State-run minting agency on Friday said it will roll out its second batch of gold medals that commemorate the 10th anniversary of K-pop super band Bangtan Sonyeondan. 

 

The new medals, which follow the immense success of such Bangtan Sonyeondan medals last year, will be engraved with the portraits of all Bangtan Sonyeondan members using cutting-edge technology, according to the Korea Minting, Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corp. (KOMSCO). 

 

The new medals are currently on final design works, the firm said, without revealing the date of release. 

 

KOMSCO first presented the commemorative medal in December last year. The medal, which implemented Bangtan Sonyeondan logo on one side and number 10 on the other, sold 10,000 copies, marking the fattest sales of any commemorative medals produced by the minting company.

 

Among them, one-ounce gold medals, only issued in a limited quantity of 1,000, sold out in mere two hours of sales on e-commerce platform Weverse Shop, KOMSCO said.

On May 20th, pictures of J-hope after his late-night march reassured fans as he seemed to be doing well in the military. Back in April, rapper, dancer, songwriter and producer J-Hope enlisted at the 36th Division Recruit Training Center in Gangwon-do, where he is currently undergoing basic military training. A portrait photography exhibition featuring portraits of artists repped by the K-pop powerhouse Hybe will be running from June 9 to August 27, its organizer said Monday.

 

Titled “The Daydream Believers,” the event will be held at an exhibition hall stationed in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, according to Hybe’s exhibition brand, Hybe Insight.

 

The exhibition will include portraits of Hybe Labels including Bangtan Sonyeondan. Meanwhile, four groups of Hybe Labels such as Seventeen, TXT, Enhypen and Le Sserafim will participate. The portraits have vividly captured the moments of K-pop stars who achieved their dreams after making all-out efforts.

 

In order to match the concept of a photography studio, the 2-floor exhibition hall will recreate hair and makeup rooms, fitting rooms, filming sets and a darkroom for photo printing.

 

The costumes, sets and props that stars actually wore and used while shooting the exhibited portraits will also be displayed.

After  Bangtan Sonyeondan Jin, J-Hope became the second member of the septet to enlist for his mandatory military duty on April 17.

 

 

In a statement posted on fan community forum Weverse, Big Hit Music expressed gratitude towards Army, the fan group of the band, for supporting Bangtan Sonyeondan over the years. Commemorative stamps marking the tenth anniversary of the debut of K-pop sensation Bangtan Sonyeondan sold out after going on pre-sale online on Monday.

According to the Korea Post on Tuesday, 12-thousand collections of ten stamps all sold out by 10 p.m. Monday, just three hours after they were put on sale at the agency's online postal  service and mobile app.

The agency said a total of 55-thousand packets containing the collection of ten stamps and a stamp book were sold as of 7 a.m Tuesday out of a total of 150-thousand packets. The remainder will be put on sale until midnight Thursday.

Online pre-sales for overseas customers will begin on June 1. on Korea Post's website. It will be sold through social media authentication without any membership registration process.

For those unable to take advantage of the online pre-sale service, commemorative stamps and commemorative stamp packets will be available for purchase at post offices nationwide from the 13th of next month. Bangtan Sonyeondan is continuing to perform well on the US Billboard charts with individual activities. A full month after its release, Bangtan Sonyeondan Suga’s first official solo album is still going strong on the Billboard 200.

 

Earlier this month, Suga’s solo album “D-Day” debuted at No. 2 on the Top 200 Albums chart, tying his bandmate Jimin’s record for the highest-ranking Korean solo album in Billboard 200 history. The debut also made Suga the first K-pop soloist with two top 20 albums, as his 2020 mixtape “D-2” previously reached No. 11 on the chart. 

 

On May 24 local time, Billboard revealed that “D-Day” had charted for its fourth consecutive week on the Billboard 200 at No. 51 continuously “D-Day” has achieved the highest ranking of any Korean solo album in its fourth week on the Billboard 200.

 

“D-Day” also held steady at No. 3 on Billboard’s World Albums chart, No. 8 on the Top Current Album Sales chart, No. 9 on the Top Album Sales chart and No. 13 on the Top Rap Albums chart this week.

 

Suga’s title track “Haegeum” climbed back up to No. 6 in its fourth consecutive week on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. Suga charted at No. 36 on the Artist 100 under the name Agust D, marking his fifth week on the chart as Agust D and his sixth overall.

Meanwhile, Bangtan Sonyeondan Jimin's first solo album 'FACE' is also on a long run. It ranked 7th in 'World Album', 38th in 'Top Current Album' and 59th in 'Top Album Sales'.

 

The title song "Like Crazy" also ranked 26th on the "Global excluding the US" and 39th on the "Global 200" amid steady popularity. The movie 'Fast and Furious: Ride or Die' OST 'Angel Part.1', in which Jimin participated, also entered various charts. It ranked 5th in 'R&B Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales' and 'Rap Digital Song Sales' respectively, and 27th in 'Digital Song Sales'.

Jeonnam Girls’ High School held the annual 'Bangtan Sonyeondan J-Hope Scholarship' ceremony on the 23rd, awarding scholarships and certificates to 10 outstanding students from low-income families to support their educational needs.

According to reports, scholarships amounting to 500,000 won per person were awarded to 10 students with excellent academic performance and good attitude.

 

Since 2019, a total of 50 students have received J-Hope scholarships so far, with a cumulative total of 25 million won.

 

Hence, back in 2019, Gwangju-born rapper, dancer, songwriter and producer J-Hope of Bangtan Sonyeondan donated 100 million won in scholarships to schools through the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation's Gwangju regional headquarters.
