  2. I hope this drama protects these babies at all cost.
  3. He's still very much a wild card with a dose of manic when Ruyi is mentioned or around him. He's a smart guy, but he lose all functionality when he's in a manic state.
  4. @JenL I agreed that Destined With You was a bit patchy. I enjoyed it at first, got bored in the middle, and it picked up again towards the end. If a couple gets together too early, I start losing interest especially if there's no storyline to keep me invested. This is how I felt with DWY, but I persevered for @mademoiselle. Hahahahahahaha!!! I'll pick only one from each country of dramas I watched. My favorite family/squad in dramaland this year are... Castaway Family - This family's bond was rooted in the trauma they endured together. Kang Appa loved his boys unconditionally and did everything he could to protect his family. The boys saw him as their real father and the mom grew to love him. They weren't your picture perfect family, but I sure was envious of how much they loved each other. Since Mok Ha didn't want Woo Hak, I think I know many people who would volunteer was tribute to marry him, so they can be part of the family too. Haha! To the Moon and Back - It's been a long time since I've finished a Thai lakorn, but I was happy this was the one I watched this year. Mata's (FL) family was the funniest and most supportive in Thai dramaland I've seen in a while. Mata was raised by a transgender father, who operated a drag show entertainment business. Her family were the people who worked as drag queens at the business. They are loud and obnoxious, but loved her so much. It sent a message that families does not need to be your traditional mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc. Chosen families are also family. The male lead's family was your typical toxic family in a Thai lakorn, so this contrast was refreshing. A Journey to Love - I just love everything about this squad. They are top tier!
  5. I thought of @Chocolate when I saw that too.
  6. Princess Yang Ying's character growth is by far one of my favorite. From the beginning of their journey to now, she's learned so many valuable lessons and have grown so much. Yuanzhou telling her that he's glad she's not like the Wu Emperor must have been good to hear. I love her interactions with Yuan Lu and I'm hoping only for good things with their relationship. I was not able to watch all of today's episodes, but it seems like Li Tongguang will find out Ruyi is Ren Xin. As much as I love to hate him, I do empathize for him. He has abandonment issue that he has yet to address. I hope that he is able to process through that issue soon, because his obsession with Ruyi is wearing thin on me. @IpohBanana @40somethingahjumma Finding the right script with the right character can take a long time for some actors/actresses. While I've only seen Alen in one other project, I like him as Shisan more than his character in the Long Ballad. I don't think the latter did him any justify with the character he played. He was quite forgettable in Long Ballad because there were so many other stronger characters with better development. It seems like he finished filming a costume drama this summer, so hopefully, it'll be a good one when it comes out!
  7. I really liked their relationship. The only reason why I didn't put them on my list is because I'm still pretty bitter about the ending. Couldn't they at least show us the sisters one last time?!
  8. Hahaha! Even though it looks like a lady's blazer, he's actually wearing a men's tweed jacket from Valentino. I agreed that there must be more to Lee Sang Yi's character. I think the drama is having us focus on the older brother's son for now to draw our attention away from Seok Hoon. If Seok Hoon turns out to actually be a good character.....I'm sorry for thinking so badly of you.
