I'm kinda enjoying this episodic ghost / demon story that's been going while slowly piecing the plot behind MengPo's lost memory..

Btw that professor that smiles alot? He's weird! I wonder if he'll end up as a good guy or a bad guy.. LOL

I hope they have lots of different ghost stories and maybe do something original with it. On reddit, a few people said they think it's too much like Hotel Del Luna. I don't think it's as much alike as I thought it'd be, but I guess episodic ghost stories always feel a little similar? I hope they'll use the legends to make the story stand out more in terms of ghost hunting. Have you ever seen Hotel Del Luna and do you think it's similar?

The Professor who smiles a lot is weird. I don't really care for him as a second lead...but I think he'll be magical in some day too since it looks like in a trailer he knows about the Ghost King. Not sure if he'll be good or bad though! :poliWeird:

  2. @Just_Me Thanks for sharing those new pics. Their stills are always so cute :wow:

@eNDe Oh I hope so! I want them to be happy again!

Someone on one of the forums were asking how many Netflix games did Lee Jae Wook & Go Ara play for Netflix?? I have to say compared to a lot of actors, they've done a lot of stuff for The Swoon....if you include the fact they also played some short games shown only on Instagram and recorded greetings to several Asian countries including Taiwan, Philippines and Thailand.... I'm pretty impressed! I've collected all the videos/ photos in one post below:

Also @stroppyse if you have time (and feel ok about it), could I put in a request for a translation of LJW's Fast Talk (like a word association game)? It's 56 seconds long, so hopefully it's not too tedious to translate. Go Ara's one was translated by her fan club (I put the video on the post linked above), but can't find any translations for LJW's so far

Oh welcome @JenL you finally found a gem that we did. Haha.

Better late than never, and this drama is just so wonderful.

Haha! I'm liking it. I actually heard about about it when it came out, but I wasn't sure if I'd like another 'reverting into younger body' story since I've seen so many over the years....but I guess it's always fun and I forgot that usually when I see this genre, it's usually a movie rather than drama - so this one is more detailed and interesting compared to the movies :MewHi:

So yes! Started about a week ago, but then was on pause because watching too many things. And now I'm trying to binge watch it just as it's ending...I am a terrible binge watcher....so you could be getting a post on Episode 15 like 1 year later  I'll try my best though since I know this series is ending today?

  4. Hehehe, I'm super late to this drama, so just some summarised thoughts

    Episodes 1-3

-Love, love, love Lee Do Hyun. Like honestly, he's so good as acting as an old man trapped in a teen's body. He had the mannerisms down pat and he also has like the world's friendliest face, so when he smiles thinking about his kids it's super cute

-I think the humour is so hilarious when it comes from Hong Dae Young (ie. the father himself) and the misunderstanding about his youth. Like his poor kids getting yelled at all the time  And that time he heard about his wife getting the news anchor job and he threw himself into the hug, which was awkward and confusing for his wife and son :laugh:But sometimes not too keen on the humour that is meant to come from other characters like his nerdy best friend liking the teacher...like not really funny? Just weird :ChikoritaAngryBean:

-Really loving how pretty this drama is - almost every scene with the husband and wife has been set under cherry blossoms - the first time he rescues her, the time he shields her from the rain, the time he collects her when she fails the job interview. It's just super aesthetic :hearties:

-Hong Dae Young is so cool when he deals with the bully. Haha, I mean partially he's a cool looking guy, but I think partially it's the confidence his character has as an adult in a kid's body. Like kids are often intimidated. But with this character, he has the hindsight and experience of an adult as well as the confidence of being a cool kid. :KittyGun:

-Wow, discrimination much in the Korean workplace? My friend lives in Korea at the moment and is not the ideal type for them, so I have heard about this...but I find it so weird that they would make a big deal of hiring a woman who has teen kids....wouldn't it be good coz she wouldn't then leave to have kids?! :ChikoWTF:

-Haha the wife has at least 3 guys that are interested in her? Well, she is super attractive I guess :idk:

-Epilogue at end of episode 3 was so cute with the dad shielding his kids with the umbrella. Koreans and their umbrellas as a symbol of love. Like every drama  LDH looked so super cute with those kiddies. He's so adorable :BulbaOWO:

    I'm done with Ep 1 & 2 awww I enjoy this drama....

