I think the marriage can't be salvaged anymore. It will be fun to see SIH try to go extra miles to win her.

Haha, I will keep an open mind about the end result of the marriage. Each time Dr Cha tries to be break it off/divorce, something happens 😂

SIH clearly prefers to keep his family intact. But he hasn't figured out why yet. All these little things he is doing to try to get her to stay are things he thinks he should do, but he is not really doing it from his heart. I think with 3 episodes left, he will figure it out eventually. Whether it will be too late remains to be seen...

But that aside, I would take that 50% share of house and divorce later! 😂

I got @Chocolate figure out a bit more now. Though Zi Sheng isn't like that but she definitely likes the forceful, arrogant rich chaebol trope. Like Ji Sung in Secret or HB in Secret Garden who forces themselves on the women they like (out from the gutter, please!).:lmao2: Hand-grabbing, forced kisses entice her. Am I right, @Chocolate? :lenny:

You make me sound like a mad woman 😅

Yes, ML is her abused husband 😂😂 This drama is a kind of drama that need to pay attention to when watching 😂 quite lots of details and due to the new regulations, they cut off 18 eps. Hence many things were squeezed tightly.

Ah, so it’s a drama that needs to use some brain. Ok good!

I am watching ep2 again. This drama strikes me as a chicken and egg problem - if people has not been so mean to the ML, he may not have turned into the devil.

I’m surprised @SilverMoonTea likes this since both leads start off married lol!

I have an issue in the latest episode where Seo In Ho asked to break up and Seung Hee was all, "What about our daughter not having a father? What about us...this and that in the name of love..." Honestly at that point, it's all about her not wanting to be the Loser — even if the couple divorce later on, in reality, there's no way she'll have a "happy" or "harmonious" family life with In Ho. All that has happened and her actions in reacting to all the situations have damaged the possibilities of her getting what she thinks she wants.

It's probably partly pride. She's going to become the vengeful woman now, especially since the man willingly sacrificed her to protect his son.

I think I'm going to drop this drama. Last weekend's episodes were completely ridiculous. Plus, the scenes in episode 12 including the ending where IH passes out, as well as the preview for episode 13 make it seem as if the drama is going to put IH and JS together again, which I completely object to.

The only character who doesn't annoy the heck out of me right now is the chief resident, and I think she is far too good for Jung Min.

You're right. Almost everyone was annoying in ep12, including Dr Cha. Except the last part where she made the speech about wanting a divorce (before the nose bleed). The disabled car sticker hit her in a different way as I imagined - she was feeling hurt that he fetched SH around using the car, while I was thinking the mean pig refused to fetch her and made her take public transport when she first started her residency. It was quite a good explanation of why she wanted a divorce - do you notice she omitted about the organ donation? I think the producers have forgotten that too.

She found out about the affair so early. With so many episodes left at that point, I fully expect them to reconcile. I think the only way I would be pacified is if there is a scene where he tries to die to protect her 😂

If they do not reconcile, it would be a pleasant surprise.

Which part made you think that's not good??

Ep 1 was not very engaging but ok, most shows are like that at the beginning.

Ep 2 I was not really paying attention. Just know she travelled back in time and is some rich obnoxious daughter. Is the ML her long-suffering husband? Saw them on a bed in one scene I think. Was not feeling the heat. So I stopped 😂

    I will try it again.

  6. Midway through ep12, I was thinking this was descending into a farce 😆

You had all the senior doctors fighting like children (and there goes the suave image of Dr Roy Kim) and 2 intelligent woman squabbling over who was more at fault for stealing a useless man since 20 years ago 🙄

I have to agree with Dr Cha's friend - was SIH such a good lover??? But he can't get it up now because of the hair loss medicine, so why??? 😂

$5 my dad will likely say still expensive. He's always nagging about how the ol' times it only cost this this this much.

Some yes, some no. The tour is too fast pace for an ol' man with knee problem. Another issue was he got sick and was coughing in the nights, so didn't get good sleep. The tour I only remember he mentioned the botanical garden, Night Safari and aquarium.

Ok, I've never been to the night safari or the aquarium 😂 Hope it was still a decent trip for your dad. If food was the at ol' times levels, so would our salaries!

@Chocolate I'll be in Singapore for a few days at the beginning of September. I'm traveling with two other people and Singapore is our last stop. The two I'm traveling with were like "let's stay somewhere nice", so we ended up booking a room at The Fullerton. Hahaha! We will most likely not be eating out by the hotel because it is by Marina Bay Sands.

I would love food, attractions, or just things I should do while I'm in Singapore. I'll also be going to Kuala Lumpur and Bali, so if you've been, feel free to send recommendations for there too. I haven't traveled internationally in almost 10 years!

Oooh Fullerton! Yes, it's nice to end with a good hotel. It's at the end of our Central Business District. A convenient area for sightseeing. You're staying where F1 races around, the hoardings for the race track may be up in early Sep.

