  1. Hahaha I'm just imagining you using the last of your energies to type out this message because it's too cold to be exposing your hand outside of the blankets All the more reason to support his collection...it's just so weird! I like it! 2021 Adoptions Oppas on the Eye Candy tier: L (Kim Myung Soo) Yeo Jin Goo Seo In Guk Kang Tae Oh Oppas on the more Significant tier: Lee Je Hoon Hwang In Yeop Obviously you all know my on-going Oppas on the VIP tier Jasper and Lee Jae wook Nowhere near @SilverMoonTea's adoptions Haha, I'm on Episode 6 of Use for My Talent - it's not as bad as I thought with the dubbing and it's a fluffy, light watch. Not super original (that old chestnut - the CEO who is tsundere but clingy and the hardworking, messy girl who attracts his attention) but it's not as mushy as I thought which is good and I do get to see Jasper again, so I'll take what I can get I actually really enjoyed Daebak Real Estate...I enjoyed what was there...but it would have been better with just some more romance of course Hahaha I didn't even think that far. I was just too disgusted to even get to the logic
  2. Hahaha ah yes, Kpop...the area I don't know about until the stars transition over into acting I've actually seen 2PM live before when they came to my country as part of a big Kpop concert, so I guess it was wasted on me, not knowing them at the time
  3. Episodes 9-10 - I really liked episodes 7 & 8 and hoped the story would straighten itself out , but then felt episodes 9-10 were really circular. Not much happened except weird make-up-break-up scenarios. I still like the chemistry in this series, but it feels a little like Strong woman Do Bong Soon, where I wished so much more could have happened with the actual plot. - Anyway, onto the actual episodes... It was cute that TDK and her auntie played chasey around a bemused MM. - The deity who seems to be the opposite of MM is a bit like a Jesus figure with her life being about suffering and dying for people over and over again? I felt really sorry for her when you see her coughing up so much blood and really suffering all by herself - I love Park Bo Young's cheekiness. I mean she seems to pull this off in all her dramas...but I think it's perfectly shown in episode 9 when she wants to buy the last designer bag for her aunt and one other girl wants it...and she pulls the sob-story-3-months-left card....but also simultaneously winks at MM...The other example of this is when she asked MM up for ramyeon *wink wink* to test him and he already knows these human tricks - The beautiful dream where TDK can see her friends and family use their presents and share a meal together at a fancy restaurant was such a lovely caring gesture from MM - The second lead love triangle is a bit meh to watch. I don't understand why they just can't say what they feel But as individual characters, I don't mind them. I laughed when JN threw the laptop at the jerky Jijo King guy only to find out it was not his laptop. - You know who I find random? Kevin, the auntie's Canadian boyfriend. He sticks out like a sore thumb when auntie barely seems to talk to him and the kids can't communicate with him. He doesn't seem to know any Korean, so it's just weird - A cameo (which has turned into a minor role in it's own right) that I really like is NDR's cameo as Prince, the bratty writer kid. I really enjoyed his interaction with both TDK and MM to be honest. I thought his talisman autograph on TDK's hand was cute and laughed when he skipped over MM trying to trip him...smart kid! - Dalgona = This writer's name just reminds me of the air-whip mousse coffee - The nonchalant wedding proposal from MM was cute. Who knew Doom was such a clingy partner? But I think that's why it annoyed me that she then wanted to "break up" by leaving everyone...it doesn't make sense to me. Just because you leave people doesn't mean you don't love them anymore (which means it wouldn't change the contract)? But I did like how MM made her say her real feelings. PBY's acting when she cried and said she wanted to live broke my heart, as did SIG's expression listening to her
  4. I know right? There's not really that many chances to watch your favourite actors work together since they're often done in male and female pairings, but I really like when it happens...and this combination of two really talented actors in such a heart warming story... I really have to check out Signal too since it seems to be one of those all rounder favourites on Janghaven. I think we'll always be praying for this for sure! I mean their chemistry was so good...I hope someone in the K-E nt scene noticed too and decides it worth getting both of them in a project together one day in the future... I'm hoping that less waiting (ie. the ability to binge watch) and potential warnings or spoilers means people still love DDSSLLS and aren't as heartbroken about the ending as we were...or at least they're more prepared to deal with it. Haha, I still laugh at that Stalker video edit. I mean, I always knew there were people with weird tastes, but it's so funny that they liked the stalker out of all the things you could enjoy about DDSSLLS...but I guess each to their own Hehe I thanks GAR and LJW for connecting me to LJH too! I probably would have still