There's just something charming about Ivy as Meng Po and Mike as Zong Kui...

Mike He is still sooo :wow2:

Anyway.... sigh.. I teared up a lil at ep 2.

Obsession even when you're alive is not a healthy thing. Sometimes it can help you to be better, sometimes, it can drag you down... Sigh...

Hahaha...wow, this is the first time I've seen you watch something in real time @Lynne ...I'm impressed!

Yesss!! I'm really liking this drama too. I think Mike He and Ivy Shao have really good Chemistry. Mike has the best expressions - he can give his co-stars that intense look of love. I'm not sure how they resist him :BulbaOWO::hearties: He also has the best smirk.

Awww, tearing up - was it the ghost's story?

I'm looking forward to the little boy's story...kind of creepy that his father is still there in the house with him :lettalKWA:

I was going to respond who in their right mind would say "I like negative person" if not positive  That's a pretty standard response.

Hahaha, I agree...  when anyone is asked that "ideal type" question, people will generally say a good trait, like "kind" or "cute" or "active" (No one would say mean, ugly and lazy either.) So can't really fault LJW on giving this type of answer - "Positive" is a fairly nice, neutral answer (not based on looks or ability etc) and wouldn't be a lie   I think no one is ever really good at describing their ideal type and everyone always picks vague words that give no real insight, unless it's something really specific about the looks they like ("Has long, blonde hair and 5'1 in height")  or their own quirks ("Puts up with my sulking when hungry")....but no K-drama actor will ever give you that much image-destroying information into their lives

@JenL Btw the original telepathy quiz and the swoon translation, looked a bit different? I'm pretty sure in the original, there is some mentioning about sunbaenim. And in the beginning they were quite matching with the answer. I thought I was daydreaming, but when I checked again its indeed different.

And now I'm so excited to wait for the Jenga...

Btw, I will come back later after watching ep 9/10 lols. I'm still behind, will back reading all the comments and join conversation soon... :duckhearts:

Yep, it's definitely different! I think someone else here mentioned it too so I had a look and the questions are different. I think @stroppyse said she might translate the telepathy quiz posted on Netflix Korea if she has time and The Swoon don't do it as it has many funny moments in it (I don't think The Swoon will do it since they already have one version up...They seem to go for variety). I'm happy to sub if she does.

Hahaha @SilverMoonTea oh nooo you're behind! I'll try not to post as much so you don't have so much reading to do here :MewGiggle:

IKR! Reminded me why I usually cannot tolerate such aunties irl.

Yeah, no way she would do that to Jun, deep down, she knows he's a good person. She's given a situation she cannot be the good guy no matter what she choose. Either way, she will ask herself (or others to her/ behind her back) if she had done the right thing. Also, it's asking a lot from someone who just went through a traumatic experience with a stalker. I remember the scene when RaRa just woke up, the first thing she said and the tone of her scared and concerned voice for what happened to her and what could have happened to Jun that she didn't witnessed. The memory of episode 2 of Jun being by her side taking care of her in contrast to episode 10, alone in the hospital. My heart was heavy for her situation and applauded her for being so brave to stand up, look for him and still manage to calm down, talk with Dr Cha and being kind to him. Even when Jun's parents were in control of the entire situation, at the dock, she probably could only control one thing, her own emotions, not to make things worse that it already has transpire. To me, it's the way Jun's parents handle things that were the cause and effect of that moment.

Hahaha the aunties are charming, but not when you need to keep secrets!

