  1. The 2nd part of Jun Jihyun's interview... describing the challenges of filming Jirisan. It's ironic how she described filming at the production set being tougher than outdoors.
  2. Ep14 is satisfying because I see redemptive qualities, if not redemption after an endless cycle of self-destructive behaviour week after week. JHJ's compassion compelling her to seek out the clearly antagonistic AMS because she discerns the signs of abuse, having been on the receiving end herself in her own life, goes a long way to show us the loving sister JSW knew and loved is not quite gone yet. At the time, LHG had not tried to coerce her cooperation yet, so she clearly had nothing to gain, and her actions are out of a sincere wish to see her sister-in-law break free from the cycle of abuse, which warmed me to her far more than anything else we have seen from her. I wonder though whether AMS would save her husband in keeping with her vows as a doctor, or take the opportunity to free herself from him for good. What a relief to see LJY nipping her own malicious attacks on Li-sa in the bud, being receptive to GHW's advice, and I believe that she will be able to sidestep the path of bitterness and move towards a happy future. On the other hand, Li-sa's downward spiral now escalating to self-mutilation is a desperate cry for help, which I really hope someone, if not her own self-absorbed parents, will notice before it is too late. GHW's gradual steps out of the hell she had been determined to stay in, is such a welcome sight, the most telling of which is in the sound advice she gave LJY, which echoes so much of her own life, and which I pray she is finally taking for herself as well. I wish she would have more warm moments such as the quiet companionship with JSW over kimbap; enjoying popsicles with her mother and LJY; having a bittersweet cocktail at the bar. More and more, we are seeing the kind of person she once was before grief and anger blinded her - sensitive, warm and compassionate - and I truly root for her to finally rise up and reclaim the life that she deserves. Still, she continues to upload photos of SWJ and JHJ on a private Instagram account, but thus far, it is not shared to anyone so I have to wonder what the purpose of that account is. In addition, what was she doing with a clearly intoxicated AHS at the end of the episode? Please don't show us she has relapsed and gone down her vengeful path once more. At last, someone recognises, acknowledges and validates the pain GHW had gone through instead of trivialising and mocking it, and I am so glad for her that there is one more person who truly cares for her. It is telling how JHJ balked when JSW urged her to sincerely apologise to GHW for how she wronged the younger woman. Her repeated apologies were never out of true contrition, but simply because she was forced to, or worse still, out of contempt that GHW could not move on. Yet, had she ever cared to know why GHW could not let go of her rage? I truly need to see her and SWJ finally confronted by what their selfish, thoughtless actions had cost those who love them. There are hints that the bar owner's wife might have lost money from land recommended by GJY. If so, is he back for vengeance as well? Whatever his original intentions were, I don't believe he harbours any enmity towards them any more. Please let him remain one of the very few decent characters in the drama. I was struck by what GHW said to LJY about removing the post because it was not true. I think therein lies the difference between her and JHJ. All her attacks against the older woman had always been based on facts even if they were timed for maximum effect, which contrasted starkly with JHJ's methods - always cloaked in deceit, whether it be covering up her affair, trying to pass Hosu off as AHS' when she herself wasn't sure of the boy's parentage, framing GHW for the shattered vase to get her fired, or deliberately getting SWJ caught on the dashcam forcing himself on her. She is now trying to ship her brother overseas, and I have to wonder what her reason is. Is it to distance him from GHW whom she knows approached him because of her, or to keep those she believes to be rightfully hers, as hers alone, since he is clearly concerned for the younger woman? As for SWJ, I have nothing to say about this callous, obsessive man except everyone is better off without him. The preview finally helps to understand why GHW was as broken as she was, her relationship with SWJ being far more than just on paper, which made the betrayal that much more damaging (kudos to all who figured out earlier on that she was pregnant when he left!). Previews are often misleading, but I now am beginning to wonder if the one who ended up in a lake was not him after all. If so, good riddance to bad rubbish. My hopes went up for a moment during this scene, when I thought we'll see SWJ get run over again and put us out of our collective misery
  3. @Chocolate It must be the inner masochist in us! It is a gorgeously shot drama though with excellent performances (even if they set my teeth on edge most of the time) and amazing soundtrack. Oh, and the trick is to watch the BTSes to relieve all the frustration from the drama proper!