eventually become a fan since I kept seeing him in things like films such as I Can Speak and cameos like in Hot Stove League. Also as I started watching Taxi Driver ...but again, that was because I initially was curious about Lee Na Eun (from Extraordinary You which I liked because of LJW), but then she was involved in scandals and kicked out of the show. I'm glad I still watched Taxi Driver because it was one of my favourites this year and solidified by love for LJH along with Move to Heaven. But yeah, I'm definitely going to watch Phantom Detective and Collectors once I get some time and life is more stable/ less stressful again! I tried to see if any hardcore LJW and GAR fans screenshot his liking of her photo, but still to this day I haven't found anyone who did take a screenshot! Hahaha you guys make me laugh! While I'm sad I didn't see it myself, I'm totally glad there were eye witnesses who can testify and who reported that it happened otherwise I would have never known about it! Well, clearly he has to hide his likes so his 'liking' happens in secret Speaking of LJW, his agency has started a V-Live channel for him and he'll do a V-Live fan meet stream next week. It'll be nice to see it since he hasn't really done much live-streaming since the start of DDSSLLS Time to download V Live app if you don't have it: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQFity-AGqo/
  5. Episodes 3-5 -Wow he knows he likes her by Ep 3. That was quick! -Me: This is not so cheesy for a Chinese drama considering what @Tofu told me...then episode 3 happens where she falls on him in an unbelievable way on the escalator and their mouths conveniently meet for a "kiss" Hahaha...this is so old school anime/ drama cliche - LOL, the presentation scene was so pointless. I thought she was going to at least deliver some of the speech....but then Jasper ended up coming to save the day which is kind of disappointing. I also laughed that a random guy with a bucket of water was waiting to splash them in the dark staircase. That did not make sense at all - But it's been really nice to see Jasper again! He looks so fine in a suit and in nice shirts. But he seems thinner too...hope they're feeding him well in China -The other thing I really like is Shen Yue's house. It's so pretty with all the vines and plants and it's spacious and on stilts! I doubt this is anything like what real cleaner in China would be living it, but it's a very pretty and homely looking drama house. All the rooms have such nice personalities (ie. brother's room full of Basketball stuff) -LOL is that girl Shen Yue' character's friend...or a friend of her little brothers? She obviously had a crush on the bro -Hmmm, I did think Shen Yue's character meant well but didn't think about what to say to that client with a disability. It could have been taken in an offensive way
  6. I'm finally here....I just become such a lazy Jasper fan...the slackest out of everyone here @SilverMoonTea and @Tofu. Sorry Jasper Too much life stuff and was finishing a bunch of Kdramas before that. I don't know if I have any long/ deep comments on this drama either, but I've found the first 2 episodes pretty enjoyable for rom-com! Episodes 1-2 - The dubbing is not as bad as I thought it would be, but I still wish it was Jasper's real voice. I can't quite believe it's Jasper talking because of this! - Shen Yue is pretty cute, but I have to admit I'm grossed out by her stains and messy eating -I spend a lot of time laughing at Jasper spritzing everything with a sanitizer spray I'm loving how ridiculous it is, but if everyone was like Jasper maybe we wouldn't have covid? - Haha, the scene when he's at the hospital queue forcing everyone to stand far away from him? Man, Jasper's character is like the ultimate covid warden - LOL Jasper topless in Episode 2 - that was quick! - I find it weird that Shen Yue's character would be in the bathroom as the girls having the conversation about taking advantage of the CEO but not have heard it herself? - Actually a lot of the settings and cinematography is quite pretty for this series.
  7. I follow an instagramer called InYeopsubs and she always translates his stuff https://www.instagram.com/p/CPzwNZtns5J/ LOL Was this before LJH found fame??? I'm not sure what I just saw This was totally what I thought too Unfortunately, things are still not great in my world and everything is still up in the air. I may disappear again, so that's why I just spammed the Oppa thread so you all don't miss me too much, haha. I can't wait till things are more normal, but it could be a few months I hope things will be resolved asap though so I can just do what I normally do and hang out here! But Thanks for your concern! Hahaha, oh that scene you described was so gross... Yeah, I'm guessing with TW dramas, we probably just avoid the really bad dramas, and then with the ones you do watch, I think they don't take themselves too seriously and the romance is balanced with humour or slapstick...but I feel a number of C dramas maybe place more seriousness and emphasis on the conventional romance tropes...and some people like it a lot....but when it's like that, I can't take it seriously and it gets a bit too much for me Hahaha, our expectations of her adoption rates are high!
