially of Devil Judge (I didn't finish it - yet? Sorry) I've seen previews of some of her other shows though, and in Lee Seung Gi's "I Will" music video.

  15. Aahhh. Subs always take so long in Viki. 😪

At this point, I'm starting to care less about the investigation, or at least look forward to it much less. I'm finding DM and SH's actions and decisions a bit questionable. I don't know if I have just watched too many shows in my lifetime with some sort of crime related theme - be it the focus of the show or just incidental - but DM definitely needs to watch and learn from more shows 😆. I know they're fiction but they do kind of make sense.

I think it's the first time I've seen someone discover a bug/listening device and does totally opposite of what they usually do in TV shows. DM discovers the bug, signals SH to hush, but then he talks anyway. He even took the device out and talked about it openly (but okay, I think he disabled it first because it wasn't blinking anymore). Point is, I think what they'll usually do is to not let the person spying know that you've discovered the device. You can then do whatever strategy you want with the new information you've discovered. Then, DM also knows that no one in the university should be trusted, but then he asks the head (? I'm not sure what his actual title is) to do the forensics for him. WHY? 😂

Both DM and SH don't actually know how to be discreet and always show all their cards to people they should not trust the most.

With that aside, I am genuinely enjoying the romance between SH and KH. I'm so glad that KH decided to talk with SH about the relay race. She has also expressed her frustrations (kicking the trash can, shouting at SH) but at least she doesn't outright avoid him. If she left it up to KH to talk to her, I feel like we'll still be in the awkward not-talking-to-each-other phase until SH decides to man up, or something bad happens that will force SH to talk to KH.

    giphy.gif

What a relief that they decided not to drag this out.

The sleepover was also extra nice. It definitely felt fresh to me as I don't think I've seen it shown like this before. I was actually surprised that KH was okay with it in the first place. It felt pretty casual. No nagging or backlash from any of the parties, no one was intoxicated. They just had a simple, mature sleepover. I'm assuming that KH even wore SH's clothes? (probably, cause her extra clothes won't fit in her briefcase 😂

    giphy.gif

This looks so pure and sweet.

I found it funny that SH had to do some late night work for the investigation. Dad probably thought he sneaked out to sleep beside KH. 🤣🤣🤣 Which brings me to my favorite part/s of ep 7 and 8:

SH's obsession with USBs gave me a good laugh.

The last time I tried to do a compilation of a character's quirk was Ja-Sung's "Stop" in MMH. 😂 I immediately stopped after episode 1 and didn't even finish. There was too much. Also, I don't think watching someone say "stop" non-stop is something people will enjoy. 🤣