I totally agree - she would have been so distressed having gone through a traumatic experience and wondering if Jun was alright. Also yes! The contrast of her being in hospital in Episode 2 and Episode 10 was so sad :letalQQ: Although luckily she knows more people now. Still Jun always took special care of her and now she's in so much turmoil. Yep, I think the parents were the ones who dictated the situation. Lala is probably trying to get her emotions under control as she still loves Jun, but now it's such a conflicted emotion and she can't control what happens to him :PiplupCry:

You mean the scene in preview where Jun is brought into ambulance? At first I do think that Jun pull a trick to his mom so he could runaway again but then I remember the scene about Grandpa concern about Jun that get nosebleed often. (It means other than times caused by Rara, Jun got nosebleed too).

I think the body is belong to a pickpocket that stole Jun's wallet and (maybe) the Stalker watch (remember someone in Rara dream before she wake up after accident, it's shown a man wearing a watch and shoes, later on we know the shoe belong to Stalker so I thought the watch belong to him tool. So maybe Jun and Stalker arrived at Eunpo on same day.

Oh yeah, the nosebleeds were random, so I wonder if there's a bigger story behind them :lettalKWA:

Ahhh, I have no memory. Maybe I need to re-watch. Episode 1 or 2?

    - really love seeing the support that Haraboji and Dr.Cha gave to Jun and Lala respectively.

    - when Jun was shocked at the thought of maybe killing someone, Haraboji very assertively took charge of the situation.

Yes, I thought it was very sweet that they both guided these two. I love that even though Dr Cha could have said something, in the end I think he realised it was important for Jun to tell Lala in his own time :BulbaOWO:

    8 hours ago, ktcjdrama said:

    - the stalker said that Lala even came there to see him? Does it mean he is Twinkle? 😱 but I am still skeptical though. Somehow I think the death of Lala’s father secretary was a bit random. I think there’s much more to who called Lala over to the town. The town must’ve had some kind of special meaning for Lala. Was it ever mentioned if it could be her mother’s hometown? Twinkle is Dad, who actually didn’t die but trying to rebuild his ventures in secret?

Is the body that washed up the father's secretary? Yeah, I agree with @Just_Me, I don't think so unless I missed a bit?

Because he was found with Jun's ID card. And Jun would have lost that ages ago before he met Lala. And the secretary only came into money and was enjoying his yacht after Lala's cancelled wedding? So the timelines don't match...? I think the body has something to with the the stalker to be honest since the police said they were investigating other crimes relating to him.

    8 hours ago, ktcjdrama said:

    - shouldn’t have been surprised Jun’s Dad made appearance. He must’ve his wife followed. The real enemy it seems not Jun’s mom but his dad.

Anyway, the MVP of this episode for me is Seung Gi. And in the preview we see that these two teenagers are meddlesome enough to go into action for the sake of Lala and Jun. Love these two high-schoolers.

Jun's dad is the worse one by far. He seems so abusive to his family. If Jun's mum wasn't so caught up in the gossip with the TWD ladies and so pretentious and looking down on people, I think she would agree to also wanting a divorce  But I don't think Jun's mum is great either. She's a total snob, looking down on everyone, threatening the world because she can't control her family and throwing money everywhere as a show of power. I'd cut her off too if she was my mum honestly :HaunterOK:

In contrast, those teenagers have much more maturity when it comes to emotional intelligence, than Jun's parents. I think they're both so empathetic and protective towards the people they care about that I don't know who wouldn't have a soft spot for them :wow:

    7 hours ago, Just_Me said:

His funeral never shown and Rara didn't attend it too because Secretary Moon told her to stay low from debtor. So maybe there's possibilities that Rara dad still alive.

Yep, it is possible that Twinkle could be her father or the piano teacher. But if it's the father, it seems a bit weird because I thought Twinkle's messages to Lala started even before the father's "death" (if he faked it). Soooo it would seem a bit strange if he was acting as her Instagram fan while he was alive and still living in the same house as her? But they were close, so I wouldn't rule it out either :MonkaTang:

Omg I just started on the newest episode - what's with the K-BBQ bit?!

I die every episode when they show the food scenes. I think they focus on one food per episode. So far we've had K-BBQ, Ramen, Gimbap, cookies, salad....There's more, but I will be sooo hungry if I think too much about it :SquirtleNiceAhah:

    1 hour ago, Just_Me said:

But I think that he on yacht is really happened and not part of TDW ahjumas scenario..I bet he got something to do with Rara dad company bankruptcy.

