  1. Oh yes, since the ex-wife knows a lot about Ro Hee and the family, she could be the mysterious mistress. (Ro Hee has good instincts and I noticed she doesn't trust the ex-wife.) It's highly possible she and PCW could be working together. Ro Hee had some memory flashes of seeing a police car and maybe a police officer during the night of the murders. So, there's a possibility of this link as well. Also, the show brings up Ro Hee's necklace a few times. I wonder if this will be some kind of clue.
  2. It isn't just me then. LOL. He was so clean-cut and intelligent in Chocolate so seeing him in character here was a bit trippy for my eyes and mind at first, but I eventually got used it too. He's doing a great job, but I can't help laugh at him sometimes. LOL. His character has a kind heart though. Yes, she is a mini adult and has the real adults wrapped around her finger. LOL. I do think she is the brain of the duo and he has become more like her protector. However, while on the run, I do think she was looking out for him as well. She knows he wants to be around for his daughter's upcoming surgery so she didn't want him to get caught by the police. She told him he must holdoff getting arrested until after the surgery. It shows she cares about him too. Their bond is sweet. Based on this, I am leaning toward Ro Hee's intelligence is the result of the experiment (versus the experiment is studying her natural intelligence). I am not sure if the investor lady killed her parents either, but I have her on my suspects list. She was looking at a framed family photo on her office desk. I couldn't tell who they are though. Since it was shown, I'm guessing it has a significance. Other suspects on my list include: Myung Joon's ex-wife - She knows way too much about Ro Hee and her family. I find it strange that she has a strong interest in Ro Hee but not her daughter who is sick. There's something off about that. Park Cheol Won (the security company employee) - It was revealed that he is the man who attacked the doctor and young girl 30 years at the opening of the story. The doctor would be Ro Hee's paternal grandfather. One of the detectives speculates Park may have sought revenge on Ro Hee's father for the loss of his wife and unborn child. I thought the same. It does feel like he crossed over from Not Others to here. I hope the case doesn't get taken away from him. His observations are spot on so far. I want to see him interact with Ro Hee and Myung Joon.
  3. @abs-oluteM I'm glad you were able to start this. You too @Chocolate. I'm curious to know what you think as you continue to watch more. I've watched through episode 4. I agree with @Alice Wonderland, more clues are revealed and there are quite a number of suspicious characters which keeps the mystery interesting. So far, I don't find it easy to narrow down the suspects, but I do think there is more than one suspect and more than one motive. Based on Detective Park's observation of the crime scene, Ro Hee's parents' murders look like two separate crimes. He may be right. This is an interesting theory. We shall see because I'm at a loss on who else would've paid it and why. Ro Hee is indeed an intelligent kid. Gutsy too. I love her determination in wanting to find the culprit herself. It seems she saw him/her at the crime scene, but unfortunately, she lost her memories. In time, I wouldn't be surprised if she's the one who eventually solves the crime. It would be neat if we get to see her work with Detective Park and his team on the investigation. -------- So far, my favorite part of the story is Ro Hee and Myung Joon's bond. I find them heartwarming and funny at the same time. He was supposed to kidnap her, but it seems she has kidnapped him. LOL. I get the feeling she longs for a real father who cares for her so I'm curious to know what will become of their relationship in the end. The last time I saw Yoon Kye Sang, it was in Chocolate. He's so different here. LOL. Yu Na, actress playing Ro Hee, is so talented. Quite impressive at such a young age.
  4. Oh, thanks! @SilverMoonTea I do love a good mystery especially one that is difficult to guess whodunit so I will check it out.
