  1. Did anyone watch this?

Plot is not bad. You don’t really know who is telling the truth. But very slow, not in terms of pacing, but rather as if filmed in slow motion - each scene lasts a long time, so if you watched at 2 or 3x speed it may seem normal haha.

    Great acting by all.

    8 episodes.

  2. @mademoiselle It looks like the upcoming Shanghai era drama may be quite interesting. He says he had to change to act in that. You should try it then let us know if the plot is good, before we start 😂

    Essentially, from the video:

    - He thinks he is not a naturally talented actor, thus he has to work hard.

    - His favourite seems to be Handsome Siblings, or maybe he thinks that helped him be more recognised.

    - He doesn't like to have too much free time haha

@Chocolate This is Chen Zhe Yuan's completed drama; not yet aired. I also don't think I would watch this xD although I do like that he has two identities and she fell for his human looking identity. Am not happy with the dubbed voices.

Hmmm, from the trailer, the actress is supposed to provide some comedy but it's not funny. So...

  4. @mademoiselle I did watch parts of those scenes, but with ffw so I got the gist but didn't want to dwell on the sadness.

Surprisingly, even so, there are parts where I cried, like when Sang Zhi gave him her 2 secret stars, and also when he thinks back to how she "suffered" when he didn't know she liked him yet.

And you're right. This drama brings back some memories from younger days. The hospital stayover reminds me of overnight chats with a person you like where you will reveal things you wouldn't normally in broad daylight. Those were good times.

I also liked Sang Zhi when she doesn't let herself be bullied. For most of the drama, she is quite shy in her secret crush. But when she splashed that cup of water in Jiang Ying's face, she was fantastic!

What I don't like though is that Jiaxu is nice to everyone. I like Ling Buyi type - mean to everyone and only nice to the one he loves! 😁

I hope you two at least stopped to watch Chen Zhe Yuan's crying scenes x 2!! They were good crying scenes

What crying scenes? I only see teary pink/red eyes lol.

I just wanted to see some of their teasing moments. It's such young love and both so innocent. When he gets close to her, it's quite exciting sometimes. But their conversations are mostly very dull, sorry - half the time, he is asking her to eat 😂 So a lot of FFWD. I think each episode only takes about 10-15 min to complete haha.

I watched the video you just posted. It was 6 min long. So that means I will watch this actor again if he appears in a drama with an interesting plot. But towards the end, there was an old clip which he said was embarassing for him - he looks very different. Did he have eyelid surgery lol?

  6. Start of EP 18

He says he will stay in the room and look at her while she studies.

She goes up close to him to let him see her clearly from the front, the left and the right!

    Then he grabs her close.

There is tension!!! (Although his posture could be better lol)

She says he must leave because he promised he won't interfere with her studies.

    :PsyWhat:

    Me: What's wrong with failing?????

I need some @Chocolate flavoured humour to keep me going... 😉

I haven't watched Sunday's episode yet but gather that the kiss was the highlight of the episode.

Looking at where Junho's left hand was at, at one point of the kiss, thumb just under her armpit, I would give it 50% for the rumours that they are a real couple! 🤣🤣🤣 🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂

Glad to have you totally about this drama.  I am quite invested for now.  I hope I can finish this drama

You should be able to. It's quite entertaining. Both leads are also strong in their own way and a joy to watch.

I've rewatched this so many times I've lost count lol. But usually, I start only from ep6 onwards until ep41, with some favourites in between eg 12 and 24 😍.

@gilaswan I've seen comments in other places that this is a "horror" show. It really isn't. There's certainly a lot of eerie music and people walking around in bad makeup. The odd jump scare here and there. It's more like The Sixth Sense -- a supernatural thriller police procedural grounded in history. The plotting and attention to detail is so far pretty good. Aspects of it remind me of the US show Grimm although this has much less of a fantastical feel.

Where more than a year ago, my weekends were spent climbing mountains (and chasing spies), this time, I am investigating vengeful ghosts (in broad daylight) with my mum

@gilaswan Liddi's method may help - watch in the day 😂

I don't remember the last time I've seen Oh Jung-se play a conventional male lead. He's known mostly as a character actor. I like him very much here though -- he's unexpectedly hot.

Hahahaha! I have thoughts of that too every time I see him walk around his very fabulous minimalist house in the black turtleneck 🤣

Hahahaha! I questioned the logic how there can be so many wandering ghosts all of a sudden

They've always been there. You just can't see them. Imagine.... as you walk home alone tonight..... 👻👻👻🤪😅

I like Kim Taeri and am looking for something to watch, but I think I'm gonna sit this one out... not my kinda genre

Aw, try it! It's good. It's not a screamfest, but you do get goosebumps. It's one thing to just see the ghosts around, but quite another to take out your mirror, then see the ghosts in the mirror just behind you! 🥶😅 But there is ample time to close your ears, and eyes if necessary haha.

