So i was watching an FMV for UTP using scenes from this drama and there was a part where she goes to jail and i’m pretty sure its not from any of her previous drama. Damn, i wonder what happen cause it leads to her about to be beheaded too

Do you guys think LingYi ever have just a little bit of affection for Yuanniang. I noticed whenever he come home, he would look for her, maybe because she’s sick but it seems like she was still somewhat different compared to other people

Yeah I agree. It give her more time to realize that he’s important or possibly give me time to understand he loves her not because he promised Yuanniang to take care of her. 
 

i hope nobody go telling her that’s he doing all of this because Yuanniang made him promise or something then making her doubting his love

From my typical knowledge tho, majority drama with arranged marriage tend to go into conflict, divorced then getting back together with some dramatic reason

This is a first for me seeing “divorce” in historical drama.  Will be interesting to see why.  I suspect the killer is someone close to LY that forces him to divorce 

 

I did notice shiyi kept saying  to many people “don’t worry I know what to do”.   I got the impression she was saying that more to herself.

 

I kinda dig the way Wallace Chung walks...  I can’t explain it but I find it cute.

Concubines can be anyone, its just sad for women’s life back then, since they don’t get married in the house properly. I remember in the book they said 5th Lady’s mother was Luo Madame’s maid but even when she was pronounce a concubine, she remain serving Luo Madame and 5th Lady was raised by Luo Madame.

I was so annoyed at the men in this story, I'm referring to SNY's dad and LY.  How could they all so obediently agreed to what those women in their house told them to when they know that it is totally wrong. Dont they have their own judgment and arent they the head of the family? Or the first wife does? That is so annoying. I ffd these parts. Plus, can someone enlighten me a bit why would they have these concubines if they're not beneficial to their family power or politically supports their carrier or whatsoever. If they just see them as lowly one. I mean for LF, there's a good reason for her. But what about the other two concubines in there? Goshh

In the earlier episode, i think they talked about how they both became concubines. Mainly its about building connection with the Xu Family, thats why these family were willing to let their daughters become concubines (but technically these two women somewhat love the male lead) sometimes having concubines doesn’t mean benefit, cause they technically get look down by everyone, anyway. 
 

from my understanding from past dramas, wives/concubines are usually pick by the mother, thats why you see Lingyi being uninterested in them and just fulfil what need to do, by giving them a child.

In the book, she's pretty powerful because she's the Emperor's wife, because of that, Xu Family's status was raised and known by other people.

I don't know if anyone watch My Fair Princess (The Remake Version) but Concubine Qin was Xiao Yun in that drama. I remember how much Songyun loved My Fair Princess, she even talked about it in Happy Camp once.

It was when Lingyi wanted to go pick up 11th at the Luo House and LianFang was like "oh..let me come with it will make her feel more comfort" LOL...I was like...how did he agree to that? it make no sense, they literally fought 2-3 days prior, everyone knows concubines never get along with the main wife, LOL so for him to say "okay"

I go:  maybe he's acting but that that part i was like......uh.....

SIDE NOTE: The general guy beside Lingyi is cute tho 

I’m finally caught up to 14. I find it extremely funny how Lianfang thinks she’s so smart and good at acting nice but in reality? Everyone knows she’s scheming, they’re just letting her off multiple times. 

We're watching episode 10 and everytime i see LianFang’s smirk, I can’t stand her

After watching up to episode 8, here is thoughts on some of the characters. PLEASE READ WITH CAUTIONS IT MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS UP TO EPISODE 8. These are some of my dumb thoughts up to here, LOL I'll prob retract everything after watching the latest episodes. 

1. Yuanniang = I definitely disregard my statement from the beginning. Although, she's portray as scheming but it's because she understand this world isn't as "peaceful" and "safe" as she thought it would be. No one can help her except for herself, even though she's married into a powerful family but that doesn't mean she doesn't have any enemies, especially as the main wife. Therefore, her actions was reasonable, she wants her family to have status, power and a place to stand when she's gone and she knew that if she didn't do anything about LianFang and judging from her mother-in-law's personality, LianFang was definitely going to be the main wife if that "accident" didn't happen. We know even if this accident didn't happen, with LianFang's personality, she would definitely try to take over things or possibly even hurt Zhun, who knows. 

2. Concubine Wen = I like her carefree character. She doesn't seems to be too scheming but is she pretty smart when picking up on certain details, not letting LianFang leads her to things she doesn't want to do but at some point, I do feel bad for her because she understand she isn't loved by the Marquis. Aside from her sassy attitude, i hope she remain this way, I have a feeling she might be useful in the future. 

3. Concubine Qin = This lady is a mystery to me because from my knowledge of YanXi Palace, the quiet one are the the dangerous one. In this situation tho, I feel like she could be a friend to 11th Lady. I noticed whenever they tried to scheme something against 11th, she always portray this look as like "not wanting to do it but I have to because I am a concubine" PLUS the feeling of losing something you dearly loved, for example, she lost her child and 11th lost her mother 

My theory on Yuanniang's death: I believe her death has a lot to do with her mother in law "Xu Madame" judging from the look, it doesn't look like her mother in law likes her very much. Concubine Wen would definitely not the one to do so because I believe she's doesn't care about anything to do that. Sadly, I have to eliminate LianFang as she came way later.....OR unless she has some insider doing it for her. I have my bet on the mother in law because when Yuanniang was sick, she was already rushed to discuss marriage and LianFang was ready to be the main wife, why else would she be pissed to be downgraded to be a concubine (especially when Yuanniang was still alive, so that mean she already have the idea of taking Yuanniang's spot)

Episode 2: when ShiYi fought with the vendor over money, I couldn’t help but scream Jinxia

side note; these romantic music that played during Daddi and Songyun are giving me happy vibes but i’m use to Songyun being a respectful-graceful lady
