  1. Ep14 takes us one step closer to understanding what actually transpired back in 1991, and why the ex-residents are targeted today. In 1991, the village was actually split in opinion. A good majority wanted to accept the relocation compensation, but did not say anything in the face of KJG's immovable stance to protect their hometown. Ultimately, the only ones who truly wanted to stay were Kim Sol and LSW's families, while the rest, including Officer Kim's father were merely paying lip service to KJG, as evident from the covert signals they gave each other during the meeting. From Kim Sol, we now know that in addition to his parents, LSW's father died too. As such, it would appear that some of the men including Kim Jin-deok and Officer Kim's father plotted to sabotage the village so that everyone would agree to leave. When Kim Sol and LSW's parents continued to hold out without backing down, they were attacked and killed to clear the way for the rest to receive compensation. With this in mind, it now makes sense why LSW was party to the killings, along with the only other person who was a victim in the 1991 incident, which can only be Kim Sol. As such, the killers working in tandem were the ones whose parents lost their lives back then. At the moment, all suspicions point to Officer Kim - from the SMS Kim Sol received to go to Black Bridge valley at 3PM, to him sending the herb collector back to the mountain in search of jangsaeng doraji broad bellflower herb. However, I believe these are all just red herrings. We know that Officer Kim keeps close tabs on the people in the town, as noted by his deputy. Just before Officer Kim went on patrol and met the herb collector, he was making notes (per C-subs) that the youngest child of the hardware store was hospitalised for chicken pox Grandpa Hwang's cultivator broke down Based on that context, it is very possible that he wanted to obtain the broad bellflower herb which is famed for its medicinal properties, in hopes it will help the hospitalised child, hence his purpose in approaching the herb collector covertly. Working with the theory that he is not the killer, I then believe that the reason he is looking at the 1991 migration list is because he too is noticing how so many of them have died. At the time that Kim Sol met KHJ in Black Bridge valley, Officer Kim was on his way to an aged care facility, where LYS's grandpa appears to be based on the preview. We know too that the lady hiker was suddenly hospitalised and thus not at the Black Bridge valley at the specified time. I now wonder if he too saw the pattern, and made arrangements to move those who were still alive to safer facilities so that the killer could not get to them? If so, his SMS to Kim Sol seems telling, that perhaps he too, has started to suspect the younger man of the killings, but is still protecting him as he used to when they were children, hence sweeping the incident with the van under the rug as an accident. If that were the case, who was attacked in the vision KHJ saw back in 2019? Was it the lady hiker? Does it then mean that the visions showed what could happen, but it is possible to actually avoid it if they managed to prevent it in time? Even if it were true, unfortunately, the killer is currently one step ahead of them. He knew that KHJ was on to him, but deftly misdirected him to Officer Kim instead, while finding out what KHJ knew. The blood-splattered phone in the vision was his in the first place, which led KHJ to mistakenly believe that he was the intended victim. Likewise, he overheard what KHJ told SYG about the attack in 2020, and adjusted his plans accordingly. It is only a matter of time before Officer Kim confronted him and I wonder if the bloodied hand in the preview is an outcome of that meeting. Mystery aside, my heart ached so much for them the moment they finally meet, one disabled, the other a spectre trapped on the mountain, her trying to grasp his hand, something that used to be second nature in their interactions, but no longer able to do so. Similarly, him following her all the way as she is carried out of the mountain, then continuing to stand at the bridge and see her off when he could no longer follow is painful to watch, while his realisation as to what it bodes for SYG being able to see him, and his subsequent desperation to warn her away, flatlining with the toll it took on his physical body, is heartbreaking. Being him physically pushed to the brink and SYG at risk, will any of them survive? I am afraid to think what KEH considers a healing drama...
  2. @ktcjdrama Thank you for sharing the soundtrack. One more to go... @Chocolate @ktcjdrama The sneak peek is definitely a shocking reveal... am actually really surprised they would actually show such a pertinent piece of information even before the episode airs. Still think it's either a red herring, or Officer Kim is working alongside my favourite suspect. Someone also noted on twitter how from Ep14 preview, the killer has a mole near the right ear similar to Kim Sol, which Officer Kim does not. Have anyone found differences between iQIYI English subs and C-subs? I initially thought that the missing items from the lost articles storage referred to those they retrieved from the river after the flood. However, based on C-subs, it appears to refer to the killer's trophies which were previously recovered from Black Bridge Valley Shelter: 沒有人拿了避難所裡的遺失物品。是兇手拿走的 No one took the lost items from the shelter. It was the killer who took them. Either way, Officer Kim would have access to the storage, so did he take the items?
