  1. The male lead is cute. The trailer looks fun and I find contract marriage storylines enjoyable sometimes. I might watch with you. Remind me again when it airs.
  2. Kanojo wa Kirei datta 彼女はキレイだった English Title: She Was Pretty Director: Kamiya Kaede, Kinoshita Takao, and Matsuda Yusuke Scriptwriters: Shimizu Yukako and Miura Kisa Country: Japan Network: Fuji TV Episodes: 10 Where to Watch w/ English Subs: TencentVideo (Available to those in Asian countries -- you can probably find on third party streaming sites too) Cast Nakajima Kento as Hasebe Sosuke (28) Koshiba Fuka as Sato Ai (28) Akaso Eiji as Higuchi Takuya (30) Sakuma Yui as Kiriyama Risa (27) Synopsis Kanojo wa Kirei datta is the Japanese version of the Korean drama, She Was Pretty (starred Park Seo Jun and Hwang Jung Eum). Hasebe Sosuke is the deputy editor-in-chief for the Japanese fashion magazine, “The Most”. He is originally from the New York branch and was sent to Japan to help the magazine be profitable or risk it get discontinued. Sosuke is intimidating and hard to get along with. When he was younger, he was ugly and fat. His only friend was Sato Ai, a beautiful honor student. Now that he’s back in Japan, he hopes to meet his first love again. Sato Ai is a cheerful and honest person. She dreams of being a child book author, but luck has not always been on her side. She’s been working odd jobs and eventually ends up working for a publishing company. She’s sent to The Most’s department as an assistant. Sosuke and Ai were scheduled to meet each other when he returned to Japan, but he mistaken her for someone else. During the time he was away, Ai's appearance changed. Her hair is curly, she developed freckles, and she was embarrassed that she didn't have a job. When he mistaken her for someone else, Ai had her friend (Risa) pretend to be her. She thought that doing that would end things, but later finds out that he is her new boss. Sosuke was unhappy that Ai had the same name as his first love because she's bit clumsy. However, as they begin working together, he starts to develop feelings for her. Trailer Plot/Story (Rating 7/10): The drama did well staying true to the original. Many of the main topics in the original were found in this version. I enjoyed this version much more than the original – the pace was quicker and there were not many (if any) unnecessary storylines. The last episode felt a bit rushed and I would have liked if the couple was able to share more sweet moments with each other before they separated (they were in a long distance relationship for two years). Cast/Acting (Rating 8/10): I think all the actors/actresses played their characters really well especially Koshiba Fuka. Her version of the female lead was great, and I found myself liking her version more than Hwang Jung Eum’s. When I watched the original, there were times when I was annoyed with the female lead. I didn’t feel this way when I watched this. Koshiba Fuka had a way of making Sato Ai feel relatable and natural without being over-the-top. Akaso Eiji was amazing as the second male lead. There were times I liked him so much I was secretly hoping he would end up with Ai. Haha! He was such a genuine person with a good heart underneath all the silliness. Nakajima Kento was good too. I enjoyed watching him, but there were some times I thought his acting was a bit too much for the scene. Regardless, it didn’t affect me, and I still enjoyed watching him. The chemistry between Fuka and Kento was amazing! I absolutely loved them together, which is why I wished we got to see more sweet moments between them. Production Value (Aesthetics/OST/Cinematography) (Rating: 7/10): I thought it was fine. Japanese dramas have a certain style to them that's different from Korean dramas. If you're used to Korean cinematography, it's best that you do not watch this one with that kind of expectation. It doesn't mean that Japanese dramas are inferior to Korean dramas, the direction and style are just different. There were some strange editing and cuts in some of the episodes, but they didn’t bother me much. The OST is very upbeat which fit the female lead’s personality pretty well. Haha! Re-Watch Value (Rating 7/10): I’m not sure if I’ll re-watch the entire drama from start to finish but I’ll probably re-watch certain scenes again. It’s a cute drama and the Sato Ai’s energy is infectious.
  3. Between both of you (@mademoiselle and @bairama), just let me know what YY photo/gif you want as a badge.
  4. Work has been busy so I was only able to catch a few minutes of the first episode. I'm really digging the whole old HK movie style they have going on. It's bringing back so much memories. It's crazy to think that Wu Lei was born in 2000 and he's in a drama set in the 1990s.
  5. No one requested for YY when YAMG was airing. They all requested for Dilireba and YangYang couple badges. One and Only/Forever and Ever watchers are smart, they only request for Ren Jialun badges. We threw the couple badge in there because we were only making Ren Jialun badges and felt bad. I can be convinced to create a YY badge, but I'll need pictures or a gif. @JenL Rowoon and LJW are too cute! But really, maybe he can consider cutting it too. I think I like him better with shorter hair.