  4. @abs-oluteM I really wish we would see it. Though I then think of the bag JHJ disposed of, and I am afraid that in the end, GHW is the one who does not survive. Still, I think of what JHJ said then "To me, hell is watching my loved one die for me. So I'm not in hell yet." At this juncture, the narrative seems to be veering towards JHJ being fought over by the two men, and GHW becoming more of an afterthought. If so, and SWJ still survives Ep14, could it be that JHJ ends up killing her jealous husband or lover? Incidentally, the photo of nasty lawyer LHG suddenly makes me think that he's the one we see in the preview, falling off the ledge (blue coat). Certainly her attire is the same and the colour of his outfit matches. Yay? Teared up when GHW was reading the book to Hosu - the mention of grandfather's empty chair, and the heart placed in the bottle when the pain became too much. Her fervent apologies to little Hosu indicative that she is not as unaffected as she makes herself out to be. Can we hope that she is slowly but surely moving towards the light at the end of the tunnel?
  5. Someone should have pushed SWJ off the Cliffs of Moher way back when, which would have saved me and everyone else in the drama a whole lot of grief. That's it. Ep14 please. Okay - one more thing. Am I the only one who hopes that GHW and JSW will find a confidante in each other, be able to gain healing from the oppressive lives that they have been living?
  6. @SnowBlob At the moment, I am inclined to think there are two sets of killers. The first are very likely Kim Sol and until recently LSW, who are killing off those who were related to the Black Bridge village incident. The second is the mysterious 1991 perpetrator who attacked Kim Sol's mother and very likely murdered his father and made it look like a suicide. If indeed the current killer is Kim Sol, he could be going after the 1991 killer, whom he might have caught sight of when his father was killed. I don't get the impression KHJ was more corporeal after LDW's death... we could still see through him even then. Unless we actually see her in present day, I don't believe LYS survived. LSW's initial list only had 6 names, but he added hers just before leaving for her house with the yoghurt drink, after the mastermind told him to "finish what he needed to do". In that case, it would appear LYS was one of the original intended victims as well. What could have made her a target? Was her grandpa also one of the residents of Black Bridge village? If so, why target her who rarely goes up the mountain, and not grandpa who still lays snake traps there? I have no idea so far. JGY and PIH are supposed to be around the same age as SYG (she was 36 in 2019). As such, they were still children and are no way involved in the 1991 incident. The list of suspects still fall on the older characters... ex-chief Kim, LYS' grandpa. Ex-chief Kim definitely knows the back of the mountain well enough to be able to pull it off, but I still hesitate to pin him as the 1991 perpetrator because of his obvious passion for the mountain, and his belief in saving people's lives, which goes against everything the perpetrator did to Kim Sol's parents. Just my 2 cents.
  7. @abs-oluteM I cannot imagine how the drama could be seen as romanticising the affair unless they are referring to the lingering shots of JHJ and SWJ at their love nest against the backdrop of such gorgeous scenery in Ireland (it definitely makes me want to visit the Cliffs of Moher myself!). However, I agree with you that there is nothing in the drama that advocates the affair. If anything, it shows just how destructive an affair can be and how far-reaching the consequences - for those involved, those who love them and the ones they love.
