  1. So sorry! I meant to put up my goodies today, but recently a lot of things happened in my real life. I still plan to share DDSSLLS goodies this week I'll tag y'all :)
  2. It is so disturbing! I have to say I only watched a handful of episodes because a friend made me, but episode 1 was the worst. It involves a really disgusting incident which has scarred me for life. I would suggest to anyone who wants to torture themselves to watch that show to skip the first episode Yeah I think if I had watched more dog movies, I might actually have cried in more films/ dramas. Haha, I would watch Marie and Her Puppies, but then I would have cried in 6 movies Hahaha, I'm sorry! I just like making lists I think these are more patterns that I've noticed about the dramas I've picked to watch over the years rather than a strict list of criteria. There are times I try something (eg. Sageuk) and it's ok, I don't mind it. But most of the time, I know these things subconsciously shape what I pick. Haha maybe we are just twins in what we dislike Pacing is so important! I think drag and filler events in plots really let down a lot of good dramas. If the writers had paced the events more evenly, they wouldn't need to have fillers? Hahaha...well that's good. I was beginning to wonder if I was Edward Norton or Brad Pitt if I was having Fight Club hallucinations Oooooh This is really cool! Thanks for making something fun out of my lists @mademoiselle! Actually this is a good list of dramas for me to avoid and try respectively I really enjoy reading through them...you have such an extensive list of shows you've seen. I forgot also to add that I don't like medical dramas also This was weirdly me and Abyss . It was sooooo bad. But I watched the whole thing! These are perfect for relaxing I like them too. Depends on mood and situations though. Romance issues in real life are putting me off Rom coms at the moment. I'm preferring violence and revenge in the form of Taxi Driver Basically nothing without Hyun Bin Yes! I totally agree this was a smart idea Hahaha, ah the irony. And you're so right. This applies to my dear Dodosolsolalasol. I don't normally care for weddings, but why didn't they just give them a wedding That writer had such a decent script...and then they went on crack. Whaaaaaaaaat??? There are so many great films out there. Parasite. Minari. Man from Nowhere. Burning. Baseball Girl. I Can Speak. Miss Granny ....I think I've listed some of my favourites from different genres. If you ever change your mind, there you go.
  3. Episode 5 - This is my favourite series at the moment because of Lee Je Hoon and the overall sense of justice being dished out and the aesthetic/ music for this series. I actually like violence in series where characters are on an even tier (ie. bad guys, gangsters v gangsters) but I cannot stance violence when it's part of abuse (towards women, children, animals or someone weaker.) This series meets that abusive-violence with justice-violence, so it makes me happy -I am really liking the hacker GE. She's so sassy and can send the men around her into fear I laughed so hard when CEO Jang apologised for his misuse of power to KDK. I liked @ryanallright's article - it's true that this was a really good role and a shame LNE lost it due to scandals because this would have been a stepping stone. GE looks like she'll have her own possible revenge arc or at least a focus on her backstory/ development? -I also laughed when KNA's office man said that the Deluxe Taxi looked like the work of *Batman* Technically, he's not wrong! It's the same favour of justice that's for sure. -The dream at the start of the episode was so scary and disorienting! But I like the mystery and the trauma that surrounds KDK - so far we see him a lot in character getting revenge for others, but I hope we see him seriously addressing his own issues as well - Me every episode: Why is Lee Je Hoon so hot?? Two seconds later, laughing at his dorky glasses wearing revenge character persona - This week's baddies made my blood boil once again. The level of abuse was awful to those new employees and it made me feel sick that they used the main victim as a human punching bag and baseball practice stick after he had quit the company and deleted a comment he'd made -Maybe this one gets me bad like the first episode because once again there's a huge difference in power between the new starters and the bosses. Personally also, I like my work and care so much about the people I work with that I couldn't imagine being in such a scary, dangerous, lonely and stressful situation and having no one able to support you or save you -But I look forward to what this badass is going to do to avenge our victim:
  4. Hahaha it sounds like you have a complicated relationship with time-travel dramas My favourite TW drama is time travel - but they did a good job with time travel logic so I liked it. I have seen stuff where the time lines were too confusing or had huge logic plot holes, which like you said, would zap your energy trying to follow I've given you the key for luring Haha, but I'm pretty easy to please and not as fussy as @Dhakra I haven't seen the latest episodes of Daebak yet! Fell behind this week And I'm busy tomorrow, but I'll catch up soon. I really enjoyed the first 2 eps
