the little kid is indeed his. He’s 6 yo and they’ve been separated since 7 years ago, so the time frame fits. The husband I believe is just on paper. The impression I got so far was that TJ is just grateful to him for being there when she was pregnant and play the father figure to her son. Husband knows about NYS and how TJ is not over him yet.

I checked out ep 13-14 on Youku and my suspicions were right (both of them)

The flashbacks to Vicky and Mark’s uni days are shocking bec they were really in love too! I’m curious to find out why they broke up and how they are able to act so cool in front of each other.

  2. @abs-oluteM coincidentally, I started this drama earlier today and breezed through all 12 available episodes. I love WC.

Btw, this is also available on Viki and 12 subbed episodes are out.

This is a bit heavy and I literally cried every episode but it's so good that I can't stop watching.

So it looks like Nie Yu Sheng and Tan Jing have a past but so does Shu Qin and Sheng Fang Ting. I am a fan of the actor who plays Sheng Fang Ting - he's a good actor and even though he's always a supporting character in dramas, in the ones I've seen, he's always a good guy.

I am curious as to how Tan Jing ended up with her husband. From the flashback, it looked like he really loved her but something must have happened along the way. To be honest, I suspect that Ping Ping is actually Yu Sheng's son. Considering how in-love Yu Sheng and Tan Jing were, it seems odd to me for her to have moved on that quickly. Jun keeps mentioning that the Nie family owes them. This makes me wonder if a) it's because Ping Ping is actually Yu Sheng's son and b) because the Nie family business had something to do with Tan Jing's father's death.

The scene where YS and TJ kiss in the shower... GAHHHHH! So HOOOOTTTT! :GengarCool:

I love the way this drama shows the pain and love the leads share. And when they kiss! All that emotion spills out and is so palpable.

As a mother myself, watching TJ fight so hard for her son makes me cry so much! The scene where she carries him out of bed because she's afraid he'll die in the operating room was so well done.

I am torn about JW as well. A part of me doesn't understand how he can be in so much pain now when he was able to put YS out of his mind for the past 10 years. But then I think to myself that perhaps seeing her and being around her again brought all those repressed feelings back to the surface and because he never really had a chance to do anything about it, it's lingering. I truly think he agreed to do the documentary because he needed to see for himself that CW and YS were truly done so that he wouldn't feel so bad about pursuing YS. Unfortunately for him, YS and CW never stopped loving each other so to JW, it feels like a lost opportunity all over again. The part that I guess I am boggled by is that from the looks of it, JW never really spent as much time with YS as CW so I don't understand where the deep attachment is coming from. For me, CW's deep attachment to YS is very relatable because not only did they spend time shooting the documentary but also that they dated for 5 years. There was an actual relationship with shared memories. The way I understood that flashbacks is that after CW and YS started dating, JW pretty much avoided spending too much time with them.

All this time, I thought YS never told CW why she broke up with him but it turns out, she did tell him except that he was drunk and he dropped his phone mid-conversation. At this point, I don't understand why YS won't just tell CW the real reason behind the breakup. Her pride and insecurity is what led to the break up in the past and unless she deals with it, it will be an underlying problem that will resurface eventually. Because of her refusal to be honest with CW, it is causing him to feel insecure as well and eventually he will misunderstand her.

It looks like we might see CW's biological father make an appearance at some point. It seemed to be that when CW was giving his dad money, there was someone watching from afar. I wonder what the story is with that one. I hope he isn't coming back into the picture only because of CW's success.

As for JW's mother, I wonder what her story is.

  4. Gosh, I just love this drama so much!

I had a feeling the CW was adopted due to the dreams he was having and it turns out my gut was right. I am curious to find out though how he ended up being with his current parents and would love to find out more. I adore CW's parents. Despite the father's nagging, he actually lets Wong pursue his own path. The part where they sit and say that Yeon-soo is perfect for Wong is just so sweet. I find this part quite admirable because they witnessed first hand how devastated Wong was after the breakup and what it took for him to move forward from that. So the fact that they are still just as warm and welcoming to YS says a lot.

I've loved seeing the friendship between the two Ungs and I hope that they get a chance to talk it out instead of avoiding the topic. I think CW knows now that JW has feelings for YS. The part where he thinks to himself as he is exiting the studio, "If I do nothing, nothing will happen".. I initially thought he was thinking about YS but now I think he may have been referring to JW. If he doesn't admit that he knows about his feelings, they can all maintain the status quo.

