  1. @40somethingahjummamy bad I think I got this mixed up with 雪山飛狐* (Flying Fox in Snow Mountain). You are right, don't think there has been a drama adaptation of this story but I believe there was a film produced in 1993 https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-my/飛狐外傳_(1993年電影) which starred Leon Lai Ming as Hu Fei, Michele Monique Reis as Cheng Ling Su, Sharla Zhang Min as Yuan Zi Yi. I did a bit of digging around and it seems that this is a prequel to 雪山飛狐 which Jin Yong wrote to shape Hu Fei better (a point he admitted was not done sufficiently well in that* novel whereby Hu Yi Dao was better developed than the hero, Hu Fei). So from 1960 to 1961, he wrote 飞狐外传 as a prequel and to provide Hu Fei an opportunity to be worthy of his name. Hope you enjoy this drama! Happy viewing.
  2. @Tofu seriously what's holding this drama up? no approvals yet or sth else?
  3. @40somethingahjumma yes, a Jin Yong remake, and the guy from Dating in the Kitchen plus the ML in this drama is from Listening Snow Tower, and it so happens he's got a modern drama airing the same time too. Tbh, the ending of this drama doesn't beckon to me, and the two FL's aren't particularly appealing, though I have enjoyed Fair Xing's works before and Liang Jie was ok in The Eternal Love series. What else are you deliberating upon that you've got choices to make?
  4. Does anyone know if the official BGM/OST is out? I am desperately looking for a music that should be in the BGM but when I look in Youtube, there really isn't an official list, just the 5-6 songs that have been released for months now.
  5. @OsmanthusTea I felt that CY's portrayal of Xuan Ye was a bit reptilian... seriously it reminded me of a snake and his voice was erh strange. I think that voice is CY's own voice - I just compared with his voice in South Wind Knows My Mood (unless that was dubbed??). It's the same voice, tbh not very endearing or attractive.
  6. @mademoiselle Yes, I read and saw from some comments that he (YY) is a dork. Well, one can't have it all - good looks and great interpersonal skills? What's with your question about the pix being photoshopped? What was significant about it? Looks real. Wow - the booting ceremony, look at how close he was standing behind her, gee, it looks like there was hardly much space in between them. I would make a bet that he prolly had a crush on her from the time they were shooting TLB, seriously. There's been quite a few pix of him stealing a glance at her, tis' ain't the first, and imagine this was at the booting ceremony, not even after they had been filming. So, it can't be the camaraderie they developed from working in the drama. On a separate note, I wonder what was going on in his head/heart when he was wiping the tears from her eyes, you know, when she was petrified during the horse ride scene and bawling her eyes out.
  7. @OsmanthusTea Youku is like MangoTV (remember Sleepless Princess where they made viewers pay for the final scene) ??? Guess what? There is going to be an Easter Egg And here is a reported scene from there https://fb.watch/fipSfFXT_a/
  8. @OsmanthusTea yes, a waste of 40+ hours of watching if you ask me. I am glad I didn't put in that much time though. thank heavens. I
  9. @mademoiselle I think this drama imbues the both of them with emotions, all sorts, from love to anger to hate, so it's probably not difficult to really develop some feeling for your co-star. With TLB, the affection and love required isn't as intense, this one goes all out. And they are closer in age, so I can imagine that it'd be easy to develop a crush. @Tofu I CANNOT wait to watch the one with Chen Zhe Yuan, I like him a lot too. She looks so young in school clothes, luckily she can still pull it off - saw some paparazzi shots leaked of the shooting of that drama. I don't think I will watch her in Hou Lang (too serious for me). And is she really starring in Shen Yin with Chen Xing Xu (or is that still a rumour)?
  10. @abs-oluteM @mademoiselle @Lynne @Tofu I personally think from the way he steals a few glances at her, that it would be an absolute lie if he didn't have a liking for her. I also heard on YT someone analysing their celebration party, pointing out that WL rushed over to take a photo with her...so I think these observations likely suggest a fondness of sorts. I'd hazard a guess that they both know these are their golden moments/years and career should come first. And our dear girl is so absolutely focused on work that I wonder if she even entertains the thought of anything else. So, if there's more to that, they are both hiding it pretty well. [Tbh even when she was filming WRTW, netizens were pointing out how close YY and her were. She's probably got very good interpersonal skills and gets along with her MLs fabulously. If anything, I'd say it's more him (WL) than her.]
  11. @OsmanthusTea all remaining six episodes are out. They must be doing a fast track. I couldn't resist and watched the ending. And this is what I have to say.
  12. I will check it out for the ML. let u know what i think. Also I like the genre.
  13. @OsmanthusTea I find his (LYN) YT videos quite hilarious - there was one where he was giving advice how to behave in front of him as a fan. The long hair he is sporting is quite becoming of him, like a rocker, LOL. I still love his performance in The Long Ballad, the transformation from self-righteous guard to someone in love was mesmerising, and the way he stared at Zhao Lu Si... (Their relationship tugged at my heartstrings more than the other couple, tbh.) I listened to Dylan Wang's interview about DFQC being his redemption, and it made me recall how Vengo Gao felt about playing Di Jun. I think they (and those others who have been opportune enough) are lucky to get a role where they feel great affinity for and can bring the character to life so well, to the point I think that viewers will see them as being synonymous with the character, no one else will be able to replace them.