  5. Join us!!! I'm behind on this week's episode but I enjoyed the first 2 eps! The ghosts are not scary-scary Yes they're terrible in my opinion! Well I avoid most of them. I feel like my version of your fussy list is this.... JenL's list of things that will make her avoid a drama (not limited to this though): -Horror and gore stories (except zombies) -Monsters stories -Melodrama -Makjang tropes -Sageuk -Abusive male 'romance' leads who get the girl -Super old dramas (Like 90's stuff) -Dramas with certain actors/actresses: Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun etc.. -Kim Eun Sook scripts -Anything with terrible pacing will kill me Obviously I avoided The King Monarch drama Hahahaha JenL's list of things that will draw her to a drama (not limited to this though): -Music themed stories -Cooking/food-themed/ restaurant stories -Warm small-town/ community stories -School/ college life stories (not all of them, but it is a pull card) -Nostalgia stories (ie. set in a time like the 90's, 80's, 50's) -Super cute romances (This is defined as very cute and playful, not overly mushy/melodramatic) -Slice of life / anything with an embedded philosophical message or idea -Vigilante/ law/ corruption/ gangster stories -Bad-ass/ lone wolf characters -Zombies -Things based on a webtoon -Dramas with certain actors/actresses: Jasper Liu, Lee Jae Wook, Park Eun Bin etc. -Anything with good plot twists wins points What weird things put people off or draw people to dramas? Please share For me, of the few I've watched, there were huge gaps in story logic which drove me crazy...for example, why is Gong Yoo's character punished for years and years over that one incident when there's wayyy worse humans in the world?? And also the characters themselves I find to be quite basic - only the very famous actors have brought them to life and injected their relationships with chemistry which is why her series are so popular LOL Well, I could be having Edward Norton Fight Club type hallucinations and you'd be another version of me Mmm I understand what you mean about starting late and making the night last forever...It's pitch black and past midnight which is why I'm writing my loooong posts here Better start making friends with those Maccas employees. "Hey kid, can you sneak us a shirt?" Ahhhh, I can function perfectly fine on very little sleep I'll be fine on 5 hours, but I do try to get 7 on weekends :) Hehe, midnight is not late at all. My optimum time to sleep is 2am But past that time, I do start to wilt a little as I don't pull all nighters. Woooo!!! But you finished it I totally agree with your opinion and you summed it up so nicely and succinctly in your last sentence...it was lacklustre and kind of pointless, but melodramatic at the end. Hopefully it's coming soon We currently have one with New Zealand, so that's a start
  6. Ahhh, I see. I guess giving it more thought it probably makes sense since Sweet Home is essentially a survival genre and there's usually more than one hero since it takes a team to stop the apocalypse or ensure the survival of (at least some of) the humans Hahaha Love Alarm reminds me of something that would come out of Black Mirror and I hateeee that show. I like dark dystopian stuff usually, but I was very seriously traumatised by the first episode But yeah, love and technology is a weird mix, though it is definitely a part of life today. Oh god, Stargazing dog or Hoshi Mamoru Inu made me cry one of 5 times. As in not get teary (which happens sometimes for me when I see a sad scene)...but actually bawl my eyes out (which as mentioned pretty much never happens) on a plane while travelling with a friend. My poor friend was so shocked because she'd never seen me cry before, let alone break down about a fictional dog in a movie The film is pretty sad from the start - a police/ detective team discover the corpse of a man and his dog in a van in the woods and they're investigating whether there was foul play. But what they find is the story of a dog so loyal to it's owner he never leaves his side even when things get bleaker and bleaker....in fact spoiler - the guy dies and the dog still brings food to his corpse and tries to keep him warm and then dies with him etc etc etc - The scene that ripped by heart out was from the dog's POV and memory of a happy time with the family while being attacked. It's rough emotionally, but it is aesthetic and warm until it gets bleak... OMG Mari and her puppies are so cute. I watched your trailer and I am tempted to watch. Hahaha then I might have cried for 6 films since your summary already sounds so so so sad. How could they leave her puppies behind?!?! Dogs are better than humans I liked Healer when I watched it but I don't have much of a memory about it now - it's like the story didn't make a big impression on me? Maybe it's because I'm becoming less and less tolerant of JCW That's nice though - you have real feelings! I do get the occasional one tear But to make me bawl my eyes out something has to make me very very very angry or sad. This is true - especially old Kdrama endings. I feel it's improved over the years, but still I'm often surprised at how many writers still fail to write a truly satisfying ending. And the occasional disaster still happens (*cough DDSSSLLS cough*). Open endings I can accept in certain circumstances, but I think if it's hard enough to end a drama happily, writing a satisfying open ending is a zillion times harder. And I think the genre needs to be a factor - it works with some slice of life dramas which are more realistic...but mysteries with open endings are a waste of everyone's time. Same with romances that are super sweet throughout the series but then crash and burn into an open ending HAHAHA I agree with this percent. So many series that are just popular but ughhhh.