  5. @Alice Wonderland I'm glad you started watching this. I'm left with the same questions as you too. MJ is a clumsy kidnapper because he does not have the heart of one. He's a good hearted father in a tough situation because of his sick daughter. I like the bond between him and RH too. In the preview, the detective team notices they move more like a team (versus a kidnapper and his victim) so should be interesting to see them continue to bond together. She is a genius kid and appears to be the brain of the two. LOL. I also think RH was likely a test subject for her dad's research, but was that the extent of the "abuse"? Were the parents murdered for the research? The detective team's impression of murder scene was that the murders could be separate from the other. I thought that was an interesting observation. We don't know how RH escaped that night yet, but although MJ was there to kidnap her, he probably saved her instead. Yes, I agree. Many people already appear sus. For example, MJ's ex-wife knows way too much about RH and her family. The head of the security company for RH's family residence seems off too. Why would you turn off the CCTV cameras? And yes, who paid the hospital bill??
  6. I loved the show in its entirety so thank you for recommending it. Seeing Elvis Han again in such a healthy lead role after so many years was an absolute plus :) I did see My Journey to You is fully completed now which is good timing. I will be starting it next.
  7. @Alice Wonderland The first 2 episodes are out. I am watching it on Amazon Prime (U.S.) under the title The Kidnapping Day, but I am not sure about its availability in other regions. -------- I watched the first 2 episodes in one sitting…it is pretty good. Right off the bat, the male lead and little girl’s accidental relationship is funny and endearing at the same time. They are complete strangers, yet they have an immediate bond that would be difficult to form under false pretenses. She trusts him even when she starts to figure out the lies. Given that the male lead has his own daughter and what happened to the little girl’s real parents, it will be interesting to see how their pseudo father/daughter relationship will develop over the course of the mystery and conclude in the end. I have my hopes, but we shall see… @abs-oluteM Park Sung Hoon doesn’t appear in the story until episode 2, but I have to say Yoon Kye Sang and the child actress, Yu Na, steal the show so far. However, I think once PSH's detective character figures out the mystery doesn’t match up with the male lead, his role and how he’ll approach the investigation should be good to see.
  8. @abs-oluteM I finished as well. You summarized everything great about the show perfectly. This one definitely sets the bar high. It's one of the best rom-coms I've seen and will go down as a classic for me. I agree the writing/dialogue was brilliant throughout. Even at the very end, Tang Ying's final narrative managed to inspire me, particularly when she said... "Happiness, success and joy can't possibly be the result designed by the scriptwriter of life. It can only be your own tangible experience. I've met many people in this city and they eventually taught me that the world is big, too big to imagine, so walk your path, not according to the written script. Throw away the script and struggle to find your own life. It's okay to fail. It's okay to take the wrong road. Live freely. Isn't that the most stylish thing?" Overall, it's a rom-com, but I thought also a slice of life. Personally, I found some of characters' struggles relatable and their journey in finding their resolutions in love, career and life to be inspiring in many ways. It was great to see the couple and other characters eventually find their place in life. @Chocolate Tang Ying said something in the last episode to Yu Chuanchuan that made me think of what you said here. As opposed to YCC who has many male friends, Tang Ying only has one, Ziquan. Unfortunately, he pretended to be her friend and tricked her into becoming his girlfriend. It was hilarious and so true to what you said that a man and woman can never be just friends. LOL.
  9. I haven't had time to start episode 12 yet so I think we're at the same spot. I nearly gasped when the old crush showed up. Luckily, our girl already made her choice and that's that. And, our boy didn't flinch a bit when he was introduced to her old crush. He even invited the old crush up to their place. LOL. Yes, the investment banker girl is shameless. He basically needed to peel her off of him. I had second-hand embarrassment for her. But, it was good that Tang Ying was able to close a chapter of her life concerning the old crush and so did Ziquan with his "player" past. I agree the writer is quite witty with the analogies. I think the tank owner and his only fish are quite happy with the downsize. LOL. I still get shivers thinking about the sister's ex-boyfriend, but I'm just glad he didn't resort to hurting her or himself. Now let's see what will happen between her and the new guy. LOL. I like Tang Ying's boss too. I wasn't sure at first when she encouraged Tang Ying to consider Mr. Ma, but she's proved to be caring and supportive. I am enjoying her romance with the law professor too. It was this drinking scene over hot pot that made me root for the couple. During this banter, it was clear their chemistry was beyond physically attraction. The mental chemistry was fire too. I also liked the part where they shared the same stance about retaining their independence and not changing themselves or the other person. It showed substance to have a lasting relationship. This is why I don't consider Ziquan a player. He admitted he likes women, but once he knows they don't have the qualities of being a potential partner, that's it. I think he found his fish for his tank when he gave her the ring and wasn't planning to let her go anywhere. LOL. Thanks for sharing the Cartier Trinity Ring! Love the meaning behind each band and how they're intertwined as one.