  8. More BTSes to set us in the right frame of mind going into this week's episodes. Such a boon to see how sweet the children are in real life, and how warm and happy the set is. It's hilarious to see KHJ and CWY still enjoying the meal after the shoot
  9. Ep8 wrung my tears dry in so many different ways. SHK shattered my heart as he brought us through LDS' devastation, his dawning comprehension that KMJ was still alive when he was at the house, just below his feet as he searched high and low for her. Then the scene at the crematorium, when one by one, all broke down at the cruel fate that left a young girl they've watched grow up and cared for, lying there at the hands of the person who should have been her safe harbour and protector. The grief of the bereaved families, Jae-I in particular, when the remains of their loved ones are finally unearthed, is difficult to watch - the crushing realisation that her mother had been nearby all along, and she never once knew. And LDS staring at the excavated ground at his home in mute despair, no closure in sight, even now, is heartbreaking. In the midst of so much outrage and pain, it is so satisfying to see the camaraderie between the two mismatched partners, the evolving relationship from antagonism to grudging understanding and well-oiled teamwork, as they work together beautifully like a tag team to wear the crafty KJM down. The moment HJW rushes to LDS upon knowing that none of the recovered remains belonged to his sister, offering to go beat KJM together and get him to cough up her location is a turning point in their relationship. Despite his repeated declarations about being eager to arrest LDS, it is now clear that he has come to care for the older man, and is in one of those clingy relationships that he so fervently despises, which is as sweet as it is amusing, given their history. Please don't shatter it in the next half of the drama. I originally thought that KJM's fetish with fingers appears linked to painted or decorated nails - BJS and LYY's painted nails, LGH and KMJ's decorated ones - all of which he associated with wanton behaviour. Yet if I understood correctly, it originated with YHM's pointed mockery of him, and his killing urges triggered by BJS' relentless insults with the same accusatory actions. Hence his cutting off their fingers is so that they could no longer point their fingers at him and mock him. If so, why did he kill Jae-I's mother, who was not seen doing anything except wear the hair-clip given by her husband on the 49th day of his death? Or did he go on to associate any woman who dolled themselves up as acting in a wanton manner? Still, KJM is adamant that he returned LYY, and that he didn't kill her. If so, who did and left her fingers at their home? How would that person know KJM's MO of the cutting of fingers, when BJS and LYY were the first cases? Suspicion now falls on PJJ once more, who asserts that he killed a deer, hears women's voices and had a mental breakdown and was institutionalised 20 years ago. Could it really be so obvious? Or was KJM toying with them to the last to fracture the trust between the friends, and by killing himself, ensures that there will be no light at the end of the tunnel? We shall see.
  10. 7 episodes in and what a gripping tale so far with twists and turns, underpinned by so much pain just below the surface. Secrets abound even among the close friends, and yet there is so much history that is shared among them - friendship, loyalty, trust - that is difficult to shake even in the most damning of circumstances. The same can be said for the Manyang police substation, and one of the most awesome scenes that has me fist-pumping and chortling away is when they ganged up against the nosy reporter on HJW's behalf, because he is one of them. SHK delivers such a brilliant portrayal of LDS... keeping him mysterious and ambiguous, with flashes of pain and devastation that he manages to hide most of the time. Even before we know his backstory, he manages to elicit sympathy despite the sometimes bizarre and damning actions, allowing us a glimpse into the hell he has lived through the past 20 years, the grief behind the crooked, cavalier grin. Is it to SHK's credit that even in the early episodes, with very little information given and we are shown LDS placing KMJ's fingers outside her father's store, LDS was never a real suspect in my eyes? I don't know, except that I cannot explain why I felt that way. By the same token, KJM was always a potential suspect in the back of my mind even before anything concrete was revealed, him being one of them who we see in the church in the beginning where LYY was playing the church organ. Nothing he did felt out of place then, so I can't explain why I suspect him, but I did, and was proven right. HJW starts off as being such an uptight, unlikeable character and it took me quite some time before I finally thawed a little towards him. I think I have not felt so much kneejerk hostility towards any character in a while, not even from the all-round awful characters of Reflection of You, and I was literally egging (pun not intended... I think!) Jae-I on when she started pelting him with eggs, cheering when she slammed the last few on his back, even offering to sponsor more cartons of eggs if she ran out His almost fanatical conviction of LDS' guilt was frustrating to watch as he latched on to every suspicious detail and ran with it with no regard to the consequences, and it did not help when we find out that it stemmed from his own guilt for the death of LGH. As such, there is so much to celebrate in the involuntary chipping away of his prejudices, whether he realises it or not - joining in the brawl with LDS against Chairman Lee's goons, and that last awesome scene when he chooses to believe LDS and catch KJM in the act. The writing is exceptional so far, very tightly paced, alternating between reveals and misdirections, bolstered by strong strong performances across the board. Red herrings are aplenty, keeping me guessing, trying to discern what is real and what isn't. The last 15mins of Ep7 kept me at the edge of my seat, barely able to watch, terrified for and upset at Jae-I when she chooses to go to the site KJM directed alone, certain that it couldn't end well. To go through that and watch that final scene is the highlight of the drama for me thus far - our two partners working together to catch KJM red-handed, while ensuring that Jae-I is safe with the arrival of PJJ and the rest of the police squad. Brilliant. Still, I can hardly believe this is it. KJM's capture not even halfway through the drama feels premature, and I fear that proving his guilt cannot be that easy. Are there other secrets among the group of friends that are waiting to be uncovered? Either way, can't wait to find out. Thank you so much @Chocolate and @ktcjdrama for encouraging me to give this drama a go!