  8. Haha, I have missed reading @SilverMoonTea's excited spazzing these past few weeks Man, who is Lee Jun Ho? Those gifs of him looked kinda fineee. Hahaha, sure, sure...I sense occasional wavering To be honest, I think my Oppa list is two tiered - it's a bit more like Eye candy tier and True Oppa tier. Eye Candy Tier is: I think you're good looking and will save your gifs and pic into a folder, True Oppa Tier mean I translate content about your dramas, watch all your interviews and behind the scenes videos, write long posts about your character and will probably spend money on you if I see some nice drama merch/ find out you have a fan meet/ concert I think more of my adoptions go into Eye Candy tier or in between the two....True Oppa Tier has been the Jasper/ LJW / LJH / JYH Tier Wow, Tea is already forward planning her Oppa adoptions HIY is so pretttyyyyyy and so is LDH. I saw all these come up on Instagram and my expression was like... Hahahaha....we must show her the ways of multi-Oppa loving Almond eyes? Cat eyes? I can never tell....he just has a very distinct look
  9. I was expecting 60+ Oppas on @SilverMoonTea's list to be honest But she's almost adopting at a rate of 2 per month on average? How is everyone else's list going? I'm adding Seo In Guk as an Oppa. Doom would not be as fun to watch without him. He has such a strange look that grows on you, but with all his charisma, he is really something Haha, I also put him on the Oppa list earlier in the year, but maybe it was more like Eye Candy since I haven't looked him up either since his drama ended I guess I got carried away during Beyond Evil How do you operate on this level all the time?! Respect! I like that @TRaNz can just switch to admiring Oppas with us...but hey, I guess when it Rome, do as the Romans do, eh?
  10. Haha, I have to take responsibility for the things I've said...I've adopted one 98'er so can't do anything but encourage @SilverMoonTea in her choices So young!!! That's the way things are. Too many Oppas, too little time...you gotta be always active to always be on our minds Oh no...I can only deal with so much cheese I don't know why I can deal with T dramas but not C dramas. This will always be a mystery to me. I guess it's the power of Jasper?
  11. Ah yes, Bossam, I see your shipping is still going strong Wow he's literally played the younger version of everyone in K-dramaland. I'm actually really digging his cute and bratty character in Doom Why nottttt??!?! Hahaha you mean during the deepest parts of your crush on Jasper Speaking of my boy, I finally started on Episode 2 of Use for my Talent . It's not bad. Due to life stuff, may take another long break...but at least I'll watch a few episodes this weekend Hahaha in response to your pics of Lee Je Hoon 's veiny arms, I only like veins if they're Lee Je Hoon's veins I have to say I do people who collect weird things...maybe it's just me (see stationary thread for all my weird collections )
  12. I want to be back more ... I can't make any promises so far since things haven't really settled in any way. But since it's the long weekend, I've had some time to catch up on some stuff and since I can't really sort out any issues on the weekend anyway, it's been nice to do some comforting 'me' things like watch dramas and come back to JH for a bit. Hahaha, yes, this is true. All my Oppas who don't exist in my real life who give me great comfort through the screen I feel like SIG has one of those unusual model looks that grows on you over time, particularly when you see him being charismatic on screen....Honestly in K-drama land, it's always the ones that I don't think are particularly hot at first that get to me the most *Cough LJW cough*...Actually even with Gong Yoo, I didn't think he was particularly hot at first in Coffee Prince, but then he grew on me big time Different story for Taiwanese actors though. I always seem to like the pretty ones there *looks towards Jasper* Ah yes, the one KTO project I haven't and probably won't check out since it's historical Hahaha I wasn't going to say it, but since you've gone there...yeah it does give me Twilight vibes I can't deny it. It's not as bad obviously because Park Bo Young's character is sooooo likeable whereas I hated Bella Swan because she was so whiney and always putting down the people around her unless they were the cool edgy vampires . But yeah, I guess the stories are not similar per say - it's just that the romance is between a human and a creature of darkness. And MM is sometimes super angsty because he thinks he hurts her and can't do anything about stopping her cancer And they keep making up and breaking up because of it. Just watched Eps 9- 10 and the plot really went around in circles there...I'm not quite sure things make sense sometimes but I'll write my thoughts in a different post. Hahaha don't worry @Warm Paws I've been been watching dramas for like 15 years and this is the most confused I've ever been with a storyline So you're not alone. I don't think the plot is the strongest here, but the basic idea is that she's made a deal with doom and someone (or everyone if she decides to doom the world) must pay for her not suffering in the last 3 months of her life...Also MM will grant her a wish...but he doesn't seem to be able to do a lot since he has never been able to grant her anything she wished for And the rest of the story seems to be weird making-up-breaking-up elements from the other deity and the characters making non-sensical choices Actually, I think Abyss might have been equally confusing, but yeah, I think this one has more warmth and more likeable characters and this definitely ranks better than Abyss. I still can't believe I watched that entire drama Hahaha, I'm glad you like MM's house too. I totally agree with you on the hide-out feeling of the place - definitely like a Batcave . I liked the modern Korean mansion look on the outside too, when they were standing on the balcony and looking across at the view. And yeah, not a place I'd live in necessarily, but it'd be a nice place to go on a secluded retreat and get a spa/massage treatment or something like that.