  3. @ktcjdrama Thank you very much for the recommendations. Hospital Playlist is on my to-watch list, but Mistress sounds intriguing too. Looks like I'll be adding Dear My Friends to the list as well! No new BTSes thus far... wae? Am tempted to revisit a 2nd time round, and see if my reactions remain the same, especially in the early episodes. The problem of too many dramas, too little time!
  4. Ep14 sneak peek is out! SYG can see KHJ's spirit... does it mean she will be targeted again soon? And KHJ reveals the killer is Officer Kim. How? Why? Is he possibly Kim Sol's older sibling from Black Bridge village, and they are working in tandem? Or is he working alone, and Kim Sol is just a red herring? Yet his parents were clearly alive in 2002 during his graduation, unless he was adopted after 1991. If so, he should be one of the children in the photo from Back Bridge village - is he the oldest boy there? There is also prolonged focus to a handphone with a butterfly sticker which KHJ retrieved from the river. Based on the preview, an item from the lost articles storage went missing - was it this handphone? What is its significance? I don't recall seeing anyone use it so far...
  5. What a devastating episode to sit through... the tears that won't stop flowing as we watch tragedy after tragedy unfold - LYS swept away by the rapids, JGY's desperate attempts to locate her and his anguished cries when he was forcibly held back, the moment SYG's grandma closes her eyes in resignation as the van slides into the river. And it doesn't stop there. JGY's dazed look knowing that the search for LYS has been called off, SYG's grandma's disappointment that she did not even take a photo with her during her graduation before running off the Seoul, SYG's grief as she prepares the ritual table for grandma, JGY's silent tears from PIH's tribute to LYS who embodied the true spirit of a ranger.... shattered my heart, leaving me a sobbing mess. Then just when I have just barely recovered, JGY laying fresh posies on wilted ones at their picnic site, reminiscing about the woman he still cherishes, had me in tears once more. And the greatest tragedy is that those who perished in the van were never the intended victims, but simply at the wrong place at the wrong time, boarding the van that YGT should have been on. It is now confirmed that the killings are tied to Black Bridge village - all the residents who migrated and YGT whose cable car plans set off the series of tragedies that befell them. Migration list 1. Choi Il-man volunteer ranger (victim #6) 2. Lee Jong-gu volunteer ranger (victim #3) 3. Kim Jin-deok volunteer ranger (victim #4) 4. Kim Nam-sik ranger (son Sgt. Kim was victim #1) 5. Lee Jae-geun LYS's grandpa (LYS was attempted victim #7) 6. Seo Geum-ja (victim #2) 7. Granny Geum-rye (victim #5) 8. Heo Jin-ok lady hiker 9. Hwang Gil-yong volunteer ranger (attempted victim at Jeonmukgol) 10. Jang Hak-su volunteer ranger (died at Mujin valley) 11. Kim Seong-guk herb collector (attempted victim at Sumgol Rock?) 12. Choi Sang-gyeong (related to Choi Gi-yeong who died in Oerae valley Mar 2020?) 13. ?? Based on the migration list, as of Ep13 past and present timelines, we already know that 7 are dead while 2 had attempts on their lives. That leaves 3 more unaccounted for - the lady hiker, Kim Seong-guk and Choi Sang-gyeong. From the looks of it, the lady hiker will be next, since she has been lured to Black Bridge village at 3PM that same day. Will KHJ manage to save her in time? Also, from the preview and KHJ's visions, the herb collector who had cheated death thus far but saw KHJ's spirit again recently will be the next victim in the present timeline. The Choi Gi-yeong whom PIH mentioned had died in Oerae valley Mar 2020, should be related to Choi Sang-gyeong. In which case, the herb collector is, or is related to Kim Seong-guk. If my deductions are correct, we are left with only Kim Sol, who has already admitted that he was from Black Bridge village. Judging from the red backpack strap, KHJ's vision seems to indicate that Kim Sol is the one who will attack the lady hiker. He is also the one person outside of the core ranger team, who is seen wearing a watch, like the killer who planted the herb in KHJ's vision in present day. In addition, he was wearing similar dark pants to the killer the day the van was misdirected, all of which appear very damning for him. Still, in the preview, he continues to harp about the ghostly lights. Why? Still, I wonder why the list had a #13, but no name assigned to it. Is there one more person, who had some time or rather, deliberately removed his/her name to hide his origins? If so, could it be Officer Kim, who is seen behaving very suspiciously in the preview? Yet, he was the one who alerted KHJ to the misdirection of the van in the first place, so is he just another red herring? Like Signal, Ep13 is the most heartbreaking in Jirisan to date, and I am afraid that this is not the last of it. I now know too why Oh Jung-se was cast in the seemingly innocuous, lightweight role of JGY... his portrayal of JGY's range of emotions is nothing short of phenomenal. Standing ovation.