  14. @Tofu eventhough I'd much rather have my GPS in English, I really, really won't mind hearing him on my google maps! oh, can someone persuade him to record his voice for google maps or waze??? I think it'd be the rave in China...and wherever else that uses Mandarin. Actually someone should ask him to record his voice as an alarm clock. @Tofu got ah? Considering our little orchid loves sleeping in. I can imagine him telling her off for still being asleep...and then finally saying, it's ok, I'll let you sleep in a bit longer if that's what you want. keh keh keh
  15. @NiteWalker or @OsmanthusTea can one of you confirm who is the author's work that Zhang Ling He and Esther Yu are supposed to star in? Source: https://k.sina.com.cn/article_6427651456_17f1e2d80019015wn4.html?cre=tianyi&mod=pcent&loc=6&r=0&rfunc=15&tj=cxvertical_pc_ent&tr=181&from=ent&subch=oent For those who can't read Chinese, here's a summary from this news site. It says that the chemistry between Dylan Wang and Esther Yu is good, whilst there is a sense of CP between Esther with Zhang Ling He. These duo are in talks to star together in a period idol drama, the author if not mistaken is Xiao Si (?). The drama is at the phase of planning to film.
  16. @NiteWalkeryes I saw that video - gullible him, he actually believed her. Shows he is still quite pure at heart. hahah And naughty Esther for tricking him. @OsmanthusTea I fell in like with Zhang Ling He in Maiden Holmes where he acted with Sebrina Chen. He was such a gentlemanly character there...the 21-year old in me swooned. Not quite tall, dark, handsome, but certainly he had all the manerisms and at 1.88m, gee, two out of three ain't bad. I was waiting anxiously for him to get some more leading roles, and am glad there are a few coming up for him. I think he has potential, let's hope he nails the upcoming roles and makes a name for himself. And his actual voice is really deep, omo....even more to like about him now! @Tofu I saw that it's Yang Mi with Gong Jun. I second you, I love Li Yi Tong as Si Ming, she gave that character so much depth...and her air of authority, wow! I am still keeping my fingers crossed that a director will cast DD and XX together again, perhaps in a modern drama, if a costume drama is too much to ask for. Then again, the script counts for a lot...so here's hoping!
  17. @OsmanthusTeawah, u didn't point that out, I also didnt' realise. Ya-hoh, version 2.0 was the Glazed Fire which was software / hardware upgrade. I think someone has to explain all those other parts to people like me lah.
  18. @Tofu Li Yi Tong is really pretty and stood out as Si Ming! I thought she was beautiful, not pretty, but really beautiful. I wonder with their popularity, whether some director will jump on this band wagon and cast them together again? Makes commercial sense right?? I wonder if a modern drama would work for them? [Indeed, Dylan looks good in black, seriously good!] The author Jiu Liu Fei Xiang is pretty remarkable - all her works have been made into dramas. Not sure about Ryan Ding and Yang Chao Yue....hhmm... will reserve my comments till it's out. Tbh I didn't think much about this two as well, as I had some personal opinions about Esther's voice and Dylan's acting. Goes to show that the right environment (colleagues), perhaps a good director and a character that one feels affinity for, really make a world of a difference. I was laughing when you all commented about paying taxes. @OsmanthusTea oh yes, that scene was superb. I love how he grabbed her and kissed her. I think she was too shocked to think, she just let herself go in that kiss. And I think no words were necessary, he said what he had to say and she knew he knew, for sure. Though I don't think she realised what he was planning to do next. Because if she had, she wouldn't have let him proceed. I know we have been raving about the actors but the Voice Actor for DFQQ I felt was good as well, he was able to deliver the emotions appropriately. It was voiced by Wang Bao Shun (王宝顺), I can't seem to find any info about this person, but I'd like to say 'hats off to him'. That long-standing joke with your friend, haha, I faintly recall someone telling me a similar situation.
  19. @OsmanthusTea yup, you were right about that snippet you showed us! I saw Dylan before in Ever Night 2, but I didn't persevere because I felt lost with the direction of the story as compared with part 1, and I personally preferred Arthur Chen. I didn't watch the other dragon show, but this IS really a showcase for him. I think this drama is really the one that is going to boost his popularity. I wish him all the best, and hope he enjoys it; fingers crossed he will stay clean and clear of whatever authorities or vengeful people.
  20. @OsmanthusTea @Yana I added the video into my earlier post of them kissing non-stop. it's the same from the twitter posts. I wonder if the silly emperor gets visited by the Evil Tai Sui too? makes sense with all his ambitions and lofty ideas of evil vs good.
  21. @OsmanthusTea the fact that XY Wah...they purposely removed or refused to put up the E36 trailer...must be really trying to ramp up the suspense and ratings. Yes, there was a BTS of the last filming episode and it was the two of them kissing non-stop. lol Found it! check out 00:35 onwards
  22. @OsmanthusTea iqiyi had the preview for E35 and then it got removed. I couldn't find the E36 preview but saw an unofficial one on YT. Wow....tomorrow night is going to keep me on my seat, for sure. (plus as a bonus, it's Monday, so the other drama will roll for 4 days next week.)
  23. @OsmanthusTea some YouTuber said they should just get together. Lol You know what I think is really the relationship between si ming and the dragon?
  24. @OsmanthusTea oh yes! Indeed, that was one drama which gives similar feels, though I don't think she resurrected the dead. As for Si Ming (lol, I keep thinking of the male version in Pillow Book) I know that's the explanation but I wonder .... lol... looking at their exile, I think it looks more like a honeymoon. Though in the long run I wonder if they will get cabin fever and get on each other's nerves, and need a divorce like some couples, post-Covid. As for the video you posted - Wow, I suppose if one remains in character, the reaction would be exactly like Esther's, where she got emotional hearing Dylan cry so sorrowfully.
