Though a far stretch from the group’s newer, chart-topping hits like “Butter,” “Dynamite” and “Permission to Dance,” the poppy crossover singles that would later cement the group’s international superstar status.

Following the release of the new single “Take Two,” the group will celebrate the milestone anniversary, which will consist of a series of fun activities across several landmarks in Seoul, South Korea where it all started for the septet. RM, leader of K-pop supergroup Bangtan Sonyeondan, on Saturday shared how he feels about the band's 10th anniversary, which fell earlier this week.

He hit the stage for "It's Kim Nam Joon at 5 pm" a special program held as part of the two weeks of BTS 10th Anniversary Festa, which kicked off at various places in Seoul on Monday.

"I used to go to school with Yoongi and practice when I was a trainee, but it feels amazing and nostalgic that I'm here to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a festival like this," he said during the talk session held at Han River Park in Seoul's Yeouido area.

"Kim Nam Joon" in the title is the original Korean name of the BTS member, while Min Yoon Gi is Suga's real name.

About 3,000 members of the band's dedicated fandom, Army, chosen in a lottery, attended the event, while other fans enjoyed the show on a large screen set up at the festival venue.

20230617000140-0.jpg

The rapper read the stories of selected fans during the talk session, assuming the role of a radio DJ.

The rapper performed "Intro: Persona," a Bangtan Sonyeondan song, and "Wild Flower," the lead track of his solo debut album, during the show.

All fans who attended the show as well as others outside stood up and enthusiastically waved LED wands known as "Army bombs" as if they were actually at a concert.

He also had surprise telephone conversations with bandmates Jungkook and V.

Jungkook, who called from Los Angeles, said: "I'd like to see you. Armys, please enjoy yourself." V expressed his regret for not being able to join the event.

The one-day event at Yeouido Han River Park is the highlight of the two-week-long festival that kicked off Monday.

The event transformed the park into a sea of purple, the color symbolizing the group, as it became crowded with hundreds of thousands of BTS fans donning purple T-shirts, bags, hats or masks.

Additionally, most of the signboards and structures installed there were also adorned in the same hue.

There were long lines of fans waiting under the scorching sun to take selfies in photo zones or against the backdrop of "the BTS history wall" and an exhibition of the group's stage costumes.

Also popular was a booth where fans can get a hands-on experience with tattoo stickers bearing titles of the band's hit songs and meaningful phrases related to the group.

Later in the night, a breathtaking fireworks display served as a grand finale of the event, accompanied by Bangtan Sonyeondan songs and narration from Jungkook.

Suga made a bold jump from Bangtan Sonyeondan rapper to solo musician Agust D this year, dropping his first official album, "D-Day," in April and instantly kicking off a global tour.

The two-month odyssey was set to end on Sunday in Seoul, with the world tour officially titled "Suga | Agust D Tour ‘D-Day’" making its apparent final two-day run in the rapper's home country, before Suga made the surprise announcement of encore concerts the same day.

Pouncing around the stage and shaking his head rhythmically to the song's growling hip-hop beats, he continued through "Daechwita," "Agust D" and "Give It to Me," before addressing the fans.

Cutting the talking short, Suga sat down on a chair and picked up an acoustic guitar, playing himself into the next song, "Trivia: Seesaw."

Firing up the crowd, the rapper served up "Moonlight" and "Burn It," both from his second solo mixtape "D-2," released in 2020. The old-school hip-hop vibe deepened with a nonstop run through old BTS tunes, including "Interlude: Shadow," "BTS Cypher Pt. 3: Killer" and the "BTS Cypher 4" medley, "Ugh!" and "Ddaeng," capped off by Suga's solo single "Huh?!" featuring J-Hope.

Suga shouted out as the large screen behind him showed bandmates Jimin, V and Jungkook in the audience. "Thank you guys," he added.

The artist made sure fans got much more than just a live rendition of his songs that night, and one portion of the show that proved that came next: a completely new version of BTS' 2020 hit "Life Goes On."

Before going into "Snooze," a short video of Suga and the late Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto was played in tribute to the veteran musician. "Snooze," which came out in April as part of "D-Day," was released posthumously for Sakamoto, 71, who passed away in March from cancer.

Suga, going by Agust D as a solo musician, is the first of Bangtan Sonyeondan to hold a standalone concert tour. With "D-Day," the rapper has so far traveled to 10 cities in the US and Asia, where he held 25 gigs attended by some 290,000 concertgoers.

The BTS rapper is set to continue his world tour with three days of encore concerts from Aug. 4-6 at KSPO Dome in Seoul's Olympic Park.

For the two-day run of "D-Day" in Seoul, some 15,000 fans gathered to Jamsil Arena over the weekend, with countless more joining virtually online via livestreaming.

In an explosive display of charisma, Suga, a member of K-pop powerhouse Bangtan Sonyeondan, set the stage ablaze during his two-day solo concert in Seoul on June 24 and 25. Attracting a crowd of 15,000 fervent fans, the idol released a whirlwind of energy that left no doubt about his ability to command the spotlight, even without his fellow Bangtan Sonyeondan members by his side.

Taking over the Jamsil Arena for an unforgettable weekend, Suga unleashed an outpouring of his passion for hip-hop music. The arena teemed with an ocean of devoted fandom, each clutching "BTS Army Bomb" official group light sticks, which they held up as radiant symbols of their support for Bangtan Sonyeondam and its members. Chants of Suga's name rippled through the air, long before he stepped foot on stage.

Although Bangtan Sonyeondan had temporarily pressed pause on their group activities in 2022, Suga managed to seize the moment. He dropped his full-length solo album, "D-Day," on April 21, marking a triumphant return after a three-year hiatus from solo projects since his smash hit "D-2" in 2020.

Bangtan Sonyeondan Jimin continues to dominate different music consumption platforms with his lead single 'Like Crazy', further asserting his impact outside of his group Bangtan Sonyeondan. Since its release approximately 3 months ago, Jimin has been on a record breaking spree in terms of streaming numbers particularly on the world's largest music-streaming platform, Spotify and the situation is no different with his sales data on iTunes chart. Jimin has yet again reached the highest possible peak of achievements on this platform, setting a new world record.

According to Big Hit Music, J-hope's previous single "On the street" continuously charted at 16th with 8,294,403 streams on the latest Spotify Daily Top 50 Global charts.

In addition to that, "On the street" also topped 80 regional iTunes Top Songs "On the street" also debuted at the top of Japan's Oricon Daily Digital Single Chart.

What's even more impressive is that J-Hope achieved this feat with the same track on two different sales-related rankings: the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and the Rap Digital Song Sales charts.

J. Cole's inclusion on "On the Street" has certainly helped J-Hope's chances at success. The rapper is credited as a featured act, bringing his talent, popularity and credibility to the hip-hop music. For now, “On the Street” appears to be a standalone single.
