  1. lol, I love my spoilers, and for this show particularly, jumping in the middle helps motivate me to watch right from the beginning. (p.s. I am also a 40something ahjumma, more like gonna be 50something soon) Glad, that there are people in this forum watching this drama whom I can chat with, about it. @NiteWalker I don't particularly like court intrigue as well but if it's done well and the conspiring makes sense, then I am all for it. I enjoyed Nirvana in Fire immensely, although it would be hard-pressed to get something up to that standard, but this one catches my fancy, so I am really excited about what's to unfold. Though the angsty parts are coming.. oh well, all part of the process I suppose.
  2. @40somethingahjumma As you put it, the change in title makes a lot of sense. It's lonely at the top, and her willingness to stand by him at all costs, is really what the drama is all about. There's been a fair bit of criticism about how scrawny the FL is, for her supposed role as the Emperor's bodyguard and that the ML is stiff in his portrayal of the role. So, I went in with somewhat coloured lenses. Typical of me, I decided to venture in around E12, to see if I liked what was happening, and lo and behold, it was. I've kinda watched 16, 17 & 18 now, and being a sucker for some good ol' sacrifice for love, I was enamoured and truly excited that it's airing everyday of the week - what a treat! I don't have any bones to pick with their acting. The FL is cute when she has to be, and brave when she should, and at all times, the ML comes first (and he feels almost the same about her, at least at the point where I started watching, so it's a nice feeling of reciprocity). And if the FL were any more robustly-built, she wouldn't match the ML, who ain't terribly brawny himself. So, I have a gut feel that the casting of the FL took the ML's physique into consideration. From the trailers, I kinda can guess what's going to happen at some point in the show, and it looks like a HE, which I am really hoping for. It's still quite a long wait though as the drama slowly airs 2 episodes everyday, then again, I'm glad that there's something to watch right now; politics, blood-shed, betrayal, plotting, and some romance, what else could a gal ask for?
  3. @Tofu Agreed! I definitely liked his character in P&C much more than here. >> I think MW in P&C was more relatable as a person, MW in UL is too distant, too chaebol-like, and too perfect, eventhough it's quite funny that both characters were extremely well-organised to the point of being rather rigid. I still haven't watched the angsty parts where they separated and I think I'd rather keep the memories of them in happier times for now. I had a proud moment when Xiaobao said "baba". >> Me too! The look on the child actor's face was perfect for it. Actually I would say, I am proud of the child actor for delivering his role so well despite being so young. Hu Yixuan has a new drama out and I've heard good reviews on it. Miles doesn't have any that will be released any time soon. >>>A River Runs Through It (the current HYX drama), actually I think she's cute and she's really comfortable in her roles but I'm not absolutely enraptured by her acting or her facial expressions. Yup, no more MW for now in a suit, I hope the costume drama prolly airing next year will do him justice.
  4. My dad saw the preview, and he was so excited about it. He tot it's out and I had to disappoint him. lol. I am waiting for this too! She looks darn cool, and for once not the girl next door, awesome!
  5. Yes, me too, very dashing. I saw him this year in No Boundary (don't want to waste energy talking about the storyline, but I endured it mainly for Darren Chen, the ML and Han Dong - so dashing looking - and really commands the presence).
  6. @NiteWalker There's Han Dong too! I wonder if he is playing antagonist role? Whichever role, he will do a good job, am sure of that. But this won't be anytime soon right? Next year, prolly?
  7. and lipstick too! I think a nude tone is ok, but when you give bright colours, wah the guy looks erh unusual (a case of body being too heaty? ROFL). In that photoshoot, really reminds me of vampire look - I mean, is he supposed to look bad boy with KX?
  8. That was what I think she was referring to. LOL. I think the scriptwriters/ novelists are really running out of ideas how to create angst. There's another drama, formerly known as Jade Bone Ballad aka The Longest Promise, I heard from a friend, that one also FL (disciple) stabs ML (master). Geng ah!
  9. @NiteWalker I think even Yang Zi is balking that she has to stab her other half, again. I saw on YT somewhere that she commented on social media about this.
  10. It feels strange, I look at his face and I think to myself, "but the face belongs in a suit!" lol I don't know what it will be like seeing him in long hair. @NiteWalker his fringe in the poster is a bit...erh... hhmm... not quite my taste? looks like they gave him eyeliners? like vampire look?
  11. I know, P&C is on iQiyi now, prolly because of this drama, they have this thing that you click on the actor, and all related dramas appear. You know after watching both, I kinda like his character in P&C more, it's more gentle and despite being somewhat clueless about romance, he is a lot more sincere and tries harder (which makes the character more lovable and attractive). Over here, he's super confident till the last few chapters where the world comes crashing down on him because of the accident... and I think that really shatters his confidence which brings out I guess for us as viewers another side to see. Oh a positive note, Unforgettable Love made it to Top 10 Webdramas (based on V-linkage data), as reported by youtuber, Marcus here! Yay!