Hahaha, but Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is really a nice area. You should go. As integrated resorts go, it is one of the best worldwide, very well organised and has all the shopping and food you want. I think every night, there is a light show (don't expect too much) at the promenade (people cycle and jog there, and you see the CBD skyline across the river). If you go up to the rooftop, it's a really good view too. You can walk from the hotel to Suntec area and across the helix bridge to reach MBS. Food wise, you could try Haidilao. This is hotpot and really popular in SG. There's always a long queue despite the numerous branches they have. The service is good and they provide complimentary appetisers and dessert. The branch at MBS has the nicest ambience. Depending on what you order, could cost about S$150-200 for 3 pax. Or you could try Ippudo, which is Japanese ramen - about S$20 per bowl. There's also a lot of Michelin star/high end dining there - just check out their website.

Opposite Fullerton, from the Merlion, walk down a little and there is Kinki. This is Jap + bar. Has good reviews and also a view of MBS.

I'm not a sightseeing person and don't eat spicy food, so can't recommend Indian food etc 😂 Think a few must-dos are:

    1. Gardens by the Bay

+ World's longest sculpture arrives at Gardens by the Bay to raise awareness of wildlife conservation

    https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/world-longest-sculpture-arrives-gardens-bay-raise-awareness-wildlife-conservation-3501256

    and.... 🤣

    Food:

    Spoiler

Beach Road Prawn Noodles (they do morning/lunch crowd)

The soup is delicious, great combination with the fritters. A bowl of prawn noodles is less than S$10. I always see tourists come here to look at the murals at Haji Lane, just next to the shop but never understood why haha. After the meal, you can turn the corner and there is Arabica coffee. This area is a tourist attraction too I think - has turkish, middle eastern stuff.

    https://sethlui.com/beach-road-prawn-noodle-house-singapore/

    Newton Circus (opens at night)

I vouch for the Heng carrot cake and the fishball noodles. But you should try the seafood stall with the stingrays etc.

    https://www.tatlerasia.com/dining/food/what-to-eat-at-newton-food-centre

    https://danielfooddiary.com/2023/02/02/newtonfoodcentresg/

    Jumbo Seafood at East Coast

This is right next to the sea. Go early about 6pm+ so that you can get a table outside with the sea breeze.

    Great food.

    Robertson Quay

    Shunjuu Izakaya - yakitori

Natureland massage in the area too (this is a good chain, about S$70/hour for body massage, lesser for leg massage, however masseuse skill will depend on your luck)

    Chinatown

    https://www.misstamchiak.com/outram-park-fried-kway-teow-mee/

    Chjimes

Lei Garden (Chinese, 1 michelin star, but prices are regular restaurant prices for dim sum etc., best to reserve)

    Ma Maison Tonkatsu

If there are any other particular areas you will be going and want to know about food, just let me know.

KL I'm not familiar. Best to ask the Malaysians.

Bali - oooooooooh you must try the 4-hands massage!!!!! 2 therapists will massage you in sync. So both left and right are done at the same time. And the Balinese massage is just my favourite - it is soothing yet it touches the points but not painful like chinese tuina. You must try this. Seminyak is a central area to stay. I've tried W in Semniyak (but don't know why their pool is heated!), Ritz at Jimbaran and Banyan Tree at some corner far away from civilisation lol. Think you pick the area depending on what you want to do there. I usually just laze by the pool and go massage everyday haha.

Hahahaha! I'm very happy to return to Singapore after each trip, but as a destination... When will you be here and which area will you be staying? What do you want to do? I can try to make some recommendations for food etc.

Most things are not much cheaper than overseas because it is imported. That's why we go overseas to buy 😂 But most locals cook or eat/takeaway from hawker centres daily and that's very affordable. Aside from SEA, where else can you get a very good plate of chicken rice for S$5?

Hahaha! Plus I have my beef steak rare and you don't. I remember our prior conversation. So no sea urchin either?—because I always have that raw. Haha! Tsukiji market sells the biggest raw oysters there. I don't recommend going for the biggest though coz it's too big. You can have their fame egg rolls then. xD

You can try out convenience store's food too. I had them sometimes when I can't have big meals / not too hungry. So many bento boxes to choose from it's quite cool.

How about Omurice? I keep seeing people posting about him on IG. He's apparently coming here in June to collaborate with a Japanese chef from Ishizuka for 3 days.

Do you not like ramen or tempura?

Haha, yes definitely no sea urchin. I am looking forward to try the tamago at Tsukiji. This looks really good.

Oh my. Hahahaha! You have to show me SG/HK style. Are you not a garlic chives person? I was raised in a family where we put lots of garlic chives so this was really close to what I like and the sesame oil they use is very fragranced. The dumplings sold here are also filled with just meat (very lil' veggies or chives) which I don't like. Myeongdong Kyoja had a lot when I had mine - I hope it's still the same and they didn't cut down the chives portion!

It's probably just us because the place is really crowded. And it's got a michelin star I think. In SG/HK, the dumplings have prawns, so maybe we prefer that. Din Tai Fung's xiaolongbao is also all meat, but it is a little bit of meat so.....

