  1. Oh, I know the feeling! DDSSLLS had the best, most heartfelt storyline and humour and romance. I've seen quite a few dramas that I've loved since this ended, but not in the romance department...This will continue to be my favourite romance for a long time to come I think! Doom at your Service does have good chemistry with the leads though! I'm watching it too - see you at the Doom thread!
  2. Anniversary Goodie #4 Another new subbed short video of LJW talking about filming in Mokpo I was working on another video, but that one is quite a bit longer, so will need another day or so more to finish it! But while you wait, here's another pretty edit that just got uploaded today. I love people who make edits with this dreamy type music and all the warm, lovely scenes of Jun and Lala. Again, must watch with music: https://www.instagram.com/p/CPgdz0DgN3Y/ No worries! I'm loving it too - if we couldn't get any extras, I'm using my newfound Korean skills to squeeze every last drop of understanding out of those BTS scenes. I've watched a number of new dramas that I've come to love, but there's still something magical about this one...so I want to know everything about it Wouldn't it be a dream to watch the 3 of them in something? It's nice to think that LJH has worked with both of them though! And it looks like he had good chemistry with them both too. He said such lovely things about LJW I also saw some of this promotional stuff with GAR and they looked like they had fun doing their variety segments! Haha, yeah he was a bit thinner in EY, but he was looking pretty good in both Move to Heaven and DDSSLLS Thanks for your concern! It's all good - we're just not allowed to go out for no good reason - so I'm mainly at home catching up on dramas and translating DDSSLLS content Haha I really have to thank the hardcore LJW on my twitter feeds for their detective work!
  3. Haha, I was meant to translate more things, but I got distracted by the final episode of Taxi Driver this weekend because Lee Je Hoon Haha funny how he use to be "that guy I saw in movies" to new favourite actor! But definitely have some more DDSSLLS I'm half way through working on for tomorrow's post. Will deliver more Jun and Lala goodness then!
  4. Yay! I am also done I really enjoyed this series because it was a combination of all the things I like Kim Do Ki was such a badass character, but also very warm and funny and it was just so great watching him each week in a different persona. The Rainbow Taxi family were all so much fun. While each case of abuse hurt my heart, it was so nice to have this group of people take revenge on behalf of the victims to make me feel like the world is not as unfair or cold as it sometimes seems. I enjoyed that the drama got viewers to question their sense of ethics/ morals and whether or not something is fundamentally right for society - I think these sorts of discussions are important since media does influence people to make differences in our world. Lastly, I adopted Lee Je Hoon from this series - before I use to think of him as "that familiar guy from the last Korean movie I watched" So overall, I loved this series. I do have a few hang- ups about the finale, but it wasn't too bad all things considered... Episode 16 (Finale) - I'm going to preface this by saying, I don't love finale episodes often. There's always a chance things can go violently wrong (I'm still looking at you, Dodosolsollalasol). But even if it's not horrible, I find it's hard to keep the pacing right and sometimes there's a lot of time spent on unimportant things. There was a bit of this in Taxi Driver which did make this episode less good compared to all the other episodes that I loved so much...but they also tied up the loose ends, leaving a few crumbs for a potential season 2, which I wouldn't mind getting if they're thinking of doing one - I liked that the last episodes looked at KDK and CEO Jung's own demons with OYC because they always wanted to get revenge, but felt they couldn't. It was good to see them get the revenge they deserved and work through all the things that had hurt them. - I was conflicted that OYC's son was sort of used as the pawn in the revenge, but it doesn't seem like KDK and CEO Jung knew what OYC was going to do to the bodyguard that was his son...only that they leveraged what happened to torment OYC. I think I was the opposite to you @mademoiselle in that I liked that CEO Jung did reveal the truth to OYC to break him - letting him know he had hurt/destroyed the thing that he most valued with his own hands would be a way of making him feel like he had lost. That's what you get with messing with security guards, OYC! - With that said, I felt like the scriptwriters didn't really look so deeply into psychopaths. I'm not an expert but I guess I've read a lot about them over the years because I've always been fascinated with empathy and how some people really don't have it. The first thing that I was a bit meh on was them saying psychopaths could love their kids. I really didn't think so, but I had a look on some psycho/sociopath threads on reddit after the episode and most psychopaths said they don't think they do - they feel 'fondness,' but love is hard for many. It's probably not impossible, but more in the way that psychopaths think of their kids being an extension of themselves or something useful/beneficial to them. So OYC missing his kid was a bit of a stretch, but it's possible that he thought his kid was the good part of himself or something. - The second thing bothered me more: That OYC felt bad for his crimes...This one was a huge stretch for me to suspend my disbelief. Psychopaths don't have empathy mainly because that section in their brains are just less developed. It's not even a matter of learning - they genuinely don't have that capacity. So the courtroom scene was a bit too much - I doubt a real life version of OYC would cry or apologise at all! So I guess it felt unrealistic and