  13. Hello! Still going through some rough times, but back briefly this weekend. For those who were wondering where they could buy a Jun Lala badge (with their Janghaven points, not real life money)...you can do it here: https://janghaven.com/membersshop/items/?page=2 And getting back to some late replies: Thank you! I've got the basics with Korean now so at least I can read a tiny bit and look up a lot of things in the dictionary, so I'm hoping to translate more once I get over these tough times Haha, yep, didn't cry through Move to Heaven, but I totally understand why people would - it was so touching and bittersweet in so many meaningful ways! Especially if it hits close to home on some of those subjects...wow, I hope your mum and her brothers had a happy family life through her adoption - my grandma was adopted. But she always knew her birth mum, so she was still happy in her adopted family. Yes, I totally loved the way that portrayed HGR - his world view was so different. But I liked that his father still reached out and connected him to the world outside and taught him how he could use his special abilities to make others' lives better. It was especially lovely to see him change SG, who was so bitter and jaded from all the things life had tossed his way. LJW's character, SC was the first to change SG in a positive light, but after things went wrong in such a bad way, it was good to see HGR pick up the pieces for SG. I have to say I didn't know trauma cleaning as a job. It seems like a noble job that reminds people about how precious life is. And it's really sad to think about how people can pass away sometimes so alone in the last moments of their life. I think it's important that there are people who help them tidy the last remaining parts of their lives! Hehe glad you enjoyed all the DDSSLLS content I was putting up. While I can't finish my translation projects at the moment, I have found some more pretty edits other people have made. Since we all miss GAR, here is a nice edit of cute Lala expressions: https://www.instagram.com/p/CP9jiCfBnME/ And another cute edit of Lala and Jun from a fan who is missing DDSSLLS...it's a recent post so nice to see it's not just use who miss this series :) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQBcXagHCto/ I thought you watched HP for the whole drama for some reason! She looked so pretty in the stills that I saw of her for HP...and I thought it was fun that she played herself. But yeah, can't wait to see GAR again...it seems she's waiting to find a good project again :) It's all good! I've been going through something tough in real life so haven't been here as much, but it's just fun to post here when there's time...totally understand when real life takes over though! I love his cameo in Move to Heaven too! It was so meaningful...and LJW was so cute Haha they sure love stuffing him into a school uniform too I mean these are all the times they've done it prior to Move to Heaven (including as Jun in DDSSLLS) Oh me too! I looooove LJH now. He has definitely been my new favourite this year. And I think I was the one who said he is like LJW! They definitely have a similar skillset with acting and their ability to be empathetic to different types of characters. I love to see LJH and LJW work together again...and with GAR would be a bonus!
