  1. @Nohamahmoud2002 Please accept my deepest condolences to you and your loved ones for your loss. Please take care and may you find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
  2. @abs-oluteM I am truly sorry for the passing of your husband which I only just found out now. Please accept my deepest condolences to you, your son and loved ones for your loss. Praying that all of you will find strength and comfort during this very difficult time. Please take care...
  3. Thank you so much for recommending this @Chocolate! It's been a very hectic time so I have not been watching anything of late, but I will definitely check it out hopefully sometime soon, while keeping fingers and toes crossed waiting for her next work to air.
  4. @LaLa @ktcjdrama Yes I'm still watching too, though the high drama with the grandma and momvelies started wearing me down. Am still persevering... don't know why I thought it was a 12-episoder, so imagine my surprise when we hit Ep12 with no end in sight yet. @ktcjdrama After The Veil, I learnt not to trust that a character listed as a main role will actually stay around until the end. Still cannot get over SSY's exit 5eps in But yes, unfortunately, Park Hye-ryeong is back. Wondering whether she will end up with a redeeming arc. I may be mistaken but I get the feeling that this drama is more inclined to give everyone a 2nd chance, even the nastiest ones. And while I dislike her, I really feel sorry for Min-gi if his family breaks up even more than it already has.
  5. @UnniSara @SilverMoonTea Definitely, by all intents and purposes, BKH is the most likely suspect based on the evidence. What I actually meant was that from his devastated reaction when his appeal for a retrial was rejected, I was afraid that he would had killed himself before they could exonerate him, an event which could have been used as a plot device to drive SHY even more to stop such tragedies from happening again. Hence my relief when we finally see him alive and well at his stall later. @SilverMoonTea Thank you so much for sharing the interview with Kwon Il-yong. Truly chilling and horrific... knowing that these are cases that actually happened. It takes someone of strong mettle and faith to be able to work through such horror and be able to walk away from it mentally and emotionally intact. Truly deserving of respect. I do see how Cho Kang-moo is adapted from Jeong Nam-kyu, based on how he was arrested and his diminutive stature, and there is also the reference to interviews with Yoo Yong-chul (upon whom it would appear Yang Yong-chul is based). It doesn't quite describe what led to the actual establishment of the Criminal Behavioral Analysis Team though.
  6. My very first Kim Namgil drama, so I did not quite know what to expect going in, but am very pleasantly surprised. Love the genre, love the execution and the performances - gritty, haunting, with no over the top theatrics. There is a stillness about SHY that is disquieting yet paradoxically calming to watch, instilling a inexplicable sense of confidence that he will not be foiled and the truth will be revealed in the end. He is by no means infallible, but his dogged tenacity, his extraordinary powers of observation and incredible empathy makes him a sympathetic protagonist despite the lack of overt emotion that he expresses. I truly appreciate the attention to his little quirks as well - the diabetes-inducing 2 cubes of sugar in that tiny cup of coffee, his obvious love for sugary snacks, as well as his camaraderie with KYS who deeply respects and affirms his abilities at a time when he is considered an odd duck among his peers. The buildup to the formation of the Behavioral Analysis team is seamlessly woven into the controversy of SHY's consultation of a criminal amid the outcry over coerced confession leading to the BKH's wrongful incarceration. Well done. Does anyone know how closely this follows the actual setting up of such a team in South Korea? I must admit though while never really doubting that SHY would snare the Red Cap killer, I was terribly afraid for a long time that BKH might be exonerated too late and have killed himself by then, especially when his request for a retrial was rejected yet again while CKM was brought from one crime scene to another to recreate his actions. Thus it was with great relief when SHY visits his stall again, and there is a tacit exchange of gratitude and acknowledgment which reaffirms the rightness of SHY's decisions. Now to mentally prepare myself for the horror of the 2nd case, which includes dismemberment of a child.
  7. @abs-oluteM Thank you for the shoutout. The premise sounds interesting (reminds me a little of 2020 drama 失踪人口 Missing Persons), and the drama itself bite-size, so will definitely give it a go. 8 eps aired so far, so it's not that long a wait. Don't really know the cast apart from 白敬亭 Bai Jingting, though I do note the guest performances from Liu Tao and Liu Yijun, so looking forward to starting it. 周深 Zhou Shen is almost a staple in every Cdrama these days... and I am truly happy for him, having rooted for him since the early days of his career. He is a breathtaking singer, very versatile, unafraid to challenge new grounds, and as @ktcjdrama mentioned, a very witty person, perfect fit in variety shows as well.