  7. Ah yes, actually nostalgia made me forget that the second couple were irritating But the chemistry of the first couple and young Gong Yoo on screen live on positively in my mind This is so true...the conversations were soothing and I also love classical music in dramas so that probably got to me too. Yessss. I agree - I am loving the music as well as the visuals and story ideas. Everything is just super badass. It remind me a lot of Drive (with Ryan Gosling) but in the opposite direction - The character in Drive is a getaway driver for criminals but then changes his ways, whereas LJH is a vigilante taxi driver helping others to get revenge. I think they were inspired a lot by the music and styling of Drive, but instead of arthouse elements, they went with feel-good humour/ drama. Hahahaha. Are you me? I'm also a creature of the night and I tend to send my text messages then too!!! I'm more alive when the sun sets and for some reason have better ability to function...but I spend most of that extra energy watching dramas I'm not sure what I do in the day though? Work...what's that? Haha! I used to be a really big fan...and then I moved on to other actors/ singers. But I will check these out since I'm getting into him again due to Haunted Real Estate Thanks for sharing Hahaha if you consume Maccas at the rate you do, your dreams will come true one day....Have faith and have another Big Mac
  8. Hahaha I only watch dramas when the sun goes down I'm like a vampire (ghost? grimreaper?) I guess Well, this does sound like the main element I like about zombie-survival shows - a study of human nature... I just don't like monsters compared to zombies though (zombies more exciting and lame simultaneously. Monsters are just gross ) I'll try my best to finish it, but no promises Hahahaha you're not wrong. LJW would convince me, no problems Too bad he's not in it I do love LDH But is he only the side character to Song Kang in SH? I feel like Song Kang came out of nowhere (well out of Love Alarm which I avoided) and suddenly he's in every second drama this year. He is super hard working, I'll give him that But yeah, even his upcoming project "I know, but" doesn't strike any chords with me. But yeah, I see him becoming super popular. Yeah I felt like it's only survival in those times. It's not like you had real choices - we're so use to choice that we project it onto the past sometimes. But her character was not good at playing those mind/ strategy games that concubines play... which leads to tragic outcomes. Oooh I haven't! I'll put it on the list. I'm not a crier though. I've cried in like 3-5 movies over my entire life...I'm a bit soulless like that. But one time it was over that Star-gazing Japanese dog movie They hurt the dog and that hurt me. Hahaha this sounds like a school project
  9. Hahaha somehow my scam alert just heighted already. I was like, "Why is ad blocker not working on this dodgy looking message?" Whooaaaa so rich to donate points like this You just reminded me that I borrowed a book like 2 weeks ago and didn't start it! I'll start reading, but 25th April is too soon to write a review for a book I'm going to start tomorrow Maybe I could review an older book? Haha maybe we should read books about our Oppas. I like to look at Jasper's photobook Yasssss....I knew you would like it! Lee Je Hoon is just too damn cool. But also such a dork. It's a winning combination. I'm pretty sure I've used this gif on every thread in JH now I know right. Her shipper thread is a money making treeeeee Haha, loyal customer to Maccas even without BTS They should give you some lifetime service award with freebies
  10. Hahaha maybe we have somewhat similar taste then! I like a lot of these genres! And Weight Lifting Fairy is just one of those super-cute romances/ slice of life with warmth and humour that I love so much. But I'm still not going to recommend dramas to save my neck though I liked the Package too. Hahaha I was watching mainly for Yong Hwa, but like you said the story was a nice slice of life that made you think about life. It also introduced me to Park Yoo Na who I like. And the travel in that drama was so nice. I love how scenic it was
