  1. Awww, this is why we created this space so we can still chat about our favourite characters and actors and how cute they were. I'm going to miss this drama for sure, especially when it gets to that stage when the news, interviews etc dry up noticeably But till then, KTO seems determined to not let us forget him. I think it's always hard for the female leads if the male leads become too popular because there's so many different groups of people to please - there's the fans who do hardcore ship and then the fans who only like the actors by themselves and are anti-ships. There's the fans who liked them with a past pairing and will be disappointed if they look too comfortable with another actor. Then there's the more regular fans who would like to see cast chemistry between the leads. As a vetran actor, promoting a drama that is more about the personal growth of someone who lives with autism, I think PEB was very careful (and rightfully so) not to sell the behind the scenes as a romance. But with that said, KTO and PEB are both cute when they go through the scenes anyway and it's a very natural and not overbearing way or as a put-on-act. Cast chemistry naturally comes out if actors are hanging together and having a good time My theory on why no EAW couple shoot I have never been able to work this one out with K-Dramas because sometimes the best K-dramas get no photoshoot and sometimes K-dramas that do poorly get one If I had to guess, I would say it was a scheduling thing between the agencies, the actors and the magazines. Obviously, a magazine has to be prepared monthly and they often plan their spreads in advance and they only have limited space to feature a drama. When they do feature an acting pair, I guess they have to contact the agency/ agencies to figure out a time when both actors can do the shoot. So it's not always easy to organise. Most of the time they do the photoshoot before a drama comes out based on how popular or vanilla they think a drama will be. I think with EAW people were not sure how it would do because again the drama was not sold as a sugary romance, but more as a legal/ personal growth journey...so I don't think the magazines thought about doing a photoshoot. But then, the drama did amazingly well...but by that time the magazines had already booked in their models/actors for other shoots. And while it is possible to do a shoot after a drama ends (Eg. they did a shoot for My Liberation Notes leads after the drama ended because this series was well recieved)...by the time EAW was popular, PEB and KTO would probably have been booked out solid as individuals. There's been a million individual PEB and KTO commericials and individual interviews that are coming out now which would have been filmed/ photographed/ conducted a few weeks ago...so I think it would have been extremely hard to have booked both of them together then, especially because they are from different agencies. Another reason is that cover shoots/ magazine spreads often (but not always) goes to actors who are both well known. Kang Tae Oh has only transitioned into being a lead recently...like he's been second lead more often and of the very few, short first lead roles he did, he was either not a nice character or not a high profile role. So they would have overlooked him. But not anymore now! That's why I'm ok with a 2nd season if it does happen because the chances have increased of a couple actor shoot
  2. Hello! Welcome, welcome @Yunn! We love having new people for chats so that we can all fangirl together Happy to talk all things PEB x KTO and WYW x LJH, so please feel free to share anything to want to about these 2 - thoughts, pictures, gifs, new findings @abs-oluteM and I are more than a little obsessed with Kang Tae Oh at the moment. I'm also a long time Park Eun Bin fan. Aaaand we're pretty chill and non-judgemental about how everyone wants to view PEB and KTO together - whether full shipping or just appreciating the beauty of their characters & how they acted I'm just in the middle of writing another essay about more thoughts I had on PEB x KTO and Behind the scenes...because both of them are currently living in my head rent free.