Knowing now that CW was abandoned as a child gives us further insight as to why CW was so warm to JW as a child. Since he knows what it is like to left behind and feel alone, he was able to relate and understand JW. This is also likely why he was so willing to share everything he had with him. CW has a heart of gold and I'm sure his adoptive parents had something to do with that.

I knew that CW still had feelings for YS but held back due to his fear of being left behind again. What I didn't realize was how big this fear actually was. YS leaving him was the second time for CW. He had been left by his father and then again he felt that he was abandoned by YS. I can totally understand why CW was so hesitant. He was building a wall to protect himself. Wanting to be friends with YS was keeping her at arms length - he didn't want to be so close but he couldn't bear to not have her in his life either.

I thought the analogy with the puppy was pretty good. In the end, CW realized that he has to be the one to deal with his fears so that he can move forward. Unless he faces it himself, there's no promise that YS can make that will take his fears away. It is important for CW to choose to risk it all again.

I am glad that NJ is not an evil and manipulative second lead. Her being a decent human being actually makes her more palatable as a potential partner for CW. For me, second leads are more interesting when I can actually see the potential for happiness if the lead were to end up with them. I think the one thing that NJ and CW share is the loneliness they feel despite the outward successes they both have and the need to put up a front to protect themselves. NJ isn't as carefree as she appears to be. Those comments actually hurt her. And Wong isn't as unaffected either by what is going on around him.

The scene where the writer (?) tells JW to look at the casts' gazes was quite good. I think the problem was that JW was hoping to find out that YS and CW have moved on from each other which could potentially mean a chance for him. The problem was, it was affecting his work. Instead of telling the story as to how it actually is, he was trying to tell a story from his perspective. This is why the writer told him to look at where the casts' gazes were landing. Because that is the true story. And we can see that despite what CW and YS were saying or despite how they were behaving toward each other, they always gazed lovingly at each other.

I am glad that YS and CW have decided to finally be honest with each other. I hope this means a step forward for them together. Can't wait to see the next episodes!

  5. I love this drama so much that I can’t help but replay the scenes in my head and think about them from time to time.

I was thinking of NJ and why the writers decided to include her character.

I think we all know now that YS is insecure deep down. This is why she keeps asking Woon those “what if” questions. She needed to be reassured. Eventually it was her insecurity that led to the break up. I don’t think that it was necessarily Woon’s lack of ambition, rather it was YS seeing Woon as someone who was so great that she feared him realizing one day that she wasn’t good enough. Unlike Woon who could afford to dream of a peaceful and quiet life, she needed to be practical. She needed to get the good grades. She truly loved Woon and recognized that he was special and to YS, it made her feel even more insecure.

You see, she was Woon’s first and only love. Perhaps she felt that Woon was only with her bec there was no one else. Or that Woon only thought she was so great because he didn’t have experience with any other girls. So in short, she might have concluded that she was his default so to speak. When I look at it from this perspective, I feel like NJ is necessary. So that Woon could be presented with a choice.

You mean the actor whi played Ji Woong? Waitz was he in HCC? I like his character here too. That second male lead who is lovable and kind. JW and CW friendship are also one of the good story in this drama aside from its main love story.

Oh wait! No he wasn’t in HCC, I was thinking of Prison Playbook!! I loved him there. He played the thief who befriends and becomes loyal to the ML. I  would love to see him more.

In ep 6, YS acknowledges that CW has changed and grown in the time they were apart and she feels that unlike him, she’s remained stagnant, too preoccupied with earning a living. We can see that YS feels insecure. To others she’s smart, beautiful and confident but really it’s a front that she puts up to protect herself and to help her cope with her challenges. She knows this and this is why she feels insecure with Woong. We can all see that he loves and adores her but she’s afraid that one day he will realize she’s not that great and leave her. I think this is why she broke up with him. I think NJ is meant to emphasize the gap that now exists between Woong and YS. NJ is the representation of success. The thing is, Woong did not and still does not have lofty aspirations. All he wants is to have a peaceful and quiet life with the people he loves. YS’s insecurity will only be made worse by NJ’s presence because she will think that’s probably who or what Woong wants and deserves.

There’s so much between Woong and Yeun-Su that despite how good of a friend Ji-Woong is, I don’t have SLS. I think Ji-Woong gave way to CW bec he likely felt that CW had already shared with him everything else. So this was the one thing CW wanted for himself

  7. Hello everyone! I finally started this yesterday and my goodness, I love it so much! This is exactly the type of drama I get so obsessed and invested in. it’s a love story, yes, but there’s depth to it.