  14. Hello! I'm back for a little bit this weekend - I'm finding MM and TDK's disappearing act from episodes 7-8 quite relatable because this is totally me while life continues to be stressful lately. But actually found time to catch up a little bit of Doom tonight and it was comforting to see TDK's life was miserable but then all these nice fluffy things happen to her....and I'm wondering...when is a Seo-In-Guk-personified-version-of-doom coming to the rescue in my life? Episodes 7- 8 - It was so sweet to see MM appear in Nam Da Reum's characters' dreams to threaten him to finish off writing his stories. If there's one way for your supernatural boyfriend to show his love, this is it! - Looking at all the small miseries of TDK's life, I feel I can totally relate. Sometimes life just isn't fair...I've totally had that experience where public transport breaking down made me late for a job interview! Haha, now I know it was MM! - I melt a little seeing SIG's look of pain as he realises that he's the one who has caused TDK's sadness over the years. It must be so lonely to be MM because he feels like he's bad for TDK! I have to say before I ever watched a SIG project, I never understood why people made him an Oppa...but now I totally get it. He is excellent at emoting through his expressions...his glares are really something too...as are his lovelorn gazes when he looks at TDK, especially before he kisses/ hugs her! - Have to say MM has prime real estate- his house was real pretty from the outside - TDK's brother is funny and kinda cute! Just looked him up and I see he is Rowoon's bandmate? I laughed hard at his "love advice" to his boss LHK. And I'm really enjoying his clingy brother behaviour now that he's matured and isn't being so mean to his sister. Also laughed when he reacted to the craziness of MM and TDK's combined house...and when MM kept reading his thoughts - I think this is my first time seeing a love triangle in the second lead storyline when there's no love triangle in the main lead's story. It's refreshing especially since I can now see the connection when TSK tells LHK to do the things he wants and not leave regrets in his life. The problem with both the guys in the love triangle is that they're both so hesitant to tell her how much they like her. I'm not a huge fan of JN's character, but I suppose she's a good friend to TDK. The kiss she has with CJI or "Mr Cha" made me laugh because he totally didn't make sense on her end...she's talking about all these things she wants to do with another guy including kiss and this guy is like, Well if you want to kiss I can do that - I love KTO...but I do have to say he's pretty much played the same adorable-silly-puppy-cute character since My First First Love and Run On. I'd love to see him take on a completely different role in his next project. - Random observation - That table in the publishing house with a glass top and a base made from books is so pretty - I loved TDK's words about how the good things in her life often come from the bad. Her words about liking winter and darkness in the middle of night and rain were so comforting, especially as I'm going through a hard time...and I also weirdly enough like those things. I guess I just have to look for the silver linings. Thanks TDK for making me feel better! - TDK was so blunt about sleeping with MM to her brother and friend - One thing I both like and cringe a little at this show is that it does fall a little into the angsty supernatural teen romance type of genre. But then I have to admit I kind of like angsty, even though I judge it...soooo... The other thing is that I guess I'm not sure if it's a bit circular at times in the plot...like it might have been fun to have a clearer count down of the day remaining in her life and to see what she'd do with that time. But I'm still enjoying the watch! - There's so many pretty and romantic scenes in this drama. I liked when he came to her house and held her hand and when he chased after her for a backhug...And all those cherry blossom, carnival type scenes were so pretty Oh and the sudden kiss...SIG is a good kisser or at least he makes the scenes look quite passionate... And I liked his vulnerability when he showed TDK her parents and he thought he'd messed up, but she was happy.
  15. It's been a really really rough week and I haven't watched any dramas because I've been under a lot of stress/ limited deadlines to help other people. And it's going to be rough sailing for a long while yet unfortunately...But I finally found a few hours to catch up and finish this drama Overall, I really liked this series - I enjoyed the pacing of the storytelling and thought it was a good balance between episodic ghost stories, which shone a light on all the tragic, painful, bittersweet moments about being a human, and longer form story arcs, with drawn out messages like learning to let go - HJA and her mum or the importance of friendship and loyalty - OIB and his friend. I think it might have been @Chocolate who likened this series to Taxi Driver since they're both about the sad stories of everyday individuals...I would say this drama was like a less mushy version of Hotel Del Luna and a supernatural version of Move to Heaven. I enjoyed the humour which was never too slapstick, but not too dry either - a nice mix of things that made me laugh here and there. Haha, I know @abs-oluteM will be the first to disagree with me, but maybe @SilverMoonTea will understand...This is the best romance I've seen all year ....Or rather the best Chemistry, since this was another KBS series with a promising premise for romance that just didn't develop the way that people wanted it to (It's been 6 months since the ending of DDSSLLS, but I'm still grudging over that when I think about it). But yeah, I enjoyed this series a lot. I often come to dramas for the Oppas and come out with a new Unnie crush and this definitely happened in this series. Jang Nara was soooo cool as HJA. I just love a cool and sardonic female lead - she was sleek and skilled, had excellent gothic style and was not emotional, but had a heart. I'm going to miss watching her and OIB gaze at each other Also Damn Yong Hwa is back in my Oppa books. I'm sure I'll forget about him again over time given that JYH only does a drama every few years ...but he was just so charismatic. And him and a convertible in the sunset? Anyway since I'm probably going to disappear again may as well make this post extra