  3. But she's biased against this ship because it's too sugary for her ... She only likes her forbidden ships. Is it forbbiden if KTO is not allowed any love in the military? Hahaha you better not curse my PEB and KTO *still continues to deny shipping* Wait a second, you started that thread?! But Do You Like Brahms? was a total sugar fest! Ohhhh, that explains everything. It was a fake ship for Tea
  4. Ohhh, yes, these shots kept popping up. I was confused because I thought that was his co-star from his On Your Wedding Day Chinese remake film. But it's not her! oh @abs-oluteM you have not been fangirling from a distance with KTO at all Nah, you don't need distance. You need an open door policy like me. If they disappoint you majorly, you just kick them out the door and lock them out forever But so far, I think I've picked them ok. Long term marriage-like love for Jasper has lasted for 10 years now, though he abandoned me when he went to China and made not so interesting dramas Now that I've said that, I better not wake up to some major scandal *Looks at the open door* Well let's just hope that KTO ended any past relationships on good terms and was nice to his classmates. He seems goofy and good natured enough (these are the qualities I like in a lot of my favourites: Jasper Liu, Paul Fu, Lee Je Hoon etc etc These ones have all been acting 10-15 years peacefully+) Hahaha @mademoiselle LJW is a good kisser and it always looks nice with him on-screen
  5. Prepare for my lunchtime essay about my thoughts about Park Eun Bin & Kang Tae Oh crumbs. (I have obviously read too much about them both and also over analysed this....but at least it's more speculative and not delu) Haha, so coming from Taiwanese dramaland where all the actors (even introverted ones) are super into taking selcas with ther co-stars, are organically playful in all behind the scenes and will generally tease each other in interviews (..And then half the time, Taiwanese actors actually do end up dating and the paparazzi were right the whole time)....I often feel like Kdramaland shipping is pretty bland in general in comparison, no matter who the actors are (again, not that I ship actors) But I think if people are looking at PEB and KTO, their off-screen chemistry is pretty cute and the crumbs are all embedded in the behind the scenes videos...and I will explain why below: Maybe it's because they're both similar personalities or maybe it's because their characters have a lot of romancey-touchy-feely scenes, but they're both pretty comfortable around each other and as you say, it seems pretty organic even though those types of scenes might be awkward for some people. I feel like PEB likes teasing him more than past co-stars - she likes to say his lines are cheesey and she play-slaps him and teases his hugging methods by hugging him back and jokes that they had no idea what he was talking about when he saw dolphins - but all in a good natured and fond way I think KTO is also quite playful. Often in the past, he didn't have such a strong romance lines with his co-stars and so he was quite chatty in the behind the scenes. In EAW, he has so many shooting scenes with PEB that it feels like the 2 of them really learnt to adapt to each other's personalities, with or without words. With PEB, it feels like he really follows her pace when she's more reserved but also plays along with her when she's more energetic and hyper - I feel like you really saw this with the Dolphin interview...PEB was super chatty so KTO was matched her moods. And I agree, he probably admires her especially since she's such a good actor, an acting senior and is so gracious. In terms of crumbs outside of the behind the scenes, I think with both KTO and PEB's past projects, it felt like there were more crumbs because there was more promotions for their past projects and promotions that made the stars act coupley. For example, I don't think KTO really posted any personal selcas with Soo Young during Run On but KBS ran a competition where they gave out these cute polaroids where they posed like a couple, so of course that sort of thing becomes a crumb. Haha, it probably helps that Soo Young is openly in a relationship too, so ppl don't really read into things. (PEB and KTO both present themselves as being single to the public, so I guess they also tread that fine line of balancing how close they are as actors/ friends to trying to look 'avaliable' for their fans). PEB had more photoshoots with her Do You Like Brahms and King's Affection co-stars and those magazine interviews and photos became crumbs. According to a lot of the more hardcore PEB fans, EAW was under-promoted with both co-stars together and some people were pretty upset about that because it meant less crumbs. Not sure why it would be under promoted, but I'm guessing the sensitivities of the topics of this series (ie. it's meant to be about the growth of a lawyer with Autism not simply a romance) and smaller channel may have played a role, then also