  11. Yeah she beat out all the other candidates for the offer so I think she definitely has talent I think. I'm also kinda glad he's being paired up with a rookie if not GAR because then she doesn't have many past projects that could taint what I think about her as an actress so far. She seems fresh and cool, so I don't mind this pairing and seeing how the drama pans out. Of Course DDSSLLS will always be my favourite though! Also since you liked Uncanny counter @eNDe did you know Yoo Jun Sung might be in this drama too? I'm liking this as a casting! Also put up a new Uncanny counter x Dodosolsolalasol meme up above You make a good point - I think in a fantasy, the romance becomes a sub-genre. My only hope is that fantasy story won't be cheesy or non-sensical. I always found Goblin to make no sense whatsoever, so it was so popular But Hotel Del Luna was quite well done in my opinion - not without flaws, but it was warm and funny and bittersweet in the right places, so if it's by the same writers, I hope they will go in that direction with LJW's new project rather than in the direction of some of their not-so-great projects! This is true - Lala has so much of the qualities that many manga heroines have. Even Jun does - that sort of tsundere side of him features in a lot of manga romance heroes. Haha, but I'm always sceptical of corss-cultural re-makes as I've never seen them capture the same essence as the original (though I guess they might please a whole new crowd). I think I'd love your idea of a webtoon though - since you put it in my mind I wish I could draw one myself...must be extra nice to my sister to see if she will try to make one Wow LJW's birthday signs have already been organised by his fans - probably done early to give him more chances to go take photos with the signs Well I am preparing my DSSLLS 5 month anniversary goodies, so come back and visit on the 26th!!! Missing them both
  12. Hahaha oh I never said I said introduced this drama ...Only that my work was done because I had supported my current favourite drama by throwing my support towards it fully Yes, these are my sentiments also!! I totally agree with you - I feel FOMO if I watch a drama and I LOVE it but there's no one around to share the same sense of love anymore But with that said, there are very few dramas that I love deeply. If I just enjoy and like the drama, but don't love-love it, then I'm fine to watch it anytime because that sense of FOMO won't be there...but it's impossible to know what you will be addicted to vs. what you will just enjoy (but can detach comfortably from) prior to actually watching the series To minimise risk it's like what @Dhakra says - better to watch live I can and do watch dramas that have finished airing though and I definitely make exceptions for dramas that everyone has loved in the past but that I missed (Janghaven peeps are good at talking about old dramas with me Especially @mademoiselle who I do trust for recommendations even though I don't bite for all of them!) But yeah, if it's like a drama from 10 years ago, I missed the boat and it's loooong gone now. Understandable! So much has improved over the years that it can be cringey and hard to focus on the story if you're not feeling the production quality. I started with Coffee Prince so it always has a fond spot in my memories. I also don't generally re-watch dramas so I don't think about how the production quality has aged and I have a hazy memory of the story - all I know is Gong Yoo spends a lot of time thinking he's going insane or changed his gender preference due to YEH dressed as a boy . One of the main things I love about Coffee Prince is that it has more of an K-indie/alternative soundtrack as oppose to K-pop. My taste in music is not popular for the K-drama world, so that drama was a gem. Also I visited the Coffee Prince filming site when I was in Korea and it was such a pretty cafe...such happy memories! ...Sorry you have to miss out, though I'm sure you're fine with not watching it! You have a lot of trust in Maccas! Hahahaha. I swear I finished Episode 2. But I'm not a fan of disgusting things like gore/suicide-cutting scenes/ monsters and that was pretty main central to the first 2 episodes ! The only exception to this rule is Zombie films/ genre for some reason I cannot explain Maybe it's because the guys are pretty hot in zombie genre - Gong Yoo (Train to