more like taking big K-drama liberties there. - But to bring it back to a more positive light, I liked how generous KDK was to OYC's son, even though his father killed KDK's mother. KDK/ CEO Jung offering that olive branch to the son by helping his mother was probably more healing for himself than it was helpful to the son. And I also liked that KDK didn't tell the son who the dad was - it would have destroyed him. Like you @mademoiselle, I thought the son knew his father. But now I think, he was just reflecting on how terrible his life was getting beat up all the time? - I'm glad that KHN did not arrest KDK and she buried the Rainbow Taxi case. I mean, she wasn't wrong, it's not like there was evidence since GE erased all of it But I still found it weird that her boss was quitting to take responsibility for hiding the case...if it was hidden, wouldn't it be fine to stay in the job? Because if they knew, I assume the prosecutors would be punished or fired. I guess it was just a matter of integrity - Ugh product placement - I think product placement should be banned from finale episodes! Fine, if it's 1-2 things and they write it in real naturally...but it really ruins the pacing of the story. This episode had several things advertised and writing them in meant a lot of filler time required (Eg. KHN doing her make-up, KDK going camping). There was a point where I think we saw 3 product consecutively! - I was soooo sad when I thought Rainbow Taxi was going to split up. It seemed sad that they had worked on this big project to better society only to leave each other forever. I was thinking "But you're family!!!" Luckily, it was revealed that they hadn't really split up and they were still getting bad guys. The difference now is that they each also have a cool day job to boot I totally agree with you @abs-oluteM that with the added member of prosecutor KHN and GE, now a cop, it's implied that they would use their skills but deliver baddies into the legal system with proofs for sentencing. I think also it seems to imply that the team are less about revenge per say, but more about finding baddies, infiltrating their organisations and stopping their plans - I'm going to finish up my finale opinion with this: Whether you shipped KDK with GE or KHN, there was a beautiful ending scene with each of KDK's leading ladies. I can't decide which I liked more: The heartfelt conversation by the twilight lake where KHN tells KDK he's worth it or whether I like the gazing at the night lights scene where GE hugs KDK and tells him that she'll miss him. I totally agree with @abs-oluteM that it was good there was no romance...But I am a fan of good chemistry in barely-there implied romances and this show delivered on that front with 2 candidates!
  5. Hahaha I was shocked when I found this out years ago when I went to France. I think they have them across a few European countries, though it is more commonly not the squat ones. This was so cute. I really liked the part in the interview where he reverted back to Wang Tao Zi I really like this about this drama. There's something nice about how it both critiques the weakness of our existing legal structures ( well, specifically the Korean justice system), but also warns against seeing revenge as the way out. I think it's a fine balance, but they have done well to look at the merits and issues of both ways. I think there's never going to be a clear answer, but something like this pushes people to examine their systems and to check their own beliefs about what it means to serve justice. We have a system that is at times broken, but if we can continue to work on it - ie, not be complacent if we work in these types of jobs, lobby, create support programs etc. then maybe we can make this system work better than it currently is I think it's like half half? I've seen some movies where the gangsters have guns...And I believe no matter how strict laws are, bad people will find a way to smuggle things in. But I guess the other thing is that perhaps the sentences will be much worse if you get caught killing someone with an illegal weapon vs. if you kill them without one, so maybe they avoid using it if they have other weapons? I know that's a factor with people who rob people in the US - robbery where a weapon is used is much more severe in the way of punishment apparently, so I think it does put people off using weapons I haven't seen the last episode yet (though I'm about to watch), so not sure what KDK makes the man regret in the series...The only way I think you could make a psychopath feel bad is if you make them feel like they've lost. I remember once reading a very long article about psychopaths and training them. The take-away I got from the study was that psychopaths generally think in terms of winning and losing, since they have very little (if any) empathy, don't fear pain or punishment, are often quick to anger and often have high levels of narcissism. The article was about a rehab facility that trained young psychopaths, already in juvenile jail for violence, so that they wouldn't end up as serial killers. Punishment didn't work on any of the kids, but making them realise violent and dominating behaviours made them 'lose' in life and they could 'win' by acting in non-violent, socially expected ways was the long terms solution. All the kids were very calculative, so they literally had to turn things into a game of gains and losses. In that study, I think only 1-2 (?) kids ended up being criminals as adults (can't remember if they were killers or not). They talked to a few of them as adults and most were 'normal' thanks to their training though they did say that it's very tiring because they have to actively check themselves or they could slide back. They naturally still don't have feelings for other people, so life can be quite hollow and depressing. As much as they have dangerous anti-social behaviours, it seems kind of sad that some people are born this way.