  10. Yes! What you said is exactly why I liked these episodes. I thought their conversation over the phone when they missed each other at their doorsteps and when they talked it out at her place was nicely done. There were some missteps by both parties in the pushing and pulling tango, but the stumbles led them to convey what they were frustrated with and what they wanted from each other. If they didn't mean so much to each other, they wouldn't be so bothered right? LOL. I liked that Ziquan acknowledged some of his faults. He was afraid of not knowing how to make a committed relationship work so he was riding the wave and thought he had time, but when push came to shove, he wasn't going to let taking things coolly make him lose her. I had thought only Tang Ying was afraid, but he was too. Anyway, I loved the whole dialogue and the transition of friendship to couples rings when they got together as well. I was a bit frustrated here too. But at least while she was at her wits end, her burst of emotions let him know her limits and he acted upon them. To be honest, I was getting to the point where they just needed to get together and kiss for real. LOL. -------- I've finished episode 11 and @Chocolate is right. There's not much tension anymore, but they're still cute and hilarious together. Love their banter and how it's incorporated to find their footing in the early phases of their relationship. But OMG, the sister's boyfriend is creepy!
  11. I did some digging and learned it's available on Amazon Prime (North America) which I have. It's under the title "The Kidnapping Day". Not sure if it's available in your region. I have a feeling it'll make to the "web" though. Woohoo! We need some making up for PSH screen time. All the clips look so good. I will start this after Fake It.
  12. @abs-oluteM Thanks for creating the thread. Trailer looks pretty good so I'm excited for it. Hopefully, there'll be subs. Fingers crossed.
  13. I'm home today so I was able to watch episodes 8 and 9. They might be my favorite episodes so far. The dialogue between the 2 leads were so good. If it weren't for their ability to communicate so well, I'm not sure if they would've been able to pull through some of the ambiguity and misunderstandings. @abs-oluteM I think you'll like these episodes. Looks like Tang Ying did consider Mr. Ma as an interest momentarily, but I don't think she was all that serious about it. Plus, this was when Ziquan was away in the "wilderness". When Tang Ying asked her boss to help get her out of the sticky situation, her boss was willing to play the part. I was getting worried about blurring business with personal so it was a relief to see her boss do that and not force anything on Tang Ying. It was Tan Ying's choice to keep going or end it. Tan Ying made a reference to Jin Yong's novel/drama, Heavenly Sword Dragon Sabre, to Mr. Ma after he referred to her as twisty. "The more beautiful a woman is, the more likely she is to deceive people." She's not wrong. LOL. I liked that Mr. Ma found her more attractive when she was just being herself. Looks like he won't pursue her further though after she confirmed the "couples" ring on her. I also liked that he appreciated her dedication and hard work.
  14. Just finished episode 7 as well. I didn't get the impression Tang Ying is interested in Mr. Ma in a romantic way, but we'll see... So far, her efforts in impressing him seem to be for the project to succeed. I'm not sure how I feel about her going out her way to do so, but if it's for career reasons, I get it. Must be tiring though. I'm glad Ziquan is back in town as well. I like that he won't let himself be defeated and still doing his best while in the "wilderness". It was funny when he interrupted Mr. Ma and Tang Ying to confirm she was not at the event as his girlfriend. LOL. It's time for him to step up his game! Totally agree that no man and woman can just be friends. It's definitely an excuse to test the romantic waters. So far, Ms. Wang and Mei Ling had some interesting changes in life. For the better I would say. I was a bit shocked when Mei Ling took off her wig, but I guess it was symbolic of shedding what's fake and being her true self.