long and include my notes for last few episodes... Episode 14-16 - I'd just finished watching Hello it's Me! when I watched Episode 14, but I was really surprised to recognise that the posh evil aunty in that series was played by the same lady who played the elderly restaurant lady who can't let go of her son and feels guilty for not feeding him one last meal!!! - Although this series never went far in the romance department, I think I liked the chemistry and the feeling of how much they liked each other from the heart-felt conversations HJA and OIB always had with each other. I really liked the conversation they had on the swings where OIB tells HJA that his grandma blamed him for all his family's bad luck and that people often look for someone to blame because they don't want to work through the tragedy...this series had a lot of pearls of wisdoms about not holding grudges - Glad they revealed Secretary Ju's history in episode 14 with her baby, which was a sad tale in itself and also tied up the story about OIB's memorandum. Of course that wouldn't be enough to take down the bad guy. - Damn Episode 15 and 16 had a lot of Egg Ghosts featured. I had to watch through my fingers because I was so scared!!! - I laughed at the bit when OIB's friend was worrying about him when they went to exocise the egg ghost and HJA was like, "Don't worry, I'll bring your boyfriend back in one piece" - I guess the egg ghost made for a tense challenge since it always seemed like no one could kill the egg ghosts without getting themselves killed. I'm glad that neither HJA or OIB died in the end since they shared the burden of the exorcism. - I have to say I love a good bad guy that is a big challenge to kill off. DHS was sooooo evil and definitely not an easy bad guy to take down at all! He did so many bad things, killed so many innocent people (without having to do the dirty work himself at all) and really messed HJA up physically especially in the last ep with the stabbing and later the fight when he possessed OIB. I liked the idea of him dying in the human realm slipping on money and being trampled on by bums who he looked down on...and as a ghost, being tortured for eternity - But I also liked the idea that there's a price to pay for everything even sometimes punishing shitty people who deserve it - the burn mark and the loss of powers was an interesting idea with HJA's storyline though I was stressed about how she would do an exorcism for her mum - Speaking of her mum, that last conversation with her mum was really touching. For all her coolness, HJA really was just a kid on the inside who wanted her mother by her side. Also I missed her ghost mum when she disappeared for several episodes. But it was nice to see her be able to say a meaningful goodbye and let her go and know her mum had also liked watching her grow up - Ahhh, so many missed opportunities for romance in that last episode - I mean, there was the hospital scene where OIB held HJA's hand and was really scared that he'd hurt her...but she thanked him for saving her life even when possessed. They looked nice looking into each other's eyes. And then straight after she said bye to her mum, I thought he might comfort her with a big hug or maybe even kiss her, though I guess the timing might be weird...but he awkward pat hugged her And then when he picked her up for a 'date' rocking up looking might fineeee...but it turned out he was just taking her to visit her mum's grave - Aside from missed chances for stronger romance, I enjoyed the last episode. It tied up a lot of storylines neatly. The characters all got their character development, the side characters all ended up happy, the bad guy got punished and the crew still ended up together The part in the episode that I thought was cliche and overdone was the part where it looked like they'd split up but then a time jump happened and they all decided to come back together again and continue their ghostbusting - they did this with Taxi Driver too...it's pretty pointless, but I feel like they want to show the characters could grow individually without each other, but still want to come back regardless. In any case, they ended with HJA in a super hot outfit and Jang Nara and Jung Yong Hwa strutting like models to take down ghosts, so I guess it was good eye candy
  16. Sorry to have not followed up on my promise with more translated content! Something highly stressful came up in my personal life (but not covid!) and so I've been forced to deal with that first and it will take awhile. So I've had to pause my translation of the last of the DDSSLLS content But the good news is that I guess I can just release them for a few more months of DDSSLLS anniversary gifts I may be a bit quiet for the next few weeks, but please tag me if there's some LJW or GAR news so it'll probably cheer me up while I go through these tough times! Also not sure if you guys know but you have been earning points every time you post here and can use the points to buy badges in the member's shops (no real life money is needed, just your point earned from posting). 17. Thanks @mademoiselle @Tofu @SnowBlob @Jane @LaLa and anyone I missed for the well wishes It's been the most exhausting weekend working on this issue (which is only just beginning and will make it a rough few weeks or months ), but it was nice to pop in to see all this positive energy before I go to sleep. Hope everyone is watching something good lately so you can sell me some dramas when I have time to watch again! Also Thanks for making my Lee Jae Wook badge. It was an instant buy. He's so prettttyyyy
  18. Hello Everyone! Checking in...hope everyone is safe and well and not affected by covid...sorry if I've missed anyone's messages or tags! Glad to see I'm not the only one who hasn't been as active here lately. To be honest, something really stressful has happened (not covid, but something else that is quite serious that has never happened before and you should hope never happens to you!) and I'm helping to resolve this issue. It's going to take awhile, so will probably be here less, be watching dramas less and be doing all the other things I like less...at least for the next month I'll probably finish my Daebak Real Estate live watch, but I think everything else will be a post watch...maybe even the rest of Doom sadly. Was looking forward to Racket Boys but it'll have to wait I think Hope you all are good though and hope I'll still write something here and there!