  6. I'm glad violence against women can affect guys as much as girls...and bring out that anger towards evil guys I enjoy violence between gangsters, but abuse is a completely different thing and it sickens me whenever I have to watch it. Hahaha the age old rule for good guys in films dramas that focus on morality rather just action is that they can't kill anyone....otherwise what makes them different from the bad guys? I know, it sucks because I just want the bad people wiped off this planet too...but then KDK would have to go to jail for a long time in their place which would also suck Totally agree...I was reminded of when the Joker in Dark Knight made Batman pick between rescuing a bunch of inmates and rescuing Rachel. Episode 14 was like that - the bad guys were making it so difficult for KDK to rescue his entire team! Hahaha all valid points. I have to admit while I love the show and stuff like KDK fighting 40 guys doesn't bother me (because you see the same thing in evvverrryyyyy action film, Korean, American or otherwise), I was a little confused about why PJE was just driving around in the taxi and not actually doing anything helpful till he got run into by that truck? I guess his role was just to make KDK so mad that he would take on 100 gangsters even after stabbed and injured Hahaha yes, but mostly because people force conversations onto me and I don't want to stop responding to make it more awkward. That's why I try to go to the bathroom further away at work so I don't run into anyone there and have to have a conversation (as much as I like being social...I save it for desk/ kitchen instead!) LOL we've been enlightened
  7. Hahaha I feel like lots of people have been shipping Esom and LJH from this series There was photos of them after an interview and the headlines said something about it being like after a date!
  8. If there was a second season, I feel like this would be the premise since I guess they can't continue to let Rainbow Taxis operate given that KDK has pretty much confessed everything to KHN. It's been such a good watch that I would be ok with a second season of this too! I totally agree with everything you've said about KHN. I think she represents the good prosecutor/cop with a heart in the right place and who genuinely wants to do good using the law. And there's definitely people like that in our world. But because she wants (and needs) to follow the law, she is restricted to things like bureaucracy and hierarchy which is frustrating and sometimes leads to very unfair results, even when the intentions are well meaning. I find my frustrations about her at not directed at her as such but at the system she represents. But Esom is doing a good job portraying KHN I think - I have been more frustrated with similar characters before, but KHN is quite empathetic so she's a balanced character.
  9. I can't believe it's the final week! I'm not ready to let this series go let since it's been so much fun to watch and a good series to watch when you feel like anything is unjust in this world...it made me feel like there were people out there who cared Episode 15 -Ughh, the opening with the serial killer was so creepy!!! -I was so relieved that PJE survived the Truck of Doom ramming into him. I was seriously thinking that he would die from it, but that seemed too harsh a punishment for the Rainbow crew - I enjoyed the power of CEO Jung not caring whether Chairman Baek would tell on him or not. And I think it's true what he said about just wanting to cut ties with her asap - I mean, jail doesn't seem as bad as having a psycho blackmail you all the time! - I loved that scene with the Rainbow crew all refusing to let CEO Jung be their scapegoat - they're such a family. And I enjoyed the roast session where GE was like, "Yeah, but no one would believe you hacked U Data because you're computer illiterate" and CKK said that he wouldn't even know how to identify the engine of a car - It's interesting to see how damaged the criminals were from the experience of being in CEO Jung's jail. But I think an element of it was probably fear of the unknown since they were kidnapped and had no idea where they where or what their captors would do to them. But yeah, sounds the conditions were pretty horrible all around. I want to say I felt that it's wrong, but I really didn't when I saw the pedo go after Maria and the illegal-sex-tape guy kidnap Go Eun. The fact that some criminals don't reflect and learn from their mistakes makes me feel angry about why they should be treated well. BUT with that said, a lot of this week's episode focused on what if someone was framed...If we did have CEO Jang's type of jail and an innocent person was tormented like that, it would be so horrible - I wasn't surprised at KHN's reaction to KDK revealing the jail...but I did kind of feel annoyed that she was so high and mighty about it though I understand where she's coming from. I mean, it'd be pretty shocking to see those conditions...but I do feel like the police and the law have too many loopholes that it's quite rich to blame KDK/Rainbow Taxi for trying to bring the law into their hands...I mean it's embarrassing just how many criminals they managed to kidnap consecutively - The fact that some poor guy was forced to serve a 20 year jail sentence because of OYC and some dirty bully cops makes me feel so sad...for the character, but also for the real story in the epilogue...And when you think about it, for anyone who has been unlucky enough to have that experience It is so completely unfair that some guy's life was ruined all because a psychopath decided it'd be fun to withhold information that he was eventually going to release anyway And then all the police could do was apologise because they couldn't punish the bad cops because the "Statue of limitations" had expired?! Should people abusing their power be punished anyway??? I don't blame him for wanting revenge! -What I like about this show is that it hasn't said that the law/ courts are the best system or that going around the law is better - clearly, the drama shows us that things should go through a justice system rather than through a personal revenge system snce that just leads to endless hate and violence, but there is still A LOT of work needed to improve our current systems - Poor KDK's mother It was so disgusting seeing OYC toy with KDK saying her final words. It's so unfortunate that his mother was at home, but suffered a random home invasion by a psychopath. I think the trailer showed KDK saying he would threaten OYC's son...but realistically, would many true psychopaths be threatened by that? There's been a few podcasts about real life kids of psychopaths and a few of them had cases where they narrowly missed being one of their parent's victims Lack of empathy, lack of understanding of pain and a predisposal to violence are common traits...I mean, it makes you question whether they do form true attachments to anyone? Also a few things I wanted to agree with people about that I never got the chance to earlier: Hahaha I have always found this super distracting too!!! Like she's dancing in such a showy way too. It's the weirdest ad to have at the end of such intense episodes I'm not sure if I ever mentioned in my episode summary, but when I watched that episode I was also super puzzled about this too. I didn't think GYT could even pretend to be nice, so how could they be friends?! Unless he did what a lot of gross guys do with pretty, soft girls - just force their company onto them...but then wouldn't you try to keep your boyfriend away from him?!