  11. @Chocolate I didn't realise they counted down to BTSes as well. Thought it was only for the MVs. Watching today's BTS is bittersweet, seeing LDW's death scene. Guess we won't be seeing any additional scenes of hers, unless it is in flashbacks leading up to her death...
  12. @ktcjdrama Looks like we're all in agreement. So guess we'll be playing spot the (1991) killer going forward. Who would be know the area so well except a ranger? Do we know who found Kim Sol's mother? Was it him? Capt. Jo did not see her despite passing by the tree multiple times, so was she moved there just before her discovery by her attacker, or is this the work of otherworldly elements? Something else puzzles me. By all intents and purposes, with the death of Kim Sol's father, Black Bridge village should have been demolished. If so, how is it YGT's cable car plans did not materialise, and he had to try again 28 years later? Questions questions. Thank you for the affirmation regarding Voice 4 and Beyond Evil. Looks like I'll be busy with so many killers to catch... so much evil to eradicate.. aish! Yes, I did watch Nobody Knows, but it did not draw me in as much as I liked - CYJ and KEH's bond was the highlight in my opinion. However, the villains fell flat for me and never really exuded the threat that I should have felt.
  13. @Chocolate Oh dear, please don't remind me that it's ending soon! If it delivers up to the end, chances are high that I will revisit it again - usually find it difficult to move on from a drama that I love. Please let me want to rewatch! Teared up all over again during the scene LDW was found which my mum was watching. It makes me afraid that this is just the beginning, and KEH will break our hearts even more before we get to the healing that she promised. Silent Sea has not been on my radar. Should I give it a try? A lot of abandoned dramas which I have not resumed. Was thinking of completing Voice 3 which I just started a while back, and move on to Voice 4. Also tempted by Beyond Evil, which I've heard good things. Nothing concrete yet. The official MV of "In Color" has been released. I wish we were given official MVs for "Memories" and "Falling" as well...