Myeongdong Kyoja - Sorry! We don't like this 😂 Prefer the SG/HK dumping. The korean one is very meaty and just average to us. Although the dumping skin is very thin and the plastic steam container is unique and hygienic (SG uses bamboo so don't know how well they wash those). We saw people eating the noodles, which looks very thick and starchy.

BHC - how many of you were there for the fried chicken? 20 pieces is a lot for two of you!

Born & Bred - did you book it from Singapore or after arriving in Seoul? Glad you enjoy it. Will it feel too heavy (and too much) coz each course is almost all beef?

Haha, I didn't have time earlier. Sorry for the delay.

BHC - yes, it's quite a lot. But it's actually 10 wings because they split the drumlet and the wing part. So it is manageable.

Born & Bred - I booked in SG but quite close to the date we left. I think most popular restaurants have to reserve in advance these days. You get small pieces of beef for each course (like 2 bites for each serving) so it doesn't feel heavy. At the beginning, you think wah so little. But before the burger, we were already very full. There was soup and some dishes had sauce so it didn't feel too beefy at all.

I'm confused. Doesn't the hospital pay for these insurance fee, not the doctors?

It depends. If you work for a government hospital, the hospital will likely pay this and buy the insurance under the hospital covering all their doctors. But if you are private GP/Specialist, then you will have to buy your own.

Born & Bred was a good experience. Thanks @mademoiselle for the recommendation. Cost a whopping $350/pax but was worth it. You get to try various cuts of the Hanwoo beef (I've lost tracked of the different parts (some parts I don't even usually take but wth) but favourite is the sirloin/striploin) and also a variety of soup, noodles, rice etc. I think it was 20 course. At the end, the chef said we could ask for more helpings of anything but everyone was so full already! It's a speakeasy - down in the basement with 8 pax per table. I think there were 2 rooms. By the way, I know everyone hates Cha Jin Man and thinks he's unnecessary but I do think his character brought some social commentary on what real doctors go through into the storyline and it isn't so much just on the politics like in S2 (which is a rehash of S1). The issue about the doctors performing surgeries that has low percentage survival rate and how they are constantly being dragged into lawsuit are valid. From this perspective, he's just bit more focus on the doctors than the patients. The humidifier incident is also a real life incident as well (I was thinking of investing in one and now I'm scared 😅 coz I totally never thought humidifier could cause harm!).

CJM's character isn't just a 2-D antagonist, which I appreciate. Too bad really that they had to use this actor.

I thought the recent episodes highlighted a very crucial difference in the philosophy between Kim Sabu and CJM. Kim is patient-centric, and I would love to have a doctor like this trying to save me. But being so unorthodox at times, invites more risks that could lead to career suicide. I was surprised that WooJin had 11 lawsuits against him in the past year - didn't expect the show to give a sense of realism like this. CJM , on the other hand, isn't wrong with the calls he made to not operate. Logically speaking, and based on the situation , I think many RL doctors would have done the same.

    Agree with you both.

But I didn't like that they let him do the transplant for the girl and he got credit for saving her (although they didn't show it) when it was Kim Sabu who took the risk. It just seems that things just fall too nicely/easily for Prof Cha.

Yes he stood up for Dr Jung which was a surprise. But he did so blindly which is also not correct - he didn't even make the effort to find out what happened before his very defensive speech to the dead boy's mother. As head of the trauma centre, he should also have been mindful whose son it was that died since the woman decides the budget. And he should also be reviewing the events to see how such situations can be improved in future - I mean, surely the hospital has some fault if a person dies because no doctor saw him. It is irresponsible.

I think so too. My brother-in-law (who is a doctor) tells me that malpractice insurance is insanely expensive.

I have a relative who is practicing in LA. She chose to be an anesthetist. These are Singapore's malpractice insurance rates. US is probably many times this.

These days I think anyone thinking of being a doctor is insane because it's really not worth the time - 7 years studying then you have to do residency and extra to specialise in a field. It's crazy amount of time spent on studying and learning and in the end, you don't even know if you'll pass the test and if you don't, you'll just be a GP.

I know a GP who is driving a Porsche 😂 It's not a bad living since there is a lot less responsibility than a Specialist. But the hours can be quite punishing too. A lot of clinics work 9-9 with breaks in between, and including Sat. But some of the more established ones are deciding to have "work-life balance" so they follow office hours 9-5.

I was just asking that same question - why did they ask him to head the trauma centre! If it is really due to his hand, you know this Prof Cha is going to stay right? He is going to learn how to be a good head. We are going to have to like him! Hahahaha.

I don't know how Woo Jin does it. His one and only day-off, he goes for a run in the snow! *FREEZE* ~ It's cold over here (<10°C and raining) and I've the heater on and comfortably staying indoor and not wanting to bulge even though I really want to lose some weight.

Some people are like that. Exercise to them is a form of relaxation and they get joy from it. I aspire to reach that, while lying on my bed lol.
