  1. Starts out with a voiceover that says the painting has always been with him, and if they need it to serve as proof, he’s willing to help. LJM: Hey NM: What? LJM: Thank you. NM: Sister Meng already said that. LJM: This thank you is mine (from me). NM: Okay, I received it! SWR: [Comments about the weather having been bad in the place NM had been visiting and he was worried - I’m guessing he came to fetch her, hence the clip shows two cars traveling down the winding mountain road] HYM: You don’t want NM to be with him. LJM: Whoever she wants to be with, she can be with them. It has nothing to do with me. Airplane flyover HYM: Actually, I think you and NM make a nice pair. Mingming, face up to what’s in your inner heart. CYH: HYM speaks the truth. You should face up to your inner heart. LJM: Aren’t I already doing that? SWR gives her flowers NM: Thank you LJM: I don’t think SWR is reliable NM: Can you not speculate about others? LJM: In what area do you think he is good? I told you to not bind yourself with him with that project. But then you went and bound yourself to him, the individual? NM: Would you please tell me from what position are you asking me these questions? Whether he’s good or bad, what does that have to do with you? Don’t you think you’re being a little too meddlesome?
  2. This holiday dinner…. Is hilarious! (Episode 11) ETA: Weeellll… it was hilarious. Until someone started talking again. Sigh.
  3. She really is a gem. I like how she encourages NM to be confident and to have faith in herself. I also like how she gives NM space to grow, encourages her to have her own thoughts, and respects those opinions! Even when she's disappointed in NM, she treats it like a teachable moment, and seeks to find answers for herself first before blaming NM outright and casting stones. It's such a world of difference and really, it's how new talent should be cultivated. I won't deny. There's a part of me that's waiting for the other shoe to drop. I can't help it. It's the drama watcher in me. Years of drama watching has groomed me to keep one eye on the back of my head at all times and to expect the out of left field backstab. That said I'm really hoping that will never be the case with NM's new boss because she's just so awesome and encouraging. I think she really means it when she says she sees herself in NM and wants to be for NM, the mentor she wished she'd had when she was coming up in this field. The other reason I don't think Miss Shi will turn out to be a backstabber (please, please, please don't let that happen, please let us like her always, please) is because I think you can tell a lot about a person's character just by looking at the people around them. NM's new company is much friendlier, open, and collaborative. Even the office is designed with that purpose - I love how they have an "energy bar," where everyone can gather for a break and raise their plants together. People apologize when mistakes happen versus looking for a way to shift blame. People reach out, answer questions, offer help. This is how a high functioning office should be run. Also, it's in the details... for example, notice how in meetings, Miss Shi doesn't place herself at the end of the table. Rather she sits in the middle amidst her team and she highlights when people do well so that everyone can celebrate in the achievement, and not to make everyone feel like they're in a rat race against each other. LJM may be a genius investor, but he has some learning to do in his leadership skills department... just sayin'...
  4. Once NM quits her job, this drama gets sooooo much better. I feel like I'm flying through episodes now. Prior to that, I just kept wanting to slap LSJ. I don't like the way he belittled her (and still does sometimes) - saying things like, "You're not made to be an investor," "You'll only ever amount to a secretary." I can't wait until she serves him the largest serving of humble pie. As it is, now that she's no longer working for him and not holding back with her words, I'm finally able to enjoy their bickering. Haha.
  5. Omg... that's crazy, lol.... and here I've been wondering if they were purposely not showing us the Stepmom's maid and only her voice because there was going to be a plot twist later on. Sort of like how in the first episode, we only saw the cloaked head/eyes/voice of the person advising the Emperor of Dadong, but now we know the identity of that person. Hahaha. No, Yu Wuyuan was the one who placed the bead in FQW. After he conked her out, he holds a jade ball in his hand and thinks about how he needs to get his hands on the Moon Jade thing and then he lifts his hands to her mouth before the scene fades out. So, the assumption is he shoves the bead down her throat while she's unconscious. Like @movingwheel said, the Old Master didn't give HFX/BFX any sort of tangible thing when he passed the Moon Jade thing down to them. Rather, he passed the technique down to them. Or maybe it's better to say it came to them? They were standing on that flat bedrock doing their martial artsy things when all the energy and water swirled towards them, and the Old Master smiled while watching them and commented something along the lines of - Ah, all along, the missing piece of the puzzle was love - which is why he'd never mastered the technique himself. Anyway, going back to the YWY and FQW thing... my impression from what happened is that once HFX and BFX combined their powers to activate the Moon Jade thing and save FQW, that synergy became stored within the bead, which is how YWY was able to later extract the bead from FQW and use the Moon Jade thing for himself. So, the Moon Jade thing is not the actual bead, but what became stored in it. At least that's how I understood it.
  6. She is. LC is within Yongzhou, but on its border. The neighboring state is Qingzhou, which is where BFX is from.
  7. This is the problem when everything is translated into Pinyin. In actuality, the Fengs are all different characters, so unrelated. I wish when they included English subs, they wouldn't remove the Chinese closed captioning too. 豐蘭息 - Feng Lan Xi 風惜雲 - Feng Xi Yun 鳳栖梧 - Feng Qi Wu
  8. This one breaks my heart, especially. I hope for reconciliation, too!
  9. Viki added this drama to their collection this week so if there were subbing issues before, hopefully that will help.
  10. they were eating spicy foods and at one point TSY says she wants to drink some water, so JB offers to get some for her. Nana immediately protests he’s never gotten her water. And then he asks TSY if she wants warm water, to which Nana says he’s never asked her what kind of temperature water she likes. So JB tells Nana she reminds him of his mom… likes to eat vinegar (get jealous). 😂😂😂 cute exchange!