  14. @Chocolate I knew KEH won't let us off that easily! Having pretty much indicated who the killer is, she is now giving us more to ponder in the long, long wait to Saturday But certainly, I believe there are supernatural elements at play in Black Bridge village... the question is, are the elements hostile? Capt. Jo's inability to find Kim Sol's mother in time seems to indicate it... yet the lights themselves also led SYG and KHJ to find the missing hiker who had not even been reported. Questions questions
  15. @ktcjdrama Good point about the villagers possibly accepting compensation in return for moving out of the village, especially from YGT, which would explain Kim Sol's antagonism towards them. You're right - it is highly likely that the black gloves we saw in 1991 was just a red herring. Do you think that Kim Sol's father was killed, rather than committed suicide, since he and his son were the last one standing between the demolition of the village, with everyone else having moved out? If so, is it too convenient to have YGT die so soon? Or is our killer from present day also hunting the killer from 1991, whose face he might have caught sight of when his father was killed? If so, who could the killer be? I am stumped with the choice of characters who are around that age, not convinced that ex-chief Kim could have anything to do with it. Who else then? LYS' grandpa? I'm grasping at straws here. @Chocolate I love what you wrote here. That scene is such a moving one to watch, working together seamlessly under Capt. Jo's supervision which kept them and their victim safe. The bond among the team is also reinforced with JGY's meeting with the potential MIL, and how SYG secretly helped him gain points with the bouquet and the "best ranger of the month" claim. As such, it hurts to think that the team is now fractured, with so much underlying bitterness and suspicions between them. Perhaps the healing that KEH promised will come when the team is reunited once more with all hostility laid aside and KHJ recovered, reclaiming the camaraderie that was once theirs. Incidentally, PIH is still alive in present day as we will see from Ep11 preview. His well-slicked back hair does seem to hint that he might have taken the desk job at headquarters in the end after all. It is a relief to see at least one more of the team clearly still alive, but unfortunately also reinforces the possibility that LYS did not survive. My favourite line from the entire episode. "他们是去守护大山了。真正的山神 The real mountain guardians are going up to protect the mountain." What an apt description and tribute to the men and women who use their own physical bodies to shield others from harm without the slightest hesitation.
  16. @abs-oluteM Thank you for your clarification. Of the lot, GHW is the one who persists in being cryptic... and to date, I am still not fully clear what she does and doesn't know. Far more than the rest of the characters, her backstory intrigues me the most since we know so little, which I hope the last 4 episodes will reveal. I am so sorry to hear that that KJY was in an acting slump until now. Hope that this will be the start of more interesting, diverse works to come. You're right. Everything centres around the two women, though they revolve around SWJ, one time or another. Still, it would be great to see more of his own backstory explained, an additional facet that is more than just an irresponsible coward. This drama is one of the most generous in terms of BTSes - 20+ to date excluding the teasers and press conferences. It is very therapeutic to watch the BTSes after all the pent-up frustration from the drama, seeing how much laughter goes on behind the scenes especially among those whose characters are outright antagonistic. Please keep them coming, which will definitely help in maintaining our sanity to the end!
  17. At last, the identity of the killer is finally revealed, and his motivations as well as his bond with Capt. Jo going way back explained. What began as yet another inexplicable flashback, this time back to 1991 in the mysterious Black Bridge village makes sense as the narrative in the distant past and present converge to bring us one step closer to the tragic truth. We now know that most of the original victims were related to Black Bridge village in one way or another - YGT and the former villagers. Everything started from YGT's cable car plans which involved the relocation of the village that met with the fervent opposition of the mayor KJG, Kim Sol's father. YGT's concerted harassment of the villagers, including contaminating their wells, resulted in the attack and subsequent death of Kim Sol's mother, and the migration of the villagers to other villages. Bereft of his wife and abandoned by his fellow villagers, KJG ultimately took his own life, leaving his young son all alone. The following are the identity of the victims that we know of so far: 1. Sgt. Kim Hyeon-su (local, link unknown) 2. Seo Geum-ja (link unknown) 3. Lee Jong-gu (Haedong Village volunteer ranger) 4. Kim Jin-deok (Haedong Village volunteer ranger) 5. Granny Geum-rye (former Black Bridge villager) 6. Choi Il-man (Haedong Village volunteer ranger) 7. Lee Yang-sun (local, link unknown) 8. Kang Hyun-jo (closing in on the killer(s) ) 9. Yang Geun-tak (president of Mt. Jiri cable car promotion committee) 10. Mr. Jang, herb collector, died in Mujin valley (Jang Hak-su, former Black Bridge villager, Haedong Village volunteer ranger?) 