  6. @Tofu The BTSes were definitely what kept us sane when the drama characters drove us up the wall! And thanks to this drama, I am introduced to KHJ and SHB... and will definitely be checking out their works. Any recommendations? I just realised that the soundtrack CD will only be released complete with booklet, photocard and postcards on 20Dec2021. Definitely tempted if it includes the instrumental soundtracks which played in scenes such as when JHJ confesses her affair to AHS, GHW telling JHJ about her lost pregnancy. cr. kpopmart
  7. @ktcjdrama The first 20+mins truly showcases amazing performances from all, in particular KHJ, who was breathtaking in every scene. The one that stays with me the most is the scene by the car, first nervously tapping the boot, then screaming in anguish before finally cupping her mouth to muffle her sobs as she continues to slam the boot in despair. Standing ovation. The BTSes remain such a boon and it is wonderful to see how warm they are off screen. I hope that they will release more of Eps15-16 despite the drama having ended. Similarly, won't they please also give us the instrumental soundtrack, which complements each scene so perfectly?
  8. The casts bidding farewell to the drama. While their characters are often frustrating and infuriating, I would miss them now that the drama is over... And the BTS of the scene at the studio. Love how everyone was demonstrating to Kim Soo-ahn how to stab
  9. Recently released stills... KHJ is approaching Choi Il-man's wife... wonder if that is the reason he started investigating the 1991 events in Black Bridge valley?
  10. @Chocolate Thank you for the sneak peek! So KHJ was investigating into the Black Bridge village incident as well. Still, why so stingy with the 1991 details. Guess we'll have to watch Ep13 to find out more! Thank goodness it's Saturday morning Little Garden extended drama version MV: Memories studio live version
  11. The finale left me with a lot of mixed emotions, and I am still not quite sure if I have processed them through, but anyway, some very incoherent thoughts. It is tragic that it took being brought face to face with the real JHJ, shattered, devoid of lies and pretense, to finally empathise and sympathise with her, be it for us as viewers, or GHW herself. As such, it is telling that at long last, she laid herself bare, allowing GHW to see her at her most vulnerable, putting herself in the younger woman's hands. JHJ had always hidden behind a mask, afraid to let anyone see the real person inside, lying so effortlessly that it had become second nature to the point where we find it difficult to trust anything she says. That part of her has not changed - lying without hesitation to SWJ's face to protect her husband, later to her daughter to protect her from the consequences of her actions; continuing to spin a web of lies with GHW's help regarding her departure. GHW's words to AHS had a double meaning which he would have realised if he had bothered to look beyond face value, that the apparent truth were lies to cover up something even more painful. Still, were these lies actually kinder? Similarly, AHS' words to Dongmi reminds us why GHW suffered so terribly from their betrayal. To be abandoned without any word, left forever wondering why they were cast aside without being dignified with an explanation, is far worse than being told the reason for their departure. Thus I applaud his decision to stop looking for her and focus on the family who needs him, something I wish GHW had chosen to do instead of allowing herself to be driven to prolonged despair. Initially, I balked at GHW's complicity in JHJ's self-imposed exile, disappointed that in the end, she still took the chance for vengeance when offered to her. However, thinking back, I now believe that there could not have been any other option short of exposing Li-sa, and it was not malice that drove her decision. Had it been JHJ, I believe GHW would not have hesitated to hand over the bloodied pen over to the police and expose SWJ's murder, even if AHS would have lawyered up to get her absolved of any crime. However, because it was Li-sa who dealt the fatal blow, GHW could not bring herself to implicate the girl who was an innocent party from the start and should not have had to deal with the aftermath of her mother's wrongdoing. Ultimately, JHJ's torrent of promises, effectively ending the life she has had while providing a plausible