  15. I made it through episode 5 and saw part of episode 6. I loved how Ziquan remembered Tang Ying’s words about where she would like to take him after they finished their project and did find her at the rooftop. However, they hit a bit of snag as she is still guarding herself after a half-hearted confession. Did she take a few steps back because when she offered to cheer him up and go for drinks, he declined (for good reasons)? When she asked him if he ever felt tempted by her, I felt my heart drop when he took a long pause, said “no” and hung up. It was just a bad day for him to begin with so he must’ve been disappointed. I actually feel bad for Ziquan whenever he's called a player. He just wants to find his life partner (the other half) and dating is that process of elimination in finding that right person. I like him a lot too. Most rom coms tend to write the male lead initially with a tsundere-type personality, then gradually reveal his warmer sides. In this show, I like that Ziquan is right off the bat...a nice and good man. If I were Tan Ying, I would fall for him too because he's kind to me, his colleagues, animals and has good work ethics. Re: Tan Ying, based on her dream at the beginning of episode 4, she seems to have a fear of being humiliated or made a fool by love so she completely guards herself. A misunderstanding will set her back. I hope to see her get over this and take a leap of faith. Even though she fumbled through her "confession", at least Ziquan knows she likes him, but she's scared. Their budding “friendship” is great. I noticed they are instinctively relying and depending on each other - from something simple as a broken laptop, bad workday to rock-bottom workday. Aside from physical chemistry, their mental connection is off the charts as well. Not sure if they realize it, but they’re a lot alike and want similar things in a relationship. Re: the sister, have you seen episode 6 yet? The guy hasn't stopped giving yet. LOL. You're right though. Her sister isn't seeking the right building blocks of a sound relationship. -------- About the rings, I like how Ziquan won't let her give hers back no matter and slips it back on her finger. That says a lot and she should feel his sincerity.
  16. I finished episode 3. When I had previously stopped halfway, I was just minutes away from them finding out that they would be working together. It was funny how Tang Ying has been wanting to land a high-profile project yet when it was one with Ziquan, she got nervous and hesitated a bit. Hmmm...LOL. But anyway, I really like this shot of them… I assume the backstory of the lonely whale persevering through the ocean alone and only wanting to be heard by its kind is echoing the same desire of the two leads. It ties back to what Ziquan said about lonely souls wanting to find true love in the vast world. You have to be really lucky to find it. I can’t wait for them to find out they’ve been looking for the same thing. I liked their conversation about mistaking being moved by someone nice to you as love. Tang Ying told Ziquan she is certain that she wouldn't fall in love with someone merely because he's nice to her because it means she doesn't genuinely like him and he doesn't have the things she wants. If you settle for him, you're going against your true heart. You should be with him because you like him. After hearing this, I felt Ziquan found her even more interesting. Perhaps he learned something that's starting to set her apart from the other women he's known? Ziquan was supposed to be drunk in this scene, but it was obvious his mind was clear (as he said so himself). So, I really liked how the couples rings happened between the two. I'll call them the couples rings because that's what he called them first when he asked the sales person for them. He wisely changed them to friendship rings because I agree, he knew Tang Ying is cautious and nervous about him. He wanted to convey that he really likes her, but he didn't want to scare her at the same time. While she thought he was acting under the effects of alcohol, it was an opportune moment for him to gift them to her and she would accept. He has quite a high EQ in his ability to sense the state her emotions and I love his patience/time with her. I'm happy to know the rings will be present throughout the show.