11. Gi-yeong, herb collector, died in Oerae valley (link unknown) 12. Mr. Hwang, herb collector, almost died in Jeonmukgol (Hwang Gil-yong, Haedong Village volunteer ranger?) Apart from YGT, we now realise that several of the Haedong Village Volunteer rangers from 1995 were among the victims in LSW's list and seen in KHJ's visions (Lee Jong-gu, Kim Jin-deok, Choi Il-man), while at least one - Jang Hak-su - was definitely from Black Bridge village. While not explicitly explained, back in Ep8, the herb collector rattled off a list of men who had seen KHJ's spirit and either died or almost lost their lives, among whom are a Mr. Jang (Jang Hak-su?) who died in Mujin valley, and a Mr Hwang (Hwang Gil-yong?) who nearly died when his rope snapped in Jeonmukgol. This indicates that the rest of the targeted victims among the volunteer rangers were very likely former Black Bridge villagers who moved to Haedong village too. Certainly, Granny Geum-rye is now confirmed to have originated from the village. As such, it stands to reason that they were targeted because Kim Sol considers their migration from the village as an act of betrayal which led to his father's death. The remaining 2 of LSW's original list of victims are not accounted for yet. Sgt. Kim was also a local but clearly too young to have been one of the villagers, unless he was marked because his family came from there? The other victim is a woman named Seo Geum-ja. I don't believe we have been introduced to her thus far. Was she one of the villagers as well? Kim Sol's bond with Capt. Jo goes back at least 28 years, from the time YGT started harassing the village in an effort to force them to move, and clear the way for his cable car plans. Capt. Jo clearly carries a lot of guilt for failing to find the younger man's mother in time to save her, which he believes is the precursor to KJY's suicide, leaving the boy bereft of family and home. Had he been caring for the boy all these years? Is he in the know of Kim Sol's plans from the start, or did he find out when the killings began, piecing together the truth from the identity of the victims? Whatever it may be, it explains why Capt. Jo is protective of the killer, trying to foil his plans without exposing his identity to the authorities. However, does Kim Sol feel the same way? For the moment, the victims appear to be those who directly or otherwise, brought about the Black Bridge village tragedy. However, the fact remains that Capt. Jo and ex-chief Kim promised to protect the village, but failed to stop the tragic events from unfolding. In particular, little Kim Sol himself heard Capt. Jo's self-recriminations that his mother might have survived had they been able to find her sooner. As such, I cannot help but wonder whether Capt. Jo and ex-chief Kim will ultimately also be targeted for their failure to keep their promise? While unexpected to see the identity and motivations revealed so soon with 6 more episodes to go, not everything has been explained just yet. What is the origin of the ghostly lights that were seen? Kim Sol himself related that the lights were a precursor to calamity in the village, and way back in 1991 when the lights first appeared, there were no bears on the mountain. However, it was because of those lights that the villagers started moving away. The lights that cornered SYG and KHJ do appear to be from the moon bears. If so, was YGT responsible for the lights in the past by somehow transporting bears to the area? Or are the lights supernatural, considering the hallucinatory effects of the place, and how Kim Sol's mother failed to be found despite Capt. Jo going past the tree multiple times. Another question is the identity of the hiker who almost died. She obviously knew Kim Sol's father from the prayers she offered up to him in the temple. In addition, she was not killed like the others, but brought to Black Bridge Valley shelter. Why? I don't believe we have seen the last of her just yet. Also, what was the chain that KHJ saw in the shelter? Was it part of a dog tag that belonged to Sgt Kim? If so, it could have triggered his suspicions towards Kim Sol, since the rest of the items in the shelter appear to also be trophies from previous killings. In addition, was LYS' name really chosen independently by LSW, or one of the original intended victims? If it is the latter, it would explain her absence in 2020 and JGY's total change in character, having lost the woman he love. Last but certainly not least, who was the gloved person who attacked Kim Sol's mother? Was it YGT or someone else? if it is someone we are already introduced to, the most likely person based on age is ex-chief Kim but I am not convinced it's him, seeing the clear hostility between him and YGT. The narrative has stepped up another notch. With KHJ very likely suspicious if not already aware of the killer's identity, I can't wait to see how they face off each other, leading to the fateful attack in Black Bridge valley. And from Ep11 preview, do we finally get to see KHJ regain consciousness? Is it Saturday already?