explanation for SWJ's disappearance, was what convinced GHW - at last seeing the sincerity in her words, driven by a mother's desperate need to protect her child - an emotion she personally could understand. And thus, she finally could bring herself to forgive the older woman. Regardless, their judgment is flawed. While they have indeed protected Li-sa from the consequences of the crime, what does it mean to the child? Despite JHJ's repeated assurances, does Li-sa really believe SWJ survived? What of her self-harm tendencies? How does shipping her and Ho-su off to England help her heal, when her father is not by their side? We are not given the answers except that 3 years later, Li-sa appears to have found a new lease in life. The C-subs worded the arrangement regarding SWJ's works differently. Instead of GHW telling Dir. Lee to get rid of SWJ's works at the gallery, C-subs makes more sense - “艺廊的其他作品都由你处理吧 You may deal with his works at the gallery as you see fit." - more in keeping with a GHW who has finally moved on. There is no malice in her decision, no intent to destroy any traces of his existence, merely pragmatism in compensating the gallery through what works they had of his, knowing that he would never be able to complete what was left unfinished. Still, it is a poor epitaph for a man who had so much potential, but finally threw it all away over his obsession of a woman who no longer loved him. At the end of the day, it is a tale of redemption and forgiveness. We see it in GJY and her contrition towards the bar owner even when he never demanded it; in JSW whose unchanging remorse for his friend's death all these years finally enabled the mother to forgive him; in GHW, who finally finds redemption from the prison of hate she has encased herself, when she chooses to forgive at last, and a possible future with a good man who loves her; and in JHJ, who atoned by giving up everything she fought so hard to keep in order to protect her child. It is ironic that GHW herself came to realise that for all her outrage towards JHJ, she had been guilty of the same, having robbed LJY's father of everything even if it was out of genuine concern for the young girl who went on to have a better life because of her intervention, and she too, paid the price for her actions the day she was stabbed. The last scene brings us full circle, and ties back to JHJ's own certainty that she is so mired in sin that she could never be cleansed of it. Living in a prison of her own choosing, forever separated from everyone and everything she holds dear, it is her way to protect her daughter, as it is her penance wrought by guilt for those she had wronged - her husband, children, GHW and SWJ who lost all reason and ultimately his life. I believe she held out until she saw the posters of GHW's first solo exhibition, telling her that the woman she once eclipsed and trod upon carelessly, has reclaimed the life and passion that was hers. Li-sa's IG avatar with her smiling and holding a bouquet while surrounded by her family appears to be a post-performance photo, indicating that she, as well as the rest of the family, too have found healing and moved on in her mother's absence. Hence JHJ's words "It is not hell just yet", as her loved ones have not died in her stead, and her life can finally end. How poetic then that at the brink, we see her initial bewilderment at the symbolic chiming of the bell by the lake, followed by the dawning hope that perhaps she has been granted absolution at last, allowing her to forgive herself as she too is now forgiven. And that brought me to tears. How fitting that the drama ended with an episode that boasts so many exceptional performances from the entire cast. In particular, KHJ's phenomenal depiction of JHJ's full range of emotions - desperation, terror, forcibly restrained emotions, wretchedness, breakdown, bereft of hope, emptiness and ultimately, disbelief giving way to gradual realisation, unaccustomed to the sliver of light that finally shines in her existence once more - is a tour de force that buoyed me along with her frenzy and pain, leaving me in tears. Similarly, AHS' devastated sobs in the car had me tearing up with him, as did GHW's anguished cries which she finally allowed herself to express. Truly a brilliant production, paired with spectacular cinematography and haunting, gorgeous soundtracks that enhances the ambiance of the entire drama, and one that I will revisit again.