Busan), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Jung Ga Ram (The Odd Family: Zombie for sale) I know Song Kang is your dear, dear Oppa...so don't hurt me when I say this...but he doesn't grab me with his looks or choice of projects. It's true that they look like solid dramas that will be meaningful/popular, but yeah no interest for some reason. Sorry I also find that weirdly enough I need to at least be ok with the actresses. Not really a fan of GMS or PGY for reasons unknown to me...it's like @Chocolate's aversion to Jang Nara Hahaha am I as fussy as @Dhakra yet? But you never know I might get around to finishing it one day. It is! I only watched it like 5 or 6 years or so ago at work and I loved it. I don't generally like concubine stories because it's like you said, the women's lives were so sad and they lived to please an old man without any freedom . But I think I loved it because of the story-telling - it was exciting and it was one of those stories where despite not liking any of the characters, I sympathised with them at different points of the tale, so I suppose they were quite rich as characters with their personalities and motives.
  13. Yeah, you gotta be around to make me care about you as an Oppa Wow, that's the first time I've heard of that happening. This is based on a webtoon right? Hahaha this is real? Wow! The power of BTS huh! Hahaha will you review McDonalds? Like this guy: https://metro.co.uk/2016/02/22/blogger-travels-the-world-reviewing-the-weirdest-specials-at-mcdonalds-5710506/ Maybe we should make a Maccas review thread here - share the responsibility of trying all the weird international McDonalds offerings. @Chocolate I did not watch Manhole , but I heard all the jokes about it that's for sure Hahaha abs can keep title as queen of recommendations. I don't want a stiff neck I've also already thrown Taxi Driver out there. That's my work done I can kinda relate to this. I can't binge watch either! Live watch is good for sharing opinions and not getting spoilers. But it can increase my likelihood to be v. v. v. addicted to a drama, especially if it has strong elements I like. I don't think I can watch any of the old old old dramas because the times have changed and everything from production quality to the values (ie. abusive guys that still gets the girl) makes me feel rage-y It's been on pause since Episode 2 for me. I'm not sure if I'll finish it Is it terrible if I say I'm not drawn in by any of those actresses either? Hahaha I was scarred by Zhang Yimou's Raise the Red Lantern - where the seemingly nice kind gentle one was the evil "face of Buddha, heart of devil" concubine.
  14. LOL what kind of an excuse is this Episode 3 and 4 are funnier because Lee Je Hoon act as hilarious teacher Yayyy same advice! Hahaha so basically you like meaningful slice of drama dramas or short thrillers? And pretty much LBY discounts everything Hahaha I was just talking about how no one ever talks about that drama and all of a sudden I see it here. YESSSS WATCH TAXI DRIVER I think it's my top addiction at the moment. The comedy and satisfaction from justice is on point for this series. * Basically this entire post is a hard sell for Taxi Driver Hope you're feeling ok and not too stressed! It's freezing lately! I just got home at midnight after going to a language exchange thing and I was so cold the whole ride back. Also, watch Taxi Driver - action/ revenge/ feel-good/ comedy genres
  15. Hahaha I think we are now besties since we seem to have the same food habits/ diet @TRaNz Yeah it was pretty crowded...but maybe it's because I left it to the last weekend But still I managed to make my photos look relatively empty soooo Hahahaha I think I just like big installation thingys because they look cool and it takes ages for peopel to make them...and I like taking pics, so I guess I document everything? Not sure how everyone else interacts with exhibits though. I love that a lot of people have seen and liked Weightlifting Fairy here Have you started yet @Jane? Hahaha why is your neighbourhood so exciting?? Who's the quiet one? It's always the quiet one
  16. Hahaha @Tofu @SilverMoonTea Yeah, I wish I could unsee that I'm not really a fan of the long hairs. Or maybe it's that particular wig? Not sure, but not doing it for me!