  10. I didn't get a chance to release a translation yesterday because I was trying to catch up on my other dramas, so will release 2 goodies today Anniversary goodie #3 Full Subbed Cookie Baking BTS video Not a new translation, but before I had only subbed bits and pieces of this video here and there. So I decided to sub this BTS video fully so you can watch the whole thing and feel that it was complete. I loved seeing LJW and GAR look like a little family with SMJ both on-screen and behind the scenes too Other things I found recently was this very beautiful edit of Jun and Lala The music they used was so dreamy and I love the scenes too. Everything seems so whimsical and makes me think of all the lovely moments in the drama...must watch with the music: https://www.instagram.com/p/CPabei8geU6/ Also funny thing...someone made an edit with the stalker from DDSSLLS: https://www.instagram.com/p/CPT9ybrFDiq/ Haha this is like the first person I've seen who made an edit of the stalker But each to their own I guess! Thanks so much for confirming too @Unnie0110 - I thought Su-Cheol looked like Jun too. They're both rather cute characters and also have a tragic storyline in some ways so there was a great similarity there Also explains why LJW was confirmed so early by Netflix to appear in this series. Because he was probably filming or had filmed his parts by the time they announced the cast for the show publicly since Netflix works differently to Asian channels and seems to make their announcements after shows are filming rather than before. Hahaha you're not wrong...if I was the director I would also have made use of that opportunity..."Oh you've been working out? Help us to pull viewers with your body!" I agree. There was something soft and adorable about both characters. In the past, I think LJW's characters have been great, but somehow different to both SC and Jun which he portrayed in the same year I love that GAR is actually like Goo Lala...I mean she has that sort of energy and warmth that makes you want to be her friend. And I think no matter what characters she plays, I like that she's able to have this energy at the end of the day Haha, I'm not a hospital drama fan but if I'm curious enough I might check out Hospital Playlist to see her.
  11. Watched this earlier in the week, but wrote so much that I thought I'd give you a break before subjecting you to more of my long writings Episode 13 - Wow, these episodes were rough! But I also found them exciting though at times I had to pause to get a tea or something because they were quite violent. I do love violence in a gangster movie way, but there were times that I was like, this is intense and I'm stressed! - I found it interesting when the start of the episode seemed to set up to make Chairman Baek look like she was a victim of a tragic past. I totally did not feel any sympathy for her then and I wasn't surprised when it was revealed at the end that she was a real psycho who planned the whole thing - As much as I hate all the criminals in this series for the completely horrible things they've done to other people, I felt like that conditions in that make-shift prison were actually quite bad. So I don't know about reform, but CEO Jang did give them a horrible time? - The embassy scene with KHN made me cringe, but when they brought out KDK using smoke bombs and catching GTY, I felt it was redeemed! GYT really did squeal like a pig and there was something about sooooooooo satisfying about seeing KDK pound him into pulp...also quite funny that the engineers from Rainbow Taxi gave GTY extra spray to keep him sedated in the ambulance - Of all the evil criminals from the show, I definitely think the ones from the tech company and the ones who hurt Maria were the most evil. In fact they also lead the rebellion on the bus - I was really mad at the cops when they were doing the transaction on the bridge. I mean, in a way they saved everyone...but in another way they arrested KDK who was nothing but helpful to the cops who were so very slow at uncovering everything! -The tail end of Episode 13 stressed me out so much! I think it was the creeps getting to GE and Maria and knowing that they would definitely harm the girls in more ways than one if they got their hands on them Also I was traumatised for GE who would have to have the jerk who hurt her sister face on. The whole time I was so mad...stay away from my girls! - But I really liked how cool it was that KDK could fight with glow in the dark googles! Episode 14 - My heart hurt watching this episode the whole way through. Me = will everyone survive unscathed?! - I can't tell which evil guy was worse - the sicko pedo who just kept forcing himself and his feelings onto poor Maria or the illegal video guy who was torturing GE about her sister. There was something terrifying about seeing just how evil some criminals can be - not only was there no remorse, but there was so much selfishness and vengefulness I just wanted them punished! - There was something sooooo satisfying seeing KDK almost bash that video guy for what he almost did to GE. But I also loved how GE stopped him because she didn't want to see someone she loved turn into a monster on her behalf! - I want to say the police did a good job, but even when KHN convinced the police to search the premises of Chairman Baek, you knew it was going to be a slow process where they wouldn't find the right rooms etc. - There was a bit of a Dark Knight scenario going on here where the bad guys were pretty much making it hard for KDK to be in several places at once. It hurt me to see them do the physical torture with CKK getting his finger hammer flat and CEO Jung having his eye taken out. -And then that damn truck of doom I'm not sure how I felt about that scene mainly because it's just so cliche to have the truck of doom appear twice in one episode! (At the start with Chairman Baek's story there was also a truck of doom). This did however spur on a KDK fighting rampage which I really enjoyed. This sequence reminded me of the non stop action a la Man from Nowhere style. - I loved KDK's fighting technique to play weak and then grab Chairman Baek at the first opportunity to use as bait I feel like I've learnt a thing or two about fighting from KDK - I haven't had the chance to read the comments further back yet, but I did see someone say that it was unrealistic that the gangsters didn't have guns...and while I did like these episodes, I totally agree that gangsters would not go around without guns. They wouldn't care about no firearms laws...they'd be loaded...so it was a bit weird they weren't armed. But otherwise, I enjoyed the fight/ action scenes in this ep - With Chairman Baek finally caught though, I wonder what the last 2 episodes will be about? I guess it's closing the loop with his own mother's murder and closing down the revenge arm of their taxi service?