Yes, that scene was "real" - it's a running gag in this series that Lala's life is exactly the same as the drama that the salon ladies watch called "The Great Traitor." They said it's always the secretary that is a traitor and runs off with the money. And then they cleverly juxtaposed that with Lala's father's scenario. I wonder if all this will have something to do with the stalker and the dodgy company he worked for Goods & Goods(that Jun did an interview at) :ChikoWTF:

    1 hour ago, eNDe said:

As for RaRa and Jun, it's inevitable for them to face the truths and we rather they had it now then later, for me especially removing the stalker out of the picture, but what's really important is that they have many genuine, caring people who got their backs. Therefore while Jun has to sort things out with his family and going back to RaRa, I'm so glad that RaRa has a place to call home with the Eunpo townspeople. Sometimes, such a bright person like her could suffer the most in this situation and to think how did she cope alone when her father died suddenly. Perhaps, we will also see some light on what really happened to her father's company and the secretary.

I agree! I feel like getting the age-lie angst out of the way altogether with the stalker helps to clear the path to resolve other issues like Jun's crazy family and Lala's father's company and the body on the shore and DDSSLLS's identity. And while things are tough, I think you're so right that it's lucky these two have such a wonderful community supporting them - especially this episode and the next :hearties:

  10. Only just finished watching this episode!! So much happened so it was interesting and exciting and so. full. of. angst :lettalKWA:

I just wanted him to be able to tell her the truth :letalQQ::letalQQ::letalQQ:

    Episode 10

    - I have to say I was glad they started with the happy scene with the meal with everyone or I would have been so super sad!

    - Man, that stalker was clearly crazy and deluded :lettalKWA: Although him telling Rara she came to Eunpo to see him feels like we can't rule him out in the running to be DDSSLLS. Though I doubt he'd be able to send her a fancy piano. Still this drama is written in a clever way that you don't feel like you can completely rule out anyone from the suspect list!!

    - I really loved that everyone just assumed that Jun was older....so really he didn't lie to everyone....unfortunately the one person he lied to directly was Lala though. Watching her process the emotions hurt a lot! :PiplupCry: (But hilariously, once again, Lee Jae Wook being told he has a mature face! Both on screen in character and off screen)

    - Mimi's responses to Jun's mum was so cute. Hahaha all that cued smiling....Mimi, my only ray of sunshine in this angst-filled episode

-Oh God Jun's mum hearing second hand gossip from the TWD ladies....I was like nooooooooo....I love those aunties, but it was like they were giving her the wrong bits of information!! It was the first time I was like, "Shut uppppp!!!" :poliWeird:

-Thank God for HY and SK this episode. I loved that they tried so hard to protect both Lala and Jun, even though they were mad at Jun for not revealing his age. I liked that they wanted to respect Jun's decision to tell Lala himself, but other things got in the way. I also liked that they stood up to Jun's mum and it looks like in the previews they're going to try to break into Jun's house to try to reach him. :wow2: I wonder if his dad has really hurt him or if Jun has hatched another plan to escape.

-Although it was an intense episode, the humour was so good. I was dead from laughing when Jun's mum saw the thug and came in to talk to him and the hairdresser asked the thug "ARE YOU A GIGOLO?"   And I also loved that everyone, literally everyone has assumed Jun's mum is having an affair. For someone who cares about her image, she's not doing a good job of protecting it, that's for sure!

    - It was devastating for Rara to find out about Jun's age and identity from the thug. I think because it was so crassly said, and just dropped onto her soon after she woke up. I read someone's opinion on another thread where they said Lala helped Jun's mum to capture him and I disagree - I think she was sad and confused and possibly mad, but I don't think she handed him over to his mum  - It was more that Jun's mum found her and she wasn't going to escape his mum, so she complied with her demands. Also, Lala would want to do the right thing, but I felt like she would have wanted to hear from Jun first. It just couldn't happen though.:PikachuFacePalm::letalQQ:

But for context, she was only 13 herself?