  19. I just finished this one! I had no plans to watch this at all, but I was bored on public transport one day and thought I'd pick up something I wouldn't invest too much into. At first I was a little meh on the series - the humour was a bit childish for me (the dancing ) and I wasn't into any of the characters/ actors. But in the end, I really enjoyed it - especially from episode 8 onwards. This series was soooo heart-warming! And I loved all the lessons about: loving and forgiving yourself, it's never too late to change your life, money and fame don't make you happy = having authentic relationships with loved ones is the most important thing. The characters also grew on me so much -- I really liked the main 4 characters and their relationships to one another and their families. I found BHN relatable and loved that her character was warm and changed others for the better. I think young BHN annoyed me at the start but really touched me when she was so happy to meet the adult version of her friend and was genuinely happy (not jealous) that her life was going so well! I also liked the friend OJE - I can relate to that sense of insecurity at times and I loved that the tropes were subverted and she wasn't the one to hurt her friend, but in her quiet way she was brave enough to stand up to her mother in law. KYK was an adorable puppy the whole way and I liked him so much, including the the banter he had with his dad The humour also became much more polished later on - Eg. I laughed when Anthony's assistant is the new replacement star and turns from nice guy to meaner-than-Anthony. I also really really liked Jobs (who I assumed is named after Steve). I laughed when I saw his digital offerings of food on his computers and ipads. And every time someone called bull on his predictions and he came up with real info Although sad, I was glad ending was bittersweet - young BHN still had to go back and take responsibility for what happened and live through it. I think it was great to show that there's no easy way out in life, but you just have to keep going and make peace with things out of your control, but love and improve yourself and others around you.
  20. I'll get back to other replies later (also still translating, so no goodie for today I'm afraid. Sorry, it's been busy lately ) This made me smile when I saw your post but I saw it too late because the like was gone by the time I saw the photo! Hahaha sounds like you and I have been on a LJH bender since DDSSLLS ended. I know I have. I saw him in Move to Heaven, Taxi Driver and his cameo in Hot Stove League I'll have to go back to Signal too Hahaha secret affair with GAR? He doesn't want his fan girls killing him? Haha, yes, yes must always screenshot the things you like for evidence! Remember the curse of DDSLLS Nothing stays up for long~ I was going to do it when I clicked into the link, but then I couldn't see it by that time Hahaha love that we need all the details. I want someone to have screenshot it, but it seems like a lot of people missed it? Or I haven't found anyone who did it anyway
  21. Thanks both for your different opinions! I think I've been tempted for a long time anyway...and now that you've listed these other actors I like, I feel like I should give it a go. I think the bad reviews I saw were that CSB's character was 'annoying' ...but I guess it's hard to know what I'd think until I really watch it myself. I'm gonna chuck it on my LJH catch up list. Yeah, if one has a normal brain, there should be no reason to do it continuously and enjoy it I think there's the people with normal brains who might do this to one person in a fit of rage or something that may not be psychos, but still...you'd have some serious anger issues Oooh interesting. I'll also add to catch up list. Sometimes this list gets very long SIG is very charismatic so I could see him do a role like this and be creepy/convincing! I think @mademoiselle is like my drama agent (like real estate agent, but recommends dramas) @Chocolate I thought I disliked a lot of actors, but you might be more picky than me Haha, yesss LJH was in Hot Stove League - he was the annoying tech CEO The whole time I was like, "This guy is good looking, but why can't he just save the team?! He's their last hope!!!" Ah, good good. I would be more reluctant if these were melo dramas...I will probably try I thought you would love Youth of May since it's got pretty boy LDH? As much as I like him, it just didn't sound interesting to me. That, and I'm going to be like @Chocolate but... I'm just not keen on Go Min Si. There's no reason I can give though
  22. Hahahaha Tell me when he turns 20! Nam Da Reum is also quite talented - I mean the character of HJP from Start Up would not have gathered so much love without him lending his talents too. There were people liking HJP from episode 1, so technically that meant they liked NDR before KSH Who dis?