  12. So weird that TJS hasn't seen his own project! But he did such a good job in it. I didn't realise he was so young as well! Wasn't he also in Crash Landing?! Thanks @mademoiselle for these gifs with my two favourite Korean Oppas I love them together in the same project so very much. And nice to know that LJH had lots of nice things to say about LJW according to an interview he gave which has been translated by fans: https://www.instagram.com/p/CPaCVhEtxYJ/ Also I liked that LJW posted some BTS pictures with LJH
  13. Hahaha had to admit to a rewatch because it was that good Thanks for explaining! I really appreciate it...haha, I feel silly for not getting it for so long - I was like...why does TDK have to love him and why is she not making him like her? But now I totally see how she thought of a loophole to challenge him on... Yes! I love this scene too I feel like this sort of realisation about his loneliness was much better than that supermarket fall scene. Also it was just so aesthetically pleasing to look at. Gif credits: Melody_starB (for this one and kissing one above) Yep, this is the first time watching SIG! I don't think I've seen any of his past projects. I was so keen to watch Shopping King Louie before DDSSLLS ended...but then I was so mad at the writers when it did end that I was like, I will boycott their works (though it's not like it changes anything. LOL) But I may go back and watch since enough time has passed that I don't even feel that rage anymore. Was also planning to watch all the Reply series since I never thought about watching them in the past Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way! But you're right, what I do love is the way that that TDK and MM see each other for who the other really is. They understand the secret pains and loneliness that the other suffers and wants to care for the other so much.
  14. Fair enough...this is totally what hooked me in too, though oddly enough I was not expecting romance so my expectations in the romance department are much lower I think. That, and I like the slow burn. I feel like HJA likes OIB back, but if she had to pick between her mother and OIB, she would pick her mother since she needs to resolve that and see her mother finally rest in peace. But I also think she just has a personality that is too cool to be mushy, though she probably secretly enjoys how soft OIB is towards her
  15. Hahaha, oh yeah, @SilverMoonTea and I both enjoy the reaaaaal torturous slow burn romances that have strong chemistry, but ambiguous romantic actions @abs-oluteM I tend to call this style of romance a Will-they-Won't-they romance. It's like the scriptwriters give the characters enough chemistry to show some serious loving could happen...but they also leave it as a tease because the characters never openly acknowledge a relationship, or it's vaguely implied or it happens with a kiss in the last minute of the drama. You spend the whole time questioning if it'll ever become a proper romance... But it doesn't bother me too much if done well (unless the couple really get under my skin and I wish more had happened!)
  16. Finally thanks to this new lockdown in my city, I've been forced to stay home and have now caught up with Doom at Your Service Episodes 4-6 - I'm going to have to admit I was actually very confused why TDK was trying to love MM. Like really, really confused. I rarely get this way when following drama plots, but I guess it's been awhile since I watched a fantasy drama and one that has angsty love contract at the centre of it. And also this whole idea is rather abstract? Like the contract has been pretty vague and I sometimes felt a little confused about the personification of doom and both their intentions - So it's been explained to me as: TDK is trying to love MM so that she has a loophole out since MM said he would doom the person she loved most. if she broke her contract agreement of dooming the world. MM is trying to get TDK to love him so much that she is willing to fulfil her wish of dooming the world...Have I got it right? - MM spends a lot of time pushing TDK away and sometimes being downright horrible to prove he's not loveable ...I mean every time he jokes about whether he should kill her brother it does make you want to punch him…. though it's clear that he won't because he's charmed by her fighting spirit and her strange way of reacting to things that differ from the average and somewhat selfish ways that a lot of humans tend to behave - MM is a lot of fun for a character though - I love that way he reacted with the church lady who kept telling him that Doom was coming and he needed to join the church to get on well in the next life....The way he told her that there was no next life was just so doom-like. - There's something beautiful and sad about personifying Doom. I really liked that scene at the end of Ep 5 where they go and watch the last of a tradition that will fade and be forgotten and talk about how things that are doomed to disappear are often the most beautiful. It's such a poignant reflection -I also enjoy all MM's interactions with TDK's younger brother. Every time they greet each other with "Hi Brother-in-law" I laugh so much! -Speaking of TDK's brother, at first I was so annoyed at his jerkiness and the way he used his sister. But then I found him to be quite sweet when he got so upset about her terminal illness that he was dazed and crying in public about her condition...and he decides to get a job to support her -Loving all the cameos in this series - Han Yeri and Nam Da Reum? Even though NDR's character was such a bratty kid! - Hehe, this drama is the kind of romance that really find ways to make the two leads stare into each other's eyes or have the guy catch the girl when she's falling - all the cliche-y romantic things. Sometimes it can make me cringe when it's too contrived like when MM caught TDK in the supermarket awkwardly when there was no reason for the fall/ push....but most of the romantic scenes have been quite sweet...like every time MM comes out of nowhere to hold her hand...or when he transports her to the beach and cups her face or when he dazes TDK to almost kiss him and he breaks into a grin -Speaking of romance, can't believe they already had a kiss at Episode 6!!! Aaaand a pretty good kiss at that...not the annoying freeze kiss but a proper rain-soaked, chemistry-filled full on kiss. I think PBY and SIG have really good chemistry, so it was already perfect for an early kiss. SIG looks like quite a good kisser Should I adopt him as an Oppa? He's also just plain charming !