  12. Finally watched E23-24. The editing is really weird in some places and critics will easily find fault with how the story unravels. And for someone like me who just wants to enjoy the story without being too critical, I too found some parts a little jarring. But nevertheless....
  13. That makes a lot of sense, the straight hair is what he has now. Countdown to tonight, 7 hours to go.
  14. @NiteWalker Xiao Bao with straight hair not as cute as compared with curly hair. Thank heavens they permed his hair!
  15. ooh there was such a hospital scene? [hhmm the psycho in me is half anticipating it] It's finally Thursday. Yay, a few more days to go before I see Xiao Bao and pa-pa, and ma-mee. [but dreading the thought of no more sweetness after next Monday. Is there gonna be anything worth watching of MW after this? I caught a few mins of Yang Yang and I get what you mean, he does have a clean look. I am not sure what it's going to be like watching him with Reba (since I have only seen her in TMOPB and PB and only like 2 episodes with Deng Lun in SD, which was frankly really a bad-dream ending for a viewer). But I will give it a shot. Meanwhile, am back to getting my opium-fix of Miles in P&C. [me grinning at the thought of him in a suit while staring at a computer screen filled with work.]
  16. Glad you had a good laugh. (I've been talking to the computer monitor lately and conveying my disappointment to the characters as I watch them (particularly as I was watching Tears in Heaven.) I still can't bring myself to watch E19-E21 of this drama (from the preview, From the way ML addressed the Aunt, this is the father's sister. So, it's in her interest to keep the brother's business going. As her brother and elder nephew are no longer around, the only person left to manage the business is the younger nephew, our ML. So, all hopes are piled on him. He is the White Knight who will go save the company, and make it better. In that vein, she would certainly not want him to be in a mental state where he cannot perform. To her, he is a 'resource'. Every decision made is not in his best interests, but in the interests of the business. Thus, the means justify the ends, to protect the resource so that it can be 'milked' to it's full potential. If you see it from that point of view, then paying off the driver makes sense. But if we see it from the POV of an aunt who is fearful that one day he finds out the truth, then letting him know, trusting the nephew and having faith in him that he would not have been a careless driver, then helping to investigate thoroughly to hopefully find that he was not the cause of the accident would be a better decision. But if that had been the case, there would be no story, and the issue would not have dragged on for so many years. So the scriptwriter alas has to go down this road!
  17. I think the initial joy has now gone down the drain with the scandal surrounding the ML. Let's see, if things take a turn for the better or the worst.
  18. https://new.qq.com/omn/20210421/20210421A08WI800.html @oppasaranghaeyo @Tofu The article reports that The Golden Hairpin has obtained Distribution license in April this year, which probably means they got through with the Censorship Board but a later article stated that the drama was going thru a 2nd review. In any case, there are no airing dates as of yet. Some rumours about July/Aug airing date, but do take this with a pinch of salt. Still, that they have gotten the distribution license means we should get to see it this year (if that's any consolation).
  19. lol, agree, he was indeed a better-looking one. @themarchioness I think the director who produced this drama is the sort who is known for doing action dramas. So in action dramas, it's perfectly alright for people to drop dead like flies. Besides, it's very propaganda-ish...loyalty towards country, sacrifice for the greater good, as the Commander put it - in the interests of the country, as a soldier/police officer, everything is non-negotiable, it's really the penultimate duty that one has to uphold when one is in uniform. As for patients, I suppose, it's a realistic portrayal - not everyone who goes into the hospital comes out alive. Just that, for those of us who are in it for the romance, all the deaths leave a bad taste. More so, as
  20. Yes, it's like all the patients around XC's department are dying. And she's getting pressured by her Dad on decisions about her career and her love life, not easy to deal with when it comes from your own parents. I was half hoping that LMZ had been around when the father was yelling at her to leave him, you know the kinda scene where she turns around and sees him standing there, listening from a distant. And then he comes and gives her a hug, or a knowing smile. Aiyah, director, 你真的不会做人的.
  21. Our girl is having a fight between her head and her heart. Clearly from all her actions, her heart has already been won over by LMZ. But she's a logical person, being a doctor and the head is trying to protect her from undesirable outcomes again, plus all the practical concerns about a relationship being in her profession, with someone in an equally demanding profession. It will take time, but as with all of us, eventually the head will find a reason to support the heart.
  22. He also knows how to use work as a pretext to send the 2 guys to the hospital after the explosion, the right place at the right time, with the right people. Not just the typical boss, more like an uncle.
