Will 2PM’s Lee Junho come to Lee Se Young’s rescue in MBC’s “The Red Sleeve”?

“The Red Sleeve” is a historical drama about the imperial romance between crown prince Yi San (played by Lee Junho), who later becomes emperor, and the strong-willed court lady Seong Deok Im (played by Lee Se Young).

    SPOILER

    Spoiler

On the previous episode of the drama, Yi San confessed his love to Seong Deok Im. However, she refused to accept his feelings because she wanted to stay as a court lady rather than become his concubine. Yi San’s heart broke even more when he assumed Seong Deok Im and her biological brother Seong Shik (Yang Byung Yeol) were lovers. As a result, viewers are paying keen attention to what direction their romance will take.

Newly released stills capture Seong Deok Im on her knees at the the queen’s quarters. Seong Deok Im’s eyes are full of desperation and urgency, but Queen Jeongsun (Jang Hee Jin) remains coldly silent. Furthermore, Yi an appears at the quarters. He stands politely before the queen, but his expression is stony as he says something. How will Yi San’s appearance affect Seong Deok Im’s fate?

    • Day 4 |  Actor / actress you glad to see in 2021: Jung Woo in Mad For Each Other. There were a few candidates to really think about like Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu JunYeol in Lost, Ayase Haruka in Tengoku to Jigoku and Lee Junho for The Red Sleeve Cuff. Bu compared to Ayase Haruka who I have not seen in 3 years, or both Jeon Doyeon and Ryu Jeonyeol who I saw last 5 years ago, and Junho who I expected not to see for 2 years due to his compulsory conscription. Jung Woo, I have not see for 8 years since Reply 1994. I was so glad he is back for Mad For Each Other, and it was quirky and fun. and another drama coming soon

the initial episodes was really something I did not expect, I really started this thinking we are gonna have either he melodrama saguek or the old style saguek. But episode 2 really blew me away with the comedic scenes especially the one where DI was falling and San just literally shove her back to a stack of books. that was epic and iconic...

The splashes of angst and melodrama have been littered from episode 1-7 but too few to really take root..

But I think as we hit the half way mark, they will probably switch it up or some kind, to increase the ante and tensions. I think the angst and melo will probably be more prominent now. and if they do this, I just hope that they would still give us some scenes of laughter and liveliness... and also some hot and palpable moments between the leads...

Young man in his early 20s.. hahaha

and with raging hormones... but isn't she also the one with the raging hormones. Like she literally had to fan herself as she thought of his abs and chest. I can't blame her,, cause he did looks too hot to handle. But just saying our heroine is not as innocent as the usual candy girl. and I like that of her.

Also Junho's noona, posted in IG and mentioned Woojin watching his samcheon.

and then I laugh, thinking WooJin watching the bathtub scene...?

and me thinking that woojin also asking "why is samcheon swimming with a  robe on" or "will samcheon's shoulder be okay, that noona is leaning too close to his shoulder, it might hurt".

or did Junho give noona a heads up about that scene...

    Poor tangerine-heart, rejected that way...

    can I have it?

Oh San, so he only could think of sending her to exile to lessen her pubishment?? Noo, it is unfair. The princess hwawan's prank last time was more than enough, she doesn't deserve the punishment for something she's not responsible for.

And, I just love how DI could suggest to the queen for the King himself to clear her name. It's really satisfying to see it, if DI can defend herself, this reminds me of Jang Geum in Jewel in The Palace. (Such a very classic drama telling about Lady Court) The female character doesn't give up to the difficukt situation and always has hsr way to turn up the tables.

LoL that is some ballsy move for her naming the King as her witness.

I mean that is so not done in that era, especially by a court lady, So it is jarring to watch cause I don't think anyone would ever do that.

but one thing I know is that for DeokIm, being alive trumps everything else, so I think for her, she already at a disadvantage, she will  already be sentenced to die, then why not say something or whatever to try to clear her name or get the lesser of the punishment...

"If you cut off her tendons and kick her out of the palace she is as good as dead.
You have always taught me a lot of things, Your Majesty"

The king of joseon gets absolute power over everyone in the kingdom, if he does not treat each subject with respect, he does not have the right to become their king.

Trying to view if from the context of those times , he sees her as his woman and in those times women are still objectified ( especially among royalty / nobles).

So since that book that she is caught with was the one that the King gave her at San's grandmother's funeral, this will mean that San will finally realise that she was the young court girl at the funeral right?

That is true, by all things, she is really his. he is her owner in that era

But his inner monologue to answer what King Yeongjo advised him about having someone by his side..

He wants something different than what Yeongjo did to San's grandmother but he will find out it is easily said than done. His words will comeback to haunt him cause Di has her own mind plus episode 8 shows DI in a tight spot.

So will he be able to protect her, and is he willing to protect her at all cost even when she rejected him...?

and yes, he will finally know their child hood connection. If so. i really like this reveal of their childhood rendezvous...

the first part, with  the continuation of the bath falling/jumping scene made me laugh and giggle so much... them getting confused where to go was so funny...