  17. I’ve only gotten to half of episode 3 so far. Just wanted to say I like Ziquan’s thoughtfulness of his subordinates. He seems to hustle hard for the company to make the investment deals with the wellbeing of his team in mind. If the company does well, it means no layoffs etc. His team’s jobs are safe and that’s what’s important to him. Going back to the intro where he got a blanket for Tang Ying during their flight, it might’ve seemed like a flirtatious move coming from a stranger, but as we get to know him better, I think he was just being kind. Also, when he bumped into Tang Ying in front of her apartment building, he had walked her sister home from their second “date”. By that point, he knew the sister was not for him, yet he still walked her home. Most guys would simply split at the end of date and head their separate ways. So, he was a gentleman to walk her sister home as an acquaintance/friend. He's a great guy...good-hearted and a straight shooter. I especially like that he's open about himself with Tang Ying. I hope to see her warm up to him. I saw the intro of episode 3 gave us some insight on his past serious relationship. His ex-girlfriend seemed really insecure and did not trust him. They way she broke-up with him was quite terrible. Still, he doesn't seem jaded by love but acknowledges that it is not easy to find true love. So far, I don't get vibes that he's a player. I mean, he's definitely smooth with his words, but to me, he seems like a nice guy and a gentleman who happens to be in the dating pool. Their chemistry is really off the charts as @40somethingahjumma said and they're not even dating yet. It makes me wonder what it'll be like when they actually get romantic! I haven't gotten to where they will work together on a project, but I'm looking forward to it. I liked their moment together at the end of episode 2 where they watched a movie on her laptop sharing the headset. Their closeness and glances at each other were quite hot. Everything in that scene was pretty simple and ordinary...just them enjoying each other's company. I couldn't stop smiling. The sister seems superficial in terms of what she finds are important qualities in a man. She says she's looking for a long-term relationship that will lead to marriage, but I personally think she judges a man too quickly on what he can offer based on the surface of a first date. I knew the man from the park was actually rich. I can't tell if he took her on a simple date to test her or if he was merely being himself.
  18. I watched the first 2 episodes. They’re so fiery together. So, is their love language sharing perfume? I liked that she took it personally and was upset about him gifting her perfume scent away. However, I sort of saw it as because he kept her scent in mind, he’s keeping her in his mind. When Tang Ying’s sister told her about “dating” Elvis, her reaction gave away that she likes him. She even deleted him from her phone. She’s tough on him because he seems like a player which from her point of view, I don’t blame her. However, it’s obvious she’s special in his eyes. I like that he admits he likes women and is candid about dating. He may be interested in a woman at first, but if he finds she’s not for him, he’ll back away. So, we should find out how he feels about her if he’s still lingering around. About the subs, the ones on Viki are decent.
  19. I really enjoyed the final 2 episodes. No one died...phew! I liked the approach of using dialogue from the interrogations and testimonies to reveal everything. I agree some things were convenient, but I thought they did the job of tying things up. My favorite part was the various characters confronting each other. I could feel the characters’ emotions, even regret. Particularly Ki Young, we got to see a vulnerable side. Throughout, I kept wondering if things could’ve turned out differently if he had chosen to share the truth with Young Woon and father instead. They seemed willing to help him had they known the mother's motives. Oh well… He's my favorite character too. I liked how the final episodes gave an emotional layer to him. I got a little teary during his conversation with YW and even with this father. I also liked his understanding with Detective Oh and their same goal to convict Jinjin Medical. I misunderstood in thinking his idea of a perfect crime was to get-off scot free. From the start, he plotted everything knowing he would get caught. I thought it was partly revenge as well which is pretty sad. No matter what, children should not pay for the adults' faults. Even Detective Oh's mother said to YW's mother, she would never hurt others' children. I liked that the ending left some room for some of the characters to mend their relationships. I think it might've been for some comic relief, but yes, I raised my eyebrow too when PKY and Bae Min Gyu talked about jail-breaking. Like, seriously? I didn't mind too much about the friends to lovers insert between Detective Oh and Young Joo because from the beginning, it was already hinted the possibility would be YJ with Detective Oh or with YW. Of course, the latter was impossible now so they went with the former. LOL. Overall, this was a great show in terms of writing and pacing of the storyline. It managed capture and convey a lot of emotions too.