  17. I think this Blue Bird of Happiness story was mentioned in a few K-dramas I've seen...probably most recently I think it was mentioned when I watched When the Weather is Fine. Also may have heard it from a Ted talk or something - I think the book, The Alchemist , features a similar concept - going on a long journey to seek something, only to find it's right in front of you the whole time and you only had to notice it. Although severe bullying is a dark issue as well, I think the way they dealt with the bullies (because they were technically still kids) was more funny and trolling towards them so you were also more entertained rather than just raging at the baddies The first two episodes were quite dark in my opinion because there was a huge power imbalance between the evil business owners and the girl - she also have mental disabilities and there was implied sexual abuse as well as physical and psychological I get what you mean like it seems to trivialise the issue? I didn't think of it that way, but I did think they took this approach because they couldn't be depicted beating up kids even if they're total brats. I did like that they kicked him off the building and he fainted and the other bullies wet themselves. I think it shows anyone can be weak and scared, so everyone is the same and don't pick on people who seem 'weak.' Oddly enough I also like that scene where KDK requests payment from the victim, but tells him he believes he'll be strong enough to work hard to pay it back eventually. It's showing that people also need to work on themselves and not rely completely on others to solve all their issues Hehe, I like that he be trolling in his characters and reflecting a funny, sassy, dorky side different to his cool stoic driver persona. But I agree, I hope his characters also differ with each case so that it's interesting to watch
  18. Me too! I'm interested in seeing period dramas, but not the Joseon era sageuk type...more of the ones with this style. GAR and LJW made this style look pretty so would love to see a whole drama like that. Haha they should have done a Sanja- Manbok whole spin off Both the leads had cute chemistry together! I've always been a fan of Chae Soo Bin (the female lead), but it was my first time watching Jung Hae In - I think he's cute, but needs to pick better projects since all his dramas seem to be a bit draggy and mushy. A Piece of Your Mind is very aesthetic and pretty - lots of light, snow and plants and cut romance...but unlike DDSSLLS where you loved all the side characters (except that girl that was Jun's classmate), I found half of the side characters really annoying. But the female lead's housemates are likeable and funny Yes it was lovely to have this chat group of DDSSLLS / GAR & LJW lovers. Without you guys I'm not sure I would have gotten past the sad times of this drama Also it's nice to share discoveries like behind the scenes pictures because no one in my real life would understand how exciting it is to find that stuff Haha he's good at doing flustered. I think one of LJW 's strengths as an actor is that he's good at being empathetic and living inside his character's situations and feelings. He seems to know that too: Oh well, we can only make do with all the things in the drama and just occasionally complain and mostly forget about the sad things I saw more information about LJW's upcoming drama today: I am also hoping to hear GAR's news too. She's been pretty quiet lately
  19. Yes, yes, ship her with someone else Hahaha oh @TRaNz I don't think you're aware of my daily eating habits though. It's not one meal...I mean I live off sugar and eating out But for some weird reason I feel more guilty when I eat fried stuff. Yep, I went to the exhibition! It was really cool with all those large scale exhibitions. Did you go? You're not kidding though - I probably did walk a lot. When I left I realised I'd been there for 3 hours! I kept finding things that I'd missed Join us for Deluxe Taxi. I'm a little too in love with LJH at the moment. I don't know how you C-drama people do it I can only do 20 episode of TW dramas because they release one episode a week. It already kills me with this 2 a week for 16 episodes business with K-dramas Interesting...If I'm ever having a lazy day when I travel to Singapore in the future maybe I will eat at a 4 fingers to try then But Singapore just has good food everywhere! I usually just want to live at your marketplace food courts! Hahaha why does this drama have such a weird English name?! Hahaha it is probably making me feel less fickle while simultaneously making me more fickle JASPER and PUFF FOREVER! *I don't crazy ship people...but if these two ever want to date, I welcome it wholeheartedly!