  8. @ktcjdrama Oh dear, it does really look like we're the only ones watching! The plot evolves very fast, and I really like that there isn't any excessive dragging out of conflicts and obstacles. Was very surprised that the Park Hye-ryeong arc appears to be over by Ep8 based on Ji-hoo's voiceover and I think the last 4 episodes will focus on the confrontation with the grandmother. Park Hye-ryeong is a nasty character determined to maintain her image and status even if she had to break the law to do it. Thankfully, her ignominious end set a new precedent whereby school management are now less inclined to cave in to the Momvelies' obnoxious demands, which is a turn for the better. Still, it appears that Ji-hoo's grandmother will soon have the Momvelies at her beck and call, so we shall see how that pans out. I seriously doubt Joo Kyung-il will turn out to be anyone sinister, after everything we have seen of him. He reminds me a little of Han Sang-joon in Mistress, so I think his backstory might turn out to be similar. He does appear to be well-connected among the police and prosecutors. Is he investigating shading dealings related to Congressman Hwang and the community here? Not sure yet how the insurance and investigation documents he was shredding are related unless he was wrongfully accused of possible fraud with regards to his wife's insurance. Like you, I love the song the children sang, a letter to their parents, each taking turns in the spotlight. Truly beautiful. Overall, the story is enjoyable without taking itself too seriously, though it sometimes does veer into slapstick territory. Hope it continues to be good to the end.
  9. @Chocolate Yes, the flooding is due to the fact that there were live plants. As long as there was living organism in contact with the lunar water, it would continue to multiply.
  10. @mademoiselle Yes, I do think that the original Luna might have been her daughter. If so, it is horrific that as a mother, she could bear to see a clone looking exactly like her own dead child - dying over and over again so that her goal of replenishing the earth's water would come true.
  11. Congratulations to The Veil and Moebius:The Veil for reaping 5 awards! Am particularly thrilled for Jung Moon-seong for winning Best Actor in Short Drama award - very well deserved. While I am disappointed that Park Ha-sun and Jung Moon-Seong didn't win Best Couple, it is a testament to their chemistry as SSY and CCW in Moebius:The Veil that they were nominated. Well done all!
  12. I actually binged all 8 episodes in one sitting early this week. While it took time to set the stage, I enjoyed it pretty much, and was often kept at the edge of my seat, peeking from between my fingers in some scenes. Overall an ambitious project that delivers on a whole... I can believe that they are really stranded in a mysterious station where danger lurks, be it from the elements or the more human presence. The open end does not quite explain the fate of the survivors, particularly Luna, nor the change in situation on Earth - is Dir. Choi checked as a result of this outcome? Also, we see the photo of what appears to be the original Luna from whom the rest were cloned on Dir. Choi's desk - what happened to her, and what was her relationship with Dir. Choi? All this leaves an open door for S2, though I would be fine too if this serves as its conclusion. I spoke too soon. Another BTS released.
  13. BTS... hopefully they will release more, though recalling the dearth of BTSes for Kingdom, I am not very hopeful...
  14. Looks like iQIYI is finding it difficult to move on too...
  15. Jirisan's OST special album has been released, including 23 instrumental tracks! While the tracks don't appear to be comprehensive, what is available brings back a lot of memories... 그곳에 오르면 (track 13) immediately takes me back to Ep1 with Ryu Seung-ryong's narration, while Dark Forest (track 16) is reminiscent of Black Bridge village and all the tragedies that happened there. 그 해 우리는 사랑을 했다 (track 19) evokes memories of Ep5 with Yi-gang's first love and when she became a ranger. Pain (track 23) first played during Choi Il-man's funeral, and I see Yi-gang and Hyun-jo in Bidam shelter Christmas 2018 all over again through 그때에 우린 (track 34). Miss them...
  16. OST Part 3 Bluebird is out. Can't wait for Ep3!
  17. "!'m Coming Home" official MV is out! And I still can't move on...