I feel like LJW has only done limited kiss scenes as well since this is his first lead role and the young actors are always a bit weary with scandals, so often more awkward whenever you watch them in kissing BTS. They all look like they want to run away  :idk: Can't be helped I guess. I always find the kissing behind the scenes more fun to watch in Taiwanese dramas than Korean ones since they're more silly about it and will definitely throw crumbs without second thought. In all seriousness, I don't think I'm a shipper. Or if I am, it's very low key. Well, it's more like I'll spazz over my actors' chemistry, but I'm not like dreaming about them getting together or planning their weddings or (My favourite of delusional shipping actions) photo shopping their wedding photos  I think that sort of stuff is a little crazy (sorry if you do it!) Also setting up for disappointment if they break up (Like Song-Song couple. Or Weightlifting Fairy couple - that one killed me!)

I'm just a sucker for off-screen actor chemistry, whether the main pairing or the whole cast of a drama. I just like cute things :idk::

all the teasing, banter, playing tricks on each other, knowing each other's preferences/lifestyles, pretending to be their characters off-screen and making up silly extra story lines etc etc. Oh and BTS photos :wow:

As a whole, I feel like Episode 9 is when all characters are more in tune with each other, even we see Ha-young finally come into terms of her friendship and love for RaRa and starting to see Seung-gi in a different light. The build-up to the ending with the meal gathering and everyone searching, worried about RaRa is well done. This is something I find similar to My Secret, Terius when the writer (I haven’t watch SKL) at some point, band together the characters to fight against the common enemy.

Yep, love the way the characters are all coming together and accepting each other wholeheartedly :BulbaOWO: :hearties:

I didn't think much about HY and SK at first, but I really love the way their characters have their own storyline, but also simultaneously are really involved as support for the main characyers.

Everyone came together except for the stalker (of course) and Jun's parents who are a bit crazy. I'm wondering if there'll be a horrible fallout from his dad suspecting his mum of having an affair.

As for the Episode 10 preview, with Jun being held by the police, could it be that the stalker tried to frame Jun being a stalker? He could deduce Jun is trying to hide from something/someone after stealing the thug’s phone. From there, his age is revealed and well we know what happens next…those viewers who can’t seem to drop this age issue (now why they still watching it) will finally rejoice. hahaha.

I hope he won't be framed :PiplupCry: But yes, the big reveal means at least some of those people who were weirded out by the lies to do with the age will feel better. The others are still waiting for a time jump, I think

    Possible new ally:

    • the thug, if he wakes up, he will want to really find the stalker now so thanks to Ha-young’s mum too for saving him

    Possible spin-off:

    • Grandpa’s complete love story, re-enacted by RaRa and Jun
    • RaRa and Jun need to gather here again to listen to more from Grandpa so we can be treated with more 1950s setup with GA and LJW. They look great for the part and setting.
    • In a comedy sense, I love it that they got RaRa and Jun to play Grandpa and his wife to show us the “Melted chocolate” story (not that they didn't bother to cast other actors) and weaved nicely into the drama plus I love films and dramas that require the actors to play different roles within a story so this scene itself is just soooo good.

Loved your summary  I do think the Thug is going to end up on their side. Especially because he was swaying to their paino playing  I think he was reluctant to get Jun to be honest. He hates his mum anyway. Haha, the melted chocolate story was cute. It felt like maybe Rara or Jun's imagination - you know when someone tells you a story and you can't really picture the people, so you insert ones you know? Or is that just me?

What has Lala(or Rara) received so far from DDSSLLS IG guy? Reading your comments made me also think he might be Jun or coincidentally he is all of the above in the poll. What I mean is, maybe IG owner is Jun, piano giver is Grandpa, the plant (during opening of Lala Land) is Doctor, not sure what the stalker has contributed. Lol

Hahaha, this is possible. But I feel like someone might accidentally say something that would reveal they were DDSSLLS if that was the case? Like they'd be confused about the piano since they didn't send it?