  12. @Tofu Thank you very much for your kind words Yes, that should be JHJ's blood-splattered beige coat that was being incinerated in the fireplace. As for missing Ep16 due to lunch commitments, you could always suggest that they play it over lunch. The downside is that if it does go south, you might end up losing your appetite, putting all that lovely food to waste @abs-oluteM It is really unfortunate to see his character spiral downwards to the point of no redemption after his Ireland trip. Will we ever know what it was he wanted to tell GHW when he called her to apologise years ago? He was already nasty and obsessed then, as seen from his confrontation with AHS at the Irish Pub just before his accident. Thank you for sharing Ep16 sneak peek. No idea what they said, but JHJ appears to be finally looking at her husband with sincere regret for taking him for granted and betraying him thus. Ep16, please come quickly.
  13. @ktcjdrama You're right. The likelihood that Li-sa was the one who delivered the fatal blow is high, in which case, it just makes it worse - her own daughter's life destroyed, another victim of the whole sordid affair. Is that what it takes for JHJ to truly repent at last?
  14. @ktcjdrama Thank you very much for your kind words regarding my ramblings I am with you too in wondering if AMS ensured her husband will not be able to threaten her anymore. Her insistence in treating it a self-accident even when JHJ confessed that she failed to grab hold of him when he fell is suspicious. Is she trying to protect him from being outed as the despicable man that he really is, or is she shielding the woman who reached out and tried to help her break free from her abuse? I don't really know. Suffice to say LHG can no longer harm her in his current state, which is the best arrangement she can have, short of him dying. Based on the ring on her left hand, it seems pretty certain that JHJ was the one who cleaned up the blood and burnt her blood-splattered beige coat. The question is who actually killed SWJ - was it Li-sa or herself? Incidentally, I feel that all the security guards in the gated community should be fired for allowing any Tom, Dick or Harry (or in this case, Woo-jae and Hae-won) to waltz in and out as they please!
  15. She signed the divorce papers! That is the pinnacle of the entire episode for me, when at last, she makes the conscious decision to walk away from the toxicity that she has allowed herself to drown in for far too long. I was afraid she would never bring herself to do it, especially after her last words to SWJ about divorce, and her subsequently ending up in ER. However, the hints were already peppered throughout the episode... her noting to AHS that choosing to forgive is to free oneself which both of them have not yet done; her insightful words to the mother of JSW's friend that her son would not have wanted him to suffer forever; seeing LJY thrive in school and clearly leading a happy life with them; her own assurances to JSW that the incident with the sleeping pills was not intentional. How apt that the scene when she prepares to move out of the apartment is well lit, perfectly matched by her light-coloured attire, symbolising the darkness that has lifted from her life. What was the turning point? I think it is a cumulation of factors - the wise counsel from the bar owner, taking over responsibility for LJY even before it was ever made legal, JSW's compassion and empathy, the dawning realisation that she matters in the eyes of so many others, regardless of how unworthy JHJ and SWJ had made her feel through their betrayal. And her decision not to alight the bus is a hint that perhaps there might be some hope of a future together for them, at least as close friends if not more, though I do not know if it will still be possible after all that is going down with JHJ. How the tables have turned. Where GHW was once treated with contempt as a wreck and hurtling towards self-destruction in her obsession to make them understand what they did to her, it is ironic that when she decides to let go, they are the ones who are finally getting a taste of their own medicine, with JHJ's fears that her husband might have cheated on her with GHW, and SWJ pathetically clinging to a woman who no longer wants anything to do with him. Not too long ago, SWJ was callously telling GHW that it was better to be lonely by oneself than to be miserable together - sound advice that he should be taking himself now as he spirals out of control. As for JHJ, the perfect life she has built for herself is crumbling down around her, and her lies are at risk of being exposed. She clearly has not changed yet, manipulating the dashcam footage to get rid of the inconvenience that is now SWJ. Will she finally come to her senses only when everything she deems important is destroyed, including her daughter who is herself clearly in need of help, and whom I really hope will get it before it is too late. When it comes down to it, I am glad AMS did not forget her oath as a physician despite how despicable her husband is. I too love the way she is finally standing up to her mother, throwing back at her the hurtful words the older woman once berated her with. The older woman's bewilderment is telling, having long forgotten what she had said in the past without caring how it affects the other party. In that moment, did JHJ herself come to realise the reason GHW found it so difficult to move on, because her pain forced her to remember their betrayal clearly, long after they themselves have pushed it to the back of their minds? @ktcjdrama I don't think it was GHW who cleaned up the blood. That person was wearing a wedding ring similar to JHJ's, and wore a dark coat over a white dress. GHW was wearing a black blouse under her coat. Another scene showed the same person wearing the same wedding ring burning the beige coat that JHJ had been wearing in the portable fireplace. So it has to be JHJ. The question is who killed SWJ. Could it have been Li-sa? She was desperate for her father not to know about her mother's affair. I don't think GHW was anywhere near the studio - she was outside the gated area at the time. 2 satisfying episodes in a row. Please let this trend continue all the way to the end.