  23. Yep agree! I do think they tend to like some pretty fairy tale type endings sometimes where it's meant to be "touching" but it doesn't necessarily make sense? Hahaha good thing I didn't watch Mouse. I like LSG but I would have pulled my hair out (I guess I did learn somethings from criminology all those years ago ) Hahaha, I have wondered this too But that somehow would seem more evil to me. Psycho/sociopaths are born with weird brains missing the parts for empathy. But if you have a normal brain and you're doing that, it seems somehow more shocking?! @abs-oluteM It is like school - I watch my episodes and then I have to write weekly paper (2000 word essay) about it here ...Even though no one forces me...but myself But yes, I'm glad I finished! I think LJH would be so good in a romance. I've always been curious about Where Stars Land since I also like Chae Soo Bin, but it seemed to have poor reviews? Did you ever watch it?
  24. Yeah I've seen at least a few Korean dramas or movies where this has happened...I think the one I always think of is the film New Trial which was based on a true case (Iksan murder case) where a teenage kid spent 10 years in prison for a crime he did not commit because the corrupt cops forced him to confess. I think there are huge areas of the law that need to be address because they have potential for misuse/ blind spots in Korea. But to be fair, I think Korea at least talks about it and makes films about it. If we're honest with ourselves, I think this sort of sort stuff happens in every country, often to those in minority groups. Australia is a fairly egalitarian society, but this sort of stuff has probably happened with Indigenous teenagers who get caught by white police in the rural countryside. Racism and classism still exist everywhere unfortunately. Woo, that's good that there's no "time limit" for a crime not being a crime The Korean law I always find weird is that it's not a murder if they don't find the body...but there's so many K-dramas where a serial killer hides the bodies really well...a law like that just encourages criminals to get better at hiding the evidence Apparently you can still be charged for murder here without a body if they have the evidence. @Chocolate @mademoiselle @Dhakra @SnowBlob So I thought about this and I can still make sense of the punishment, though they should have refined it more factually to how a psychopath actually reacts. How I see it making sense is that OYC didn't "love his son " - it's more a selfish type of love - he prided himself on being "the best father in the world" (since his son seemed to love his dad and had good memories of him) and didn't want to lose his winning image. It doesn't sound like torture, but most psychopaths are quite lonely and are fixated on winning and losing. They'll never really feel sadness, fear or punishment, but it seems a lot of them have huge issues with being lonely, misunderstood and "being seen as a loser" to other people. So the thing about not wanting his son to find out about him does kind of make sense as a 'punishment' since it would cause all those feelings which are the worst feelings psychopaths can apparently get You're right too - a real life version of OYC definitely wouldn't have begged which is why we didn't feel it was genuine in the show - a more realistic reaction would have been anger. They should have shown him getting more angry and acting more violent than GTY or Chairman Baek (who are more realistic depictions of psychopaths!). They also should have made his son seem more like the type of son that a psychopath would value ie. someone who is seen as a winner, whose opinion he would care about if he hated him ie. scholarship student, handsome etc rather than a weak sort of guy, since a psychopath would not feel bad for a son like that and would probably have abandoned him anyway. And they probably should have shown KDK wrecking OYC in other ways - ie. taking down his book deal, OYC being sent to solitary confinement for being violent to everyone since angry about "losing" to KDK, in addition to what happened with his son. These scenes would have given the audience more satisfaction of punishment, and made wayyy more sense than the courtroom scene at the end, which was very unrealistic and more trying to pull audience tears I was telling someone about the last episode of Taxi Driver and someone pointed me to this podcast about a woman who discovered her dad was the Smiley Face Serial Killer in her teens and her experiences with that. It's fascinating, but she also talks about how she thinks her dad was a lonely and angry person. Also, she debates whether or not as an older person now she should visit her dad in jail because he would see it as him "winning" over her. Hahaha I was soooo confused with the eye. Was it really cut out? This is a donated eye? Real fake? Sooo many questions!!
  25. Meh, my sister doesn't watch dramas. But she learns the names of my Oppas because we are close and she would still like to communicate with me when I'm in oppa craze mode 98ers = I already went there with Lee Jae Wook Hahaha I find it's about 50-50 in k-dramas that the female will be older than male stars. There's a lot of noona romances these days and sometimes the age gaps can be like 10 years or more Whoooaaaa how rare!!! Hahaha, as always starting young @mademoiselle He's a baby!!! I see big talent in TJS and he's half Malaysian too, right? But I think I need to wait a few years... Wow, he's literally 17-18 years old?!