The leads have great chemistry and what great acting. I was just thinking to myself that although there were many good dramas I’ve had the pleasure of watching this year, few have moved me to tears and then this one came along. I couldn’t help but cry as Yeon-su cried in the bathroom. She is someone I can very much relate to. Sometimes we have to pretend to be strong to hide the pain that lurks under.

And the ending of ep 6, as they look at each other with tears in their eyes.. I couldn’t help but cry along with them.

I have to admit that this is the first time I’m seeing both leads. I don’t think I’ve seen any of their other works before. I’m impressed though and I’m officially adopting the ML and adding him to my oppa list.

I’m happy to see Ki Seong-chul again. Loved him in Hometown Cha Cha and am a fan.

I love CW’s parents. Despite them being preoccupied with their business, they truly love and care for CW. The scene where they worry about his insomnia was so cute. Also, when they bump into YS at the live drawing, you can clearly see that they adore her too. The way CW’s mom holds her hand and says “Woong took the break up hard… I’m sure it was hard for you too.” Made me tear up. That was such a golden scene.

Then again, they've been making 21 year old YG a bit of an idiot, so who knows how the story will go. It's just clear that this amnesia thing is not going to go away any time soon.

Btw, why does SRa think that she spent a night with Gun? I don't think they've done so, have they? I'm not entirely sure since I fast forward so much I may have missed it.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks 21-yr old YG is a bit of an idiot. Sometimes he’s downright annoying lol. It’s like the old version of him acted old and this young version of him is too immature.

I don’t know why Sara thinks she spent the night with Gun bec I also FF a lot. There’s only so much of this amnesia arc I can take and I’m not particularly interested in sitting through all of Sara, her mother and Se Ryun’s mother’s scenes. I also tend to FF through any scenes involving Da Beom’s mother as I find her extremely annoying.

I think it's his sister's mother that he's yelling at rather than SRa's mother?

LOL yes I meant SR (Se Ryun)'s mother. There's just too many characters and similar initials!

I think she's banking on the fact that once their marriage has been registered, that YG, even once he regains his memories, isn't going to want to create a PR nightmare by divorcing SRa. The assumption is that once she is YG's wife, that she'll make a big public splash to ensure that she's acknowledged as his wife. YG can't admit publicly that he's lost his memories for fear of negative impact to the company, so he probably can't admit that he was tricked into marriage either. And, unfortunately, without SRa having committed adultery, YG wouldn't be able to divorce SRa without her consent to be divorced. YG could claim to be scammed but then would have to admit to the circumstances which could negatively impact the FT Group.

SRa, her mother, and DR are conniving and amoral, but they're not entirely stupid about the risks they are taking. I think they're underestimating how much YG will put up with from them once he's regained his memories though. With money and power, he would be able to make their lives hell if he wants.

Ah I see! Now I understand why they are rushing the marriage. I still don't understand why Sara thinks she's going to have a happily ever after by tricking YG into marriage.

  10. I cannot wait for this amnesia arc to be over only because Sara is so annoying!

I get now why they chose to include the amnesia arc:

    • It goes to show that DD is truly in YG's heart. Even without his memories, he has a soft spot for her. His heart remembers her.
    • It proves that no matter how hard Sara tries, YG's heart cannot be moved. It only beats for DD.
    • It allowed us to see and get to know YG in his younger years. This younger version of him has allowed him to get closer to his children and I do hope that even when he regains his memories, that he would keep some aspects of this younger personality. His younger self is more adventurous and playful which actually makes him more relatable to his children.

One thing that, although annoying, is also satisfying is watching YG yell at Sara and SR's mom. Unlike his former reserved self, young YG is not one to shy away from giving his strong opinions and I quite like it.

At this point in the drama, it's almost impossible to forgive Sara. I wish she would just stay away from everyone. Her delusions are out of this world and it's gone beyond just wanted to be around SJ. She's so intent on making her fantasies come true whatever the consequence. She even contemplated getting pregnant so she can make YG marry her faster. Has it not occurred to her that even if he were to marry her, if/when he regains his memories, he's going to loathe her. Also, what's preventing him from eventually divorcing her? He's certainly not going to love her after he finds out everything so I am not even sure what's the point of all of her schemes.