some people saw it more as a legal drama than a romance at first and then probably both KTO and PEB might have had schedule clashes here and there. Hmmm, but if they do end up doing a season 2, you'd hope they would give them a photo shoot at least! But they did give them a final viewing event/ fan meet and that's pretty rare in Korea (in Taiwan there is a closing fan meet for every drama)! And it was nice to see KTO and PEB naturally interact together live as well. Haha, due to the mass of fan girls in the audience, and I think her feelings of being responsible for playing Woo Young Woo as the main character, I feel like PEB was just on best behavour. Like she still play-slapped KTO for pretending to cry , but I think she was really quite focused on interacting with the crowd. Also she seemed close to the writer, so there was that catching-up feeling as well. Whereas a lot of people commented that KTO was quite attentive to PEB, especially when it looked like she was going to cry - he looked like he could have hugged her and he was the one who said stuff to her when they were listening to other people's speeches...so I guess if you were looking for crumbs, KTO provided that night Oh and lack of selcas = this topic is funny because it can sometimes cause fan wars over nothing. Some people were a bit disappointed that neither of them posted a clear one of them together like they have with past co-stars. But I tend to think that photos are often taken due to managers/ agencies remembering to take them. I feel like PEB had quite few with Rowoon in TKA because everyone got excited whenever she was dressed in girlier outfits and made them take photos together. Still, there were some people who were salty with Namoo for not forcing a selca upon PEB and KTO amongst all the other things people felt they didn't do well to promote this drama compared to TKA But PEB did post lots with Hanbada crew and they seem closer all together as a cast. KTO said in an interview that he doesn't like taking photos and often his agency sends him stuff to think about posting. But he did post that cute one that MOC took of him taking sunset photos of PEB. Also we all know from the BTS that he's happy to be her personal photographer...And they mentioned in another interview, there's more unreleased photos on each other's phones, but they don't release it unless everyone consents...think of all that unseen KTO and PEB material in their phones.... Update: I also explain probably why there was no couple photoshoot in a comment further below on this thread if you feel like you neeeeeed to know :)
  6. Hahaha I feel like he's looking fineeeee Though they sure love strange poses these days What happened to simple shots like this... Hahaha, I see, I see. I will make notes from your list I realised that I wrote that I had watched Korean Englishman when I meant that I've never watched an episode. I'll give it a go sometime! I've also never tried Kimchi Hut i'm going to give it a go too - I was just in Glen Waverley yesterday and couldn't decide what to eat. Have to remember for next time! Yep, Seoul, Mokpo, Jeju -We bought multi-city tickets so we're flying out of different cities which is nice coz we can just travel one way! I'm like the opposite...I'm a food-liner-upper But usually it's because I already came across it on a blog or instagram and feel fomo if I don't try it, so it has to be done! this toast looks good though Oooh thank you for the recommendations. I will have to start my list now! If only it was as easy to organise my schedules for Oppa hunts as it was for food hunts Dammmmmn. He is also looking mighty fine I've never seen them before so likely to be new? Or maybe I just didn't notice? He's been in a few shoots recently. And his fan meet in Seoul is happening in September as well I think. It's him, Lee Je Hoon and Park Eun Bin doing their fan meets then
  7. Ok, I've given into my dark desires & started a thread for these 2 I would like to point out that I technically do not hardcore ship, but I love cast chemistry, especially between the leads of this drama...they had such a lovely on-screen romance and were pretty cute together off-screen when playing around and figuring out scenes together. In any case, this is a safe space to talk about Kang Tae Oh x Park Eun Bin // Woo Young Woo x Lee Jun Ho, whether you want to look for crumbs & ship wholeheartedly or just talk about how much you love the characters. Everyone has to be nice though! 🐳❤️🐋 Whale Couple 🐳❤️🐋 Lee Jun Ho x Woo Young Woo Kang Tae Oh x Park Eun Bin