  18. Really enjoyed the 1st 2 episodes, with a good combination of comedy and heartwarming moments, explaining the backstories briskly so that by the end of it, we are all set for the next chapter of the narrative - with WJH in the know what his sister and nephew endured be it at the hands of the in-laws, or the elitist parents and children of the residential complex. The preview shows WJH geared up to rally support for himself to be elected the Blue Bird, which apparently carries a lot of clout in the community. I love too that every single snobbish family has skeletons in the closet, which is played to amusingly ominous effect. Thus far, the show does not take itself seriously, hence the moments that do deliver that much more impact - imagining himself shielding his sister's eyes as she shielded the younger him from the painful harsh reality, and sneak-taking the photo of his newborn nephew. Suffice to say I am loving what we are given so far, and look forward to more. The official MVs for the first two OSTs, both of which are sung by Chu Sangmin... OJS does an excellent job lip-syncing to Chu Sangmin's singing Part 1 - On the Beach Part 2 - Be Your Side. Love this one!
  19. English subbed final farewells by the main cast...
  20. @ktcjdrama Oh, it was mentioned in Ep4 ~16min mark. The nurse at ICU asked SYG if she was keeping up with her rehab training when SYG called to enquire about KHJ's condition. Ahh...the curse of the post gobbler! That happened to me several times before... the last was in the Cold Case S3 thread when I lost everything I rambled about from Eps5-10, right @SnowBlob? Aww... you should have resumed the post after that I did watch Mistress for OJS... such a total departure from JGY! Will definitely give When the Camellia Blooms another go... and perhaps It's Okay Not to be Okay later... since he won Best Supporting Actor for both dramas.
  21. @Chocolate @SnowBlob The 5 children were Kim Sol, Officer Kim, LSW, Sgt. Kim and LYS. Come to think of it, all the children died - 3 killed by Kim Sol alone. As for LYS' mother, Kim Sol and LSW could only target those who lived in the vicinity and went up to the mountains so that the deaths could be disguised as accidents. LYS's parents did not live there - her mother only came for the Mountain Spirit ritual at the time. Hence, they could not be targeted. Similarly, LYS' grandpa who was in the aged care facility, and Heo Jin-ok who was hospitalised were out of their reach too. Mr. Hwang was lucky - he managed to stay alive to the end after narrowing escaping death previously.
  22. @SnowBlob @Chocolate Yes, LYS was the only girl among the 5 children in the photo from Black Bridge village. Kim Sol was targeting the entire family - from the original head of the families who migrated, to their children and grandchildren. Granny Geum-rye's son (the Mr Jang whom I initially confused with Jang Hak-su the herb collector) was also killed even though he was actually studying in the city in 1991. As such, LYS being on LSW's list was not a fluke, just temporarily crossed out when Kim Sol decided to focus on KHJ first. cr. Asianwiki So the moment he poisoned Sgt. Kim and got away with it, he had already determined that every single member of the family would also have to die. @Chocolate Good point about LSW's phone. It might have been dropped in the mountain when he was killed, and was swept by the flood on to the riverbank afterwards. Just my 2 cents. @SnowBlob
  23. @SnowBlob Yes, LYS's death was an accident. However, even if she had survived, Kim Sol would have targeted her again in the future. @ktcjdrama Same here. Things just got really busy this week when it's supposed to wind down! I wish we had longer scenes with all the characters after Kim Sol's death, but as a summary, it explained very succinctly what happened with them so it doesn't feel jarring. Read a tweet by a doctor that apparently it is possible for SYG to recover within a year since she has been undergoing rehabilitation at the time. Similarly, according to her, she has also seen victims of TBI (traumatic brain injury) recover within that time period as well. But taking into consideration the supernatural framework of the drama, and the fact that KHJ's spirit was freed to return to his physical body after accomplishing what was tasked by the mountain, perhaps it is thus that he could also make extraordinary recovery. It's a fantasy drama after all. Eps15-16 English subbed BTS is finally out! Finding it hard to move on... gah.