  11. Just started this one today and binged all available episodes. I have to say I struggled through ep 1 but I was hooked by ep 3 and really enjoying this one. Thanks for recommending it to me @SilverMoonTea

I had a hunch that Ga-On was the victim of bullying and true enough, the video was only a part of what really happened. I’m glad that TI decided to look further into it and I love that the entire group decided to back Ga-On. I loved the scene of all of them dressed up and walking down the street. With the way they did IJ’s hair, it reminded me of the Suicide Squad

I chuckled when I realized that although they had all dressed up for the occasion, none of them were actually going inside apart from Ga-On.

My heart is already breaking for WY. He’s just so sweet and we all know he’s going to end up getting his heart broken. I’m glad though that he spoke up and made TI realize how selfish he’s been and what IJ has been through. And how cute of TI when he brought her his suitcase of goodies!

i can’t wait for all the sweetness between them!!

  12. I'm really sad it's over but I'm quite pleased with the ending. I was sad to see the actress die but it was what finally "woke up" Marshall Su to his senses. The scene of all of them at the train station as they were sending off Su Hong Chen was quite sweet.

Since not everyone has seen the ending yet, I am going to put the rest in spoilers...

    Spoiler

I'm happy I got my wish to see TXL, Guangyao, Su Hong Chen and Pei Shao Jun work together in the end. Initially I was worried that Su Hong Chen would go the other way but I'm glad he didn't.

I didn't quite understand that whole fiasco with TXL hating on MWQ. All I know is that he was doing it on purpose to push her away for her own good. I just didn't understand the specifics of why he had to do that.

I loved how TXL figured out that MWQ was helping him with the warehouse/smuggled arms fiasco even though they weren't talking to each other. And how Guangyao gave him clues so that he could figure it out. I love seeing intelligent characters like them working together and putting pieces together. It's so satisfying to see them come on top of all the traps that have been laid out for them.

The wedding scene was really sweet but also very sad. TXL knew he was likely not going to make it out alive and the pained expression on his face as he hesitates to marry MWQ and consummate the marriage was very well done in my opinion.

I'll be honest, I thought TXL was going to die in the end. I was SO RELIEVED when he didn't!! Saved by the 3 marshals just in the nick of time. Sad to see Tan Si die though but I guess some deaths were inevitable.

I think it's especially disappointing because of the way their characters have been written for the entirety of the drama.  He's always been three paces ahead of whatever the latest plot scheme is, and TXL and MWQ have always been smart enough and so connected in their hearts and mind that even when they weren't communicating directly, they knew what the other was thinking or how to match the other person to be in sync.  This latest conundrum feels more like the usual drama conflict where she obviously knows he's being mean for a purpose, he doesn't know how he can be with her given what he's been led to believe about their family histories, and thinks she'd be better off without him, and so Noble Idiocy enters plot again... and really, we just want to see our OTP being smarter than the rest, like they usually are, and instead, we've gotten... this.  I'm still hoping for a twist of some sort, but with every episode that hope dies a little bit, and now I'm just looking forward to the truth getting revealed and TXL groveling for forgiveness so our leads can have their happily ever after.  :-P

yes! Exactly! I feel like this is so unlike the TXL we know. It’s like he regressed and he’s being so childish and immature. Honestly he deserved both the slap from MWQ and the punch from Guangyao. Uncle Liao was right in that MWQ had nothing to do with what happened in the past and that he really should be discussing it with her. Even Uncle Liao said that some times things are just unfortunate coincidences. Ugh really hoping TXL redeems himself in this week’s episodes.

  14. I have to say I’m a bit disappointed with TXL in this week’s episodes. I get that he’s confused with how he should feel toward MWQ given what he found out. But considering that they are surrounded by so many conniving people, he should know better than to just accept what he sees. I understand that he’s also doing some side investigations but I feel that instead of pushing MWQ away, he should work together with her to uncover the truth.

I felt hurt for MWQ in the scene in these last 2 episodes. She didn’t deserve that.

Thankfully the angst will be short-lived. I don’t think I can take anymore of this misunderstanding between them. I’m also glad that the actress made sure that MWQ didn’t misunderstand the situation.

She seems to conveniently forget that, and should be grateful for what she has already, but of course not.  I actually feel sorry for her biological father at this point.  He did all that he did so his daughter would have a better life, but she's so selfish and twisted, I don't think she deserves a better life!

yes!! I also feel sorry for Min Da Cheng at this point. Everything he did was for his daughter and she’s out squandering all of his efforts. TXL has been holding his end of the bargain, being the honorable man that he is, but Wanting does not deserve it.