I like this and think it is much better than Jirisan in terms of pace and plot. Are you watching @liddi?

From the synopsis, I was worried that Kim Taeri (Gu Sanyeong) would be acting demon possessed most of the time. Fortunately, she is not. She knows a spirit has latched on to her and is working with Oh Jung Se (Yeom Haesang) to solve that problem. Like most similar stories, it seems that the way to do so is to help the spirit fulfill her wishes so that it can leave. But this spirit is vengeful (not surprising given what she suffered) and seems to not want people to find out who she is. Plus I am wondering why SY's father left her that hair clip knowing that it belonged to the spirit.

Aside from the main plot, there are smaller/connected cases along the way. SY and HS are solving these from a folklore/spiritual standpoint. The detectives are investigating based on evidence. Both methods work and they merge. It's quite well done actually.

The only thing this drama lacks is star power. Or perhaps I am influenced by the news that Gong Yoo was first offered the lead role but declined. This I supposed then went to Oh Jung Se, who is a great actor so no faults there. But if it had been GY, likely that would have been some romantic suggestions/tension between the 2 leads. As it is now, it seems the drama is promoting a romance between SY and the younger detective. Not that romance is needed at all.

Maybe I'm writing the plot for them.

Haha, maybe yours will be better! Just googled and this is the writer's first drama. Given the "development" in 6 episodes, I'm not holding much hope that there will be significant improvement. I was prepared for a fluffy rom-com. At least I have a chaebol character to watch. But this chaebol is quite useless 😂 And what's with that leap from the cliff to the ledge??? Even the camera angle showed that he would have missed and bye bye lol.

@Chocolate If only they showed this before you went! I knew that you can go to the fish market, buy the seafood and take them to the restaurants upstairs to cook them, but I didn't know you could do that for the beef too. They went to Majang market. Not sure where that is without some research, but something to bookmark and visit with friends and family next time.

After seriously trying the Japanese Wagyu A5, I do think it is better than the Korean Hanwoo. And I haven't even tried the Kobe yet.

    Ate a lot. Update later.

No more 😂 Is the story any good?

@mademoiselle I'm up to date with King The Land but that story is soooo boring I have to FFW! He doesn't do any of the CEO things! Just keeps mooning over YoonA. And I keep staring at the mole on his nose 🤣

  15. Netflix Cryptically Responds To Netizens' Protest Regarding Lack of Female Cast in 'Squid Game 2'

Netflix has officially announced there will be an additional lineup announcement for Season 2 of 'Squid Game'.

On June 19th, an official from Netflix said in an interview with a Korean media outlet, "We still can't announce yet whether a female cast will appear in 'Squid Game' Season 2." However, the official added, "Additional lineup announcement will be released soon."

Earlier on the previous day (18th), Netflix released a lineup video for Season 2 of the hit series. Notably, in addition to the appearance of actors from Season 1 such as Lee Jungjae, Lee Byunghun, Wi Hajoon, and Gong Yoo, newly added actors such as Im Siwan, Kang Haneul, and Park Sunghoon and Yang Donggeun were officially announced for the first time.

However, some domestic and foreign fans can't help but ask Netflix one important question: where are the female cast members? Even in Season 1, a number of female cast members including Jung Hoyeon, Kim Jooryeong, and Lee Yoomi showcased their phenomenal presence in the drama and proved themselves to be absolutely necessary characters in the series. While some Netizens said, "There is no way there's no female cast, additional casting is likely to come out soon," others have shown their confusion as no female actress has been named in the lineup so far.

@Chocolate This is not a genre I enjoy (then again, I said the same thing about zombies in Kingdom, and see where I ended!). Am not familiar with the director (didn't watch VIP), but will definitely check it out because of KEH, whom I trust to make it far more than mere gratuitous horror, not to mention the strong cast. Keeping fingers very crossed that this will be yet another of her works which I love. Just one question. How much of it will I be able to watch and analyse if I spend most of my time hiding behind my hands and peeking through my fingers?

Incidentally thanks for reminding me... just as I previously subscribed to iFlix for Signal, Netflix for Kingdom and iQiYi for Jirisan, I have just subscribed to Disney+ Hotstar for Revenant

I was going to terminate my Disney+ after Dr Romantic 3 ended, but can't now too 😂

Look forward to your thoughts later.

@Chocolate Did you like this hairstyle more or the open fringe a little more?

Sweep up like this is better.

I don't like the fringe parting showing a little forehead - most of them look better all up or all down.