  17. @abs-oluteM Why aren't they airing episode 14? Haha, well makes it easy for me because now I have caught up on all my Kdramas! I'm ok with this romance. I feel like it was sold to me as 'light on romance' - mainly a badass ghost fighting story with the romance being more of a tease rather than central to the story. I was actually pleasantly surprised every time there was a romance scene. Episode 13 - Finally the revelation of what actually happened on the night! I don't think I was as frustrated as some of you guys about this hidden storyline, but I did also want to know the truth. It was getting to the point where it was fairly obvious that HJA was somehow more involved in the events that night that she initially knew. One thing though was that I was getting so sick of seeing the egg ghosts' face Even though I knew it was coming every time, I would get really scared! - It was sad that HJA found out she was the one who stabbed her mum! I mean she did exactly as her mother told her to do, but she just didn't know killing the egg ghost would kill it's host. But if the egg ghost had not taken over HJA's mother's body, it would have been sad for her mum to have to kill OIB as a kid. - The time line actually made sense in terms of the events - I was always confused about the uncle's last memory vs. HJA's memory in the flashbacks, but yeah, that explains why the uncle was so hysterical about wanting to turn himself in to the police, which in turn, is why DHS killed him in fear he would get him in trouble. I see now - I feel like HJA does have her priorities a little mixed up - I know OIB and his uncle were there at the scene so it's easy to feel a big grudge against them. But OIB's friend is right - the only real bad guy in the whole matter is DHS who ordered OIB's uncle to set a fire and kill people. OIB's uncle was not smart, but he was also being threatened by gangsters. - Speaking of OIB's friend, he was such a sweetheart thinking of sacrificing all his money to help his friend! - OIB's words to HJA were so comforting - the words she used on him...but I like that he respects her space while she's having a hard time rather than forces his company on her. He is a real softie, huh! - Did they ever really explain who this aunty at Blue Salt was - like how does HJA know her? It felt a bit fillery, though I liked the cameo. - The revelation at the end made sense too in terms of HJA's mum and the restaurant lady and her son. And I was about to argue that it didn't make sense with the ghost child and her parent, but then I remembered that the parents initially thought that she had been run over, so they weren't blaming themselves for her death. Of course, it'll make her feel guilty again that she was the one who willed her mother, unknowingly to be by her side for all these years
  18. Haha nothing wrong with some colour and patterns and cuteness in life. Especially when you're an adult and everything has to be boring anyway! But I can also play your game and have 'sophisticated and plain' stationary - I don't discriminate These are some of my US/ Japan notebooks. Rifle Paper Co, Kunisawa and Midori Thanks for this site. I really like the aesthetic. Actually I love how good at diary writing / scrapbooking people are I always see the beautiful bullet journals and clean perfectly coloured coded study notes of kids these days on Instagram and I'm in awe Oooh Thank you. Yes, I love my pens. There are many more, but not sure if I should post because you might all be very scared of how many pens I have Haha yeah, I feel like kids are drawn to nice stationery and will help you use so it's probably hard to keep it around long term. But it sounds like your kids are talented! 300 followers for an art accounts is a lot! People must like seeing their work Do you have any diary/ note examples? Would love to see! Hahaha hey, hey! My collection is modest compared to my pens Also this is still a lot of washi @SilverMoonTea...you are just as insane as the rest of us I like all your gold foil ones. They catch the light well Me too! I love to see people's collections. Show us everything! I want to see! These are all so cuteeee I love these characters. What are they called? The things from the corner? I have a soft toy of one of them.