@stroppyse actually talked about it in our small podcast on DDSSLLS, if you haven't heard it yet! But here's what she told me when I first asked about it:

It's because in Korean, there is no separate R and L. They're interchangeable. There is one consonant that is halfway between an R and an L that is used. Depending on who is writing the romanization, they may spell it La La or Ra Ra, and it sounds the same in Korean.

@Tofu I listened to your podcast and thought you both were very good!! Also I was happy to get a name drop in it...I feel famous now :cool::laugh: I was listening to it while working and it was a stressful day, so it cheered me up to hear you both with her fangirling of Jun and LJW and your theories. I'm still going to comment on the podcast page, but I'll also write some quick thoughts here: I loved that you both covered so many topics. Until you both summed up all the loose ends, I didn't realise how many bits and pieces we still had to tie up...like I remembered the events, but I guess I didn't think of them altogether (ie.  the body washing up on shore and also whether Dr Cha is really sick). I laughed at all your fangirling - you voiced all my thoughts internally! (But I feel like I really have to watch Search WWW to understand LJW's role in that!) Also couldn't believe you guys went all that time before you got to baby Mimi  And of course, it was nice to learn about Korean language @stroppyse. I think Chinese is similar in that there are some sounds that don't quite exist in English and English speakers have a hard time pronouncing. (A bit like Lala  or Rara, some of my favourite Taiwanese actors have double spellings for their names due to the sounds being a mixture of something in between- eg. Puff Guo/ Puff Kuo)

This was such a wholesome episode with the people from Eunpo city. From how they worried about the thug who ended up in the hospital to how they all went to support Jae Min at his piano competition as well as cheered him on when he couldn't finish. When they were all sitting having Korean BBQ, it was like watching a family having dinner.

The ending and the epilogue. I hope they find LaLa and the stalker gets put in jail or something! :shocked2::JigglyAngry:

It seems like Jun's secret is going to be revealed in the next episode -- bracing myself for that.

Yesss!!! so totally wholesome. I liked how much all the characters looked after each other and there was a real feeling of community, where age didn't matter - young, old, middle-aged! :BulbaOWO: I sometimes don't care about side characters in dramas, but I agree with what you guys said in your podcast - I actually really like the side characters in this drama. Everyone contributes to the warmth on screen....But I'm scared for the upcoming angst!!

Urgh! I am so angry at the stalker for purposely injuring Jae Min! It wasn’t even an accident of him trying to pull Jae Min to come with him, but he actually deliberately jerked his hand so hard!! I feel like going into the screen to punch his face!! So glad that Dr.Cha took the effort to ask Jae Min how his shoulder got dislocated. Poor little guy, bearing such a massive pain for so long so as not to disappoint his teacher and supporters.

Yep, I wanted to punch that stalker too!! He's such an entitled, violent scum  :JigglyAngry: I thought Jae Min was so smart not to be fooled by his lie. I thought their portrayal of Jae min's fears were quite realistic - kids try so hard to please adults, especially those they like! It would have been scary for him to think he was disappointing Lala  :letalQQ:

However, Jun is no better as he makes up the excuse that he had run home because he wanted to see MiMi.

It's the reverse of when Lala tried to hug him! I love how Mimi is always their excuse when they feel awkward about showing their affections. It's Mimi or the running total of the debt  :MewGiggle:

  15. Late to the party as always but very much keen to discuss :wow2:

    Episode 9

    - Haha, my theory was wrong because the stalker intercepted and so the gangster stood no chance of capturing Jun. The stalker is by far more creepy than the gangster. The gangster is such comic relief though. I found it funny he thought the stalker was a competitor abductor.

    - Haha, it was so cute when Lala said "Thank you Jun!" and they winked at each other.