  16. @abs-oluteM @Tofu Yay! We survived! Whether we (or our hair and monitors) would still be in one piece by the end of tomorrow remains to be seen BTS of KJY filming for the Ireland scenes domestically. I was wondering previously why there was a blue screen during the filming, so now that mystery is solved. Glad to see that they took safety measures with the harness attached to him while he stood at the edge of the cliff. Another BTS with little Hosu during the book reading with GHW...
  17. BTSes that are supposed to cheer us up, including throwing nasty lawyer Lee off the railings. Poor fellow, being stuck halfway and having to put in more action than he anticipated
  18. @Tofu I too hope for the sake of my hair and my screen that it leaves us with a satisfactory conclusion, or at least enough happy BTSes for us to dive into so that we can regain whatever sanity we have lost!
  19. The MV for OST Part 8 "Little Garden" is released.
  20. Ep12 dispels some preconceived notions while throwing red herrings in the form of the black-gloved hiker at Baektogol, introducing potential new suspects and reinforcing suspicions on existing ones. From YGT's fervent protests, it appears that the one who contaminated the well at Black Bridge Valley, attacked Kim Sol's mother and very possibly father, was not YGT after all. Nor is it ex-chief Kim who was still accusing YGT of the crimes in 2019. With the suspect pool shrunk drastically, who else have we met so far that is old enough to have been the perpetrator? I am also stumped for reasons why the person would have started the attacks, unless he too stood to gain from the demolition of Black Bridge village. Apart from LYS' grandfather (based solely on age), my suspicions now find a new target in the apparently innocuous driver who helped SYG's grandmother bring food to the rangers, simply because we have some unusually lingering shots of him when there is no reason for it. Grasping at straws much? It is possible that LYS was an intended victim all along, not someone LSW added independently, and whatever has befallen her was no accident but a targeted attack from the killer, this time hooded with his trademark black gloves. Then again, the preview shows the killer wearing a ranger uniform and directing the bus SYG's grandma is on, which then appears to be headed towards danger. If so, was the intended victim SYG's grandma, not LYS after all? That would explain why SYG left after that incident, being unable to face the mountain which has claimed yet another of her loved ones. However, how did the killer know her grandma was on the bus when she came via van, unless he saw her? By the same token, if the intended victim was LYS, I would like to know how the killer knew where LYS was, to have been able to go after her the way he did. Was it through the ranger walkie-talkie, which would all be tuned to the same channel? Either way, evidence appears damning for my favourite suspect, being the only person who was not involved in the search and rescue efforts and unaccounted for at the temporary control station. If Ep13 preview is to be believed, the killer was wearing a ranger uniform at the time, something we've seen Kim Sol wear often enough throughout the drama. Is KHJ now re-evaluating his theory that the killings are tied to the 1995 Dowon valley floods after learning from the hiker that the volunteer rangers did not have a falling out? I am still unconvinced it has to do with the floods, especially since Kim Sol is once again the most likely suspect. Nonetheless, SYG's grandma being a victim would fit in with those related to the ones who perished in the 1995 floods. Was LYS then related to the elderly couple who died? I am glad that the narrative took the time to bring us through SYG's inner torment with regards to her parents, allowing us insight into her pain. Crushed for so long by the guilt that her parents might have chosen to die after being financially compromised so that she could benefit from their insurance, the mountain finally brought healing both to SYG and the hiker at Baektogol who himself found the will to live after remembering the words of her father. And I teared up along with her as she confessed her pent-up fears to KHJ, finding closure at long last, and reaching a turning point in her own life. The last mystery I want solved. What kind of paper is the lottery ticket printed on, to be able to survive such harsh terrain and elements over such a long period of time! Whatever it is, I can definitely make a killing selling it!