  18. @Chocolate You're fixated on JGY while I've pinned Kim Sol as the big bad. Knowing KEH, in the end, we'll find that either a) Capt. Jo was one of the killers all along, as KEH has already told us again and again, or b) it was SYG's grandma who is killer / secret shaman all rolled into one after all
  19. @Chocolate Very interesting, compelling point about JGY's hand mannerisms. And yet, I still can't believe it is him, exactly because there is no way he could have set fire to the warehouse when he was at the time, over in Bidam shelter, recuperating with the rest of the team after the fire-fighting. Also, how could he have approved of making LYS a victim, unless LSW was operating independently in terms of victim choices? This drama is making us suspect anyone that flickers an eyelid... gah! As for the shaman being hired by the killer to keep spirits bound on the mountain, I wonder whether that is meant to be an official (and massively spoilery) translation. If so, it doesn't explain KHJ appearing to be the only one wondering all over Mt. Jiri, and having visions of the killings. But if indeed it is true, does it then mean we will get to see our baby ranger again going forward? I miss her already... OST Part 7 "Our Road" has been released. Can't place it in the drama... any ideas?
  20. I have a question. We know that GHW is suffering from fibromyalgia, which leaves her in pain throughout her body. I don't recall anywhere that says that she had a miscarriage when SWJ disappeared on her in 2014. Can anyone tell me which episode does it say so? I may be wrong but it would appear that GHW's original intent had always been to get a sincerely contrite apology from JHJ, truly acknowledging and repenting of the pain she inflicted upon the younger woman rather than just because she was coerced to due to the looming threat to her perfect life. This finally changed when grandpa died waiting for SWJ who failed to show up, after which GHW destroyed all bridges of reconciliation through the symbolic burning of the green coat. Is her plan henceforth to push JHJ to the brink so that the older woman would finally retaliate by killing her, thus putting an end to her wretched life and effectively sealing JHJ's fate. While JHJ could potentially still recover from the aftermath of an exposed affair and illegitimate son, she could never escape the consequences of murder. Is that the reason why she knows she would not outlive her mother, nor give her mother a grandchild? I must wonder... is the betrayal harder coming from JHJ or SWJ? The affair initiated from him, and he made the choice to leave her without any warning or explanation, so by all intents and purposes, his irresponsibility and cowardice is the root of her pain. Not for the first time, I wish she could somehow pull herself from this destructive downward spiral before it is too late, but unless a miracle happens, I don't think there will be any last minute reprieve, based on what we've seen from the start of the drama. This is my first KHJ drama, and can I just say how beautifully nuanced her performance is, and how much I love the timbre of her voice. Similarly, this is the first of SHB's works I've watched, and she truly showcases the contrast between GHW before and after the betrayal, the loss of the inner light that used to shine from her entire being. As for KJY, I really enjoyed his Sunwoo in Secret Boutique, but for now, I feel that he hasn't had much to do except look broody and confused. It doesn't help that his character is so unlikeable unless he surprises me at the last minute by making redemptive choices, which I see no sign of for now. The music is a real gem, both the songs and instrumental tracks... the moodiness very much in keeping with the overall ambiance of the drama. Production wise, it is an excellent piece of work, well paced, gorgeously shot, which truly goes a long way to keep me watching even when I find so little to like from the actual characters itself. And that in itself is an achievement.
  21. @ktcjdrama @Chocolate If it were really the daughter, I don't think it was to make her father less dedicated to his job, but to defile the very place her father gave his life to protect and prioritised over his own family. Another thought occurred to me. What if Capt. Jo's gloves were not planted by the killer, but by Capt Jo himself? When LDW was pushed off the cliff, she was holding nothing in her left hand, yet Capt. Jo's gloves were grasped in her left hand when her body was found. There are two possibilities. The killer could have planted it to frame Capt. Jo, though how could it have been retrieved from him since he was wearing them, unless he had multiple similar gloves, one of which was taken by the killer. That would explain why Capt. Jo's eyes widened when he saw the bagged gloves. The other scenario is that Capt Jo found LDW's body, and planted his gloves to divert suspicion away from the killer on to himself. If it were the 1st scenario, the daughter as a suspect could still work due to her vindictiveness towards her father. If it were the 2nd, it is very likely he was trying to protect his daughter from being apprehended. Speculations speculations.