  19. Hahaha I always bring a journal or notebook but forget to write or get too tired But my notebook did come in handy when I was in Korea because they love to have tourist collectible stamps so sometimes I just used the notebook to collect my location stamps Expenses? What is that? I just use my notebooks to write about my experiences...I just go on holidays to use all my monies Paper! I like the act or writing more than typing. I think it's more fun. And I can make it look cute But I agree - you need to find a format that works to your style otherwise you don't end up using it correctly and it becomes a lot of work. I like calendar format and usually like A5 size. A lot of people think that's weird but I need monthly view to plan ahead. Weekly view feels too fast! Oh man, I have so many colouring books too! None finished of course! Yeah, totally agree - not a fan of spreading ink or when the ink is too wet. Fast drying is best, especially if you're writing a lot. It's good coz it doesn't smudge! Hehe, black, blue and red sound so professional...I'm buying all the rainbow colours and forcing them on my workplace But not much force is required since all my workmates come to play with/ borrow pens from me Oooh Tarepanda was so cute! Whatever happened to it? Was it retired as a stationery character? This will probably make you rich! Too bad I sold my collection a few years ago only for $50 Yes! We have a few tapes that are the same I love that peach and gold MT tape too....haha, my taste is pretty colours? Whoa soooo neat!! And a very nice collection! I see you really like plant prints @Jane
  20. My badddddd I was the one who accidentally tagged you in the Oppa thread But yes, come check out Oppas with us during lockdown (Though more like Unnies for you!) Aw, really? I'm back at home hence procrastination posting here while waiting for someone to get back to meee Haha, good luck with hunting for a new job! I think more jobs will be more flexible and there will be greater WFH across a lot of industries going forward. Hopefully that will be part of your work life one day. Flexible fangirling and fanboying here I'm not a fan of anyone in So I Married an Anti-Fan and it looks like a very cliche rom com so will probably never go there My last Oppa adoption is Lee Je Hoon. I lovvvveeeee him. I think he's on main Oppa tier (Jasper/ LJW tier) - I'm not sure what it is, but he really does it for me I think it's a combination of good acting talent, he picks fun/warm/funny characters from heart-warming dramas, he has the looks, but is very down to earth and funny, he's super charismatic....he's just shiny
  21. This is me too. I'm not very popular huh? But scammers are working very diligently to try to be my friend Yeahhh, PMY admitted to getting Plastic surgery before, but only says she did eyelids. I think she's done way more since I think she looks way different now from when she was in Healer. Apparently stars who admit to it only say they did eyelids because that's the only acceptable plastic surgery to admit to. @Chocolate No, I find a lot of mainstream actors will do very steamy/ explicit scenes in the name of art for cinema. The dramas tend to be less steamy often because they're for wider audiences on TV and so not as controversial since so many people can access them like kids. But they like to test the waters and make interesting films so there's both more realistic content as well as the more odd/ extreme/ experimental stuff in Korean film and cinema. Because of the nature of my job, I have seen lots of Korean films over the years and they are not afraid to get super steamy. In fact, those are the types of films that get the more critical acclaim - Like The Handmaiden etc. That's probably why the actors do them - It's more about testing your acting skills and being seen as a serious actor who can do uncomfortable scenes / getting into the film festival circuits like Cannes / potentially getting nominated for awards Hahaha because Lee Jae Wook is worthy of being on Swoon Quiz Rowoon is too, but I wonder if it's because The Swoon have more LJW content than Rowoon content? She Would Never Know was not on Netflix right? So they could only put Haru from Extraordinary You maybe? Yeah its' weird I did that quiz like several times and never got Rowoon! The only person I trust to admire museums is Jane....I know you are just eying oppas Wow you have quiet adoptions? I am use to you going on a rampage and posting every pic of new favourite oppa I feel like that's because you've already adopted them all before since you watch so many dramas before we got an Oppa tracker! KTO is so pretty but this plant smelling photo shoot was so weird!