  8. Hahaha from memory, the only good looking guys I saw in Seoul were on the train. One was super tall with glasses and on his way to work guessing from the way he was dressed. Haha it would have been nice to take a pic but I didn't do it coz I obviously didn't want to be weird or illegal. Also I was literally the only one with an Apple iphone when EVERYONE had a Samsung so it would stand out so bad Oooh snow. I'm not a skiier either so totally understand being in a cafe and keeping warm! But I do like winter and tend to travel a lot when it's winter. In fact when I use to travel more, some years I had 2 winters...I've been to Japan, China, Europe etc all in winter . it might be because I'm so use to the cold here so not as big a shock as it is for Malaysians! My cousins always think it's cold when they come down here so can't imagine them in the snow Haha I love Taipei...the weather reminds me of Malaysian weather too. Haha oh Lee Hom. What a mess! The whole city is so chill and easy to hang around - so many night markets. It's easily my favourite city in Asia. As for running into celebrities there, I've only run into Naomi Watanabe, but 3 out of the 5 times I've been to Taiwan involved going to Jasper Liu fan meets and 2 of those meets had the entire casts of his dramas so I feel like it's been easy to find celebrities there if you know where + when to go The fan meets were also free - it just involved lining up for best seat and kind of cool becausee it's at the actual TV stations so I've looked into Sanli before I'm surprised you went into a random chicken store! I thought you would be into reseaeching best chicken shop as a foodie I remember we had one I found recommended by a blogger and we happened to pass it after dinner one night so we bought it, but were too full to enjoy the food and of course the next day the chicken was not as good as when it was fresh out of the fryer I don't like Nene or Gamis eiher...I only go when it's a friend making me go for a friend gathering. I've also watched Korean Englishman before...should try it out to make a food list before I travel next year. I can't wait to eat there I know right! I'll be there in winter again In Feb. No skiing will be involved! I feel like all my favourites will be on break...not sure when s2 of Alchemy of Souls will come out, but maybe if that's out then, LJW might be doing promos? But I think it's likely to come out in Dec/ Jan I'd love to walk into some Kdrama filming, but knowing my luck if that ever happened I'll run into an Oppa I don't care about But I will be going to past Kdrama filming locations. If it's a fun place, I enjoy going to the filming locations because it's cool to see them in real life. So I'll be going to Mokpo (where they filmed DDSSLLS and left the set and where the museum that was used for Hotel Del Luna is).
  9. Wow, you've been twice? I went like several years ago...and to be honest it was one of those periods where I wasn't watching many Kdramas...so who knows, I might have run into a celeb and not noticed RL ones? what's that stand for...real life? Haha maybe I need to look up what fashion events/ film openings are happening to increase chances This was so much easier in Taiwan!
  10. Yessss, I feel so much more confident that they'll have to if they want a successful second series. He's carrying half the show along with PEB and they just can't wipe out their love story like that No prizes for guessing who I'd pick! Lee Jae wook's costume is fantasy historical, but he still looks cool *Not biased at all Speaking of which, I don't know who I felt more jelly of...the fans in the front row of the EAW viewing event who got to be this close to PEB and KTO or the fans who accidentally ended up near the Lancome event who saw LJW (and apparently Suzy as well!) Why dont we live in Koreaaaaa.... I'll be there for a holiday next year, but like @mademoiselle my chances of running into my faves is very very low
  11. And then there's me who has only been on the hardcore bender with Extrardinary Attorney Woo Young Woo Sorry not sorry about your Twitter feeds tonight as I'm sure I tweeted everything I could find on that final fan meet/ watch party...y'all know how much I love a good fan meet right? And how much this drama got under my skin...honestly this combination is dangerous! After the pain from episode 13-15 (actually even some parts of ep 12), I was not expecting much. But the show actually did really well for a final episode. I am often highly critical of final episodes due to the number of botched eps I've had to endure *cough Monthly Home Magazine, Dodosolsollalasol cough* but this one did all the things and it felt warm. Even all the hatable characters turned out not to be so hatable! Haha KTO just be everywhere! I hope they do give him plenty of CFs since that's where the money is at So happy to see him and PEB in such high spirits today. And so many cute photos. If only they would give them an official photoshoot. RE: cake video = hahaha what was he even thinking
  12. Hahaha annoying...who me? Like you abs, I have no self control whatsoever at the moment...it's a steady stream of KTO, PEB and EAW I would apologise...but I'm just paying back for all the Oppas everyone else posts which turns up on my newfeed (haha, jks, jks, I'm sorry I can't stop... I'm a little ashamed that my obsession runs soooooo deep, but what can you do except get it out of your system by tweeting every picture, video and pretty gif you see, right? ) Yes! I've read the books before for school, but also because I love classics and I'm mystiified how this is an adaptation of the same book! I did read that the writer wanted a sexier version of that story with like greed and corruption or something like that...so looking forward to seeing what they've done. Also I really like Nam Ji Hyun