  21. Joo Ji Hoon Comforts Jun Ji Hyun As She Suffers From Personal Struggles In “Jirisan” DRAMA PREVIEW Nov 28, 2021 by U. Kim Jun Ji Hyun will have a hard time during a rescue mission due to a resurfacing trauma in tvN’s “Jirisan.” Penned by “Kingdom” writer Kim Eun Hee, “Jirisan” is a mystery drama starring Jun Ji Hyun as Seo Yi Kang, a top ranger at Mount Jiri National Park, and Joo Ji Hoon as her rookie partner Kang Hyun Jo, who is hiding a supernatural secret. Together, the two rangers begin to uncover the truth behind mysterious accidents that occur on the mountain. Spoilers The previous episode saw the rangers warning the mountain’s visitors about local downpours that are hard to forecast. In the ending, all of the sirens on the mountain went off and signaled the arrival of heavy rain. The rangers are now tasked with bringing the visitors safely back to the bottom of the mountain. In new stills, Seo Yi Kang and Kang Hyun Jo give off a somewhat different air from usual. Carrying heavy rescue equipment in their backpacks, the two have headed out into the pouring rain to rescue the visitors. The rangers take refuge in a cave, with the normally strong-willed Seo Yi Kang sitting on the ground helplessly and even showing tears. It turns out that the heavy downpour is reminding her of the flood at a stream that took her parents’ lives. Thankfully, she has her partner Kang Hyun Jo by her side. Seeming to understand her feelings, he softly pats her on the shoulder. The production team of “Jirisan” explained, “If the previous episodes showed the national park rangers’ burning sense of duty through the story of wildfires, we will be dealing with water-related disasters that often happen in the summer. Viewers will get to see the meaningful story of how rangers have carried out rescue missions during the real water-related disasters that many have heard of.” cr. Soompi
  22. An episode that answers one question and prompts so many more. Based on KHJ's findings thus far, the victims are linked to the 1995 Dowon Valley flood. The 3 volunteer rangers were evacuated from the floods along with 3 students and Capt. Jo. We also finally understand Sgt. Kim's ties to Mt. Jiri, being the son of the ranger who lost his life in Mujin station at the time, along with SYG's parents and an elderly couple. Assuming the killings were linked to the flood, it does not explain why victims and evacuees were targeted. Not does it account for Seo Geum-ja, Granny Geum-rye or LYS, unless they were somehow related to either the students who survived, or the elderly couple who perished. Currently, I am still more inclined to believe the killings stemmed from the 1991 Black Bridge Valley incident, but I can't see any link between the deceased ranger KNS and that incident, though he certainly could have been old enough to potentially be the 1991 perpetrator, being 35 at the time. The elderly couple Lee Hyun-sik and Jeong Mi-ja left a final message for their children Won-sik and Won-jae. So far, with the exception of LYS and volunteer ranger Lee Jong-gu, there is no one else by the surname of very common surname of Lee. Is LYS related to this couple somehow? Also, if indeed the Dowon Valley flood is the root cause, then it would mean SYG and Capt. Jo could very well be on the list of victims. We know that KHJ was the killer's intended victim. I wonder whether he meant to kill SYG as well when he found her in the cave after attacking KHJ, and was only foiled when he heard the rangers calling her name? Was the trekking pole then meant as a trap for KHJ only, seeing he was the one who went up the mountains first, only to be followed by her later. SYG's internal monologue is heartbreaking, now that KHJ's condition has deteriorated to the point where it is only a matter of time before his family pulls the plug - her intensified desperation to catch the killer in hopes that his spirit will be free to return; and the aching hope that if she died in the process, she would be able to see him and hear what he had not finished saying, tell him what she had not been able to say. A telling insight into her state of mind who only go to all lengths, if only to see him once more. In present day, SYG and PIH are clearly suspicious of JGY, who was on the mountains the day LDW went missing. Interestingly. Kim Sol was the one who gave SYG the idea that anyone