But also the aftermath, with what they remember:

    • For DeokIm, it was San's Chest/Abs.... then his face
    • for San, he kept remembering DeokIm's lips,, neck, lips and then eyes..

...also the poem that San was reading, here is the explanation...

    • ...river, the poet couldn’t see the details but is deeply driven to it. It signifies the distance between the poet and the person he is yearning for. It’s so far yet so far
    • Note : when studying classics we should always look beyond the literal meaning, as if San and the noblemen are studying. They won’t choose a love poem for San right when it’s suppose to prepare him to be king

Am perplexed at Court Lady J’s. intentions for Deok IM.  I thought she was against San becoming King.  Since she knows Deok IM is too smart. Why does she want Deok IM be the Royal Concubine?  in that position, it is a big positive for San.  Ironic the King saying that is exactly who he needs by his side. Someone like Deok Im.

this is just my theory but...

I think Head Court Lady think she can control DI. She admitted to DI about assigning DI to the library so that she can have close contact with San, as well as orchestrating her proficiency on books by assigning the transcription of books to Di  This was Di will be well read enough to be at a level above normal court lady and be able to converse to San.

She probably thought  that putting DI in a position to be adored by the crown prince, DI will be drawn to be in that position. and then that by explaining first the scenario of how she planned it, DI will be indebted to her thus, she might think that she can ask favors of DI.

and if DI do become concubine, she will have something to hold DI accountable, that if ever DI doesn't do her bidding, head court lady can expose DI that their connections in the library were planned, and that could lead to San losing his favor to DI.

And a concubine who lost favor from the king is a very bad place to be. So that is a way to blackmail DI

So for Head court Lady, she wants someone in San's harem, someone close enough as a confidant that can be used to know San's head space so that they can plan against.

  15. 2PM’s Lee Junho Worries About Lee Se Young While On A Secret Date In “The Red Sleeve”

    dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

    Dec 3, 2021 | by E. Cha

MBC’s “The Red Sleeve” has shared a sneak peek of 2PM’s Lee Junho and Lee Se Young on a secret date!

“The Red Sleeve” is a historical drama about the imperial romance between crown prince Yi San (played by Lee Junho), who later becomes emperor, and the strong-willed court lady Seong Deok Im (played by Lee Se Young).

    SPOILER

    Spoiler

On the previous episode of “The Red Sleeve,” Yi San managed to be freed with Seong Deok Im’s help—and in the process of watching her go to all sorts of lengths for him, he became completely smitten. The episode ended with Yi San and Seong Deok Im accidentally getting closer during his bath time, heightening the romantic tension between them.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, Yi San and Seong Deok Im secretly meet alone at a quiet place on the palace grounds. As the two spend a furtive moment together, Yi San seems to worry about Seong Deok Im’s health, tenderly holding her with one arm as he brings a hand to her forehead to check her temperature.

While their prescribed roles dictate that the court lady should be the one caring for the crown prince, Yi San adorably winds up being the one fretting over Seong Deok Im’s well-being.

The producers of “The Red Sleeve” teased, “In Episode 7, San will be transparent and forward in his pursuit of Deok Im. San’s deepening feelings for Deok Im will explosively make viewers’ hearts flutter, so please show a lot of anticipation and interest.”

also.... remember the catchphrase/quote for this drama in their posters and teasers are:

    "a mournful imperial court romance,

between the king and the court lady"

    like not sad, but mournful

    Spoiler

    and

The novel didn't have a happy ending, cause it ends with her death, same with what history has stated, someone who read the novel told me that...

Actually I have been quite surprised at all the comedy that the drama has given us so far.

I feel like we are Hansel and Gretel, and MBC is the witch who lured everyone to candy and all things nice of TRS...MBC feeds us so much candy, only to be slaughtered at the end...

but for me, I am prepared like what  @abs-oluteMmentioned.

We need to be like Hansel and Gretel, we get out alive and somehow intact after all this...

  18. Lee Jun-Ho is the Historical Bath God

    The-Red-Sleeve-1.jpeg?w=540&ssl=1

Actor Lee Jun-Ho heated up the small screen with an unconventional abs-exposed bath scene in MBC’s “The Red Sleeve”

In the sixth episode of “The Red Sleeve”, Yi San (Lee Jun-Ho) was preparing for a rose-petals-filled bath.

Lee Jun-Ho is known to have been on a diet for a long time for the three-minute bath scene. “I’ve been on a diet for a long time because I have to film a bath scene in the drama. It was so hard,” he shared on an entertainment show.

After the sixth episode was aired, behind-the-scenes footage of the bath scene was released. In the behind-the-scenes video, Lee Jun-Ho was doing dumbbell exercises just before filming the scene and doing push-ups.

Due to the scene, Lee Jun-Ho gained a new nickname of the ‘Historical Bath God’ and became the ‘best minute’ in the sixth episode. The clip from the episode gained 200,00 views in just one day with more than 1,000 comments.

Among the comments left were, “Here’s the washboard Deok-Im was looking for”, “I knew the bath scene would be a hit”, “the hottest bath scene in the history of Korean historical dramas.”

MBC’s “The Red Sleeve” breaks their own highest ratings in each episode and tops the Friday-Saturday drama