  13. Hahaha, I can't deal with this either. I can barely deal with Kpop as it is, let alone early Kpop with cheesey moves I prefer if they're like band boys or something like that. Would totally be into it if they could play guitar and sing nice Twinning: I was thinking about how our tweets must look very similar at the moment and everyone that follows us must be getting double the KTO content on their feeds Haha, it's not long till he goes to the military and then the drought will put a pause to our obsessive behaviours...I think My indiviudal tastes: I feel guilty for not paying as much attention to LJW who is actually currently on screen The drama is pretty good as well for an epic fantasy and the humour is fun as well. But I'm just not as obsessed with it as EAW Hmmm, not sure what happens after EAW - aside from Today's Webtoon and Little Women...I actually don't know if there's that much I wanna watch in the immediate future Might end up dipping back into Taiwanese dramas since they're giving one of my fave second leads his own drama....I miss how close Taiwanese actors are to each other + how much fan service they provide + how many stories they share about their lives.. Haha, everyone in the EAW fandom is angsting over the fact that PEB and KTO don't have many photos together or a photoshoot = this never happens in Taiwanese dramas. They're all really into their selcas, haha, espcially with whoever they're acting with Korean actor interviews are also often very, very surface level information, like what flavour ice-cream they like or some trivial fact about the drama, which is fair enough given how judgemental ppl can be and how big their audiences are...they deserve privacy... I'm sure Taiwanese stars still do maintain a surface level, but a lot more personal stories about growing up or being in relationships or being an actor/ knowing other celebrities are often shared ( or rather, overshared ) But the trade-off as @SilverMoonTea says, watching these small industry J-dramas or Tw-dramas, fangirling is more lonely
  14. What...have I just witnessed? Your plans to put me off Kang Tae Oh aren't working, Tea
  15. Hahaha, I feel like there actually use to be more romance dramas when I started watching in like the early 2010's But I think it's more that these days romances can get quite sappy (in the past only 1 freeze kiss per drama whereas these days more affection is shown). Hahaha, I think you enjoy the romantic tension and chase @Alice Wonderland but not the actual explicit dating annd conflict part Yay! You've adopted NYS. Isn't he so pretty? It's that tiny dimple in the corner. I'm a terrible fan btw - I have not started this yet, but I might make a start today. I had a few weeks where things in real life threw me off drama schedule...and then I got really into EAWYW obsession mode and I haven't come out of that. Haha, I think this always happens when I have some really challenging things happen in real life and then a super cute pairing comes along with a comforting storyline. The same thing happened with Weightlifting Fairy, Doldolsolsollalasol, Pleasantly Surprised...it's the perfect storm for me to become super obsessed with a drama And then that obsession got worse when the drama sit the angsty episodes last week because now my comfort has been taken away! But since there's not much I can do about it until the final episode air next week, may as well start this series, which looks comforting in a different way Anyway Kim Sejeong and Nam Yoon Su just look so cute. I love them both! Hahahahaha oh @Tofu it's very nice of you to keep Tea company in her lonely fan girl journey
  16. Ughhhh, MW's character. I really dislike him, but I'm ok with redemption arc since he's a more complicated character than say Hanbada CEO. I think the shock he felt when he saw TSM want to sabotage her own daughter made me think he's not all bad...but then he was horrible and nearly got WYW into huge trouble in the next episode But then they shed some light on his background, it also felt complicated again and since they've bothered this far, they may as well have him turn a leaf. But I think he needs to be punished first and take responsibility for being a bad person / doing illegal things. With that said, I did still think that in episode 13 when everything felt depressing, MW's scenes were the funniest and I couldn't help but enjoy that religious/ Blackpink scene. Hahaha. Oh and when he's JH's support system.. That's the only time I find him useful In terms of the MW-SY romance, I'm not supporting it either. At the start I was indifferent - I guess my thoughts are it's not like they didn't hint as it early on.But then MW turned out to be so rotten by crossing 2 important ethical lines: 1) with the bulletin board 2) with the illegal actions of sending those doc so it's very hard to care about him having a love line. And then SY's character has been so cool and nice and on her own journey. And because they didn't consistently establish anything between the 2 of them anyway throughout the series, now it seems forced and sudden. Also, was it just me, or did everyone else think that SY's list of reasons why MW was 'nice' sounded really bland? Sure JH's character is exceptionally empathetic and kind, but I wasn't even measuring using that yardstick....But things like buying flowers from an old lady or seeing a bug in her cup and changing it....um, I think it's passably nice, but not anything that is worth developing a crush on...or at least you would need A LOT of these moments (not just a week's trip) before you decide it's a real crush? Unlike JH + YW who ate lunch daily and hung out, I didn't even think MW and SY spent that much time together outside of work anyway? But if they go down that storyline, honestly it's not even the pairing that bothers me as it does with other people, it's the waste of time suddenly promoting a second pairiing rather than speanding story telling time examining and fixing the story for the main couple. It's so pointless because we didn't watch this series for everyone to get into a couple - we watched it for the first couple. And there's so much work that needs to happen before the main couple get into a comfortable stage of their relationship. Instead, it's going to get wasted on promoting a half baked second lead romance which overtakes the main romance. I just want the first couple to have a proper development, not this time-wasting subplot.
  17. Ahhh thanks for sharing! Looking forward to his solo photoshoot! I was hoping for a shoot with both PEB and KTO even though it was very late because it still happened for My Liberation Notes, but I know these things are rare if they don't happen at the start, especially now that they have a busier schedule. I'll never understand who they give photoshoots to and why because a lot of popular dramas get passed over, whereas a lot of mid tier dramas get photoshoots and they only end up being liked averagely? Drunk Jun Ho was soooo adorable! I cannot even with him. Hmmm, I think yes because it'd be too much to kill him off! Also I think the just introduced this subplot to make viewers hang on and watch what would happen in the last episodes. It still makes me a bit nervous since WYW talks about the death rate, but I also realise that she's just being direct and factual as she often is and they're probably also conveninently putting those lines in to make viewers continue watching as well (aside from the cliffhanger in the main relationship). This is so annoying. Honestly, I wanted her to be a good character since she talked Myeong Seok into accepting WYW. But her actions are so selfish and manipulative that it's gross. It's her, Min Woo and Tae Sumi that are just the worst in this show While I don't agree with dad letting her be used, I also see why he did that because he's desperate to secure some sort of security for her. But I don't know if it makes sense because wouldn't he be worried about what Tae Sumi would do if she got dethroned? It's putting YW in danger too. But I guess people don't think about these things when they're desperate. Hahaha I think given that they're holding a fan meet for the finale episode with the actual actors and directors present with fans, it's unlikely that it will be a 2521 style ending. People would be outraged! I think it'll either be a happy ending or a happily implied open ending. Personally, I would prefer a happy ending for this series. But I just don't know how it'll pan out in execution with the pacing of the series...I feel like they wasted episode 13. Episode 14 (which I'll write about soon) was back in terms of pacing and I accepted the way the break up was shown because it was needed to give some realism to the series, but because of wasted time from last ep, it still means less time to resolve some very big story points (ie. WYW's reveal as TSM's daughter, what she'll decide to do abt her job, MW's plotting) including also some newer plots they suddenly introduced (ie. Myeong Seok's illness, SY+ MW's thing), so there's not a great deal of time to iron out all of the nuances with YW + JH.. Even if it gets a happy ending, it could still feel rushed which won't be as satisfying. But with this said, I'm willing to take a happy ending in any way at the moment because I think I'm too invested now, I love PEB + KTO / WYW + LJH too much and I'm just so anxious about them splitting up