  24. They really worked long and hard on this drama... Joo Jihoon in particular appears very emotionally attached to it. And yes @Chocolate, that last scene was really shot at Cheonwangbong peak. I now understand the easter egg between OJS and LSB! Am guessing the scene she referred to is in Missing Nine? Watch: “Jirisan” Cast Bid Farewell To The Drama + Cast And Crew Climb The Mountain At Sunrise For Final Filming TV/FILM Dec 14, 2021 by C. Hong tvN has shared the last behind-the-scenes video from the drama “Jirisan,” as well as closing comments from the cast. Written by Kim Eun Hee (“Signal,” “Kingdom”), “Jirisan” is a mystery drama about rangers at Mount Jiri National Park who uncover the truth behind mysterious accidents on the mountain. In one video, the key rangers of the show, played by Jun Ji Hyun, Joo Ji Hoon, Sung Dong Il, Oh Jung Se, and Jo Han Chul, shared their closing comments on the drama. Jun Ji Hyun said, “As for my closing comments… I really can’t believe it. In one way, it was such a long filming process that I often wondered when it would end. Our first filming for ‘Jirisan’ really took place on Mount Jiri. Back then, just like now, the forest was green. We saw the leaves fall and the winter pass by, and filming is now coming to an end as the trees are turning green again. It was challenging, and fun, and we made more memories compared to other dramas. I am grateful to the staff and I want to congratulate myself as well on finishing such a memorable project.” Oh Jung Se said, “We’re wrapping up on 10 months of filming ‘Jirisan.’ It’s a relief that the cast and crew finished filming safely without any major accidents. I had fun on set thanks to the director and his brilliant work. I wasn’t very familiar with mountains, but as I filmed, it felt like the mountain was speaking to me, telling me to rest, embracing me. There were so many places where I was awestruck by the view. Personally, I had a lot of interesting experiences. Thank you for showing your support and love for the drama.” Sung Dong Il said, “I realized anew that there are many amazing places in Korea. All four seasons appear in our drama. We started in the heat of summer, filmed scenes in drifts of snow, and created a story that went beyond imagination.” He joked, “While filming this drama called ‘Jirisan’… I came to hate mountains. The staff had to do so much work! They had to lug all that gear up to the top of the mountain. I think that probably a lot of the staff hate mountains now too. But the drama is fun! To the viewers, please continue to show your love and support for us so that the actors, director, writer, and production staff can take heart until the end. Thank you.” Jo Han Chul said, “For ‘Jirisan,’ we went all over the country and spent a lot of time together like a family. It’s a relief to think that our long filming process was rewarded by the results of our work. I worked with director Lee Eung Bok for the first time on this drama. I’d always looked forward to working with him someday, but it happened sooner than I thought, so I was happy. Thank you for making such a happy set. I hope that the beautiful Mount Jiri will remain in people’s hearts for a long time thanks to ‘Jirisan.'” Joo Ji Hoon said, “If you include the time I spent talking with the writer, before we’d started filming, I’d been preparing and working on ‘Jirisan’ for over a year and six months. Of all the projects I’ve ever done, this one is the longest. We went all over the country and shared our joys and sorrows with each other and the staff. This drama is 16 episodes, and there are times when I watch the director and editors put together the results over their shoulders, and I remember each and every scene. Where we filmed, around what time, and what I felt during the scene. It’s fascinating. We worked really hard to bring the story to life, and I’m curious to see whether that will show onscreen. The drama also unveiled the behind-the-scenes video from the filming of episodes 15 and 16. This includes Lee Sun Bin’s cameo as Joo Ji Hoon’s little sister. Lee Sun Bin appears on set to film her short conversation with Jun Ji Hyun’s character and reveals that her first kiss scene as an actor was with Oh Jung Se. Jun Ji Hyun reacts with playful horror and says, “What? Really?” She then gives her “advice” as a senior actor, joking, “You can’t do stuff like that.” In one scene filmed on the mountain, Sung Dong Il and Jun Ji Hyun battle swarms of mosquitoes to get the right shot. Another scene appears in the drama to take place on a dangerous mountain road with landslides, but the behind-the-scenes video reveals that to ensure the safety of the cast and crew, the car was on set surrounded by rain machines and screens and the production staff moved the car with their own strength to imitate the shaking and sharp turns of the mountain road. The video concludes with the final scene from the drama: the hikers who climb to the top of the mountain to watch the first sunrise of the new year and the rangers who keep the hikers from getting too close to the dangerous edge. This scene was actually filmed on the mountain and all the cast and crew had to hike up with their gear with head lamps to make their way in the dark. After filming wraps up, the cast and crew take a photo together at Cheonwangbong Peak. cr. Soompi