    - I liked that grandpa was encouraging Jun to tell the truth. I guess it goes without saying that the lie would have caused the gap between them if nothing else did. But I also liked that there's not been anything dragged out in this drama - Jun wasn't resisting, he was planning on telling the truth...but then disaster struck! :PiplupCry:

    - Thank god for the TWD ladies when the stalker was being creepy to Lala. I mean, they weren't super clued in on what was going on. But I liked that they were smart enough to sense something was wrong and instinctively protected Lala by inviting her out for lunch. It made me feel so safe watching that scene because I'm sure everyone has experienced that at least once in their life - someone pulling you out of an uncomfortable situation

    - Hahaha I love how Lala was asking Mimi to pick between her and Jun and then she said, "Oh right, you can't talk!"  It was so cute. Hahaha, poor Mimi put on the spot!!

-There were little cute moments between Jun and Lala - more hand holding :BulbaOWO: Again, Jun never forcing Lala into anything, just offering his hand to her. And Lala realising that Jun has always been there for her. Her lucky charm!   And also cute was that little 'fight' about taking her home which resulted in Jun admitting he just wanted to spend more time with her, even if it was only 10 minutes. Ahhh, it's cute how he needs her more :wow:

-Finally progress for SK and HY!! Again, I love how this drama hasn't dragged out anything. And even though this has been a leap, it made sense with the story since HY would have been mad at Lala after finding out she was with Jun. So this realisation about SK worked well in helping her to move on. SK really is very emotionally mature - he knows all of HY's feelings even more than she does and I'm glad the waiting game has paid off for him :CharmanderYay:

    - I'm sure everyone here has said this already, but the support team for Jaemin was sooooo adorable. I loved how much they all came together to look after him and cheer him on, especially when it was evident he was injured and not going to win. There was so much warmth in that scene. Also the meal with everyone was so lovely!! I was so touched at everyone being so caring towards each other.  But it's sad that it was a bit of a last supper before the angst :lettalKWA:

Hoping the angst won't be for loooong!!

@abs-oluteM I hope Do San or Halmoni will tell Ji Pyeong about her condition. Ji Pyeong needs that time with Halmoni, but I have a feeling she wouldn't and worse she would also tell Do San not to tell Ji Pyeong :letalQQ: (for dramatic impact purposes I think this is how it'll go).

Yes, I think JP is a lot more dependent on Halmoni than she is on him. And I feel like if she passes way, it'll be just before he can pay his debt, so he's going to feel real guilty :PiplupCry:

Apart from the letters, I think one of the reasons why the JP-DM pairing is so loved is because there is tension between them when they meet on screen. It’s exciting – the speculative/admiring looks, the missed opportunities, the ‘hey don’t interrupt them!’

Whereas DS-DM, from the start, they show that they like each other – well DS really likes her, but DM likes him for the wrong reason. So it is less interesting. Because, without JP and our question why the writer is giving him so much backstory with DM if they are not meant to be together, to be honest, the DS-DM romance is pretty boring (ok bash me now lol).

I totally agree. I think it's the anticipation of when DM will find out than JP was the one looking out for her the whole time. And it's the whole tortured-one-sided-unspoken-love thing. Haha, I'm a sucker for that kind of tension in a drama, so the moment I sense it between any pairing in a drama...I will automatically gravitate towards that pairing :wow2:...It can't be helped!  I prefer that tension, all the secretive-helping and longing gazes than to things like gifting flowers or showing weddings in a drama.

I do think this series is very good at making both the lead and second lead likeable though. I hate when dramas make the second lead likeable, but the first lead horrible (sometimes they're borderline abusive, but it's excused because they a traumatic childhood....and yet the female stills chooses the first lead.) At least DS is sweet and supportive of DM. And even though I love the second lead, I can see why they would pair DM up with DS - she doesn't need a rich guy to save her, she needs someone imperfect to grow alongside with. It really really sucks for JP, but I'm guessing the moral of the story is - it's ok to be vulnerable. That's how people connect with others, especially in love.

By the way, my dear Victoria friends, did you know you are allowed to come to Singapore now? The minute they put in a leisure travel bubble between our countries, I am so booking my ticket to come down soon.

Really?! That's lovely news  I was getting depressed about lack of travelling today. I really hope they form a bubble!!