  18. I haven't seen it yet...15 mins till netflix drops it here. Haha since I haven't cancelled my subscription yet, better make use ot it BUT I did see a clip of the breakup scene released and it looked very very lonely. I didn't understand without subs, but already I feel like I'm going to be so sad for him because it sucks to feel so deeply for someone but to have a lot of uncertainty because they can't respond to your emotional needs as well as you need them to...and it's not because they don't want to, or don't feel the same way about you, but they don't necessarily have the ability to do it. Honestly, watching this has made me grateful that I am pretty good at reading people and understanding emotions. I think we take these things for granted because we do them so naturally. The thought of not being able to read between the lines or to engage with people's feelings really scares me actually - I felt so sad and uncomfortable when WYW met JH's sister. Anyway, be back wth more thoughts after I watch this. I really hope there's a happy ending. If not, this year might be one of the weirdest years for romances where most of the really big, popular series caused deep heartbreak for fans. I will just go into denial about the last half of this series the same way I did with DDSSLLS It's the only way i cope with all the Kdrama traumas
  19. Episode 13 (Again) I was bothered while I watched the episode, but I couldn't quite verbalise in what ways..and I tried to be positive about the parts I thought were ok after I finished watching (which was at like 3am).. But the more I thought about it, the more I understood why. I ended up writing this on reddit which I've pasted below: I felt episode 13 had a number of issues: poor pacing, character inconsistencies & exaggerations and the focus of an unncessary secondary romance to replace the first one, insead of developing the first romance properly. Don't get me wrong, there were elements of the story that were still warm and funny. But overall, the more I thought about it, the more I felt meh about this particular episode. Pacing: With 3 more episodes to go, I feel like the drama has introduced a number of diffiicult story elements to tie up . The more ideas are introduced, the more time needs to be dedicated to each storyline to give them justice. The whole scheme with Min Woo and the mum has been up in the air and you don't know if it'll actually happen although MW was doing illegal things to try to get YW to quit. They haven't progressed or resolved hat storyline yet, but now they're wasting his screen time to give him an unneeded romance. This doesn't advance the original storyline and even worse takes away from the time that could be used for YW & JH. The introduction of Myeong Seok's illness also felt ominous to me. If it's too serious, it's going to be a tragedy, if it's just a minor health scare, ir's going to feel like they were tricking the audience and wasting time. It also feels odd to have spent many episodes not giving much development to the side characters, because they are there to support Young Woo's journey, only to have Young Woo's journey paused and their's put into the spotlight. It just feels...a little half baked for both Young Woo and each of the side characters since it didn't happen right from the start. If they wanted to develop the side chracters, it would have made sense to pace the stories together. Character inconsistencies & exaggerations: I love Woo Young Woo + Jun Ho. I think Jun Ho is such a great, empathetic male lead character and I'm a big fan of Kang Tae Oh as well. But it seemed really inconsistent that he didn't tell his sister to prepare kimbap for WYW, knowing full well she doesn't eat anything else? I thought that if they wanted to show conflict with the sister there could have been other ways ie. if Jun Ho gave her a lunchbox of kimbap and the sister took offence as WYW not trying her cooking. But it seemed like a weird way to force a reason for Jun Ho to have an argument with his sister when this problem could easily be solved by prearranging kimbap - and we know Jun Ho is good at thinking ahead since he researched what to do in en emergency...? But even with Woo Young Woo's character and her best friend's character, I felt like they were reduced to single traits = ie. WYW = whales, Geurami = acting very childish. It made me a little sad because I usually love the characters, but I didn't feel like they were their normal selves this episode? The focus of an unnecessary secondary romance to replace the first one: This drives me a little mad as it seems to happen in every second drama: They decide to develop the romance of some second or third leads and break up the main couple. Then the second leads either do very romantic things or get married...whereas the main leads are seperated for the last few episodes until 5 minutes at the very end after a 5 year time jump! I don't understand why this happens, but it's a waste of time because very few, if any, people care about that side romance and it's a waste of story-telling time when you could be showing the healthy and relistic development of the main character's relationships, instead of making them do weird, rushed things like avoid each other or deny they were together. It's frustrating to have to watch 'compensation' romances when you could have the real thing