  20. Nooooooo Well he can date whoever he wants I guess and I will support him. But I prefer it's someone I actually know and like Yay Congrats @SilverMoonTea and @Darkarcana! I appreciate all your hard work and humour...and all your Oppa-tracking It makes me feel less fickle
  21. Haha, I feel like these posters don't look messy because they're more like sign posts as opposed to advertising. Like sign posts for tourist attractions to Mokpo's famous drama filming sets (They also have it for the other two dramas/ films that were made there)! And since Mokpo is so colourful, it seem to match the buildings like you mentions I added all these photos to my Mokpo filming locations post just to complete the experience! Haha nice pun! I'm glad you liked it! I loved that series too and it still sits warmly in my heart as well. I liked that it showed a different kind of warm relationship - the relationship of a family you find for yourself I think the masses loved it because of a combination of reasons; it already had a good webtoon story and following, the script was well written - warm, down to earth characters, on-point humour and no drag in the storyline/ sudden turns (*cough DDSSLLS cough* ), The actress for Ha-na (Sejeong) is a popular idol known for her variety show appearances...And the cast chemistry was really, really good - Already from the pre-show interviews, you could see the cast really bounce off each other. But unsure whether second season will go ahead since Jo Byeong Gyu's career is on halt due to bullying scandal Edit: Thought you would like this @eNDe...Also just to link UC to DDSSLLS... I am LOVING Lee Je Hoon at the moment in Taxi Driver - it gives me similar vibes to Uncanny Counter, so if you loved that I'd highly recommend it. It's got humour/revenge/action on point! I guess I'll probably watching Phantom Detective to see him with GAR and also because I saw him and GAR do a variety show episode and it looked funny! https://www.instagram.com/p/CL67lF5pWC7/ Thanks for the well wishes! I got better over the weekend and I'm keeping well...also I've started Korean classes in the hopes of one day being able to translate drama related stuff and have conversations with actual Koreans Haha, maybe if I get far enough I can translate GAR or LJW content in the future! But that might be thinking a bit too far ahead since I've only had 2 lessons so far Speaking of translations, I have a GAR and LJW related present for you guys that will hopefully be ready by next week in time for the 5 month anniversary since the ending of DDSSLLS! Wow, have we really been obsessing about this drama for 5 months since it ended?! I guess that's how good it was! Also I came across some more Mokpo DDSSLLS comparison photos...so I will have some more blog goodies then. To add to the webtoon conversation about webtoons and people who can draw, I saw this Japanese fan drew this and posted it on instagram and I was so in love with her work. She previously drew Lala and Jun in a more manga type way too: https://www.instagram.com/p/CN1K_DOpy25/
  22. Halp! I think I have a Lee Je Hoon obsession Definitely my April pick Cannot deal with his super cool/hot and super troll/ dorky combination
  23. Hahaha it's true it's all the same really But I see where you're coming from with the idea of revenge - it's like a more negative idea and full of anger? Aggression? Hatred? I think maybe I liked the phrase 'not getting mad, but getting even' because it has connotations of 'sticking up for yourself' or being 'assertive' rather than being somewhat petty and seeking to harm/ destroy in return, which I associate more with the idea of 'revenge.'