  20. I’ll definitely watch and come back here. Most likely over this weekend. The me today would have a difficult time getting through Seige in Fog because of the nonstop push and pull, but Elvis Han was worth the watch back then. I’m excited to see him in a contemporary romance and looking forward to the slow burn of friendship turning into something romantic. You are hilarious. I assume you will continue watching this. I will watch after I finish Longing for You finale. LOL. Yay, you saw the trailer. Looks quite spectacular, right? I was told the airing schedule is 1 episode per day but 2 episodes on Wednesday which I agree is a bit slow. Total of 24 episodes is do-able for me though. About Joseph Zeng, my understanding is he has a guest role only which was a bummer when I found that out. I liked him in Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre. But, I also like Zhang Ling He from Maiden Holmes.
  21. Thank you @40somethingahjumma I love When Harry Met Sally. I saw it again not too long ago so timing is perfect. I was planning to start another costume C-drama, My Journey to You, but I'll watch this first since it will complete soon. I haven't seen Elvis Han since Siege in Fog so it should be interesting seeing him in this role. (Off topic: I believe you like martial arts. Maybe you might like My Journey to You. I read reviews the choreo is amazing so far. I have to warn you though. It's still airing and is supposed to be angsty/suspenseful, including the romance part. Just FYI.)
  22. LOL. Let me first clarify that I don't believe he should get off scot free, but what you said is exactly why I wonder how much of his actions can the police/prosecution charge on him. By the way, isn't it weird the secretary didn't kill him off? I almost forgot he kidnapped Young Joo and Hee Joo. (I thought it was funny Hee Joo turned over a new leaf and wants to be a true prosecutor. Good for her and that she sees Young Joo as a role model after the kidnapping incident.) Nooooo...! I don't want him too. I think I'd cry.
  23. @liddi @ktcjdrama @40somethingahjumma Thanks for the clarification on the 2 seasons. Good to know filming has already been completed, but due to current rules, it is just getting split into 2 parts. Not airing season 2 until next year is a long gap though. Hopefully, timing is early next year. Thanks @liddi I'm happy to hear the drama adapted the key scenes and dialogue of the novel. Adaptions are usually difficult to capture all the details in the narrative of the novel which is why I was worried about the drama leaving out certain things. I like both Tu Shan Jing and Xiang Liu so I hope by the end, the emphasis on the 2 characters are at least equal. I also hope they don't emphasize on the 2 being love rivals, but they do have a mutual respect for each other. From what I understand though, Xiang Liu is Tong Hua's favorite character so I think she'll make sure he receives the audience's love that he deserves, especially in season 2. I will watch this for sure, but I might hold off a little. I'll definitely come back here when I do.
  24. I finished 11 and 12 - very good. Loved where it left off with Oh Jin Sang finding Park Ki Young alive! Those smirks of theirs when they looked at each other were so satisfying to see. Who knew fermented soy bean stew would be the key and Bae Min Gyu would be of any help with solving the dental records. LOL. It will be interesting to see what will happen to Park Ki Young. Will he get off with his so-called "perfect crime"? I think Cha Young Woon is pretending to side with his family to trap them as well. Because they're still his family, we might see that he's emotionally conflicted, but he'll do the right thing. A few episodes ago when he told his parents he wanted to propose to Young Joo, his mother made a comment that she guesses his instincts are with Woo Jin (due to having Jin Woo's heart). For this reason, I believe he'll side with his Woo Jin friends and expose his family's crimes. I don't see how else he'll be able to live on with Jin Woo's heart without seeking justice for him and simply doing the right thing. Let's hope we're not wrong. Totally agree. I was amazed by Cha Young Woon's emotions (and Kwon Yool's delivery) in this part. Because he was disgusted by his mother defending her monstrous actions and his father’s indifference in sacrificing an illegitimate son is why I doubt his end goal is to save them.
  25. This is on my watchlist, but I’ve been hesitant to start it because I understand it is split into 2 seasons. Does anyone happen to know whether a commitment for season 2 is set in stone and when it will air? (I would be disappointed if it came to halt partway like Princess Agents.) @liddi I’ve read the novel as well. So far, do you think the drama follows it for the most part? I usually don't care too much about this, but for this one, I feel it's important for the storytelling to hold true to the intricate details of the novel (as much as it can for an adaptation).