  20. Episode 13 Ughhhhh, that was sooooo angsty! I feel slightly sick from watching to be honest due to anxiety I mean, I was expecting it given episode 12 and the previews, but this still went down the dark path I didn't want to go down. The good: - Even though it was a dark episode, the series has still managed to retain it's warmth this whole time and of course, it's nice to see WYW+JH still the same after their conversation. JH was so adorable when he looked forward to seeing her come in and then he was also really adorable when he was pouting that he was still hurt. - I also really appreciate that JH did not back down to his sister and was fighting for his right to date who he wanted I can see the break up will be WYW 's initation though and I don't blame her after what she overheard - I think this episode had a lot of lessons about not being so obsessed with work and appreciating life outside of work -Haha, it's the first episode I actually enjoyed watching Min Woo in. Sure, he's a jerk but it's a bit like the monk said...there are a lot of things you can't see from the surface, and I guess there were pressures and reasons Min Woo became who he was. And honestly my favourite moment in the whole episode was not a WYW+JH moment, but actually a SY+MW moment...especially this moment: The Bad: - Ughhhh Myeong Seok is really really sick I hope they don't kill him off. I suspect it's actually just a catalyst for WYW hitting Hanbada in the end and going down a different path. But Still! - I wish there were more deeper moments between WYW and JH. It felt a little unresolved, with little bits of comic relief like her first place ride and then there was tension...so I don't know if I felt as happy about the progression this episode. But I understand they were making time to shed some light on some of the other side characters and it's a fine balance to do everything along with have a case iin the middle - Ughhh, the meeting with the older sister was so painful on so many levels. I was cringing from stress and akwardness. The judgement from the sister, WYW's painful attempts to impress her, JH's confusion - The trailer! What is this talk about a breakup!
  21. I totally agree! I was ok with the split in 2521...but if they pull one on us in EAWYW, I will be sooo upset I suspect there's going to be some turbulance since eps 13-14 are almost always angsty in most dramas, but I hope it's still happy progress together in th end as you said. Maybe living together and doing mundane things in a cute way together is one of my favourite ways to tie up a drama. Hahaha, we've all turned into Woo Young Woo when she's in the car checking out Jun Ho's veins Haha sorry to leave you lonely Tea.... I haven't watched a J-Drama in years! I think the last one was Good Morning Call or Happy Marriage ...But even if I watched can't gurantee that I would like Tomoya Nakamura. He doesn't look like my type, but I reserve judgement since I've never seen him act or interview. My one Japanese Oppa is Dean Fujioka and I haven't even seen his recent stuff yet! Have you ever found a J-Drama discord or anything like that? I got invited to a Tw drama discord when I commented on something on My Dramalist which made it wayyy less lonely when I was obsessed with Rainless Love in a Godless Land ...A lot of people there were into Tw dramas and liked Paul Fu (But I've since disappeared due to being back in Kdramaland these past few months ) Oh right, I've been meaning to ask @abs-oluteM or anyone else who knows - I'm locked out of the JH discord and when I try to click it says I have an existing account. Is there any way to reset it?
  22. Hahaha ok I think I can do this! It's saved for military drought time when I'm missing KTO and even a toxic version will fulfill the craving I don't particularly need fairytale endings with these types of dramas if they're 'realistic' - going down the wreckage path. But I will be such a tragic if EAWYW doesn't go down a happy being-together path. Again, I don't need a wedding or anything. But I just need them to be as happy as they are in their behind the scenes videos Who, me? Can't be helped! I waited a looong time for this baby to get back on screen @Tofu Haha, fine, fine, I will talk about someone other than Kang Tae Oh...Here's an Oppa you will understand: I just found out that they're giving Simon Lian a lead in a SETTV drama!!! It's been a looong time coming. He gave me such bad Second lead syndrome in Lost Romance. I still like that he ended up with his first love which turned out to be Puff The drama is called Happy Enemy which sounds strange, but meh, I will at least try it out first https://mydramalist.com/734833-happy-enemy SETTV's drama account has lots of little reels of him and co-star (don't know the girl) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgmVcmSrzv8/?hl=en