  9. Hahahaha! I would just give in because I avoid anything that's stressful. I like Miles and this comment is enough for me to watch it. Si Nian is one of my favorite Miles characters. Agreed with you and @OsmanthusTea that Miles does not match costume dramas. I much prefer him in modern dramas. I feel the same with Luo Zheng too. I don't mind Luo Zheng, but he does get typecast and it's always in some tsundere type role. For Dylan, I have never watched him in a modern drama. I've only seen him in costume dramas and a big part of that is, I know his voice will most likely be dubbed. Question #4: Favorite Relationship @mademoiselle Never! I set this up so I can answer Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938. Haha! The fox brother's relationship is one of my favorite bromance in Korean dramaland. Both actors have a great relationship on and off screen. Kim Bum recently visited the premiere/press conference of Lee Dong Wook's new movie to support him. In Chinese dramaland, my favorite relationship so far this year has been between these five men in A Journey to Love. Words can't express how much joy they bring. They banter constantly, but they are so supportive and willing to do anything for each other. Question #5: What Drama Did Not Meet Expectations The Uncanny Counter Season 2 - I don't know what happened but the heart of the first season was missing. Taxi Driver Season 2 - I think my expectations might have been too high for season two. It wasn't a bad drama, but season one was better including having a better villain. Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist Season 2 - It dragged on for too long. Mysterious Lotus Casebook - I might be in the minority with this drama, but some parts just became redundant and dragged on. At one point, I think I skipped an episode or two and felt the storyline didn't move forward much. Question #6: Who was the Best Appa and/or Omma? Hahahaha! You know me so well! My favorite parents this year has been Ha Yi Chan (the older version played by Choi Won Young) from Twinkling Watermelon and Kang Appa from Castaway Diva. These two appas love their family unconditionally and do so much to protect their families from harm. Honorable mention to Grace from To the Moon and Back (Thai lakorn). He is a transgender father who raised his daughter (female lead) alone after being disowned by his family for his lifestyle. The female lead is a little bit on the quirky side and he is so supportive of her. Definitely one of the best phaaw (the word for dad in Thai) I've seen in Thai lakorns.
  10. @IpohBanana I heard the reviews has been a bit of a mix of people liking and not liking it. I haven't watched it yet but I have seen clips and it looks good. It seems like a very sweet and romantic drama, which is not something I want to watch right now. I am watching too many in Korean dramaland and I need to balance it with other less sweeter dramas. LOL!
  11. @SilverMoonTea Maybe they are channeling LTG and being a bit delulu.
  12. @OsmanthusTea Haha! I've been complaining to @SilverMoonTea about LTG. I'm like, "who is this brat, please get out of the way". Haha! To me, it's been those more important scenes where you can really see his weakness in acting abilities. Outside of those scenes, he's ok. I looked up the actor and apparently, I've seen him in two other dramas. I do not remember who he played in those two dramas. 😅 I low-key hope that he continue to escort princesses with Liu Yuning. They are so funny together, always bantering. Maybe next time, he can be the ML and LYN will be his right hand man. Haha! They have high standards because I think LYN is a very handsome man. I didn't realize how much people were telling him this. He's addressed it so many times I've lost count. Are people upset that he went from an influencer to an actor? Or that he's a singer turned actor? I guess, I don't understand and a part of me don't know if I should try to understand.
  13. @mademoiselle I think I adopt oppas, but it's really the VIP oppas I care about. Do you have someone else on your VIP island besides Rowoon?
  14. Yes, that one! Haha! @mademoiselle I look at my list every year and think I should unadopt a few of them too. I realize later that I like the character they played but into the actor as much. You are dedicated. I would have dropped it by now. Haha!
  15. @mademoiselle No idea. I've only seen her in one drama where the ML was not domineering. So...how many oppas did everyone adopt this year?
  16. @OsmanthusTea It's so unexpected which makes me like them even more. There's always something about other people's drama that makes things more interesting.
  17. Trailer -- this might actually get a release in the next month.
  18. @mademoiselle In the drama I like Wang Hedi in, his voice was dubbed. Actually, I think all the dramas I've seen him in, his voice is dubbed. Hahaha! @Chocolate I think Zhang Ling He is more domineering in his drama with Bai Lu (same actress with Dylan). Like Tea said, she has the best chemistry with Luo Yunxi (he's so skinny).
  19. @mademoiselle Lee Jae Wook's character is the fighter. When Seo In Guk is in their body, he has some of their skills. I say some, because he doesn't have it for all the people and he's not as skilled as them.
  20. @peperomia -- As @SilverMoonTea said, skip Kunning Palace and watch A Journey to Love especially if you like a good wuxia. I heard the ML is a bit of a red flag in Kunning Palace which is why I'm not watching it. The ML in Journey is not a red flag and the FL is Liu Shishi, who is just amazing.
  21. @mademoiselle They are really showing a lot of the drama. Some of these were key scenes in the manhwa. If he plays the person I think he is, he will meet the person that killed him when he was in school while in prison (he entered the body of a student and he was killed by a bully).