who was a ranger could have easily taken Capt. Jo's gloves. If he was the killer, is his intention really to clear Capt. Jo's name and throw suspicion on another ranger? If so, why plant the gloves in the first place? Is it to temporarily incarcerate Capt. Jo who is clearly on his trail, yet not willing to do him actual harm? We are definitely seeing far more of Kim Sol, be it in the past or present day. I do not know whether there is any significance in Gwigam Rock at the temple where he met SYG, and if his leading question was referring to her parents' demise during the 1995 flood. Am I over-thinking it? While on the topic of SYG's parents, I also don't understand why they refused to leave a message for her when everyone else did. There was clearly some disagreement between her and her father, presumably just before the flood, but I can't believe that they would deliberately leave her bereaved without a final word. So what exactly happened? Would SYG finally be able to find a message they left behind, which had been overlooked earlier? Lastly, who is the mysterious hiker at Baektogol and what is his purpose there? Was he the one grinning sinisterly at the lottery girl (Choi Heewon, according to Asianwiki) in the Ep12 preview? Speaking of the lottery girl, are we really to believe that she might have found the ticket still intact despite being exposed to the elements for months prior? From the same preview, I am also very afraid that tomorrow we will see LYS, who is not as physically fit as the rest of the rangers, perish in the 2019 flood. Unfortunately, we are still no closer to knowing anything about the bears or the 1991 killer. Perhaps KEH will be kind enough to answer it tomorrow, @Chocolate? However, as of now, SYG and PIH have joined you in giving JGY the evil eye, while nobody in present day or the past appears to be suspecting Kim Sol yet... gah!
  23. @Chocolate For all we know, your favourite suspect and mine might be in cahorts! Or or... JGY might be lying about his age, and is actually the 1991 killer with bear-charming powers!
  24. Sighting of my favourite suspect among the photos from Ep11! Jun Ji Hyun Searches For The Murderer In Her Midst On “Jirisan” DRAMA PREVIEW Nov 27, 2021 by E. Cha tvN’s “Jirisan” has shared a sneak peek of its upcoming episode! Penned by “Kingdom” writer Kim Eun Hee, “Jirisan” is a mystery drama starring Jun Ji Hyun as Seo Yi Kang, a top ranger at Mount Jiri National Park, and Joo Ji Hoon as her rookie partner Kang Hyun Jo, who is hiding a supernatural secret. Together, the two rangers begin to uncover the truth behind mysterious accidents that occur on the mountain. Spoilers In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, Seo Yi Kang has a tense meeting with Jo Dae Jin (played by Sung Dong Il), who is locked up in a holding cell at the police station. While Jo Dae Jin once seemed more trustworthy than anyone as the rangers’ dependable leader, he unexpectedly became the prime suspect in Lee Da Won (Go Min Si)’s murder after it came to light that they crossed paths shortly before her death. On the previous episode of “Jirisan,” Seo Yi Kang exploded at Jo Dae Jin as she asked him if he was also responsible for what happened to Kang Hyun Jo. In the new photos, Seo Yi Kang’s eyes remain cold as she gazes frostily at Jo Dae Jin, raising the question of whether the two longtime colleagues will be able to rebuild the shattered trust between them. Meanwhile, other photos capture the now grave atmosphere at the rangers’ headquarters, with Jung Goo Young (Oh Jung Se), Park Il Hae (Jo Han Chul), and Seo Yi Kang sitting together in uncomfortable silence. At the end of the latest episode of “Jirisan,” viewers were shocked to learn that Kim Sol (Lee Ga Seob) was actually the son of the late mayor of Black Bridge Village. Although it was always clear that Kim Sol knew a great deal about the mountain, nothing about the character had suggested that he had such a tragic past. In a final photo from the upcoming episode, Kim Sol approaches Seo Yi Kang with a stiff expression, while the ranger looks warily up at him. cr. Soompi
  25. @Chocolate Thank you for the sneak peek. Looks like PIH is in Capt. Jo's confidence. Wonder why he never confided in JGY... did he suspect him, or did not want to burden him after a potential incident that befell LYS? Thank goodness it's Saturday