  22. @Chocolate Thank you for sharing the Ep10 sneak peek. Seeing JGY studying hard for the National Competency Standards qualifications might explain why he was troubled when LYS brought up the meeting with her mother, worried he might be judged due to his lack of qualifications. @ktcjdrama The dripping blood does seem excessive, unless we are given to believe that LDW's head was that badly bashed in due to the fall. There are some speculations that perhaps the killer might be Capt. Jo's yet unseen daughter, which might explain why he is protecting the killer. If so, could it be the lottery girl who had been appearing in random places in the past? And is the purpose for the killings to get back at the mountain which had effectively broken up their family because of her father's dedication to his work? Speculations speculations.
  23. Watching this after Ep9 just breaks my heart even more... Watch: Go Min Si Is Adorably Impressed By The Attention To Detail During Tour Of “Jirisan” Set TV/FILM Nov 20, 2021 by C. Hong tvN shared a special tour of the set of the drama “Jirisan”! Written by Kim Eun Hee, “Jirisan” is a mystery drama starring Jun Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon as rangers at Mount Jiri National Park who uncover the truth behind mysterious accidents on the mountain. Go Min Si plays Lee Da Won, a newbie mountain ranger who joined in 2020 and looks up to Seo Yi Kang (Jun Ji Hyun) as her role model. In the video, Go Min Si gives a tour of the following sets: the past and present Haedong Ranger Station, the present-day hospital, and the Bidam Shelter from the past. (The drama skips back and forth between late 2020 and 2018-2019.) Go Min Si gets excited at seeing the tapes in the video room set and says, “This is where Yi Kang sunbae trusted me with an important request. She gave me cameras to set up on the mountain too.” On the Haedong Ranger Station office set, she points out Jung Goo Young (Oh Jung Se)’s seat and says, “This is a good spot for him, as he can observe whether his juniors are hard at work or not.” Just like her character, Go Min Si fangirls over Seo Yi Kang’s seat and says, “It’s an honor to be able to sit beside her.” In the Haedong Ranger control room set, she points out the attention to detail such as the display boards containing information on wind speed, precipitation amount, and more. She explains, “This is where really serious discussions happen, like, ‘A terrible thing is happening on the mountain!'” She takes the center spot and pretends to answer the phone, although her character is too junior to ever do that on the show. She says sheepishly, “I always wanted to do that.” She also takes viewers behind-the-scenes a little as she points out that the hospital set is just across the hall from the Haedong Ranger Station set, allowing the cast and crew to move seamlessly between the sets. For the tour, Go Min Si visits the sets of the past Haedong Ranger Station and Bidam Shelter for the first time, as her character does not join the national park service until 2020. She says, “I think that when we filmed on Mount Jiri in Jeolla Province, the ranger station really looked like this!” Taking a look at the inside, she comments, “The station has gone through a lot of development.” She adds, “Somehow, this space makes my heart ache.” Her attention is caught by the fireproof clothes and exclaims, “I want to wear this too! I want to film while running through the flames too! Director, please let Da Won do that too!” Go Min Si is equally impressed by the realism and attention to detail of the Bidam Shelter, including scratches that tourists would make by carving their names and dates into the wood, the food shelves with prices labeled, and the retro-style phones and calculators. 24. OST Part 6 "Stay" is released. Do the lyrics mean that KHJ does not survive?
  25. @ktcjdrama I really liked her character too, and was hoping she would stay alive longer. It is pretty much certain Capt Jo didn't push her. His gloves had a red lining and he was wearing the blue ranger uniform, unlike the person who was gloved while pushing her and wearing black. What I don't understand is the purpose of removing her handphone from her body and placing it at a different location. Was the original recording of the conversation longer, including the real killer, and was cropped, and the Capt. Jo's gloves planted to implicate him instead? No idea yet...