  11. I’m excited for this one. I love the book so much. If anyone wants to read it, here’s a link: https://www.novelupdates.com/series/waiting-for-you-in-a-city/
  12. Have you checked out Who Rules the World, @gilaswan? So many YY to enjoy at the moment...
  13. No.... don't say that! I had to take a break from this show for the last two weeks because of work, but I'm excited I'll have a bank of episodes once I can get back into it -- or I don't know. Sometimes I also think only 1-2 eps a day is good because it's a lot of adrenalin for the heart otherwise, haha! Glad to know you guys are still enjoying the eps, though. Gives me something to look forward to!
  14. Because netizens are cruel! It feels like there has been an uptick in articles lately on how netizens have been fat-shaming various artists, male and female alike, and I find it really quite ridiculous. I just read one today where a singer apologized for her stylists’ choice of wardrobe because fans said it made her look fat. I saw the pics. Where was the “fat”? And what kind of fans are those??? However these artists look, we should embrace them, and focus on what they bring to the screen via their talents and skills - and not just how big or small they are. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be an artist, to have my looks and appearance so constantly scrutinized. Good thing I’m not one and never will be. 😉 And sorry, I know, I really went off topic there but it was triggering in light of the article I’d just read earlier today which also made me feel sad for that singer.
  15. Hahaha, yes, @bai! Is there anything else to talk about after watching that scene? 😉 Watch it! You watched King’s Avatar, didn’t you? Personally, btw the two ‘no romances’ so far, I am enjoying this one more. I think you’ll like the story in this one. And with YY looking hawt, how can you resist?
  16. I forgot to also say, Episode 10, I love how they still managed to give us a shot of YY’s abs without actually showing us the abs. If I could upload a screenshot I would, but if you watched the Ep, you’ll know what scene I’m talking about anyway. 😉🤣🔥🔥
  17. 58 may have been the original count that was floated around when the project was in discussions, but now that it’s officially airing, it’s 45. Hehe, I think the kitchen squad is a good lesson - for YPY and the audience - on why we should never judge a book by its cover. Some people may be there because it’s what best suits them, but others, like the leader, it’s because he was a former combat soldier who was injured and so he’s ended up there, making the best of the situation and still contributing to the combat squad in the best way that he can. But he still has skills to pass on and I love that YPY, during his year there, was able to benefit from that unconventional training. There’s a rhyme and a reason for everything, right? And I love how it is slowly revealed to YPY (and us) like layers around an onion — also the perfect description the kitchen squad leader gave for YPY. Episode 10 ends in such a way that I feel like something ‘not good’ is going to happen when we pick back up with Episode 11. Thank goodness for these daily updates! Episode 9-10 was a thrill ride with the latest drill and contest. Although their commanding officer (sorry can’t remember all the ranks and titles) was especially harsh during this exercise, I can’t help but feel that he’s doing it because he knows his clock is ticking down, now that he’s asked to transfer. His time with these new soldiers is limited and he’s got to impart with them all that he can while he still can — and that’s especially true for YPY who, unfortunately, is so stubborn, thick, and set in his ways, the lessons don’t seem to gel unless he’s whacked over the head with it.
  18. MDL says it’s 45 episodes… Lol, I find myself focusing on the heavy bronzer action too! But then I figure there are worse things than staring hard at YY’s face… even if the bronzer does make my head tilt. 😂
  19. Hahaha, @gilaswan, you know it! His character is totally crazy in this drama, but boy is he a good-lookin’ sorta crazy! I’m up to date on all the eps. I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would, actually. I’m not going to deny the eye candy drew me in, but I like a good story that involves personal growth, team development, and interesting back stories and each episode has built on that. Finally got to know a little bit about YY’s character’s background in Ep 6, and it’s still just the tip of the iceberg. It’s actually a pretty interesting story and I’m in for it, even if it turns out there’s no romance. Despite the presence of the female officer, I don’t know if this drama will have romance. Most people on MDL say “no” and I believe that’s from the book. Who knows if they’ve changed things from the book to drama or whether they’ll just keep things simmering and flout possibilities like they did in King’s Avatar. Either way I’m okay with it. YY’s character is not in a romantic frame of mind anyway, he’s very much: How can I become a super human soldier? It’d almost be weird if he started having romantic intentions. That said I think potential groundwork is being laid too, so who knows what will happen.
  20. I watched the first episode and the entire time, all I could think was: YY, You. Look. So. Good. 🤣😂😝😅
  21. I plan on checking this one out, too, but with the holidays won’t be able to get to it immediately. Hopefully I’ll remember to check back! 😅
  22. @NiteWalker Have you seen them (and especially Yibo) at the brothel? Because that is the scene you don't know you need in your life until you watch it. Hahaha. It is AH-MAY-ZING.
