last April, it was reported that Bangtan Sonyeondan will release a full-group OST for the k-anime "Bastions". on May 2nd, the show finally announced additional details about the music release. according to korean media outlets, Bangtan Sonyeondan  new song "The Planet" which is part OST for the 3D action hero animation "Bastions" will be released on various music sites on May 12th at 1 pm. "Bastions" is a 3D action hero animation about a new hero who appeared in a highly competitive hero world, revealing the identity of villain, the main culprit of environmental destruction, saving the Earth in crisis and growing into a true hero. After rolling out his very first solo album on April 21 by his other stage name Agust D, the artist kicked off his first world tour as a soloist at UBS Arena which located at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.

Bangtan Sonyeondan Suga, under the alias of Agust D, landed at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on May 6 with his first official solo album, “D-Day,” according to Billboard on Tuesday.

 

 

 

 

 

Suga is the second K-pop solo artist to reach the No. 2 spot after his fellow Bangtan Sonyeondan  member Jimin's solo album “Face” rose to the same position on the Billboard chart last month.

 

Billboard said Monday (U.S. time) in a preview of this week's chart that "D-Day" debuted at No. 2 with 140,000 equivalent album units, including 122,000 physical album sales, earned American singer Morgan Wallen's "One Thing At A Time" snatched its eighth consecutive No. 1.

 

The chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the United States, measured by equivalent album units comprising physical album sales and other digital sales records. "Like many K-pop releases, the CD edition of D-Day was issued in collectible CD packages each containing a standard set of items and randomized elements. It was also available as a standard digital download album, as well as three alternative cover digital download variants that were sold exclusively through the artist's official webstore. Of D-Day's first-week sales, 90 percent were CDs, while the remaining 10 percent were digital album downloads" Billboard said.

 

With the feat, Suga became the band's third member to score a solo top 10 on the Billboard 200, after Bangtan Sonyeondan RM, who reached No. 3 with his debut solo album, "Indigo," last year, and Jimin.

 

"D-Day," dropped April 21 under Suga's other stage name Agust D, marks the rapper's first solo project in three years since "D-2" in 2020, when his unofficial mixtapes are included, and his first official solo album. It consists of 10 songs, including "Haegeum," the prereleased song "People Pt. 2 (Feat. IU)," "D-Day," "Huh?! (Feat. J-Hope)," "Amygdala," " SDL," "Interlude: Dawn" and "Snooze (Feat. Ryuichi Sakamoto, Kim Woo Sung of The Rose)."

Later Monday, Billboard said on social media the album's lead track, "Haegeum," debuted at No. 58 on the Hot 100 main songs chart for this week.

 

The song's title has a dual meaning, referring to both a traditional Korean string instrument and a Korean noun that signifies lifting restrictions.

 

Through the title, the song highlights the theme of freedom, particularly for those who face various limitations and constraints in their daily lives and in society. The traditional instrument haegeum was used on the track.

 

This is not the first time Suga has made it onto the Hot 100 chart. He previously ranked No. 76 with "Daechwita," No. 29 with the song "Girl Of My Dreams" from the album "Fighting Demons" by the late Juice WRLD and No. 80 with "That That," a collaboration single with South Korean singer, rapper, songwriter and record producer Psy.

The Seoul Central District Court has fined a former foreign service employee 1 million won on charges of attempting to sell Bangtan Sonyeondan member Jungkook's lost hat online, legal sources said Wednesday.

 

The employee, whose identity has been withheld, put the bucket hat for sale on an online second-hand market for 10 million won in October, claiming the K-pop star had left it at the foreign ministry building in Seoul when he visited to apply for a passport.

Bangtan Sonyeondan Jin's latest release, "The Astronaut," is on track to surpass this record  (96 days and still counting). 'The Green Umbrella Children's Foundation announced on May 3 that they will be holding the '3rd Annual Korea Children's Awards' in honor of the 101st Children's Day.

 

The 'Korea Children's Awards' is a ceremony in which children directly select the individuals and organizations that have contributed to the promotion of children's rights. From candidate recommendations to voting and awarding, children participate in every step of the process. The Green Umbrella Children's Foundation selected the 80 first-round candidates in 8 categories with the participation of 500 child and adolescent reporters and panels from all over the country during March. Subsequently, 140 foundation child advocacy committee members, acting as national child judges, voted to determine the 31 final candidates in 8 categories (Children, Adults, Good Companies, Stars, Writers, Videos, Legislation, Research). Among them, J-Hope has been nominated as a finalist in the 'Star' category.

 

The Green Umbrella Children's Foundation highlighted J-Hope's "major achievements," which include "participating in emergency relief donations for children affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, providing scholarships for low-income students at his alma mater, and donating to Tanzanian child abuse prevention projects, contributing more than 800 million won for children in total.

South Korea's state-run postal service agency Korea Post announced on Sunday that it will issue commemorative stamps on June 13, featuring the past ten years of the Bangtan Sonyeondan's history.

 

A total of ten types of stamps will be issued, with a print run of 1.5 million copies. Along with the stamps, commemorative stamp packets (250,000 sets) will also be on sale. The stamp packets will contain stamps featuring the portraits of Bangtan Sonyeondan  members.

 

The selling price is set at 7,770 won ($5.87) for the ten types of commemorative stamps, while the stamp packets will be priced at 20,000 won ($15.11). The on-site sales will begin at nationwide main post offices starting from the 13th of next month.

 

To enable citizens to conveniently purchase the commemorative stamps, Korea Post will undertake pre-sale services on the Internet for four days from May 22~25. The online pre-sale service will be available to customers who have signed up as members of the online Post Office, and membership registration for pre-purchase must be completed by May, 21.

Angel Part 1 has been revealed in a surprise announcement as the upcoming soundtrack for the movie Fast X. Also known as Fast And The Furious 10, it is a sequel to F9 (2021), serving as the tenth main instalment and the eleventh feature film in the franchise. Directed by Louis Leterrier and co-written by Justin Lin, Dan Mazeau and Zach Dean. Jimin's incredible voice collaborating with the biggest pop stars for the hit 'Fast and Furious' film series. 

 

Jimin of Bangtan Sonyeondan has also been breaking a few records by charting constantly for four weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Jimin title track Like Crazy had become the first K-pop solo song to achieve that. While Jimin album Face has reached 344,402,750 streams on Spotify.

Two documentaries starring Bangtan Sonyeondan Suga and J-Hope are set for global release in June, Lotte Cinema announced Wednesday.

 

The cinema release of "J-Hope In The Box" and "Suga: Road to D-Day" is in celebration of Bangtan Sonyeondan  10th anniversary, Lotte Cinema said.

 

Bangtan Sonyeondan, the seven-piece K-pop sensation consisting of Jin, J-Hope, Suga, RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook, celebrates its anniversary on June 13. More details on where the films will be available worldwide have not been announced. Inside South Korea, the documentaries will be screened exclusively at Lotte Cinema branches. 

 

The two documentaries were released earlier this year "J-Hope In The Box" in February and "Suga: Road to D-Day" in April via Disney Plus and Weverse, the fan community platform operated by Bangtan Sonyeondan agency Hybe.