My other worry is the cost of plan tickets though. I feel like airlines have had it tough...hope it won't be too expensive to travel :lettalKWA:

I don't think I can choose between these two. I don't think I have SLS because at this point, I'm not shipping Dalmi with Ji Pyeong or anyone. So far I can't feel any romantic relationship with both of them. He's not even looking jealous when he sees Dalmi hugging Do San. I'll just be happy he gets lotsa screen time and character development for his character and let's just say, we better brave ourselves of Halmoni's impending doom. I cried at the scene between them in this episode, so I'm sure if something happens to Halmoni we will for sure bawl our eyes out.

I feel like there is that one sided romantic tension between JP and DM, but it's more subtle than other dramas because JP is shown to be so  protective of his feelings that not even he himself can access them freely...:poliWeird: .I felt like JP was jealous of DS which is why he walked away when they hugged. Otherwise he would have endured the whole scene and asked DM what she wanted to talk about. But I think it irritated him to see this display of affection, so he just left. His personality also seems to be the type not to make a scene - he'd rather just distance himself from emotional problems, I think. And although he's harsh on Samsan guys because they do suck at business, I think he does, in a tiny part take out his romantic frustrations on DS, who he sees as not being completely worth of DM. But it's complicated because DS has also been an avatar for him to getting to know DM. DS and JP aren't exactly brothers yet, but they will be. :MewGiggle:

One of my favourite things in this show is the relationship between JP and halmoni. I felt a little teary when Dal Mi asked JP why he helped to cover up DoSan's lie too. As viewers who have been privy to JP's backstory and his long standing relationship with halmoni, we know that JP feels forever indebted to the latter for the kindness & love she showed him in his toughest days. There's a sense of guilt mixed with gratefulness that JP feels towards halmoni. I also believe that  over the years as they have exchanged these letters, there's a genuine connection that JP and Dal Mi has built.  The Do San that Dal Mi is "in love" with is actually JP. And subconsciously , JP has come to have some affections for Dal Mi , something that is beginning to come to surface when we see how awkward he is in Dal Mi's presence.

Yep, I'm definitely slayed by JP's story because of Grandma! :BulbaOWO:

I love everything about the way they sass each other, but care deeply for each other. Grandma breaks down JP's defensive walls in a way that no one else has ever been able to. And JP knows deep down that what she gave him wasn't just money, but love and care, which nothing can really pay back. Also yes, that guilt must be intense, especially now that he's discovered that DM didn't attend university, but he did. And he threw a tantrum prior to that. because he thought she took his money.

I feel like Grandma asked JP to write to DM, not just for DM's sake, but to give JP a connection to someone around his age - to give him a hobby and to make him more human, otherwise he would have only been focused on money and ambition. Even as an adult, protecting those letters are the only things that have made him act more outwardly charitable and vulnerable. :heiboi:

Going by this, it seals the deal and confirm Dalmi will never regret choosing Ji Pyeong as mentor. Choosing Alex will eventually resulted in a company just focusing on making profit because his interest is not in the people, but only Do San's abilities. However, Ji Pyeong's heart is on Dalmi's well-being and being a softie that he is, he will focus on teaching them and growing them.

So Halmoni will lose her eye sight soon. Meaning her death is coming soon too. Sigh.

The guy who seeks revenge - who can it be? First guess is the IT guy (twins) who was hired by In Jae. If not... I've searched the website for clues (character introduction) but tvN is smart not to reveal the person yet. I hope it is an actor who's really good as villain. I'm curious if he has any link to Do San, In Jae, Dalmi or Ji Pyeong in the past too. I also wonder if the character is played by any actor that was a regular in Park Hye Ryun's past projects. For now I'm going to take a guess it may be Shin Jae Ha.

I wonder if Alex will turn out to be more evil than is shown. He gives off a vibe that he could steal their work or break up their team etc.

I'm so sad about the grandmother losing hr eyesight.....nooooo....please no deaths :PiplupCry:

The villain so far seems to be in a lot of scenes to the Sandbox CEO, so wondering if he just hates Sandbox as a whole and is taking revenge on all of them. Maybe they rejected him or his family in the past causing lots of pain etc etc.