  6. Tagging @Mouse @abs-oluteM and @Hyacinth0910 because I know they also have iQIYI memberships. I liked the link for you!!
  7. @themarchioness posted the link to the novel here: @ma_oo_jw I share similar feelings to you about the drama so far. I'll come back tomorrow to elaborate some more -- it's late here and I should go to sleep. Haha!
  8. Yes, because it's currently on hold because of my drama fatigue. I need to know if I should continue. LOL!
  9. I think the new definition of an "oppa" is someone that's handsome, right? My picks are 30, 2, and 10.
  10. Bai Lu is singing this time around! That's so nice for both of them to do that. I haven't watched today's episodes yet. Will probably watch them later on this week when I have more time. I've seen clips and lots of sweet moments coming up!
  11. WeTV/Tencent is subbing! Based on the airing schedule, it's Tuesday-Thursday this week and then it'll be Monday-Wednesday the following weeks. Umm...why does everything keep airing on Monday-Wednesday?!
  12. You mean he hasn't yet? LOL!! Today is only Monday but I'm so exhausted already. Because of the unemployment benefits here, people are not wanting to work which has produced a shortage in staffing across so many companies including the one I work for. A lot of the health care organizations are mandating the vaccine, which caused people to resigned. I read that a hospital will be closing their maternity wing because dozens of their staff resigned instead of getting the vaccine. They do not have enough health care professionals to help deliver babies. Imagine being in the middle of labor and having to drive further out because the hospital closest to you cannot deliver your baby. That's so crazy to think about! I traveled to DC last weekend and there's a huge difference in COVID response. A lot of the people there wear their masks indoors whereas where I live, I barely see anyone with their mask on anymore. Hopefully, the COVID response for everyone is a lot better than it is here!
  13. It looks like they will have new hairstyles towards the end of the drama....THANKFULLY!
  14. I thought his was ok. It's Wu Lei's hair that I don't like. Hahaha! This trailer seems like fun....the energy for Wu Lei's character reminds me of him in real life. Haha!
  15. I was on Weibo and looked up some of the drama's contents because you mentioned a few were released! The two Taiwanese dramas coming out on iQIYI, the first one is out already (Danger Zone with Vic Zhou). It came out last week, so I'm hoping that this will come out after that one -- that will put us somewhere in October, possibly November? I'm not familiar with him either. I looked through his drama list and I don't remember watching any of his projects. So far in the trailers he's acting seems to be fine, but he's also just walking and staring too. Haha! Agreed, I felt the same way about it too. I read reviews and saw some clips of Love Science when I was looking into it a while back. It didn't look like something I would be interested in. Maybe the next one?
  16. I wonder if he'll remember his time as a spirit or if it'll feel more like a realistic dream to him? Do you think they will have Hyun Soo cross over or will they have him stay to help Doo Shim and Woo Soo? In some ways, I like seeing this trio fighting against the evil spirit.
  17. @flannery It's 40 episodes! Here's the airing schedule from Youku: The playlist with English subs for anyone who needs it: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLATwx1z00Hsee3qJl6H1M3PYnyfgipO5c
  18. @czakhareina You're the best!! I love all of theseeeeeeee!! Although this is how I feel looking at the character chart -->
  19. I used to think this and then I remembered The Witch's Diner. They managed to wrap everything up in two episodes so maybe this drama will manage to find a way to do that too. Haha! I hope that the drama doesn't just gloss over Hyun Soo's dream of finding his mom. That's a pretty big part of what's driving Hyun Soo to help Doo Shim and Woo Soo. Thanks for answering my question! I couldn't remember if they knew. I secretly hope the spirits can returned to their bodies, but that's pretty unrealistic (haha!) --- so I hope that all of them are able cross over.
  20. I'm a ISFJ! I was reading a bit about his personality type and I think it suits him really well. Please do because it's so funny! I laughed so much. Yay on the OST! I'm so happy for you and kind of jealous. It means Chae Jong Hyeop would have touched it! You will need to frame it now. Hahaha! I think Junny's song Alone fit him so well. It even sounded like a song he would recommend too. Haha! Hopefully, some drama news soon, right?!
  21. Thanks @abs-oluteM!! He falls in love with her while she's wearing her feather, then in the interview, he calls her a crow? They seemed different but will probably find out that they are not so different after all. Haha! It will probably just be the three of us watching, maybe?
  22. I have no idea what they're saying but I'm watching it like this: And Kim Min Jae's laugh makes me laugh too.