  24. Episode 4 -I just watched Episode 4 and I CANNOT with LJH He is just killing me!!! - I forgot to say I laughed really hard when he asked to be changed from being a maths teacher last episode because I can relate. Would not want to teach high school maths at all - Anything this episode was soooo good on so many levels. I feel like LJH's KDK is just everything I want in a hero. Usually vigilante hero stories seem so dark. But LJH's acting in everyone of KDK's fake revenge personas is so freaking hilarious...This teacher gag made me laugh so much especially his fake righteous, nerdy voice and his cheeky facial expressions as he twisted those bullies into knots I also like how he mirrored the bully's "home visit" tactics and was laying across their bed asking for money. - I was confused about the actual punishment - making the bully eat pastries and get a part time job to pay for remaining?! Would that actually work. But I guess they couldn't have KDK bashing up a school kid. He did already kick him off a building I suppose the idea is that he gave them a big scare to stop them from being jerks and made them swap schools - Ugh the female gangster lady is trouble with a capital T. She seems to have no morals whosoever and just loves money. But by working with someone like that, it would also mean CEO Jang is turning a blind eye to their shady dealings...so regardless of all the good things he's doing, he is definitely also not being very responsible?! Though I guess he's just think that these people would be shady regardless and he's just borrowing their skills @40somethingahjumma's description of his duality is so on point. He seems to be a person housing some polar extremes on what constitutes as serving justice and doing the right thing. - It was really sad that he walked to see his mother right after she was murdered (the kettle was still on so the murder was fresh?! ) It looked so violent, no wonder he wanted revenge. - Mmm, KHN is interesting. I've seen series where the characters in her position is very annoying since she's on their tail and will probably sort things out using the law, which has its issues. But so far, I don't find her too bad. She's smart and suspicious, but she hasn't pulled any really annoying moves yet. Hopefully as @mademoiselle said, she will help the gang, rather than hinder them. -From the trailer: it looks like next week is more LJH in glasses. Not that I'm complaining because he does cute dork very very well Gif credits: Melody_starB
  25. Haha, I've noticed for Gong Yoo, but for some reason it seemed more gradual than for Jung Yong-Hwa. I thin mainly because for JYH, his face shape has changed a little? But never mind he still hold his star power. Ah yes, they actually came to Festival Hall. I didn't go because I had exams then but then again, I think I was moving away from my CN Blue love then? I might have been towards the last couple of years. Rowoon was down for KCon and I missed him ?! Well I guess that was years ago and I wouldn't have known who he was since it was pre EY days. I totally would have done a stalk I feel like I don't believe they're a real person till I see them with my own two eyes Ugh yeah arthouse films that are about creepy super old guys who like young young women really freak me out. And so KGE will have that attached to her unfortunately as well as that Goblin character who I did not find charming, but rather annoying. As for that Australian Sleeping Beauty film... I remember that...it had that actress who was in A Series of Unfortunate Events. I thought it was a rather poor choice for her since she was offered some other roles but turned them down to do that? Any names? Please drop and share People are really into it but I don't see the appeal from the snippets I've seen on social media Yeah if I think about it, I've only seen him in Heartstrings and The Package. I thought I'd seen more of him, but meh, my memory is poor I'm going to say I never watched You're Beautiful, so maybe I'm missing bits from the drama and being unfair...but I have strong not-so-great feelings towards this drama. I really was not a fan from what I saw at the time. I just felt like the main guy was super toxic compared to the second lead. I also once saw someone's review which said "It was like an abusive version of Snape getting with Bella Swan" And that made me not want to watch it forever. I really don't like dramas where main leads mistreat female leads for a good half of it and then become clingy/ jealous and female leads still likes them. It makes no sense to me because this is the definition of abusive?! My memories of Heartstrings was that the drama was pleasant, but the acting was stiff and the story sort of had unnecessary detours The music was good - I tend to like dramas about music/ musicians for some reason. Haha should I watch Signal? Everyone seems to love this one, but I missed it when it aired. You can get attacked for looking young?! Would they prefer her to age herself? People sure are weird! I kind of like this about K-dramas to be honest. Because they also have a long way to go with equality between genders due to having strong traditions which sometimes don't take into consideration women's needs or feelings. But it's nice to see them empower female actresses in this way. Besides, we're conditioned to be ok with large male-female age gaps, so it makes me feel weird when people complain about an actress being just 2-3 years older than her co-star. In real life I have a friend whose boyfriend pursued her being 4 years her junior and another friend whose boyfriend is 6 years younger (but he looks and acts really mature). So I guess it's not as uncommon as people think these days? Also, a Korean friend told me that the reason for older female pairings and younger male pairings is often because they want younger actors to learn from the more experiences actresses. At the moment, a lot of main/well known actresses are in their 30s-40s whereas there's a lot of younger actors in their early 20s. To make sure those younger actors get acting experience, they pair them up with someone who has been in films/TV for awhile. This goes other other day around as well with younger females, older actors also. But tI think there will be a bunch of new actresses entering the field too (lately there's been a lot of side actresses moving quickly into first roles like Go Min Si, Park Gyu Young and Park Hye Eun) and it may swing back a little towards same-age or older male-younger female pairings for some dramas.
