Bangtan Sonyeondan hit track 'Butter' has bagged the 'Foreign Work Award' at the Japan Music Copyright Association.

 

On May 24, the Japan Music Copyright Association JASRAC announced this year's rankings based on the distribution of copyright usage fees. The count of streaming plays was substantiated by data from Billboard Japan.

 

Bangtan Sonyeondan 'Butter' has received this year's Foreign Work Award. 'Butter' topped the distribution of interactive transmission fees for foreign works, marking their second win after 'Dynamite' released in May 2021.

 

According to this year’s tally of copyright royalties, Bangtan Sonyeondan “Butter” earned the largest total royalties among foreign musical works.

The band’s two other hit singles “Permission to Dance” and “Dynamite” also ranked third and fourth in this year’s Top 10 Foreign Income Works chart, respectively. “Dynamite” also won the Jasrac’s Foreign Work Award last year.

K-pop superstar group Bangtan Sonyeondan is throwing a city-wide festival for its 10th anniversary next month in collaboration with the Seoul city government, Big Hit Music announced Thursday.

 

Under the title "Bangtan Sonyeondan  Festa," the seven-member group has held a festival every year to mark its June 13 debut anniversary, but this is the first time the agency has teamed up with a city government for the annual festival.

 

"In celebration of the band's 10th anniversary, we're rolling out a special event in collaboration with Seoul city," Big Hit Music said in its statement, adding, "Various events will take place both online and on-site, painting Seoul purple."

 

According to Big Hit Music, this year's "Bangtan Sonyeondan  Festa" will take place under the slogan "Bangtan Sonyeondan  Presents Everywhere."

 

Major landmark points around the capital, including Sebitseom, Namsan Seoul Tower, Dongdaemun Plaza and the World Cup Bridge, will light up in Bangtan Sonyeondan signature purple color for two weeks starting June 12.

A variety of events and programs will be launched in Yeouido and other parts of the city for fans to enjoy and immerse themselves in.

 

The main event will take place on June 17 at Yeouido Hangang Park, the agency said. "The event will be a festival for not only Bangtan Sonyeondan  fandom Army but all people to enjoy," it added.

 

The group also posted a trailer video for the celebration on its social media on Friday, unveiling the slogan "Bangtan Sonyeondan Presents Everywhere." Big Hit Music explained the slogan conveys the messages that "Bangtan Sonyeondan presents are everywhere" and "Bangtan Sonyeondan  is everywhere."

Bangtan Sonyeondan leader Kim Namjoon also stage name RM made headlines two month ago after it was revealed that his privacy was invaded by an employee of Korean railways. The news first appeared on Korean TV channel SBS where it was revealed that the employee of Korail accessed RM’s private information at least 18 times since 2019, without any authority. It was revealed that the employee used the information for personal reasons like ensuring booking tickets next to him.

 

From RM’s home address, to his telephone number, the Korail employee accessed all information without any consequences. As soon as the news was revealed, worldwide fans of Bangtan Sonyeondan expressed a their furore over it.

 

Taking cognizance of it, Big Hit Music assured that necessary action will be taken against the accused. After an internal audit, Korail stated, "We confirmed 'A' accessed personal information without permission, but it has not been confirmed that 'A' leaked the information outside the company." 'A' has since been fired from Korail. When questioned by SBS 8 News, 'A' stated, "I accessed it simply out of curiosity and I'll be reflecting on myself."

 

 

 

 

On April 29, it was reported by EDaily that KORAIL had decided to fire the employee. Although the inspection board had originally requested a suspension, the case ended with a strong punishment. The backend staff was fired for violating the duty of maintaining their responsibilities at work.

 

Their crime was considered serious since they had accessed the data consistently for three years since 2019. They had accessed the information 18 times, mining personal information such as his ticket and seat, phone number, address, and more. At times, they accessed the information to satisfy the curiosity of their colleague.

 

The perpetrator admitted to having “accessed RM’s reservation information to go see him in real life” and “told their friend which seat RM was at, so they could reserve a nearby seat.” KORAIL stated that their former employee was a sasaeng fan and had only done so out of curiosity.

Group member Bangtan Sonyeondan J-Hope whose full name is Jung Ho Seok was selected as an assistant at the boot camp.

 

 

 

 

An official from the Army's 36th Infantry Division said on the 31st, "The soldier J-Hope was selected as an assistant at the Baekho Recruit Training Center after going through a small evaluation process." He then explained, "He will receive training for a certain period of time and will be certified as a teaching assistant."

 

On the 18th of last month, J-Hope entered the 36th Infantry Division Baekho Recruit Training Center in Socho-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, and recently completed basic military training.

 

J-Hope enlisted as an active duty soldier in April. J-Hope became the second member of K-pop sensation Bangtan Sonyeondan to enlist the Korean military after Kim Seok Jin, also stage name Jin who is the oldest member in Bangtan Sonyeondan became the band’s first member to enter the army and he is currently working as an assistant instructor in the 5th Infantry Division of the Army in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.

 

Five other younger Bangtan Sonyeondan members RM, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook  are to join the South Korean military one by one in the coming years. Meanwhile, the world’s biggest boy band is expected to reconvene as a group again a few years later.

RM of Bangtan Sonyeondan will be named the honorary ambassador for the Defense Ministry's Agency for KIA Recovery & Identification on Thursday, his agency Big Hit Music told the News1 on Wednesday.
 
The ministry's recovery agency, founded in 2020, aims to search and identify soldiers lost in the Korean War.
 
The agency has so far recovered the remains of 13,121 military personnel killed during the war, including 11,313 Korean soldiers and 32 soldiers under the command of the United Nations.

 

RM, as the honorary ambassador, will help the agency promote its efforts and works.
 
Previously, Korean war veteran and television presenter Song Hae and professor Seo Kyoung Duk, known for his works promoting Korean culture, served as the honorary ambassadors for the agency.
 
Bangtan Sonyeondan leader, rapper, songwriter and producer RM made his official debut as a member of boy band Bangtan Sonyeondan in 2013. RM released his first full-length solo album, "Indigo," in December 2022.

K-pop supergroup Bangtan Sonyeondan will release a new digital single, "Take Two," with a full lineup on June 9 as part of events marking the 10th anniversary of its debut, its agency said Thursday.

 

Seven members participated in the new single to thank its fans and express wishes for their continued support, Big Hit Music said.

 

2023 Bangtan Sonyeondan Festa kicked off earlier in the day at various venues in Seoul to celebrate its debut anniversary, which falls on June 13.

 

This year's edition will take place from June 12-25 at the city's major landmarks jointly with the Seoul metropolitan government, under the slogan "Bangtan Sonyeondan presents everywhere."

 

During the festival, various venues, including the Sevit floating island on the Han River, the N Seoul Tower in Mount Nam Park, Seoul City Hall, Dongdaemun Design Plaza and the World Cup Bridge, will be bathed in purple.

 

The highlight of the festival, the main event, will take place at Han River Park in Yeouido on June 17.