  22. Anniversary goodie #2 LJW clip when he was filming as Jun in Mokpo Today's anniversary goodie is this very short translation - A test of my Korean abilities Yes I totally agree with everything you said! He was such a sweet character in Move to Heaven but also had that boxing/ fighting element. I loved that he worked with a director who could see his capacity as an actor and also loved that he worked with LJH, a prolific actor in the industry. I feel like both of them have an eye for good projects - they pick dramas with heart and characters that are memorable LJW's character had a short but very important role in the story - and yes he totally had a Jun vibe with his warmth I'm glad they didn't just make it some one episode cameo, but fleshed out the life of the character of Su-Cheol and showed just what a big impact he had on Sang Gu - it's sad because what SG had with SC was a healing relationship after his rough upbringing and sense of abandonment with his brother. But SC left an even bigger wound on SG when he passed away in that tragic accident caused by SG himself I don't really cry for films and TV (though I can totally see why this drama reduced a lot of people to tears!). I felt like someone had stabbed my heart a few times in both episode 7 and 8. It was just so tragic because both episodes showed how unfair life was SG - he wasn't a bad person, but life just kept throwing these horrible scenarios at him and he made some big mistakes he could never change or reverse in his life But I loved how HGR's relationship with his uncle becomes a new healing relationship for SG - a way for him to make amends and find a connection with his past since HGR is essentially like both Su-Cheol (being a younger guy who need protection) and his brother (being his son who has learnt a lot of wisdom from him). Haha it's my dream now to have both LJW and GAR to work with this director. Together. LJW is adorable in a school uniform...but you're not wrong about him suffering as a school kid. He always has like an abusive family or a bully or is rejected by the girl he likes! Even in When the Weather is Fine where he does get the girl in the end, he still has an embarrassing public rejection in high school! Awww, like you, I just want him to graduate and have happier endings! Oh I totally will! In my city, we've just gone back into lockdown again so this is the perfect week to watch it! I love a good detective film and LJH and GAR are my faves these days. Is Collectors recent? I'll have to check it out too! Hahaha yes, I only remember and watch all the lovely parts of DDSSLLS...and then The Swoon/ KBS games because I just want to see GAR and LJW's playful bantery puppy love chemistry When the Weather was Fine was finished awhile before DDSSLLS started filming - they were both in very different locations too and LJW had a reasonable amount of screen time in both series (well, lead in DDSSLLS) that it would have been hard to have filmed both at the same time. But I think Move to Heaven had events from that times because the script was written then. Also I do believe LJW filmed that cameo while filming DDSSLLS because there's a few photos of him wearing the same outfits while doing promo stuff for both DDSLLS and Move to Heaven...It's just his hair was styled differently
  23. @SnowBlob @mademoiselle @TRaNz What are the chances you think we'll be locked down? It seems like we're riding the wave of covid again...But if it does happen maybe I'll finally get onto of catching up on my 5 dramas and responding to everyone here
  24. Happy 6 months Twinkles!!! @eNDe @Unnie0110 @multiloverss @twinkler0415 @purplefin @Just_Me @CINNABOM There's not that much news about DDSSLLS anymore because of course there's new dramas now, including Move to Heaven for LJW (Did you guys see his latest Instagram post? https://www.instagram.com/p/CPSzIsTnoUs/). But this drama still sits fondly and deeply in my heart so I thought I'd celebrate 6 months of loving this drama with the last of the BTS video translations. And I didn't have time to do all the translations together, so I'm just going to release a translation/ special content every day this week, starting with... 1. Subbed height measuring scene video (This one was not released by The Swoon or on KBS website - it was released by Monster Union, but then deleted). There's a cute little blooper between LJW and GAR that no one ever subbed before! And here is some pretty fan art of Jun and Lala...Check back tomorrow for more goodies!
  25. I'm finally here! I actually watched the first episode the day it aired, but then Lee Je Hoon projects were just everywhere and I'm crushing on him so Lee Je Hoon dramas > Other dramas ...But I was looking forward to this one ages before it came out, so was glad I caught up on half the episodes today! Episodes 1-3 - I'm enjoying the banter of Park Bo Young and Seo In Guk so much I just love PBY. I've never found SIG to be particularly attractive, but damn he is charismatic and he's killing me in this role. I think it's his combination of sardonic, dry humour, sadistic amusement and playfulness and his sense of vulnerability Will he make it to Oppa adoption stage? He might just in this role! - With that said, I'm still not overly sold on the whole storyline yet - I feel it's a little bit teen supernatural romance-y. The part of me that still picks up teen romances is charmed by the plot - it does seem well paced so far and I'm enjoying the humour and chemistry. The other side of me wants it to transcend this genre and be a little less melodramatic at times...? Especially with the end of episode 3 where she almost jumped off a building and told him she'd decided to love him...and he was like, "You'll have to love me enough to want to destroy the world" ...Me internally: That is the premise of just about every supernatural teen romance story, what's new huh? - I struggled with the first episode because TDK's life was so bleak and it was really depressing to watch I've seen many more depressing drama scenarios lately, but this one felt like a deep dive of all the horrible things that can happen to one person. But as soon as they introduced MM, I was like....I can continue watching! - TDK's jerky ex-boyfriend who was using her as a side fling was so pathetic! Haha, the actor for him has taken on similar roles before right? I feel like I've definitely seen him in something else like this too. Typecast as the jerky drama ex - But the silver lining about the jerky ex-boyfriend = Seeing MM pretend to be TDK's husband to get rid of him...I laughed so hard when he was pretending to call her honey and telling her to go inside for cucumber soup. She was speechless Also when her brother was searching for MM and he was laying across her bed and greeted them with a casual, "Hi Brother-in-law" - Another lovely thing is seeing Kang Tae Oh again He's so pretty...I can see why the writer NJN is still hung up on him and writing him into her stories all these years Hopefully he's on screen more in later episodes...he's only just popped in at episode 3! - I really liked that scene where TDK was teasing him about crying and saying that she thought he didn't sleep while he was laying on the couch and was leaning over him and he turned towards her and told her that he never sleeps even when she's fully asleep and defenceless and with a smirk, adds that he's dangerous Ah the flutters! -On the other hand, I'm not great with how MM was toying with her. I could get truck scene because he's the spirit of doom wanting to corner her into a decision and would do that to anyone....but the inflicting pain by not holding her hand just because the other demigod was implying that she was his weakness and would make him feel things?? Still, I like the personification of 'Doom' and I'm looking forward to catching up