  15. @themarchioness thanks for posting the previews for ep 33-34! I was beginning to feel depressed knowing that they were going to go through a rough patch so finding out it's going to be short-lived, is comforting.

Like you, I also find Warlord Pei more frightening. I honestly don't know how 2 such corrupt warlords managed to raise such honest sons. I would like to see some growth from Pei Shao Jun. What I'd really love to see is Pei Shao Jun and Guangyao team up with TXL to take down the evil warlords.

Too bad I can't understand what is being said in the preview but it looks like we haven't seen the last of Xu Bojun and there seems to be an attempt on TXL life. I just can't figure out who that guy is that pushes him in the water.

  16. @JenL yes I am still watching! I also love seeing all of Orad and Tsien-Ti’s scenes from before the memory wipe. You can see how their love blossomed.

Ep 8, I am starting to get confused as to who the bad guy really is  at first it seemed like Toem was up to no good and now Fali seems like he’s up to no good and then there’s the other creature that is killing people.

It does seem like Fali blames Kakarayan for something - not clear as to what he wants to do. I also don’t know where he sent the Kawas nor do I understand How he is able to do all of this without consequences. Like is this Kakarayan just watching while all of this unfolds?

There seems to be this underlying question of whether everything is predetermined under what is in the reflection of time (as decided by Kakarayan) or if Kawas/humans can go against it by making choices and sacrifices.

I also didn’t understand why or how Orad regained his powers. My interpretation was that he asked Kakarayan to save Tien-ti and he would give anything. Hence losing his powers. It appears to be a test of how much he was willing to give up or surrender for Tien-ti. Because at his most desperate time, he chose to completely believe/rely on Kakarayan hearing his pleas for help. This is what seemed to have given him his powers back.

i don’t know if we are getting closer to any answers. I feel like every episode just leaves me with even more questions!!

but yes, Orad is definitely swoon-worthy. I just want to see him finally admit to Tien-ti that he loves her and that everything he has done for her was because he loved her.

I think with the King, it was the sign of the times where corporal punishment was part of the way of disciplining the child, as the saying goes "use the rod beat the child".

I do think that seeing this King Yeongjo, was probably harsher to his son Sado than he probably was with San. I mean he literally drove sado crazy. But I think Yeongjo has the existential purpose of legitimizing his persona, that was why he was so hard on Sado, and even San. He was very much criticized for being low born because of his mother. So he wanted that appeal of creating a perfect heir.

But weirdly and probably worse with yeongjo is he did spoil his daughters. That probably is 1 factor that lead to sado's mental state. He felt alone in the world where in he is always being criticized/punished for everything but he could see his sisters being favored.

anyway for the most parts, i do think the King is really rooting for San. in his own way in that era, it probably is the norm.

I agree with this. I think that the king had likely contributed to his son’s mental breakdown. And yes, I think it’s largely due to his complex where he feels the need to assert his authority, power and position as king. We see that the times he is immensely triggered is when there is any mention of his lowly birth or when he feels he is disrespected. Like you, I also think he genuinely loves and cares for Yi San. Unfortunately his judgement is often clouded by his insecurities. He also cannot come to terms with his son’s failure to live up to his standards nor can he accept his role in it. So he overcompensates with San which actually does more harm than good.

San is stronger than his father but not because of the way his grandfather treats him. He is strong because of his determination to be a better ruler and out of a genuine desire to help people. I really loved the scene right after his grandfather slaps him while he was in confinement. I don’t enjoy the abuse but it made me admire San even more. When he said that he is used to the pain and knows pain but he tolerates it because he knows the pains people suffer and that if he endures, he can be in a better position to help those who suffer. That, to me, makes him a great king.

not to mention the acting in that scene! It wasn’t  just about the physical pain he had to endure from his grandfather but the humiliation of having to go through it while the woman he admires is on the other side of the door, witnessing all of this. It was so embarrassing for him as a man and as her master, the highly esteemed crown prince. I was really moved by that scene.

It seems to me that the head court lady does not want San to be king because she fears he will turn out exactly like his father. What I don’t understand is why she seems to want Deok-Im to be his concubine.

@suhodorable that bath scene was intense! I honestly can’t blame Deok-Im for “falling” into the water with San. I would too!!  :smug:
